BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Behind the Scenes Of Book Of Eli

Behind the Scenes Of Book Of Eli Denzel Washington talks about the preparation that went into performing his own stunts and filming the intense fight choreography in 'The Book of Eli.' In the not-too-distant future, some 30 years after the final war, a solitary man walks across the wasteland that was once America. Empty cities, broken highways, seared earth-all around him, the marks of catastrophic destruction. There is no civilization here, no law. The roads belong to gangs that would murder a man for his shoes, an ounce of water…or for nothing at all. But they’re no match for this travelerA warrior not by choice but necessity, Eli (Denzel Washington) seeks only peace but, if challenged, will cut his attackers down before they realize their fatal mistake. It’s not his life he guards so fiercely but his hope for the future; a hope he has carried and protected for 30 years and is determined to realize. Driven by this commitment and guided by his belief in something greater than

Twilight:New Moon Review. Better Late Then Never

Twilight:New Moon Review. Better Late Then Never By-Windy City Gal I know the review is a few weeks late. But better late then never is what I say. Want to thank Windy City Gal for another great review and be sure to come back soon for her review on Sherlock Holmes and It's Complicated. Also Make sure to check out her one of a kind Blog Here . Author's Note: I am over 30, in a relationship, have no children, and am a self-proclaimed Twi-hard who has seen New Moon five times as of writing this article. Writing a review for "New Moon" is no easy task, as there are two points of view to take: the craftsmanship (i.e. Oscar) point of view, and the Twi-Hard point of view. Therefore, I comment from both perspectives below. ----- "What I've realized over the last week is I won't necessarily get good reviews for this movie. Having swallowed that, this was made for the fans, and if you don't get it, then you don't get it." - Chris Weitz, Entertainm

Charlie Sheen Arrested In An Alleged Domestic Violence Case

Charlie Sheen Arrested In An Alleged Domestic Violence Case A police spokeswoman in Aspen, Colo., says Charlie Sheen has posted bond and been released from jail hours after he was arrested in an alleged domestic violence case. Stephanie Dasaro says the "Two and a Half Men" star posted $8,500 bond Friday after speaking with a county judge and was advised on the conditions of his release. Officers arrested the 44-year-old actor Friday morning after responding to a 911 call from a house in the ski resort town. Sheen was taken into custody for investigation of second-degree assault and menacing, both felonies, along with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. Dasaro declined to name the accuser, citing a department policy prohibiting the identification of potential victims in domestic violence cases. Sheen's publicist Stan Rosenfield released a statement saying, "It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion." Charlie Sheen was arrested Friday in the Colorado r

Most Pirated Films Of 2009

Most Pirated Films Of 2009 Paramount's worst fears are confirmed: "Star Trek" was the most pirated film of 2009. In October, studio COO Frederick Huntsberry delivered a presentation to the FCC that detailed how "Star Trek" had become a hot commodity in piracy circles. Illegal file-sharing had advanced from "geek to sleek," he said. Now, according to data from TorrentFreak, "Star Trek" was downloaded nearly 11 million times this past year, just edging "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" in total downloads. Interestingly, for all the fuss about the "Wolverine" leak, the film barely makes the top 10. Meanwhile, Guy Ritchie's "RocknRolla" was the third most pirated film this year. The film was distributed in the U.S. by Warner Bros. and grossed less than $26 million in worldwide box office. We wonder whether its availability online hurt boxoffice—or whether Warners might have promoted the theatrical release mor

Jet Li's Warlords Trailer

Jet Li's Warlords Trailer The film is set in the 1860s, during the Taiping Rebellion in the late Qing Dynasty in China. The story, based on an unresolved crime in 1870, tells of three sworn brothers (played by Jet Li, Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro) who are forced to turn against one another due to the harsh realities of war and political intrigue. The story begins with a vicious battle, after which Qing-Yun (Jet Li), a Qing Army General, is the only survivor of his entire army. In his aimless wanderings he encounters a girl named Lian Sheng [莲生] (Xu Jinglei), who nurses him back to health. Once he regains his strength, Qing-Yun soon meets Wu-Yang (Takeshi Kaneshiro), and later Er-Hu (Andy Lau); leaders of a bandit army that regularly steals food to survive — his participation in a successful raid on a rebel military convoy immediately earns Qing-Yun their friendship, who take him to their village. There he finds Lian Sheng again, who is revealed to be Er-Hu's wife, and they b

Sherlock Holmes Has Monster Christmas Day

Sherlock Holmes Has Monster Christmas Day Warner Bros.' period action pic "Sherlock Holmes" raked in $24.9 million yesterday, notching the best Christmas day opening ever at the domestic box office. Directed by Guy Ritchie, "Sherlock" marks the Blighty helmer's first wide release stateside after making his mark with a string of high-octane actioners such as "Snatch" and "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels." The film, in play at 3,626 venues, easily becomes the best opening for Ritchie as his previous pics received platform bows. "Sherlock" also served up runner-up opening day records for producer Joel Silver and leading thesp Robert Downey, Jr., whose respective highs are "The Matrix Reloaded" ($42.5 million) and "Iron Man" ($38.7 million). "Sherlock" is Ritchie's second collaboration with Silver after last year's Gerard Butler shoot-em up "RockNRolla." In addition, "Sherlock

American Idol To Go On Without Simon Cowell

American Idol To Go On Without Simon Cowell Fox is near a deal to order more seasons of "American Idol" -- with or without its most popular judge, Simon Cowell. The network's current contract with "Idol" producer 19 Entertainment and FremantleMedia extends through the end of the 2011 season. But the network is working on a new deal that includes three seasons of "Idol," though that number could still change. The announcement is expected to demonstrate Fox's commitment to its top-rated series, even as "Idol" faces its biggest challenge yet. The "Idol" franchise has been rocked by rumors that Cowell will depart the show after the upcoming season as he prepares to bring his hit UK music competition series "X-Factor" to the states. Cowell's brother Tony announced Tuesday on his weekly podcast that Simon will leave "Idol" at the end of 2010. The move could have a double impact on "Idol" -- the loss o

MTV's Jersey Shore Catching More Heat

MTV's Jersey Shore Catching More Heat MTV is getting more pressure to cancel its "Jersey Shore" reality show. The latest criticism comes from the New Jersey Italian American Legislative Caucus, which says the show promotes derogatory ethnic stereotypes and is "wildly offensive." In a letter sent Tuesday to the president of Viacom, MTV's parent company, caucus chairman Joseph Vitale asks that the show be immediately taken off the air. The state lawmakers also have asked advertisers to boycott the show, which focuses on eight tanned 20-somethings and their escapades in Seaside Heights, a popular New Jersey beach town. On Wednesday, a Viacom spokesman referred a request for comment to an MTV spokesperson, who did not immediately respond. MTV has said its intention is not to stereotype or offend. Keira Knightley To Star In "The Talking Cure"

Keira Knightley To Star In "The Talking Cure" Talk about your indie cast dream teams: Keira Knightley, Christoph Waltz and Michael Fassbender have all signed on to star in David Cronenberg's adaptation of The Talking Cure. It would appear that Cronenberg has shuffled his cinematic version of Christopher Hampton's play to the top of his active pile after thriller The Matarese Circle died in development when Tom Cruise opted to do something else instead. Now, though, Australian distributor Hopscotch has nabbed the rights to Cure and Cronenberg has lined up his impressive cast for a story that chronicles the fathers of psychoanalysis - that would be Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung - and their complex relationships with a beautiful patient. Bet Keira's playing Freud. It's been a long road for Cronenberg on this one - he's been attached since at least 2007, but now it looks like he'll finally be flying to Europe early next year to kick off shooting... James Whi

Inglourious Basterds Prequel In The Works

Inglourious Basterds Prequel In The Works This weekend, we met with Quentin Tarantino, who was still in town after a MoMA Q&A with Elvis Mitchell this past Thursday. As if the weekend's snowstorm wasn’t inconvenience enough, his Hugo Boss coat — which contained his I.D., credit cards, and about $2,000 in cash — was stolen from the West Village bar Galway Hooker on Saturday. Taking pity on him, we paid for some French-vanilla lattes and mimosas the next day, and took the opportunity to ask him about his next film project and how Germans and Israelis perceived Inglourious Basterds. So, are we in for an Inglourious Basterds prequel? Apparently not yet — even though Tarantino says he has 40 pages of it written. He’s not giving up on the idea or the script, especially if the original film does well at the awards shows. But he’s got another project, which he’s keeping under wraps, coming first. It’s going to be “smaller, less epic” in scale than Basterds, and in a “different genre en

Sex and the City 2 Trailer

Sex and the City 2 Trailer Slip on your Manolos and grab a Cosmo, girls, because the first "Sex and the City 2" trailer is here! The nearly minute-and-a-half trailer reveals few plot points, but the sequel looks like another fun- and fashion-filled romp, centering around a girlfriend getaway to the desert. The trailer (see it after the jump!) opens with quick shots of New York City accompanied by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' seriously apropos hit "Empire State of Mind." "It's been two years and in two years, amazing things can happen," purrs Sarah Jessica Parker. Cut to Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) sauntering down a Big Apple sidewalk, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) baking cupcakes with her 2-year-old daughter Rose and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) doing something at what appears to be a wedding (the rumored Stanford Blatch-Anthony Marantino nuptials, perhaps?). The gal pals then hop on a plane and jet to the desert to "get carried far away," which explains th

Mayweather-Pacquiao In Jeopardy

Mayweather-Pacquiao In Jeopardy Nearly every detail is finalized for Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao to fight on March 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas but one. That one detail, though, may kill the fight. Negotiations are at an impasse over Pacquiao’s failure to agree to random Olympic-style drug testing, said Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, on Tuesday. Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach said his fighter is willing to comply with strict drug-testing standards, but Roach won’t allow Pacquiao to have blood drawn 48 hours before the fight. Ellerbe said he would not let Mayweather enter the ring unless Pacquiao agreed to it. Both sides agreed that the drug testing issue is the only hurdle preventing the fight from being finished. Earlier Tuesday, Golden Boy Promotions officially requested March 13 from the Nevada State Athletic Commission to host the show. “As Floyd’s management, we are insistent that there be a level playing field,” Ellerbe said. “This

Joel Silver Talks Upcoming Films, Swamp Thing,Sgt. Rock,Wonder Women and Lobo

Joel Silver Talks Upcoming Films. Swamp Thing,Sgt. Rock,Wonder Women and Lobo "Sherlock Holmes" producer Joel Silver has his hands full with films based on literary heroes these days, and as many comic book fans are aware, quite a few of those projects hail from the DC Comics universe. Since his name is attached to many of the projects we're most excited about these days, Silver offered MTV News a quick update on some of those projects during the "Sherlock Holmes" red carpet event last week. We pressed the comics-friendly producer for his thoughts on everything from "Swamp Thing" to "Lobo" and many of the other films drawing on DC's massive stable of characters. When asked about his previous comments regarding a 3-D "Swamp Thing" movie, Silver reiterated his belief that 3-D was the intended format for a film about DC's famous swamp creature. Of course, given the character's history as the subject of multiple live-action

Rapper T.I. Release Early From Jail. Nice To Be Rich

Rapper T.I. Release Early From Jail. Nice To Be Rich Rapper T.I. got an early Christmas present today. The rapper was released from prison to an Atlanta, Ga. halfway house, according to an interview with his attorney, Steve Sadow. T.I. (real name: Clifford J. Harris Jr.) had served nearly seven months of a one year and one day sentence at a federal prison in Arkansas stemming from a weapon charge. He was originally scheduled to be released on March 10, 2010. Sadow told the website xxlmag.com that "He's on his way back to the Atlanta area. He has to report to a halfway house in Atlanta sometime this evening. And he will then spend somewhere between the next two or three months in a halfway house, ending his Bureau of Prison sentence." T.I., 28, was arrested after trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers from undercover federal agents in 2007. That came after the rapper's best friend was killed following a party in Cincinnati in 2006. The rapper has said t

Bryan Singer Talks X-Men: First Class

Bryan Singer Talks X-Men: First Class Now that he's officially signed to develop and direct the film, Bryan Singer has begun to talk - at least, to drop hints - about mutant prequel pic X-Men: First Class. Singer admitted that while he couldn't talk specifically about the story (it's still a secret), he could lock down what part of the X-story it would cover. "It’s basically about the formation of the X-Men. How they began and the relationship between a young Xavier and a young Magneto." And since it'll borrow elements from Eric Lensherr's longer life, it's even more likely that the Magneto origin movie will be shoved back on the schedule as Fox concentrates on this. "This story would probably utilize some of the Magneto story because it deals with a young Magneto, so it might supersede that because this would explore that relationship between a young energetic professor and a disenfranchised victim of the Holocaust." But even First Class wi

Peter Jackson Developing Mortal Engines

Peter Jackson Developing Mortal Engines Wellington's Dominion Post, a newspaper published in the New Zealand home of Peter Jackson's Wingnut Films and the Weta Workshop, has broken the news that Jackson and Weta are working on adaptations of Philip Reeve's Mortal Engines quartet (known as The Hungry City Chronicles in the US: so let's hope we get to keep the UK titles and there's none of that Golden Compass nonsense). Reeve's series of children's novels takes place in a steampunk post-apocalyptic future where cities are mobile and perambulate the planet devouring each other for fuel: a system amusingly called Municipal Darwinism. The St Paul's Cathedral-topped London is the strongest of these Traction Cities, in a world where "old tech" is extremely sought after. The first novel, Mortal Engines itself, in a very small nutshell, involves an assassination attempt within the Historians Guild; the challenging of apprentice Historian Tom Natsworthy&

Twilight:Eclipse's Bryce Dallas Howard Talks Replacing Rachelle Lefevre.

Twilight:Eclipse's Bryce Dallas Howard Talks Replacing Rachelle Lefevre. In the upcoming third Twilight movie, Eclipse, Terminator Salvation's Bryce Dallas Howard will step in for Rachelle Lefevre as the evil vampire Victoria, and Howard said that the filmmakers took pains to make sure the transition was smooth. (Lefevre was let go last summer.) For one thing, the filmmakers will put a red wig on the otherwise red-haired Howard so that her tresses match those of Lefevre from the first two Twilight films. "I'm wearing a wig for that film," Howard said in a group interview last week in Los Angeles, where she was promoting The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond. Howard added that it was important to all involved that Victoria remain the same character. "There's a very grounded visual continuity for the character, which is critical," Howard said. (Spoilers ahead!) As readers know, Eclipse is the story in which Victoria becomes the biggest threat. She's been

The Karate Kid Trailer

The Karate Kid Trailer I was hoping that the movie and trailer would just be really bad. I am a huge Fan of the original film and was hoping this film would look horrible so that no one would waste a dime to go see the film when it hits theaters. But from what they showed on the trailer it doesn't look half bad. Not saying that I would go to see the film during the first weekend, but maybe when it hits the dollar theaters. I may take a chance on it. Sherry is offered a transfer to China. Considering the U.S office is about to lay off everyone, it’s really her only choice; especially since nobody else at the office has been offered a transfer. With her young son Dre (Jaden Smith) in tow, the single-mother makes Beijing her new home. Needless to say, not knowing Chinese, and experiencing a bit of culture shock, they both find it a little hard to settle in – – Dre especially. Like Daniel Larusso in the original film, Dre (who, unlike Larusso, is a skateboarding video-game buff) imme

Taylor Lautner To Make Vision Quest Remake

Taylor Lautner To Make Vision Quest Remake Taylor Lautner may be about to pin down another role. Seemingly seconds after he booked yet another post-Jacob job, sources tell E! News that the 17-year-old actor is in talks to put his New Moon abs to good use in a remake of the 1985 drama Vision Quest. Which is not what it sounds like--a cheesy sci-fi flick--but rather a coming-of-age romance that featured Madonna's "Crazy for You" as its theme song and that starred Matthew Modine as a high school wrestling star who falls in love with an artist--a permtastic Linda Fiorentino--his dad has taken in as a boarder. Why remake? Let's just rerelease that! But Taylor may have another vision. He could wind up playing an updated version of Modine's character in the still-in-development film, which counts Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill Entertainment (and Twilight and New Moon fame) as producers. We hear that Richard Munic has penned a screenplay that is "very f

"Kick-Ass" Red Band Trailer Featuring Hit-Girl

"Kick-Ass" Red Band Trailer Featuring Hit-Girl One reason why "Kick-Ass" is getting a ton of buzz is due to the character of Hit-Girl. Played by Chloe Moretz , she is 11 years old, she cusses, she kills people. This red band (red band!) trailer from IGN may show why she is a candidate for breakout actress/character of 2010. Much of the action images were seen at the "Kick-Ass'" Comic Con pane,l but it doesn't matter: There are still some doozies here. Please Leave A Comment- Source- THR

'Clash of the Titans' Film Complete. Only In A Fairy Tale

'Clash of the Titans' Film Complete. Only In A Fairy Tale "Clash of the Titans" is getting more epic -- and perhaps 3-D. I talked to Sam Worthington backstage last night at The Envelope's special screening of "Avatar" and the subject turned to "Clash of the Titans," the fantasy adventure due in March from director Louis Leterrier, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. The 33-year-old actor said that Warners, pleased with what they saw of Leterrier's work, had increased the budget for the film. "We're going to be going back and shooting more scenes for it, they cut loose with some money so we can add to it," Worthington told me as we sat in the green room. He was obviously very enthused about the studio's decision. Sigourney Weaver, Worthington's costar in "Avatar" and a friend of Leterrier's, was sitting next to us and listening in as well. Worthington went on: "We're going to be shooting more scen

Marvin the Martian Film Is In The Works

Marvin the Martian Film Is In The Works The Na'vi may be protecting Pandora this weekend, but come Christmas 2011, Marvin the Martian will try to destroy things here on Earth. And the producers are talking to a number of stars. One name that's come up is Mike Myers, no stranger to voice roles given his work on the Shrek franchise. The Looney Tunes character is getting his own movie -- and now that movie has a director and writers, and could soon even have a star to lend Marvin his voice. Warner Bros. and producer Alcon Entertainment (the company behind the fall sensation "The Blind Side") are bringing aboard a director named Alex Zamm to oversee the misadventures of the cartoon alien. Zamm is an up-and-comer who is also signed on to direct "Hong Kong Phooey," the film version of the 1970s Hanna Barbera cartoon (that movie, from some of the same producers, could still happen, but probably not before the Marvin film). The Marvin picture now also has writers

21 Jump Street Film Get Some Meatballs

21 Jump Street Film Get Some Meatballs Columbia Pictures is negotiating with the "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" helming team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller to direct "21 Jump Street," the pic based on the TV series that launched Johnny Depp. The film, about a group of baby-faced cops who go undercover at high schools, has been guided by Jonah Hill and Mike Bacall, who hatched the story together. Bacall wrote the script and Hill will star in the film and exec produce. Neal Moritz is producing with Stephen J. Cannell. The series, which ran from 1987-1990, was an early hit for the Fox Network. "21 Jump Street" is the first live-action feature directing assignment for the duo, who've worked together as co-exec producers on the CBS series "How I Met Your Mother" and "Clone High." They co-wrote "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," which was Lord's feature directing debut. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Variety

Nightmare On Elm Street Re Shoots and Friday The 13th News

Nightmare On Elm Street Re Shoots and Friday The 13th News Here's what Brad Fuller had to say: While many of you are enjoying a Christmas break I am working everyday on Elm Street. I have read all the rumors and want to make sure that you have the facts. We are doing a couple of days of reshooting Elm Street. People seem to be making a big deal about that fact. Elm Street is our 8th film and we've had reshoots for every film. As I have stated here many times, I try to read everything and I pay attention. The fans input has always been so valuable to me, and Elm Street is no exception. I don't want to get specific about what we are shooting, but suffice to say we heard you. After you've seen the film we can discuss what was reshot. I will say this though- nothing beats seeing Jackie back as Freddy- he works so hard to perfect his portrayal and leaves nothing to chance. Let's talk Friday 13th. We have busted our ass to get that movie going! The script is great- dare
