Assassin’s Creed First Image

Courtesy of EW here is the first image from Assassin’s Creed . Ubisoft’s historical fiction-action-adventure series Assassin’s Creed stands as one of the most popular video game franchises ever created, selling more than 73 million copies and spawning comic books, novels, animated short films, even its own hard-cover encyclopedia in addition to popularizing some 20 series-related titles. So you’d be forgiven for assuming that before Michael Fassbender signed on as star and producer of December 2016’s mega-budget Assassin’s Creed movie adaptation, he had probably picked up the joystick to play the game at least a couple of times — that the Oscar-nominated 12 Years a Slave actor had some conceptual grasp of what an Animus does or, perhaps, strong feelings about the wonders of the Bleeding Effect. But you’d be wrong. Before Ubisoft made their movie overture to him in 2012, the Irish-German thespian admits he couldn’t have been less of a gamer and didn’t have the most concret

#AliciaVikander In Talks For Bourne Film & Assassin’s Creed

The Swedish actress is in talks to star in two major new tentpoles: Assassin’s Creed , the Justin Kurzel-directed New Regency live-action adaptation of the Ubisoft video game; and the new Jason Bourne picture opposite Matt Damon with Paul Greengrass directing. Deadline understands there’s still some work to do to get the schedules aligned but it appears likely that, whatever happens with those two projects, Vikander is likely to drop off The Circle . Word we are hearing is that the producers have made an offer to Harry Potter star Emma Watson to play the young female lead. The Circle, based on a Dave Eggers novel and written and directed by James Ponsoldt, was one of the hottest titles at the just-wrapped Cannes market. Vikander’s attachment was only announced on the eve of of the festival — to play a young employee at a tech company called The Circle, who gets involved with a mysterious man — with IM Global virtually selling out international with a slew of big indie deals.

Marion Cotillard Joins Assassin’s Creed Film

Marion Cotillard has signed on to star with Michael Fassbender in the Justin Kurzel-directed Assassin’s Creed, the live-action adaptation of the Ubisoft video game. They starred together in Macbeth, and Kurzel directed the film, which The Weinstein Company will release later this year. They’re keeping under wraps the role that Cotillard plays, but she’s a versatile actress who won the Oscar for La Vie En Rose, and also played an action role in The Dark Knight Rises. Like Fassbender, her role is meant to span multiple films if this one scores and becomes a franchise. New Regency and Ubisoft has married pedigree elements to a big-selling video game, a formula that has served Marvel well in building its franchises. Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed video game has sold over 91 million units. Production will begin in early fall for a December 21, 2016 release through Fox, and the film is being co-financed by RatPac and Alpha Pictures. Frank Marshall, Arnon Milchan, Jean-Julien Baronnet,
