Could Jared Leto Kick Start TRON 3?

THR is reporting Disney is exploring the idea of a movie that would act as a Leto vehicle. Disney is planning to get back on the grid.

The studio is in the very early stages of development for a new Tron movie, with Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto circling to star.

Sources say this new project is not a direct sequel and is being built out of the source code of the deleted Tron 3 script. Leto would play a character named Ares, who has not appeared on screen before but was a key player in that script.

No writer has been hired at this exploratory stage, and no filmmaker is involved. Justin Springer, who co-produced Tron: Legacy and exec produced the Tom Cruise sci-fi movie Oblivion, will produce. Leto and and his producing partner Emma Ludbrook would also be involved in some producing capacity if the project moves forward.

Tron was the 1982 Disney movie set in the fantastic world inside a computer program, a cyberspace called the Grid. Starring Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner, the film wasn’t a hit at the time but was influential with its envelope-pushing special effects and drew a cult following in the years after due to its imaginative story.

In 2010, Disney revisited the world with Tron: Legacy, which starred Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde and brought back Bridges. Joseph Kosinski directed. The expensive movie made $400 million worldwide, good enough to warrant interesting in a sequel.

But it’s been a series of shutdowns and restarts for a sequel and just as it seemed it was heading towards pre-production, the studio pulled the plug for good in 2015.

But computer programs never die, it seems, they just get upgrades.

At this stage it's too early to tell if Kosinski or actors from Tron: Legacy will return.

Leto last portrayed the DC Comics villain The Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad. He will next appear with Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford in Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049, and is attached to direct Paramount's crime thriller 77.

EMILY BLUNT AS MARY POPPINS IN MARY POPPINS RETURNS

Here is the first glimpse of Golden Globe® winner Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins in “Mary Poppins Returns,” the all new sequel to Disney’s 1964 film “Mary Poppins.”

Directed and produced by Rob Marshall, “Mary Poppins Returns” also stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer and Julie Walters with Colin Firth and Meryl Streep. The film, which introduces three new Banks children, played by Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and newcomer Joel Dawson, also features Dick Van Dyke and Angela Lansbury.

The film is set in 1930s depression-era London (the time period of the original novels) and is drawn from the wealth of material in PL Travers’ additional seven books. In the story, Michael (Whishaw) and Jane (Mortimer) are now grown up, with Michael, his three children and their housekeeper, Ellen (Walters), living on Cherry Tree Lane. After Michael suffers a personal loss, the enigmatic nanny Mary Poppins (Blunt) re-enters the lives of the Banks family, and, along with the optimistic street lamplighter Jack (Miranda), uses her unique magical skills to help the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives. Mary Poppins also introduces the children to a new assortment of colorful and whimsical characters, including her eccentric cousin, Topsy (Streep). The film is produced by Marshall, John DeLuca and Marc Platt. The screenplay is by David Magee based on The Mary Poppins Stories by PL Travers with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman writing all new songs and Shaiman composing an original score.

“Mary Poppins Returns” will be released in U.S. theaters on December 25, 2018.

#JeremiahTower : #LastMagnificent Trailer

JEREMIAH TOWER: THE LAST MAGNIFICENT explores the remarkable life of Jeremiah Tower, one of the most controversial and influential figures in the history of American gastronomy. Tower began his career at the renowned Chez Panisse in Berkeley in 1972, becoming a pioneering figure in the emerging California cuisine movement.

After leaving Chez Panisse, due in part to a famously contentious relationship with founder Alice Waters, Tower went on to launch his own legendary Stars Restaurant in San Francisco. Stars was an overnight sensation and soon became one of America’s top-grossing U.S. restaurants. After several years, Tower mysteriously walked away from Stars and then disappeared from the scene for nearly two decades, only to resurface in the most unlikely of places: New York City’s fabled but troubled Tavern on the Green. There, he launched a journey of self-discovery familiar to anyone who has ever imagined themselves to be an artist. Featuring interviews by Mario Batali, Anthony Bourdain, Ruth Reichl and Martha Stewart, this delicious documentary tells the story of the rise and fall of America’s first celebrity chef, whose brash personality and culinary genius has made him a living legend.

The Orchard will release JEREMIAH TOWER: THE LAST MAGNIFICENT in NY and LA April 21, 2017

Travis Knight Tapped To Direct Transformers Bumblebee Spin-Off

File this one under "utterly unexpected director choices". It's not so much that Laika CEO Travis Knight, who last year directed the excellent Kubo And The Two Strings, has signed on to make the Transformers Bumblebee spin-off, more that we're a little surprised Knight would want to tackle such a film as his live-action debut. And yet: here we are.

The movie, which represents Paramount's first attempt to widen the Transformers universe, has been in development for a while, spawned from the writers' room set up by the studio to generate an expanded cinematic universe for the Autobots and Decepticons.

Christina Hodson has been at work on the script, with TF regulars Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Michael Bay acting as producers. The movie is intended to arrive in theaters next year, so Knight will have to put the pedal to the metal. As for Bay's current robo-conflict effort as director, Transformers: The Last Knight crashes in on 23 June.

Movie Review: #BEFOREIFALL

It's like a TV movie you'd watch on channels like The CW

RAMA delivers another review.

The way to best describe “Before I Fall” is.. it’s as if The CW has their own Groundhog Day-esque TV movie. It does have twists and turns and its own interesting take on this overly used concept about a day that keeps inexplicably repeating itself again and again. But it really doesn’t get more of a teen drama than “Before I Fall”

Zoey Deutch plays Samantha Kingston who seems to have it all, popular friends, popular boyfriend, Samantha’s even smart and very well-driven. The Valentine’s day is going well until the evening comes and a certain car crash happens that causes Samantha to relive the same day over and over again. She must then decide to figure out the mystery of why she’s stuck in that one single day and how she could make a difference in the lives of those around her.

Kudos to rising star, Zoey Deutch, I think she does a fine job of carrying this movie as the lead, she really captures the evolution of her character from getting frustrated to not giving a damn to accepting. It’s like going through fives stages of grief multiplied by how many ever times that her character has to wake up on the same day.

I think “Before I Fall” means well, it wants to teach high school-aged audiences not to be mean to those who are different, not to judge people by its cover, to realize that actions have consequences, all that good stuff your teacher or your parent is supposed to tell you already by now. It also features some of today’s most vibrant young actors including actress Halston Sage who I keep seeing in lots of movies in recent years including “Neighbors,” “Paper Towns,” “Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse,” it seems that when Hollywood needs a young blond who gives out popular girl vibe, they call Sage. But again, “Before I Fall” is too much of a teen drama, which lends itself to predictability, not to mention that even though it’s only 99 minutes long, it feels like a lifetime for Samantha to finally put the pieces together.

Movie Review: Table 19

I now pronounce this a waste of time.

Review by Brandon Wolfe

Eloise McGarry (Anna Kendrick) put in a lot of time and effort planning the wedding of her oldest friend. But after the bride’s brother/Eloise’s boyfriend, Teddy (Wyatt Russell, inheritor of none of Papa Kurt's charisma), dumped Eloise callously via text a few months back, Eloise was stripped of her maid-of-honor duties. As if that wasn’t enough of an indignity, she has also been relegated to the “loser table” at the wedding, Table 19. This is where guests who were courtesy-invited and didn’t have the good sense to RSVP in the negative go to die. Eloise finds herself seated alongside wizened ex-nanny Jo (June Squibb), eternally squabbling married couple Jerry and Bina Kepp (Craig Robinson and Lisa Kudrow), haplessly horny teen Renzo (Tony Revolori from The Grand Budapest Hotel) and social misfit Walter (Stephen Merchant). Together, the group forms an uneasy alliance, emerging as an unlikely support group both for getting through this wedding as well as for fixing each other’s broken lives.

This is the premise of Table 19, which comes from producer Shawn Levy, purveyor of many a mainstream atrocity, and from writers Mark and Jay Duplass, titans of dippy indie cinema, and it feels like a perfect cross-pollination of each party’s worst impulses. Table 19 wants to be both a broad comedy and low-key character study, but those two elements don’t mix well together. They could, if either component were up to snuff. Yet Table 19 is neither funny nor insightful. Its only true talent is leaving a lot of great talent hanging out to dry.

Even the setup is flawed. It makes sense that Eloise would feel awkward being around Teddy at the wedding, especially with a new squeeze (Amanda Crew) on his arm. Yet it never makes sense why she’s been downgraded so dramatically in guest status. She was the one on the business end of the breakup, not the instigator. After all her hard work, would she really get so thoroughly shafted as this? And if she has, why still go? It doesn’t help that the bride (Maria Thayer) is, inexplicably, barely even a character in the film. It might have shed a bit of light to have her weigh in.

Table 19 feels like the pilot episode of a bad single-camera network sitcom about a bunch of misfits finding each other, and it’s one I would never want to watch the second episode of. Its characters all play like sitcom archetypes. You’ve got the horny nerd, the inept weirdo, the Bickersons, the sassy old lady who likes to smoke pot; it’s the whole hacky, prime-time package. The cast is impeccable, yet only Merchant gets any honest laughs, so committed is he to his character’s goony awkwardness. The film’s humor also leans very heavily on pratfalls (that Renzo sure does fall down a lot). The film has a full roster of comedic heavy hitters and it asks them to play T-ball in a mud puddle.

And for as much as Table 19 flounders as a raucous comedy, never beginning to generate the momentum necessary to power the farce inherent to its single-location setting, it really bites it as a drama. Like many Duplass joints, the characters eventually retreat outside to the woods to talk about life and such, yet the characters are so shallow and their problems so uninteresting that it all fizzles. And when the film does try to dig deeper with Eloise’s character, establishing the circumstances behind her breakup with Teddy, it attempts to rewrite Teddy as a valid, genuine romantic lead after already having wholly cemented him as a loathsome lout. Table 19’s characters are so lacking in nuance that when it attempts to graft another side onto them, it comes off not as shading but as wild inconsistency.

Table 19 isn’t offensively bad, no more than any of the groan generator TV shows your parents love. But at even its meager 87-minute running time, it feels like a fat lot of nothing. RSVP no and don’t send a gift.

Blu-ray Review: #TrespassAgainstUs

The barely discernible Trespass Against Us can't decide what it is, and is therefore of little use to us.

Review by Matt Cummings

It's never a good sign when a major motion picture with A-list stars makes only $5,711 in its release. No, that's not a typo: Trespass Against Us made absolutely no money in its 2016 run, and the reasons become painfully clear as this snoozer unfolds. Rather than becoming a great crime drama or a terse family drama with violent resolutions, Trespass Against Us settles for far less and drags us down with it.

The Cutler family lives on the very edge of accepted social norms. Living in the country and burning trash to keep warm, the family's travel trailers form a circle of defense against their illicit activities, lead by the father Colby (Brendan Gleeson). He's a low-level gangster through and through, convinced that schools are terrible, the police are worse, and that family is all that protects him. His eldest son Chad (Michael Fassbender) doesn't agree: his marriage has produced two children and a relatively happy life. Having never attended school, Chad realizes that he cannot continue down the same path as his father, and makes plans to start a new life. Unfortunately, Colby has other plans, employing Chad in one more heist that draws the attention of all of Britain's police force. Unsure of how to break free from his father, and under intense scrutiny by the police, Chad begins a slow decent that will see his family loyalty tested while his manipulative father looks on.

Even at 99 minutes, Trespass Against Us is too long, dragging itself through its own mud of despair, hoping we'll empathize for people who commit crimes. Not likely. Moreover, this one will remind you of better British crime dramas, better family dramas, and better warnings against what not to do with your life. That's the whole of Trespass, and it fails to deliver in any category. Fassbender can't decide if Chad is a tough guy waiting for his chance or a misfit who needs the back hand of his father to shake him back to his side. Fraser, another top actor, sits around in his gym pants for most of the film, rather than go out on raids with his son. He's supposed to be the godfather of this crew but none of what he does is threatening beyond his carefully placed words. Speaking of which, you'll be hard pressed to find another movie recently where the human language is pulverized as much as it is here. I actually had to place the subtitles on just to follow it, and even then I was hearing British slang words that meant nothing to me.

There's never a sense that Trespass Against Us knows what it wants, either. Sean Harris is cast here as a truly damaged person, but speaks maybe three lines throughout, choosing instead to serve as the most extreme and disconnected member of the Cutler crime family. His antics are hardly questioned, and no one seeks to actually help Gordon with his mental illnesses. In fact, we never truly know why the Cutlers have continued to choose this life, nor are we ever afraid of them. They fail to either capture our hearts or scare us out of ours. Director Adam Smith's first foray is visually impressive on Blu-ray, while the audio is actually fairly immersive. But the lack of suitable supplements and meandering story with little resolution makes this a tough sell.

Trespass Against Us is a tired film about people no one can understand and can barely relate. It can't decide if it's a British crime story, a family drama, or an exercise in how not to live one's life. It squanders a great cast as it continually reminds us why not all films are actually film worthy. Skip this one, even as a rental - there are far better alternatives out there.

Trespass Against Us is rated R for pervasive language, some disturbing behavior and brief graphic nudity and has a runtime of 99 minutes.

Dave Chappelle Returns To #Netflix March 21st

He's back. And with plenty on his mind. Dave Chappelle returns with two stand-up specials from his personal comedy vault on March 21, only on Netflix.

Chappelle and director Stan Lathan will produce an original stand-up comedy special exclusively for Netflix.

Two additional never-before-seen specials come directly from Chappelle’s personal comedy vault. Directed by Lathan and filmed at Austin City Limits Live and The Hollywood Palladium, these represent Chappelle’s first concert specials in 12 years and are slated to be released simultaneously in 2017.

Chappelle is a stand-up comedian and actor whose trademark wit and sharp irreverent social commentary most often explores race, popular culture, sex, drugs, politics and fame. The panoramic monologue he delivered during his debut on Saturday Night Live — the highest rated SNL in three years – was the comic relief the country needed following the 2016 Presidential election that personified our nation’s deep racial divide.

Arguably the most prolific touring comic on the circuit, Chappelle has performed over 500 concerts in the past three years, selling out shows within minutes of the announcements. In 2014, Chappelle sold out an unprecedented 10 consecutive comedy performances at Radio City Music Hall. Chappelle’s engagement at Radio City marked his first announced performances in New York City in over 10 years. It also celebrated the 10th anniversary of his concert documentary, Dave Chappelle’s Block Party, filmed during the summer of 2004 in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Chappelle was the mastermind behind the 2003 sketch comedy hit, The Chappelle Show – one of the highest rated programs on Comedy Central. The show earned three Emmy nominations and went on to become one of the best-selling TV shows in DVD history.

War Machine Teaser Trailer Starring Brad Pitt & Tilda Swinton

An absurdist war story for our times, writer-director David Michôd (Animal Kingdom) recreates a U.S. General’s roller-coaster rise and fall as part reality, part savage parody – raising the specter of just where the line between them lies today. His is an exploration of a born leader’s ultra-confident march right into the dark heart of folly. At the story’s core is Brad Pitt’s sly take on a successful, charismatic four-star general who leapt in like a rock star to command NATO forces in Afghanistan, only to be taken down by a journalist’s no-holds-barred exposé.

The Netflix original film is inspired by the book The Operators: The Wild & Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan by the late journalist Michael Hastings. Joining Pitt in War Machine is a highly decorated cast including Tilda Swinton, Sir Ben Kingsley, Anthony Michael Hall, Topher Grace, Will Poulter, Lakeith Stanfield, Emory Cohen, John Magaro, RJ Cyler, Alan Ruck, Scoot McNairy and Meg Tilly. Ian Bryce and Plan B’s Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Brad Pitt serve as producers. James Skotchdopole serves as executive producer. The film will be released on Netflix on May 26, 2017.

Only on Netflix on 26 May.

#DonnieDarko Returns To Theaters To Celebrate The Official 15th Anniversary Release

Arrow Films has announced the March 31st domestic theatrical debut of the 4K restoration of Richard Kelly’s cult hit Donnie Darko. Following a wildly successful re-release in the UK for its fifteenth anniversary, the film will return to theaters in cities across the United States.

Fifteen years before “Stranger Things” combined science-fiction, Spielberg-ian touches and 80s nostalgia to much acclaim, Kelly set the template and the benchmark with his debut feature, Donnie Darko. Initially beset with distribution problems, it would slowly find its audience and emerge as arguably the first cult classic of the new millennium. The 4K restoration of Donnie Darko will premiere at the Vista in Los Angeles on March 30th, and officially open in Los Angeles at the Cinefamily and in New York at Metrograph on March 31st.

Described by director Richard Kelly as “The Catcher in the Rye as told by Philip K. Dick”, Donnie Darko combines an eye-catching, eclectic cast: pre-stardom Jake (Nightcrawler, Brokeback Mountain, Nocturnal Animals) and Maggie Gyllenhaal (“The Honourable Woman”, The Dark Knight), Jena Malone (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Neon Demon), the late heartthrob Patrick Swayze (Dirty Dancing, Ghost), Drew Barrymore (E.T., “Grey Gardens”, “Santa Clarita Diet”) Oscar nominees Mary McDonnell (Dances With Wolves, Passion Fish, “Battlestar Galactica”) and Katharine Ross (The Graduate, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Stepford Wives), and television favorite Noah Wyle (“ER”, “Falling Skies”) and an evocative soundtrack of 80s classics by Echo and the Bunnymen, Tears for Fears and Duran Duran.

The brand-new 4K restoration was produced by Arrow Films from the original camera negatives and supervised and approved by Kelly and cinematographer Steven Poster. The 4K restoration premiered to a packed audience at the National Film Theatre in London on December 17th, 2016, with an introduction by Richard Kelly. A screening of the Director’s Cut followed the next day. The re-release opened nationwide in the UK on December 23rd, eventually grossing £70,000.

Both the theatrical cut and the director’s cut are being made available to venues via a partnership with Cartilage Films, and locations will vary.

Donnie Darko will also return for weeklong runs in Denver, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Phoenix and San Francisco on March 31st, and in El Paso and Detroit on April 7.

Special screenings include Jacksonville, Austin, Dallas, Honolulu, Lubbock, Baton Rouge, Sioux Falls, Oklahoma City, Tucson, Durham and Stamford throughout March and April.

March 31st Theatrical Release:
The Cinefamily
611 N Fairfax Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90036

Metrograph
7 Ludlow St
New York, NY 10002

Streaming links and Blu-ray screeners are available for review consideration.
Donnie is a troubled high school student: in therapy, prone to sleepwalking and in possession of an imaginary friend, a six-foot rabbit named Frank, who tells him the world is going to end in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds. During that time he will navigate teenage life, narrowly avoid death in the form of a falling jet engine, follow Frank’s maladjusted instructions and try to maintain the space-time continuum.

Serinda Swan Cast In Marvel’s Inhumans

The 'Graceland' actress to star as Medusa, Queen of Attilan!

Serinda Swan (“Ballers,” “Graceland”) will star as Medusa in the “Marvel’s Inhumans” television series, the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family. In this series, Medusa is the Queen of the Inhumans and wife of Black Bolt — his most trusted advisor, a fiercely resilient warrior who has the ability to move and control her hair the way most people use their hands and fingers.

It was previously announced that a version of the first two episodes of the new ABC series will premiere exclusively in IMAX® theatres for a two-week window in September 2017, prior to the 8-episode network run.

“Marvel’s Inhumans,” were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe.

“Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character,” said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television and Executive Producer. “She is nothing short of wonderful.”

Added Executive Producer and showrunner Scott Buck, “Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan.”

Serinda will join recently announced Anson Mount (“Hell on Wheels”) who will play Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city and Iwan Rheon (“Game of Thrones,” “Misfits” “Vicious”) who will portray Maximus, a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, Black Bolt –though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.

“Marvel’s Inhumans” is executive produced by Scott Buck (“Dexter,” “Marvel’s Iron Fist”) along with Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” “Marvel’s Luke Cage”) and Jim Chory (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” “Marvel’s Luke Cage”) with Buck serving as showrunner. Roel Reine (“Admiral,” “Black Sails”) will direct the first two episodes. The series is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.

Stephen Moyer Cast In X-Men TV Show

With Bryan Singer on as a producer and directing the pilot, the X-Men TV spin-off is busy tracking down its cast. The latest recruit for the potential show is True Blood veteran Stephen Moyer.

Burn Notice creator Matt Nix is the show-running and writing force behind the pilot, which focuses on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive. Moyer will be the father, an ambitious lawyer called Reed who is trying to balance working for the District Attorney's office with his parental responsibilities. You've got to figure that needing to sherpherd his kids to a scrappy group of mutants won't help that balance.

Already in the cast are Blair Redford, who will play Sam, the stubborn leader of the network, and Jamie Chung, who has taken the role of teleporting mutant Blink.

Moyer was last seen on the small screen in the short-lived Kurt Sutter series The Bastard Executioner and has worked on police drama Shots Fired. He's also recently directed his first film, The Parting Glass.

Bill Paxton Passes Away At 61

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Bill Paxton yesterday. My wife and I met had the honor of meeting him a few years ago at a Comic Con party. We ended up hanging out with him and his wife pretty much the whole night. I was even asked to walk Bill back to his room so that he wouldn't be bothered by autograph seekers. They were both so nice. Of all our Comic Con experiences that night is one of my favorites.

Bill Paxton, a much-loved actor, director and producer, a scene-stealer able to play both moral and terrible characters with a raw charm, has died. He was 61.

Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas in 1955, Paxton frequently attended movies and other cultural events with his father and siblings from a young age. His interest in film and filmmaking started early too; studying in the UK at Richmond College he met two friends and began making Super 8 movies upon their return to Texas.

He moved to Los Angeles in 1974 to break into the industry, and got his first job as a production assistant on an industrial film for the Encyclopedia Britannica. From there, he found work as a set dresser for Roger Corman's New World Pictures on movies such as Big Bad Mama and Eat My Dust. He scored his first role, uncredited, on Jonathan Demme's Crazy Mama in 1975, and decided to focus more on acting. At 21, Paxton headed to New York to study acting with the famous Stella Adler, but though he was impressed with her methods, he dropped out after two years. Upon his return to LA, he made short film Fish Heads which debuted on Saturday Night Live, and began to land small roles while still working for Corman on movies such as Galaxy Of Terror. He impressed James Cameron when they worked together on Corman films, and scored a small part as a punk who attempts to rob Arnold Schwarzenegger' killer cyborg in The Terminator. The pair would go on to enjoy a fruitful collaboration (and deep friendship), with Paxton appearing in True Lies, Titanic and, in possibly his most memorable and quotable role, as Private Hudson in Aliens.

He enjoyed a varied career, and fans have loved his work on any number of movies including Twister, Weird Science, Near Dark, Predator 2, One False Move, Tombstone, Apollo 13, The Last Supper, A Simple Plan, Haywire, 2 Guns and Edge Of Tomorrow.

Turning his hand to more work behind the camera, Paxton directed (and appeared in) the excellent thriller Frailty, about a father driven to murder by what he claimed were visions. He also made golf drama The Greatest Game Ever Played and had been developing a new film.

On the small screen, the actor made his mark with shows such as Big Love, Hatfields & McCoys, Miami Vice, and, more recently, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., in which he impressed as the villainous John Garrett. He was currently working on the TV version of Training Day and will be seen in techno thriller The Circle.

Paxton was married to Louise Newbury and is survived by his two children, James and Lydia Paxton.
