Iron Man 2 Movie Review

Iron Man 2 Movie Review
By: Beevers

SPOILER ALERT

Just left the theater and have to say I really enjoyed Iron Man 2.  I do think that the first one was better but the second one was definitely good too.  One interesting thing to note is that the movie is missing a few scenes that were shown in trailers, such as Pepper kissing Tony's helmet before he jumps from the plane.  I am sure that we will see these scenes when the movie is released on DVD and Blu Ray though.

The movie introduces us to quite a few new characters.  These include Mickey Rourke who does an awesome job as Ivan Vanko (aka Whiplash), the son of the man that helped Howard Stark design the first arc reactor.  There is Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer, a rival weapons manufacturer.  Also, a noteworthy addition is Scarlett Johansson as Natalie Rushman/Natasha Romanoff, Tony's new assistant and an undercover agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Nick Furry (Samuel L. Jackson) has a much larger role this time around. We learn that Howard Stark was one of the founders of S.H.I.E.L.D. which has led to rumors that we will see his character in the Captain America movie. There are a lot of references "easter eggs" to the upcoming Marvel movies that are in the works. Captain America's shield is shown in a scene.  We also see the Avengers file on Nick Furry's desk.

As most of you probably know Tony Stark has come out to the world as Iron Man and the government wants him to turn over the suit and the Iron Man technology.  Tony refuses insisting that he is keeping the world safe and no one else is even close to developing the same technology for at least another 5 years.  That proves to be incorrect when Ivan Vanko attacks Tony on the raceway in Monocco.  Ivan is arrested and pressumed dead when his jail cell explodes but it turns out that Hammer has broken him out of jail in hopes of getting him to help him build his own Iron Man suit.  It is revealed that the arc reactor that is keeping Tony alive is also slowly killing him, leading him to behave even more irratically than usual.  He appoints Pepper as the new chairperson and CEO of Stark Enterprises.  As Tony spirals out of control Rhodey (now played by Don Cheadle) must take measures into his own hands, suiting up as War Machine.  It all comes to an end at the Stark Expo where Hammer introduces his new line of drones that were really designed by Vanko.

Make sure that you stick around until after the credits too.

We here at Sandwichjohnfilms give this movie 7.5 sandwiches out 10.

Terrence Howard And Jennifer Hudson To Star In "Winnie"

Terrence Howard And Jennifer Hudson To Star In "Winnie"

First Morgan Freeman played Nelson Mandela which got him an Oscar nomination, will playing the same role give Terrence Howard his second nod. Terrence Howard ("Iron Man") is to portray Nelson Mandela in the Jennifer Hudson-starring feature "Winnie," based on the story of Winnie Mandela, Nelson Mandela's former wife.

Darrell Roodt is directing the $15 million historical drama, a South Africa-Canada co-production set to start production May 31 in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was held prisoner for 18 years.

Here’s the official synopsis of the book WINNIE MANDELA: A LIFE.

“Everyone has an opinion about Winnie Mandela, and usually a strong one. She has been adored, feared and hated more than any other woman in South African history. But few people know much about the life behind the headlines, myths and sound-bites. This biography is an in-depth and intimate look at Winnie Mandela’s personal and political life, and takes the reader on a remarkable journey of understanding. The book traces her development from talented and privileged child to dedicated social worker, caring wife and mother, and fiery political activist. It examines her vigorous campaign to keep the name of her jailed husband alive, and explores her own harassment, imprisonment and isolation at the hands of the security police. Finally, the book investigates the events that have made Winnie Mandela such a controversial figure: the allegations of kidnapping and murder, her divorce from Mandela, and the current fraud charges. Winnie Mandela’s journey to this point is traced with understanding and honesty, in this fascinating and balanced biography of a most enigmatic woman.”

J.J. Abrams And Steven Speilberg's Super 8 Viral Begins

J.J. Abrams And Steven Speilberg's Super 8 Viral Begins

Ok First the trailer was amazing and has got my attention.   I have seen the new J.J. Abrams / Steven Speilberg Super 8 trailer only once and really didn't notice anything,  but I would have never thought to go through it and actually try to find anything hidden, or look for something that may open the doors to some other information that will open more doors to other things... scary things? Like the scariest thing I ever saw? Because that is exactly what this new trailer has led us to. The people who did all this research did an amazing job, I would never have the time or patience to do it.

The first thing I want to show you is this awesome creepy screenshot that comes from the trailer that perhaps many of you missed. It pops up right before the letters pass over the camera lens at the end of the trailer. This was taken by Carlton Halpert. It looks like a kids face? Or some kind of humanoid Alien? You tell me.

I don't know if you noticed in the trailer or not but some letters flash through the lens of the film camera. There are some pretty hardcore geeks over at the unfiction forum that took screen shots of each letter that flashed up on screen. See below:

The above screenshot spells out... The Scariest Thing I Ever Saw.

So what does one do when they find a phrase like that in a trailer? Look it up on the internet thats what! Which leads us to... thescariestthingieversaw.com. And here's what we get, an old school 1970's PDP-11 16-bit microcomputer display.

You can play around on the site and see what happens, but not much. If you try to print all pages you get this message:

Stop posting publicly. I can answer your questions.
I have proof.

But if you continue to follow all the prompts on the computer you end up at a countdown screen. Of course someone on the unfiction website took the time to actually calculate where the countdown will end.

The number ticks every 5 seconds. 134640 parts. Start at 6000 so subtract those 6000 from the total: 128640. Times that by 5, you get 643,200 seconds until the countdown ends. Divide that by 60, 10720 minutes. Divide THAT by 60, get 179 hours. Which is just around 7 1/2 days. So, probably around Noon on the 15th?

So what happens on May 15th? Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe a trailer? Image? more viral stuff to play with?

If you look at the screenshot above there is a name that appears in the information... D, Morris. Super8news did some research on the name and if it had any relation to Area 51 or UFO's. They came up with the following information for a Dan Morris:

Dan Morris is a retired Air Force career Master Sergeant who was involved in the extraterrestrial projects for many years. After leaving the Air Force, he was recruited into the super-secret National Reconnaissance Organization, or NRO, during which time he worked specifically on extraterrestrial-connected operations. He had a cosmic top-secret clearance (38 levels above top secret) which, he states, no U.S. president, to his knowledge, has ever held. In his testimony, he talks of assassinations committed by the NSA; he tells how our military deliberately caused the 1947 ET craft crashes near Roswell, and captured one of the ETs, which they kept at Los Alamos for 3 years, until he died. He talks about the intelligence teams that were charged with intimidating, discrediting, and even eliminating witnesses to ET/UFO events. He talks about Germany’s re-engineering of UFOs, even prior to WWII. He talks about our current energy crisis — and the fact that we haven’t needed fossil fuels since the 1940s, when free energy technologies were developed — but have been kept from humanity. This is the real reason for the secrecy of the ET/UFO subject. “What the people in power right now don’t want us to know is that this free energy is available to everybody.” In conclusion, he warns against the weaponization of space and the shooting down of ET craft — this could force them to retaliate, and that would be our destruction.

There's a lot of fun and cool information to play around with and speculate about here, and I'm sure this is only the beginning.

Luke Cage Film Getting Some Buzz

Luke Cage Film Getting Some Buzz

Marvel has wanted to develop and make some lower budget movies based on 2nd and 3rd tier Marvel characters. And it looks like Luke Cage's number might get called.

A reconiable Hollywood actor is currently having preliminary discussions with Marvel Studios about bringing Luke Cage to the big screen. We reported back in January about hearing some buzz that Tyrese Gibson was interested in the role?

The character was created by Archie Goodwin and John Romita Sr. He first appeared in Luke Cage, Hero For Hire #1 in June of 1972. He obtained his powers in a terrible accident leaving him with near impervious skin and superhuman strength.

I think Luke Cage would make for a very cool Marvel movie, and his story could be told on a decently low budget, so this is the type of film that would fit perfectly for Marvels movie plans. I would love the story to take place in the 70's instead of modernizing it. What do you all think?

Here is a detailed history of Luke Cage for those of you who aren’t familiar with the comic.

Born and raised in NewYork City’s Harlem neighborhood, Lucas spends his youth in a gang called the Rivals. With his friend Willis Stryker, he fights the rival gang the Diablos and commits petty thefts, often on behalf of deformed crime lord Sonny Caputo, a.k.a. Hammer. In and out of juvenile homes throughout his teens, Lucas dreams of becoming a major New York racketeer until he finally realizes how his actions are hurting his family. He seeks to better himself as an adult, finding legitimate employment. Meanwhile, Stryker rises through the ranks of crime, but the two men remain friends. When Stryker's activities anger the Maggia (a.k.a. the Syndicate), he is badly beaten in a mob hit, saved only by Lucas' intervention. When Stryker's girlfriend, Reva Connors, breaks up with him in fear of his violent work, she sought solace with Lucas. Stryker is convinced that Lucas is responsible for the breakup, so he plants heroin in Lucas' apartment and tips off the police. Lucas is arrested and sent to prison where contact with his family was sparse due to the resentment of his brother James, Jr., who intercepts Lucas' letters to their father James and eventually leads each to believe the other is dead.

In prison, Lucas is consumed by rage over Stryker's betrayal and his father's supposed death, engaging in frequent brawls and escape attempts. Eventually transferred to Seagate Prison off the coast of Georgia, he becomes the favorite target of sadistic guard Albert "Billy Bob" Rackham, whose brutality ultimately leads to a demotion that he blames on Lucas. Later, research scientist Dr. Noah Burstein recruits Lucas as a volunteer for experimental cell regeneration based on a variant of the Super-Soldier process he had previously used to empower Warhawk. Burstein immerses Lucas in an electrical field conducted by an organic chemical compound; when he left Lucas unattended, Rackham misuses the experiment's controls, hoping to maim or kill Lucas. Lucas' treatment is accelerated past its intent, inducing body-wide enhancement that gives him superhuman strength and durability. He uses his new power to escape Seagate and makes his way back to New York, where a chance encounter with criminals inspires him to use his new powers for profit.

Adopting the alias Luke Cage and donning a distinctive costume, he launches a career as a Hero for Hire, helping anyone who can meet his price. He soon establishes an office above Times Square’s Gem Theater, where he befriends film student D.W. Griffith Burstein, aware of his friend's innocence, also relocates to New York and opens a medical clinic, assisted by Dr. Claire Temple, whom Cage begins dating. Although Cage is content to battle strictly conventional criminals, he soon learns that New York was hardly the place to do so. Stryker himself has become a Maggia agent as Diamondback and dies battling Cage. Subsequent opponents included Gideon Mace, an embittered veteran seeking a U.S. takeover who will become a frequent foe; Chemistro (Curtis Carr), whose Alchemy Gun will be a weapon later used by others, including his own brother after Curtis reformed; and Discus, Stiletto, Shades, and Commanche, all criminals with ties to Cage's prison days who will face him repeatedly over the year

Mission Impossible 4 Pushed Back

Mission Impossible 4 Pushed Back

Back in February, it was announced that Paramount will release Mission Impossible 4 starring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt again, produced by J.J. Abrams, on Memorial Day 2011 but Paramount today has pushed back the release date to December 16th, 2011.

Last we heard, Brad Bird (The Incredibles) was in talks to direct MI:4 but nothing is finalized or confirmed yet but I’m sure we’ll hear more soon enough.

Along with that is the announcement of the release date of Super 8, the super secret project directed by J.J. Abrams, produced by Steven Spielberg, will see the light of day sometime in Summer 2011.
The trailer, which has caused so much curiosity over the interweb is attached to Iron Man 2 this weekend.

Street Fighter Legacy is brought to us by Joey Ansah, the crazy dude who fought Jason Bourne in Morocco in The Bourne Ultimatum. Collider got there hands on the short and let it loose to the world.

If this doesn't get the guys a shot at making a feature film, then I don't know what will.

To check out more behind the scenes and photo stills go over and say Hello to the good guys over at Collider.

Space Paranoids Online Come And Play

Space Paranoids Online Come And Play

I want to thank Firstshowing for giving us the heads up on this.

Space Paranoid is online and and playable. It is apart of the Tron: Legacy viral campain for the upcoming film. The game we wish we could have played as a kid is here now and for all of us to enjoy. Space Paranoids, the game which oh so much of the Tron world is based on. Basically, you drive around in a little tank killing recognizers and other enemies until you beat each level. It's a lot of fun and a great way to kick back and pass the time all day long. I think there are secrets hidden on every level. Have you found any?

Space Paranoids Online

To play, visit: spaceparanoidsonline.com. If you want to help move this viral along, be sure to start playing now and let us know if you find anything unusual or find any other hidden secrets in the game. Additionally, there seem to be a few more Tron Legacy viral bits to mention, including a very interesting (and awesome) virtual server created by Encom. I found a link to HelloFlynn.com in the discussion forum on Flynn Lives and when you visit it launches an Encom server like the same one seen in the teaser trailer (when he goes down to Kevin Flynn's secret room with the laser). Here's a better screenshot of that site:

The server shows a few photos of some concept art / lightcycle sketches and asks for "File Code" entries, one of which can be found in a caption. I saw a mention in the Unfiction forums that someone found a "hidden wall" inside the Space Paranoids game and found a barcode which scanned a number that was also a file. Maybe there are more of these barcodes and files hidden around the Space Paranoids game? Not sure, but if you're ready to join the hunt and help us find more, dive right in at spaceparanoidsonline.com and get to work killing recognizers

Jon Favreau Wants The Mandarin In Iron Man 3

Jon Favreau Wants The Mandarin In Iron Man 3

Director Jon Favreau has been sprinkling "Ten Rings" references throughout Iron Man and Iron Man 2, leading many fans to speculate that the ring-wielding villain the Mandarin might very well be the main antagonist in Iron Man 3. Now, in a recent interview with MTV, Favreau has admitted that he has "got to do the Mandarin" in the sequel, but he has to figure out a way to do it that fits into the tech-based world he's created for Iron Man.

"The problem with the Mandarin is that the way it's depicted in the comic books, you don't want to see that. He has 10 magical rings — that just doesn't feel right for our [franchise]. So it's either tech-based, or the rings are not really rings. But maybe with Thor and all those others, you'll introduce magic to that world and it won't seem so out of place."

Favreau said that he can't really make any plans until he sees what happens with the other Marvel Studios movies currently in production.

"Iron Man 3, to pay it off, there's so much left to understand about what the world is going to be like then. You've got Thor, Captain America, Avengers all happening with different directors before Iron Man 3, and that's all going to affect Iron Man 3.

"And what's going to have happened by then? With Thor, you're going to have all this supernatural stuff happening, and magic. There's a lot of stuff going on in the world; if it's going to match the comic book, it's going to be incredibly complex for a film. I'm curious to see how they handle all that stuff."

Lost Finale Gets An Extra 30 Minutes

Lost Finale Gets An Extra 30 Minutes

The producers of ABC's hit drama have shot so much crucial material for the show's hugely anticipated series finale that the network has agreed to extend the last episode by an extra half-hour.

When the "Lost" finale airs on Sunday, May 23, the episode will run from 9 p.m.-11:30 p.m. The overrun will push back local news, with the previously announced "Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost" post-finale special now airing at 12:05 a.m. ABC is expected to announce the plan on tonight's episode of Kimmel.

Executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof just completed postproduction on the finale -- titled "The End" -- on Monday night. Both sent out identical tweets: "We're done. Amen."

Lindelof recently told THR that the crew built all-new sets for the finale and promised the ending would prompt more questions.

The supersizing of the finale is the latest adjustment to what might as well be called "The 'Lost' Weekend." ABC is airing an "enhanced" (pop-ups) version of the show's original two-hour pilot on May 22. On Sunday there's a two-hour retrospective titled "Lost: The Final Journey," followed by the finale, then the local news (which was preempted in the first-blush recounting of this plan) and Kimmel post-show.

Lindsay Lohan To Stars As Linda Lovelace Inferno

Lindsay Lohan To Stars As Linda Lovelace Inferno

In The Internet has been abuzz with the rumor that Lindsay Lohan, amid all her trouble, has landed her next acting gig, playing '70's porn star Linda Lovelace in the independent period drama "Inferno."

Like so many Lohan rumors, it's been tricky to separate fact from myth, but late Monday we talked to one of the producers, and he confirmed that Lohan will star in the film.

"Inferno" producer Wali Razaqi told us that Lohan has indeed been cast and that an announcement will be made (no doubt for the benefit of the foreign distributors whose money partly finances such productions) at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. Lohan may appear at the festival as part of that announcement, though we'll believe that part when we see it.
"We've all thought that Lindsay would be a great choice for a while now, and we're all convinced that she is going to do it," Razaqi said. "For at least a year, the director [Matthew Wilder] and I have gone back and forth imagining how awesome of a performance she could give if she was in the movie."

As far as what Lohan will actually be doing in the film, the producer was less forthcoming. He did disclose that Bill Pullman is attached to play Hugh Hefner in the movie, which will be based on the real events of Lovelace's life. The drama will delve into "the difficult stuff she went through and overcame," he said.

"I would say it's probably one of the most challenging roles any actor could play -- and not because of the sexual content, necessarily -- but more because she was so battered and beat up emotionally, that I think it’s gonna take everything Lindsay has to really be able to pull it off," he said. "Not that Lindsay's life is similar in any way -- but she's been through a lot of ups and downs. A lot of times you're loved and then you're hated, and I think she can relate to those emotions and feelings. One week she's the 'it' girl, and the next, she's the 'what are you doing?' girl."

Are You Ready For Die Hard 5?

Are You Ready For Die Hard 5?

Are you ready for another Die Hard film? “Hitman” screenwriter Skip Woods is in negotiations with Fox to take a crack at a new “Die Hard” script. The New York cop known for consistently being in the wrong place at the right time has already survived four run-ins with terrorists, traitors and psychotic loose cannons of one stripe or another.

In his last outing, “Live Free or Die Hard,” written by Mark Bomback and directed by Len Wiseman in 2007, McClane battled Web terrorists to $378 million in worldwide grosses — 20 years after first pitching Hans Gruber out a broken window at Fox towers.

Woods has already co-written several tentpole projects for Fox, including “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and the forthcoming TV adaptation “The A-Team.” He also wrote the original screenplay for “Swordfish.”

Kick-Ass 2 "Balls To The Wall" In 2012?

Kick-Ass 2 "Balls To The Wall" In 2012?

Looks like me might be getting a sequel to Kick-Ass. After a very disappointing performance at the box office so far. ($40 Million so far and the film cost 30 million to make) Has the movie warranted a sequel? I say HELL yes!

Mark talked to Forces of Geek in which he was promoting his new UK Geek Magazine CLiNT. Here is a little description he gives on the magazine:

I’ve worked on everything from Spider-Man comics to the Iron Man movie for Marvel in New York, but what really excites me is the gap I see in the UK market at the moment. There are absolutely no comic-books aimed at 16-30 year old guys and I think CLiNT has potential to make an enormous impact, bringing a new type of magazine to a new generation.

I want this to be edgy and irreverent, the kind of thing guys will be passing around lunch-halls and common rooms, and there’s nobody I’d rather have creating new characters for CLiNT than Jonathan and Frankie. They’re both brilliant writers and will surprise a lot of people with this stuff. The last thing you’d expect from Jonathan, for example, is a vampre strip, but he pulls it off amazingly. People are going to love this.

Then there is this little hint of info in the article:

Millar is also launching his sequel to the hit Kick-Ass movie in the first issue of the comic. “Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall” has been scheduled for production in 2011 for a 2012 cinema release

I have no idea when Vaughn will have time, since he just signed on to direct X-Men: First Class. But he will have to find the time to make this happen.

Fox allowed Rodriguez to put together a Cinco De Mayo message to Arizona. If you are up to date on the current events of what is going on there then you will know why this is so cool.

The film is an expansion of a fake trailer Rodriguez directed for the 2007 film Grindhouse and a spin-off of the Spy Kids films (since the lead character is the uncle of the protagonists).

Synopsis:

The highly skilled Federale Machete is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he's about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he's been set up. He barely survives the sniper's bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren't you!

Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in an original sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible—inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. This summer, your mind is the scene of the crime.

We have some exciting news and can confirm who the director is going to be for the upcoming X-Men: First Class film. Drum roll please.... Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn will direct the upcoming film and they have set a release date for the film on June 3,2011.

Here is the offical press release:

LOS ANGELES (May 4, 2010) __ “Kick-Ass” director Matthew Vaughn will helm X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, a new chapter in Twentieth Century Fox’s blockbuster series of films based on the Marvel Comics.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS begins production this summer for a June 3, 2011 release. Bryan Singer, who conceived the story for FIRST CLASS and directed the original “X-Men” and its sequel “X2,” is producing along with Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg.

“I’ve been a fan of Matthew’s since LAYER CAKE,” said Singer. “He has a deft hand with multiple characters and storylines, and a great love of the X-Men universe. I feel the combination of this story and his vision will make for an exciting and original X-Men film.”

Added Twentieth Century Fox president of production, Emma Watts: “X-Men: First Class presents an exciting opportunity to further explore the history and relationships of these beloved characters. Matthew’s combination of talent, verve and vision is perfectly suited to the task.”

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. "Glee" Star Dianna Agron Joins The Cast For "I Am Number Four"

"Glee" Star Dianna Agron Joins The Cast For "I Am Number Four"

Dianna Agron, one of the stars of red-hot Fox series “Glee,” has nabbed the female romantic lead in “I Am Number Four,” DreamWorks’ adaptation of the upcoming young-adult science-fiction book by James Frey and Jobie Hughes.

“Four” revolves around a group of nine aliens who escaped their home planet just before it was annihilated by a rival species. Hiding out on Earth, the title character, to be played by British actor Alex Pettyfer, disguises himself as a human high schooler, only to discover he’s still being hunted by his planet’s enemy.

Agron will play a girl dating a high school jock who falls for Number Four and becomes his confidante.

“Four” will be Agron’s big-studio debut. The role in the high-pedigree movie — Michael Bay is producing with Steven Spielberg, and D.J. Caruso is directing — was highly sought-after, and the studio went through several rounds of tests to find the right candidate.

Sharlto Copley is already on board as Four’s mentor, while Teresa Palmer is cast as Pettyfer’s fellow alien, Number Six.

Chris Bender and J.C. Spink are executive producing with David Valdes. Al Gough and Miles Millar wrote the screenplay. “Four” is scheduled to begin principal photography next month in Pittsburgh.

Sam Rockwell Joins Cast Of "Cowboys and Aliens"

Sam Rockwell Joins Cast Of  "Cowboys and Aliens"

Sam Rockwell is reteaming with Jon Favreau for another comic book adaptation, DreamWorks' "Cowboys and Aliens."

Rockwell, who portrays arms manufacturer Justin Hammer in the Favreau-directed "Iron Man 2," has joined the cast of "Cowboys," the alien invasion-meets-the Wild West project that Favreau begins shooting in June.

Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde and Harrison Ford are already cast in the tale, based on a Platinum Studios graphic novel, of cowboys and Indians rising up against aliens.

Rockwell will play a bar owner named Doc who joins in the pursuit of the aliens. Once Favreau and the writers -- Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof -- learned that Rockwell was interested in the movie, they reconceived and expanded the role, which initially called for a heavy-set man.

Howard Stark To Appear In Captain America

Howard Stark To Appear In Captain America

It would make sense to have Howard Stark may an appearance in the upcoming Captain America film. In Iron Man 2, Howard Stark is played by John Slattery, who appears in a video reel flashback scene and plays an important part in unraveling a key plot mystery. How big Stark's part in Captain America will be is unknown at this time.

Jon Favreau let the world know on MTV that Tony's father would be in the upcoming film.

Asked about Stark senior's possible appearance in Cap..

"Yeah, because he was around then. ['Captain America'] is World War II. It wouldn't be that same actor, probably, because he would be much younger.[Howard Stark] was starting out during that time, and [he] was involved with the war effort, much like Howard Hughes,"

Dark Crystal "Power Of The Dark Crystal" Ready To Begin

Dark Crystal "Power Of The Dark Crystal" Ready To Begin

The team that brought us Daybreakers , will be directing the upcoming sequel to Dark Crystal called "Power Of The Dark Crystal," and of course it will be in 3D also.  The screen play was written by Australian scribe Craig Pearce (Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet) based on an original script by Annette Duffy and David Odell.

The legendary fantasy artist Brian Froud is back as the conceptual designer of the film, which will use a mix of live action and traditional puppetry combined with visual and special effects produced entirely in Australia.
They already started work on the film’s complex CGI elements.
At least they stick to the elements to a certain extent… instead of going the Alvin & The Chipmunks route or the Rob Zemeckis’ method with all his Motion Capture addiction.

Here’s the plot for the sequel..

“Set hundreds of years after the events of the first movie when the world has once again fallen into darkness, Power of the Dark Crystal follows the adventures of a mysterious girl made of fire who, together with a Gelfling outcast, steals a shard of the legendary Crystal in an attempt to reignite the dying sun that exists at the center of the planet.”

Overhearing the boy’s earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment… Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by “vita-rays.” Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and as leader of the Avengers.

The First Avenger: Captain America To Leave The Door Open For Winter Soldier?

The First Avenger: Captain America To Leave The Door Open For Winter Soldier?

I am not a familiar with this story and what has been happening the last few years with comic books. But I will break down what I know and maybe we all can learn something new.

This may contain spoilers to the upcoming The First Avenger: Captain America film and sequels so you have been Warned, if they go in this direction.

Sources inside the The First Avenger: Captain America production are now telling me that the Captain America movie continuity is being developed to leave the door open for the Winter Soldier to appear, should there be a sequel. Bucky will be seemingly killed when Cap is frozen in ice, as he was in the original post-WWII Captain America stories, but he'll take on some serious injuries along the way, allowing him to show up again in the future with a cyborg arm.

Previous thinking at Marvel Studios had Bucky surviving the war and meeting Cap in
the modern day as an old man, which is how it happened in the Ultimate universe, a rebooted version of Marvel continuity that's been influential on some of Marvel's approach about the movies (that's where Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury comes from, as well as SHIELD being behind the Avengers). I've actually heard some contradictory versions of what happens to Bucky, which leads me to believe that there's been some back and forth on the issue (I've also heard that, as of a couple of weeks ago, the script for The First Avenger: Captain America was anything but locked down), but my source feels fairly certain that right now The Winter Soldier is being, if not planned, left available.

Here is a more detailed rundown of the Winter Soldier:

As a young boy, James Buchanan Barnes lost his father (a soldier during WWII), and was adopted by Camp Lehigh as their mascot, and given the nickname "Bucky". It was here that he learned the identity of Captain America. He underwent rigorous training and was assigned to be Cap's sidekick, accompanying him on many adventures, and the two often worked with the original Invaders. However, on a final mission against Baron Zemo, Bucky and Cap hopped on an experimental drone plane in an attempt to disarm a bomb. The bomb detonated, dropping Cap in the North Atlantic, where he would later be found and thawed out by the Avengers. American forces never found Bucky's body, and he was presumed dead. Unbeknownst to the Americans, he was found and revived by Russian General Vasily Karpov.

N.W.A Biopic To Be Made "Straight Outta Compton"

N.W.A Biopic To Be Made "Straight Outta Compton"

Rap is finally getting the Ray treatment. New Line is developing Straight Outta Compton, an urban drama about N.W.A. (a.k.a. Niggaz With Attitude), the hip hop group that helped pioneer the gangsta rap movement in the ’80s and early ’90s. The project will chronicle the rise and fall of the rap quartet, founded by Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and MC Ren, whose songs were so incendiary (i.e. "F— tha Police") they were banned from radio playlists but still sold millions of albums. Then came the inevitable fiery breakup, a grudge match between the former bandmates, and Eazy-E’s tragic death due to AIDS. The film’s producers, which include Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Tomica Wright (Eazy-E’s widow), and Circle of Confusion entertainment, are now actively searching for a director along the lines of Curtis Hanson (8 Mile).

Spielberg To Ride The "War Horse"

Spielberg To Ride The "War Horse"

Steven Spielberg has selected his next directing job: World War I epic "War Horse."

Disney and DreamWorks will release the film Aug. 10, 2011.

"War Horse" is based on Michael Morpurgo's novel of the same name, as well as a stage adaptation. Spielberg is producing with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Revel Guest. Scribes Lee Hall and Richard Curtis are penning the adapted script.

Set against the sweeping backdrop of the Great War, storyline charts the extraordinary friendship between a boy and a horse who are separated but whose fates continue to intertwine over the course of WWI.

The Great War was a natural topic for Spielberg to take on. He's already explored World War II in a number of projects, including directing "Saving Private Ryan." He exec produced HBO's "Band of Brothers," and more recently, the pay cabler's "The Pacific."

Spielberg and DreamWorks co-chair-CEO Stacey Snider acquired the rights to Morpurgo's "War Horse" last fall.

At that time, Spielberg said he knew from the minute he read the book that he wanted DreamWorks to make the film. "Its heart and its message provide a story that can be felt in every country," he said.

"War Horse" was first published in 1982 when it was a runner-up for the prestigious Whitbread Award. Morpurgo is the best-selling author of more than 120 books for children including "Kensuke's Kingdom" and "Private Peaceful."

The hit stage adaptation of "War Horse," written by Nick Stafford and directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, was first produced at London's National Theater in 2007. It has since played successful repeat engagements in the West End.

DreamWorks also has optioned the rights to the stage play. Spielberg saw the play in London in March.

Here’s the official synopsis of the book:

“In 1914, Joey, a beautiful bay-red foal with a distinctive cross on his nose, is sold to the army and thrust into the midst of the war on the Western Front. With his officer, he charges toward the enemy, witnessing the horror of the battles in France. But even in the desolation of the trenches, Joey’s courage touches the soldiers around him and he is able to find warmth and hope. But his heart aches for Albert, the farmer’s son he left behind. Will he ever see his true master again?”
