Get Him To The Greek Trailer-Forgetting Sarah Marshall Spin-Off

Get Him To The Greek Trailer-Forgetting Sarah Marshall Spin-Off

Here's the trailer for Universal's spin-off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall ,Get Him To The Greek.

The film, which was also written by Stoller, is scheduled for release in June of 2010. Get Him to the Greek is a spin-off from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, reuniting director Stoller with stars Hill and Brand. Brand reprises his character Aldous Snow from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, while Hill plays an entirely new character. The film was originally titled Get Me to the Gig.

Aaron Green (Hill) gets things done. The ambitious 24—year—old has been given a career—making assignment. His mission: Fly to London and escort a rock god to L.A.’s world famous Greek Theatre for the first—stop on a huge comeback tour. His record mogul boss, Sergio Roma (Sean Combs), gives him one warning: “The artist is the worst person on Earth. Turn your back on him at your own peril.” British rocker Aldous Snow (Brand) is a brilliant musician, but due to a bad break up and nose—diving career, has fallen off the wagon and is now a drunken disaster. Weary of “yes men” and scared he’s entered the “greatest hits” moment in his career, Snow’s in the midst of a nihilistic downward spiral. When he learns his true love, model/pop star Jackie Q (Rose Byrne), is in Los Angeles, Aldous makes it his quest to win her back…right before kick—starting his world domination. As the countdown to the concert begins, one innocent young man must navigate a minefield of London drug smuggles, New York City brawls and Vegas lap dances to deliver his charge safe and, sort of, sound… all while trying to remain faithful to his med student girlfriend (Elisabeth Moss). He may have to coax, lie to, enable and party with Aldous, but Aaron will get him to the Greek.

Toy Story 3 2nd Full Trailer

Today must be Toy Story 3 day with 2 new trailer hitting the web. The one below is the second full trailer to come out. While watching the trailer my kids got a kick out of Ken when he introduced himself to barbie.

In the third installment, Andy grows up and gets ready to leave for college, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and all the other toys end up being donated to Sunnyside Daycare by accident. There are plenty of spare parts and batteries at Sunnyside, plus lots of children, all ready for playtime. Unfortunately, being played with by the youngest toddlers turns out to be torture. And Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear, the leader of the daycare toys, does nothing to help. To make matters worse, Buzz seems to have joined forces with Lotso. Only Woody is daring enough to plan an escape! Will he succeed and save the toys?

Terminator 5 and 6 Have There Treatment From Bill Wisher

Terminator 5 and 6 Have There Treatment From Bill Wisher

With the sale of the Terminator franchise to Pacificor AKA Skynet. Here is an update on the possible next to films. But first let me tell you something of a jewel for all you Terminator fans.

And if you happen to be in the Burbank area there this something extra special for all you Terminator fans This weekend end only at the the Hollywood Show will you be able to meet Linda Hamilton (Sarah Conner), Michael Biehn (Kyle Reese), Edward Furlong (John Conner) Kristanna Loken ("Terminatrix"/TX) and Robert Patrick (T-1000), I will be attending this event and plan to bring some exclusive interview with the star. To view the entire list click Here.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program

Here is a new twist in the game deadline is reporting that Bill Wisher (the writing partner on the first two Terminator films ) has scripted a detailed 24-page treatment for Terminator 5, and a 4-page concept outline for Terminator 6? And that I’ve read both?

After all, it’s not clear at this point whether Pacificor — or Sony and Lionsgate, the most likely studios to ultimately make the next installments — will engage him to write the final installments. But I’ve received permission to disclose some high points:

Wisher’s 2-picture construct takes place in a post-apocalyptic battleground, and factors in an element of time travel that allows for Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese to interact beyond their single fateful meeting when he traveled back in time to protect her in the original film. Wisher has created a role for Arnold Schwarzenegger that is as surprising as his shift from villain in the first film, to John Connor’s bodyguard in the second. Schwarzenegger wouldn’t be needed until the final film, which wouldn’t shoot until after he ends his term as California Governor. And who wouldn’t want to see Linda Hamilton back in aerobic top fitness form as Sarah Connor?

There are several new villains, and plenty of firepower. For instance, a swarm of “Night Crawlers,” 4 1/2-foot tall border sentries that are set like mines to spring up out of the ground and ambush rebel fighters with 10 MM pistols built into their wrists, and fingers and feet that are razor sharp. Also fresh off the Skynet assembly line are new shape-shifting cyborgs that can morph together in Transformers-like mode, and are more lethal than anything we’ve seen in previous Terminator installments.

Wisher presents a satisfying conclusion to what by then would be a 6-picture struggle between Skynet’s machines and John and Sarah Connor to preserve a future that allows mankind to prevail over the machines.

PTC Getting Excited About Howard Stern For Nothing

PTC Getting Excited About Howard Stern For Nothing

Why would Fox think it would be a good idea to have Howard Stern act as a judge for next years American Idol? Does he have any musical talent at all? Didn't think so.

Maybe they are thinking that with Simon moving on to his new show they will need someone to help keep the ratings going.

Now, I've stayed quiet on the Stern stuff because the whole notion seemed ridiculous from the outset. Do you think Fox would risk its top-rated family-friendly franchise by putting Stern on the air? Correction: On the air live? And despite his popularity among radio listeners, the man is Kryptonite to TV advertisers -- just ask E!, which used to run his talk show. Fox wants ads from Coca-Cola and Ford, not Valtrex and phone sex lines.

And now we get this

The Parents Television Council has extended its broadcast TV neurosis to a new level: issuing press releases about events that have not happened.

Usually, something actually has to occur on television for the PTC to get upset. Dirty language. Boobies. Etc. Now the PTC is upset about rumors that Fox is considering Howard Stern to judge "American Idol" ... even though Fox hasn't said a word.

“Fox should move immediately to repudiate these rumors and instead commit publicly to keeping ‘American Idol’ safe for family viewing..." blah blah.

At any rate, PTC is demanding Fox clarify its stance on Stern. Here's why the network is probably going to stay silent: There are two institutions no semi-smart media company will comment on. One is Howard Stern, the other is the PTC, and both for the same reason -- they're publicity mongers that will use anything you say to make themselves seem more important.

New Line To Take Us On "Vacation" Again

New Line To Take Us On "Vacation" Again

New Line is Going to bring us another "Vacation" film soon. The movie has brought in Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley to write the newest film.

The latest project, which will no longer carry the National Lampoon credit, is being described as more of an update than a sequel and will be closer in tone to "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" than the previous chapters. Story will focus on Rusty Griswold, now a grown man, who decides to take his own wife and kids on a road trip to Wally World before it closes forever. Chase is expected to reprise his role as Clark Griswold, now a grandfather.

"Vacation" marks Goldstein and Daley's fourth project at New Line in 2½ years. Most recently, they did an overhaul of "Horrible Bosses," about three friends who resolve to kill their employers. Seth Gordon ("King of Kong") is directing. Duo are rewriting "Burt Wonderstone" about a prominent Vegas magician who falls from grace, and they sold original spec "The $40,000 Man" to the company in 2007. In addition, they are penning another original, "Cal of the Wild," for DreamWorks.

Waking Sleeping Beauty Documentary Getting Limited Release

Waking Sleeping Beauty Documentary Getting Limited Release

Waking Sleeping Beauty is a documentary that we have heard incredible news about, and I am excited to finally see it with my own eyes. This is documentary is for the hard core and casual Disney fan out there. The documentary is a behind the scenes look at Disney and what what happened behind close doors from 1984-1994.

The guys over at /Films were some of the lucky few that have already seen the documentary and explains that the film follows the stories behind the creation of some of Disney's most beloved films such as Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King and more, and chronicles the growing power struggle between Jeffrey Katzenberg, Michael Eisner and Roy Disney. We learn about how creativity somehow thrived in this environment of corporate chaos. The film is not your typical talking head doc, and is wisely presented almost entirely using archival footage cut from over 250 hours of footage, photos, and cut with narration from newly recorded audio interviews. A lot of the footage has never been seen before, in any film or making of doc, ever.

Walt Disney Pictures will give the documentary a limited release in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco on March 26, 2010. In New York, the film will open at the Landmark Sunshine. In Los Angeles, the film will open on two screens, at the AMC Century City and AMC Burbank. In Chicago, the film will open at the AMC River East and in San Francisco at the Landmark Embarcadero all on March 26, 2010.

Here's the official plot synopsis:

Waking Sleeping Beauty is no fairytale. It is a story of clashing egos, out of control budgets, escalating tensions… and one of the most extraordinary creative periods in animation history.

Director Don Hahn and producer Peter Schneider, key players at Walt Disney Studios Feature Animation department during the mid1980s, offer a behind-the-magic glimpse of the turbulent times the Animation Studio was going through and the staggering output of hits that followed over the next ten years. Artists polarized between the hungry young innovators and the old guard who refused to relinquish control, mounting tensions due to a string of box office flops, and warring studio heads create the backdrop for this fascinating story told with a unique and candid perspective from those that were there. Through interviews, internal memos, home movies, and a cast of characters featuring Michael Eisner, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Roy Disney, alongside an amazing array of talented artists that includes Don Bluth, John Lasseter, and Tim Burton, Waking Sleeping Beauty shines a light on Disney Animation’s darkest hours, greatest joys and its improbable renaissance.

Akira Remake To Be Directed By The Hughes Brothers

Akira Remake To Be Directed By The Hughes Brothers

Looks like Warner Bros. is going to give the go ahead on the long awaited Akira film. After the job that the Hughes Brothers did on The Book Of Eli looks like Warner Bros. has found its team for this upcoming film.

They are going to be making two films due to the length on the six-volume manga that the film will be based on.

Even if you had read all of Katsuhiro Otomo’s epic 1982 manga and/or seen his own 1988 anime adaptation, summarizing the plot to Akira would still prove a bit of a challenge. As near as we can figure, Akira is about the leader of a biker gang who tries to save his kidnapped pal from a powerful supernatural experiment. (It might also be a psycho-philosophical exploration of corruption, the will to power, and the maturation of man and mankind, but we were actually pretty high when we first saw it in college, so please don’t hold us to that.)

The Expendables First Reviews Are In

The Expendables First Reviews Are In

Lionsgate threw a party last night and did a test screening of the upcoming film The Expendables and from what has been travling online they has been pretty good.

If you were in your teens in the late 80's early 90's you always thought how cool would it be to see Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone in a film together kicking ass. Well your time has come.

Spoiler Alert

This review is from collider reader “TexMexes”

Ever heard of a little movie called The Expendables?!?!

Well, I did, and I swore I would never return to Chatsworth unless I had a good enough reason… Last night, Sly gave me 7 — Rourke, Crews, Couture, Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren!!!!

These are the guys who make up The Expendables, a group of merceneraries hired to overthrow an evil dictator (David Zayas from Dexter) and his crew of thugs (Eric Roberts, Steve Austin and assorted soldiers in black face paint).

If the plot sounds simple to you — it is. You walk into a movie like this expecting to see ACTION and CAST, and I have to say, I saw some of the most famous action stars of our time sharing the screen and killing baddies in ways I never even knew possible.

Here are my thoughts on the film. I’ve never posted anything like this before, but I’ve only ever been to completely shitty advance screenings before (LAND OF THE LOST anyone?).

THE CAST:

We all knew this film had the greatest action stars of all time in one film together, but I was worried coming in that there wouldn’t be enough screen time / dialogue to make the film feel meaty…

Safe to say, Stallone has written a script that gives plenty of bits to every Expendable. Obviously, Statham is the winner here as the knife expert. His character (the badass with a heart) is played perfectly and his fight scenes are absolutely amazing. Trust me, you will look at knives with a newfound respect.

My second fave was Mickey Rourke, the tattoo artist of the gang, who acts as the wise sage throughout the film (think: The Wrestler but with guns instead of elbow drops).

Jet Li definitely has the comedy throughout the film, playing “the little guy” as he shows everyone what’s what… Lundgren was a bit of a miss for me, but only because I couldn’t understand half the stuff he was saying. Terry Crews and Randy Couture both fill in their roles excellently (esp Crews, the ammunitions expert, with his magic bullets).

Stallone — He’s in virtually every scene as the ringleader, but I was impressed by how he kind of hangs back and lets all of these other great action stars play out their roles.

As for the bad guys, obviously Eric Roberts is pitch-perfect evil incarnate. He was born to play a bad guy. Steve Austin is a solid block of beast. (There’s a fight scene in a tunnel at the end of the movie where he just Won’t Go Down.) David Zayas from Dexter surprised me as the dictator, although I could’ve done without the beret.

I think the biggest news, aside from all of these BIG NAMES, were 2 guys that I didn’t even know were fully confirmed for The Expendables — ARNOLD (The Governator) and BRUCE WILLIS. They have a hilarious scene together that’s very tongue in cheek. I’m really surprised Arnold was in this and said the things he said. (I won’t spoil the dialogue.) It just made the entire film come together in a really unique way.

THE ACTION:

Aside from THE CAST, blood is what we came to see, am I right?? Having seen all of the Rambos and really admired Rambo 4, I would label the action as a throwback to the vintage 80s actions movies we all know and loved (First Blood comes to mind).

Obviously, Sly is no James Cameron - and he doesn’t care to be. This isn’t a film you watch with 3-D glasses on. This is a throwback to the pre-special effects days and I found that jarring at first - What, a movie with no blue people?! - but as the film went on, I was cheering and pumping my fists with the rest of the crowd.

As for specific scenes, there are a number of memorable ones that I’m sure we’ll be dissecting for ages - Statham on the basketball court, the explosion on the dock, the tunnel fight and especially the extended climax at the end (where nothing and no one is left standing).

Snake Plissken To Stay a 'Bad-Ass.'" In Reboot

Snake Plissken To Stay a 'Bad-Ass.'" In Reboot

Sure you are tried of hearing the same old news, another reboot. Well sorry to tell you they are going to reboot the classic John Carpenter film Escape From New York. New Line Cinema is quickly moving forward thanks to a rewrite from Allan Loeb, the man who rescued the Wall Street sequel from development limbo over at Fox. A big reason for the fast track was creative: Loeb nailed the humor in Plissken without slipping into camp, and he changed Snake’s rescue-mission target from a president to a female senator, thereby upping the banter quotient. But just as big a factor was economic: They found a much cheaper way to turn Manhattan into a giant prison.

And more importantly, good ol' Snake remains largely the same. Legally, he has to be. We learned that in order to land the rights, New Line had to sign a contract with John Carpenter stipulating, among other things, that Plissken
"must be called 'Snake'"; "must wear an eye patch"; and that he would — and we're not making this up — "always be a 'bad-ass.'"

In the original, set at the end of World War III, New York City was a husk of itself after being turned into a giant prison, but that kind of destruction gets pricey.* So in Escape 2.0, the Big Apple that the as-yet-uncast Snake Plissken is dropped into will be geographically undesirable, but intact: This Manhattan was evacuated and turned into a privately run penal colony after the detonation of a crude radioactive dirty bomb on the outskirts of the city. “It is not a disaster movie,” says a source close to the project. “It is an exposé of an ecosystem, if you put a huge wall around Manhattan and then dropped in the most fucked-up, dangerous criminals on Earth.” This means New York will still be recognizable to audiences, à la I Am Legend, rather than an entirely new Armageddon Island. (Previous scribe David Kajganich, who wrote The Invasion, is credited with this solution.)

The first feature trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's adaptation of The Last Airbender, has arrived and we got it for you.

The trailer that you saw during the Superbowl was just a teaser, this is the full trailer for the upcoming film.

From what I have seen I am really looking forward to seeing this film, with really having no back ground on the story at all, I can go into it with fresh eyes.

Based off of the Nickelodeon's popular animated series,
THE LAST AIRBENDER is set in a world where human civilization is divided into four nations: Water, Earth, Air and Fire. The Fire Nation is waging a ruthless, oppressive war against the other three nations. The film’s hero, the reluctant young Aang (Noah Ringer), is the “Last Airbender” — the Avatar who, according to prophecy, has the ability to manipulate all of the elements and bring all the nations together. Aided by a protective teenage Waterbender named Katara (Nicola Peltz) and her bull-headed brother Sokka, Aang proceeds on a perilous journey to restore balance to their war-torn world. Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) plays the Fire Nation’s evil prince Zuko. Exiled from the Fire Nation by his father, Zuko is sent to capture the Avatar in order to restore his honor and right to the throne.

Stan Lee To Star In "Super Seven" Comics

Stan Lee To Star In "Super Seven" Comics

Looks like Stan Lee is finally going to star in his own comic series called "Super Seven" which will be brought to us by Andy Heyward's recently launched A Squared Entertainment and Archie Comics.

Lee, the Marvel legend and chairman and founder of POW!, is creating "Seven," about seven aliens who find themselves stranded on Earth after their spaceship crashes and are befriended by Lee himself. Taking them under his care, Lee becomes their leader and enables them to resume their lives as superheroes.

"Although I've briefly appeared in other comics, 'Super Seven' is the first time that I'll actually be a continuing character in a far-out, original superhero series," Lee said.

"Seven" does not fall under the agreement between POW! and Disney, which this year acquired a 10% stake in Lee's company for $2.5 million.

Christopher Nolan To Lend A Helping Hand To Superman Franchise

Christopher Nolan To Lend A Helping Hand To Superman Franchise

Looks like Warner Bros. is trying to reboot the Superman franchise again, but the really big news is that they are enlisting the help of The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan

Our insiders say that the brains behind rebooted Batman has been asked to play a "godfather" role and ensure The Man Of Steel gets off the ground after a 3 1/2-year hiatus. Nolan's leadership of the project can set it in the right direction with the critics and the fans, not to mention at the box office. ...

Let us emphasize that Superman 3.0 is in the early stages of development. And we doubt Nolan would direct. This wouldn't be a sequel to Superman Returns but a completely fresh franchise. As one of our insiders reassures: "It would definitely not be a followup to Superman Returns."

"Alpha Dog" Gets Sentenced To Life

"Alpha Dog" Gets Sentenced To Life

The man who inspired the movie "Alpha Dog" was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Jesse James Hollywood, who was portrayed by Emile Hirsch, was sentenced on February 5th for the crime he committed 10 years ago. The killing of Nicholas Markowitz in California.

If you have never seen this movie, go out and rent it. I was in awe about this whole story. It was just so interesting and complicated. The film also star Justin Timberlake, Bruce Willis and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek)

I was living in Santa Barbara during this time and had heard only a little about it. Once I saw the movie I was captured by the story and the news that followed.

During filming, Santa Barbara County Deputy District Attorney Ronald J. Zonen provided copies of many documents on the case and served as an unpaid consultant to the film, citing his desire to have Hollywood captured. Zonen prosecuted Hollywood’s co-defendants and was poised to prosecute Hollywood. After Hollywood was captured in Saquarema, Brazil and subsequently returned to the United States, his defense lawyer claimed there was a conflict of interest, and the California Court of Appeal for the Second District ruled on October 5, 2006 that, based on Zonen's disclosure of the files and consultant service—he should be recused from further involvement in prosecuting Hollywood. On December 20, 2006, the California Supreme Court granted review on the case effectively staying the order to recuse Zonen. On May 12, 2008, the California Supreme Court ruled that Zonen should not be rescued. Nonetheless, Zonen was replaced as lead prosecution attorney by Deputy Dist. Atty. Joshua Lynn.

In addition, Hollywood's attorney James Blatt tried to block the release of the movie.

After the delay, Hollywood's trial started May 15, 2009 with the defense's opening statements saying Hollywood was not involved with the murder. In his opening statement, Lynn described Hollywood as "a ruthless coward." On July 8, 2009 he was convicted of kidnapping and first-degree murder with special circumstances for which he can face the death penalty.

"Priest" Gets Put back Into The Dark

"Priest," the Screen Gems post-apocalyptic vampire movie starring Paul Bettany, has shifted its release date again.

The Scott Stewart-directed movie is getting the 3D treatment and will now be released Jan. 14, 2011. The new date puts the movie in similar territory as the recent "Legion," the Stewart-Bettany action-thriller that opened Jan. 22. The movie has done OK for Screen Gems, amassing almost $31 million so far.

"Priest" is based on a graphic novel by Min-Woo Hyung and sees Bettany as a warrior priest who teams up with a young sheriff (Cam Gigandet) and a priestess (Maggie Q) to track down a band of renegade vampires.

Pixar's Cars 2 Delayed Till End Of 2011

Pixar's Cars 2 Delayed Till End Of 2011

Sorry all you Cars fans looks like the film is being pushed back till December of 2011.

During Walt Disney Company's first quarter 2010 earnings call on Tuesday, company President and CEO Bob Iger mentioned that Disney•Pixar's Cars 2 will be released in theaters in December of 2011.

The film was previously scheduled for a release on June 24, 2011 and this move would leave that release slot empty for now. Warner Bros. Pictures is releasing Green Lantern on June 17, 2011 and Michael Bay's Transformers 3 is targeted for a July 1, 2011 release. We're guessing another movie will quickly jump to June 24 spot, although Paramount moved up Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to a Tuesday night/Wednesday release in 2009, so that is another possibility for the third film.

Disney•Pixar had scheduled a December, 2011 release for The Bear and the Bow. We assume that film will be moved as well.

In the Brad Lewis-directed Cars 2, all the world's a racetrack as racing superstar Lightning McQueen zooms back into action, with his best friend Mater in tow, to take on the globe's fastest and finest. Mater and McQueen will need their passports as they find themselves in a new world of intrigue, thrills and fast-paced comedic escapades around the globe.

Saw Franchise Coming To An End

Saw Franchise Coming To An End

Looks like a franchise is going to becoming to an end. About time

I feel that the first 3 films were great and a great concept of horror films and now they just seem repetitive and are just stretching the story.

They good guys over at Latino Review talked to Melton:

"I think it's going to end with Saw VII. I have a very strong feeling its going to end with Saw VII. That's something we're debating now. You saw in previous interviews or discussions where we thought Saw VIII would be the last one where we had the first trilogy and the second trilogy and then sort of a grand finale wrapped up in two films. But frankly because Saw VI hasn't performed as well as we anticipated, the idea is well why make two movies when we can make one really excellent movie that wraps up as best we can? And it's going to be in 3-D which sort of adds to the spectacle. So if you had to ask me, I don't own the franchise, nor do I run the studio, but I have a feeling, a strong feeling that it's going to be Saw VII which will be also known as Endgame. And nothing's official yet, but that's where we're hoping things will go."

As far as an entire franchise reboot goes (because you know that's at least being considered), Melton claims he's never heard of such talk, saying "maybe ten years from now", adding "At this point everyone is very focused on making Saw VII and seeing if we can make this sort of the grand finale."

Crazy Heart Movie Review By:Windy

Crazy Heart Movie Review
By:Windy

SandwichJohnFilms Residential movie reviewer went out and saw Crazy Heart and came in with this review. Also stop by Windy's home page and let her know what a great job she is doing.

And this ain’t no place for the weary kind
And this ain’t no place to lose your mind
And this ain’t no place to fall behind
Pick up your crazy heart and give it one more try

“Crazy Heart”, starring Jeff Bridges, opens with Bridges’ familiar tin singing a country tune. His voice is immediately recognizable and the melody of the song sets the tone for the film: lost, somber, perhaps even helpless.

Bad Blake, as Bridges’ character is known in the film, is a stereotypical down-and-out country singer who’s had one too many whiskeys, way too many women, and far too many years without a hit. He isn’t pretty to look at – disheveled, pants unbuttoned, visibly drunk and at times stumbling. However, Bridges brings a unique honesty and humbleness to the role. He’s an actor with decades of experience and over 75 film credits playing a stereotyped character in an initially limited-release film (which is gaining wider distribution based on increased interest in Bridges’ performance). Yet he puts all his heart into this character. He makes Bad Blake real – as real as Johnny Cash or any other country singer who has hit rough patches. His performance is truly effortless and if it weren’t for the fact that there’s been so much buzz about it, I would have thought I was watching Bad Blake – not Jeff Bridges.

Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Jean Craddock, Blake’s love interest in the film. Gyllenhaal is in her element, where she is most comfortable and most believable – the not-quite-mainstream films. Unlike “A Dark Night”, where she just didn’t fit with the role and type of movie, Gyllenhaal comfortably plays a single mother falling for the bad boy, or in this case the “Bad Blake.” Craddock’s self-awareness is tangible as you feel her struggle with her decisions about getting involved with a drunk, unreliable traveling singer at the expense of her son’s upbringing.

Though physically, Gyllenhaal and Bridges don’t quite fit, their characters fall together perfectly in the film.

Colin Farrell plays Bad Blake’s protégé who has succeeded him in life, yet is given little credit for the role. Unfortunately, his part is small and out of his usual acting element. He doesn’t add much to the film.

What’s most interesting about this film is the fact that everything is stereotypical – the down-and-out, drunk, has-been country singer, the girl who knows it’s bad to get involved with him but does, the agent who wears either a bathrobe or snakeskin boots, the protégé who’s now more successful than his mentor – but it all works perfectly. Each character is played so true to what they represent, you forget about the stereotypes and are genuinely interested in the story line. This is a true feat of the actors – bringing soul to characters that could have easily been empty shells.

7 out of 10 sandwiches and a likely Oscar for Jeff Bridges.

Tom Cruise Is Set For Mission Impossible 4

Tom Cruise Is Set For Mission Impossible 4

Ah snaps with my finger in a Z formation. Tom Cruise will be coming back as Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible 4. This is really great news for me having a man crush on TC.

Screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are already attached to write the script. The intention is to make this Cruise's next film and start shooting by summer for a Memorial Day 2011 weekend release. And I can definitively say that, despite chatter to the contrary, IM4 will be very much of an Ethan Hunt pic with Cruise as the main character.

" I hear Paramount is really excited about relaunching the franchise, which has grossed over $1.4 billion globally. “Tom and J.J. are great talents and we are excited to be working with them to re-launch this legendary franchise,” said Paramount Pictures Chairman & CEO Brad Grey.

Terminator Franchise Sold To Underdog

Terminator Franchise Sold To Underdog

Doesn't look like Skynet had enough cash to buy the franchise, and it is in the hands of Pacificor. Is this the company that starts SkyNet? Maybe we should ask our friends over at TheArnoldFans. I know they would have the answer.

The franchise sold to Pacificor yes the same Santa Barbara-based hedge fund Pacificor. (This is the same Pacificor whom Halcyon accused in a lawsuit of extortion, bribery, and fraud and demanded $30M in damages.) Say what?

Furious Sony Pictures Entertainment and Lionsgate bidding war was going on and then Bam Pacificor sneaks right in and Terminates them both at the last Minute.

Sony and Lionsgate dropped out at just under $29.5 million when it became clear that Pacificor "was willing to pay almost any amount of money for Terminator," an insider tells me. Halcyon will receive $5 million for every Terminator movie made from now on, as well as retains the rich revenue streams from the movies Terminator 3 and 4. Sources behind Halcyon claim to me that the arrangement made now wipes out the debt Halcyon owed to Pacificor and all the other creditors.

Here's alittle back story on the divorce of the franchise:

Back on May 9, 2007, rights to the Terminator series passed from producers Andy Vajna and Mario Kassar to the privately funded Halcyon Co (formed by entrepreneurs Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson) for a reported $30 million. It was Pacificor that lent Halcyon the money to conclude the deal. Once Pacificor pushed Halcyon into Chapter 11, the Terminator franchise went up for sale. Lionsgate was selected as the stalking horse bidder with a ground floor offer of $15 million. Obviously the Hollywood entities kicking the tires on this rights offer, including Summit Entertainment and Media Rights Capital, didn't think this character/concept was played out. After all, Terminator 4: Salvation made $380M worldwide. But who knows what Pacificor will plan for the project now...

Katherine Heigl is set to star in an upcoming film called "One for the Money" which is based on the Janet Evanovich novel of the same name. She will play Stephanie Plum who is an unemployed lingerie buyer who becomes a bounty hunter to make ends meet.

Just sounds like a bad idea, Hollywood movie studios have faith in her, which u can not argue with.Heigl last film "The Ugly Truth," earned more than $200 million in worldwide.Go figure.

I really have no idea why she appeals to people?

Evanovich's Plum series is up to 15 novels, all with titles that have a number theme. A 16th Plum novel hits shelves this summer.

Reese Witherspoon was previously attached to take on the role, but the project has been dormant for several years. Heigl's interest has put the project back on the fast track, with Andrea Giannetti overseeing for the studio. Col and Lakeshore will next look to attach a director.

24 Movie Getting Closer To Reality

24 Movie Getting Closer To Reality

Looks like Jack Bauer might be making his way to the big screen soon. Fox hasn't decide to pick the show up for the 9th season yet, but there is talks that Billy Ray ( Man behind State of Play) Maybe writing a script.

Looks like it is all going to depend on how the ratings for the show are this year to whether they make the movie.

In January, star Kiefer Sutherland told EW
that he’d love to do a movie (“It would be a two-hour representation of a day”) and thinks the TV show can actually be done at the same time. ”I actually tried to convince a few people of this. In a media world that is changing unbelievably fast, a television series can either act as a great trailer for a film, or a film can act as a great trailer for a television series. And I think the first person who actually does that is going to change the way television interacts with feature films.

“I think the resistance to it is because, in my father’s generation, if you did films, you didn’t even think about television,” Sutherland continued. “That was a death knell. And if you did television, you wouldn’t be allowed to do films. That was when we had three networks. We have six hundred now, and if I want to see Paul Newman in a movie, I don’t have to go out. And so the game has changed. And I think we’re going to have to adjust with it.”

"Contagion" Up Next For Matt Damon

"Contagion" Up Next For Matt Damon

So just how good is Scott Z. Burns' "Contagion" script? It's so good that Steven Soderbergh decided to push everything else aside to fast track it for a fall start. An action-thriller about the outbreak of a deadly virus, from what we've heard, Burns' script is a multi-strand film not unlike the Academy award-winning "Traffic" that Soderbergh helmed in 2000. Our sources tell us the story takes place over four continents and is "terrifying."

The project has attracted the likes of Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Marion Cotillard who all have deals closing to star in the film. With the cast in place, Soderbergh and his people are now shopping the project around town with co-financing already in place from Participant Productions. Undoubtedly with a great cast already locked, and with comparisons to "Traffic" and "Bourne" being thrown around, this one will get snapped up quick. For Burns, it continues his run of projects with both Soderbergh and Damon. Having scripted "The Informant!" and co-written, "The Bourne Ultimatum," he's clearly delivering the kind of work both of these guys like.

So what about Soderbergh's long-gestating "Liberace"? No worries there, as it's simply going to film after "Contagion" in early 2011 with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon still on board. And of course, the endlessly restless director is currently hard at work shooting his martial arts spy flick "Knockout."

Our source also tells us that Soderbergh switched up this project and "Liberace" because it was more time sensitive; there are a couple other projects out there brewing with the same subject matter in mind and the filmmakers wanted to get out there first.

Tim Robbins Joins Green Lantern Cast

Tim Robbins Joins Green Lantern Cast

Tim Robbins has joined the cast of Green Lantern in the role of Senator Hammond, whose disapproving parental style is one of the reasons that Dr Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) ends up turning evil.

The other reason, of course, is that Hammond Jr becomes infused with psychic powers from a strange meteorite and goes insane. As you do.

Martin Campbell has recruited Robbins to the cast to star alongside Ryan Reynolds (as our hero) and Blake Lively (as his love interest, Carol Ferris).

They’ll be reporting to the set in March to start shooting and Robbins also be no doubt hoping that this comic book film appearance wipes his early dabble with the genre off his CV, in the infamous Howard The Duck.

"Hawaii Five-0" Remake Has Found Mr. Ho

"Hawaii Five-0" Remake Has Found Mr. Ho

Another television show from our childhood is going to make it to the big screen soon. And they have tapped into CBS show " Hawaii Five-0"

"Lost's" Daniel Dae Kim is staying in Hawaii with a lead role on CBS' "Hawaii Five-0" remake.

In CBS' updated take on the classic cop series, from CBS Studios, Kim will play Detective Chin Ho Kelly, a role played in the original series by Kam Fong.

The part of Detective Steve McGarrett has not yet been cast, though "Moonlight" star Alex O'Loughlin continues to be in talks for it.

If the younger crowd has never heard of this show here is a synopsis of the show:

The show aired from which aired from September 20, 1968 to April 5, 1980. Hawaii Five-O centers on a fictional state police force (named in honor of Hawaii's status as the 50th State)[3] led by former Navy officer Steve McGarrett (Jack Lord), who was appointed by the Governor Paul Jameson (Richard Denning). McGarrett was assisted regularly by State Police officers — a young officer, Danny Williams (played by Tim O'Kelly in the show's pilot, but replaced in the regular series by James MacArthur), Chin Ho Kelly (Kam Fong) and Kono Kalakaua (Zulu). Later, Honolulu Police Department Officer Duke Lukela (Herman Wedemeyer) joined the team as a regular, as did Ben Kokua (Al Harrington) who replaced Kono. Occasionally, they were assisted by other officers on an "as-needed" basis. During the course of the show, the team was also assisted regularly by: medical examiner Doc Bergman (Al Eben), forensic specialist Che Fong (Harry Endo) and a secretary. The first secretary was May (Maggi Parker), then Jenny (Peggy Ryan) and later Luana (Laura Sode-Matteson).

The new "Hawaii Five-0" hails from hot feature writers and "Fringe" co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and "CSI: NY" executive producer/co-showrunner Peter Lenkov.

Kim, who played Jin Kwon on "Lost" for its six-season run, is the first actor from the show's core cast to book a new series project this pilot season as the ABC mystery drama heads to its May finale.

Getting key "Lost" players to do pilots this season is proving tricky as ABC's drama doesn't wrap its final season until April. In Kim's case, it helped that both "Lost" and "Hawaii Five-O" are filming in Hawaii.

Snoop Dogg and Darth Vader The Odd Couple. Adidas Promotion

Snoop Dogg and Darth Vader The Odd Couple. Adidas Promotion

Weird pairing Snoop Dogg and Darth Vader? Well I guess Vader is the original pimp and the OG Snoop Dogg had to hook up with the dark lord himself to help promote the New Adidas Star Wars shoe and clothing line that just came out.

The event took place at Time Square Foot Locker Store. to help promote the new Star Wars line of sneakers from Adidas.

I would love to get my hands on a pair of these shoes, but with a size 16 show they are pretty hard to come by.

Captain America Update From Joe Johnston

Captain America Update From Joe Johnston

Hero Complex got a chance to talk to Joe Johnsdton about his coming coming film "The First Avenger: Captain America,"

But director Joe Johnston and the team at Marvel Studios have a plan for "The First Avenger: Captain America," which is due in Summer 2011: They've added a new wrinkle to the classic mythology to explain why a scientifically enhanced super-soldier would venture out in the WWII battlefields in a costume that leans a bit heavy on the old Betsy Ross imagery.

"The costume is a flag, but the way we're getting around that is we have Steve Rogers forced into the USO circuit. After he's made into this super-soldier, they decide they can't send him into combat and risk him getting killed. He's the only one and they can't make more. So they say, 'You're going to be in this USO show' and they give him a flag suit. He can't wait to get out of it."

That's a whole new concept and it's one that sounds pretty promising. "It was never in the comics," Johnston said, "
because they didn't really need it. In comics, he puts on the costume and the reader just justifies because of the nature of the medium."

And who will wear the costume and carry the shield? "Well, we're testing five or six guys," Johnston said. "The youngest is 23, the oldest is 32. Most of the guys in the war are just kids, 18 or 19, but we want to go a little bit older. We have to have somebody locked in before I leave March 1 for London."

A challenge, he said, is finding an actor that can play scenes as "98-pound-weakling" Steve Rogers and also pull off the brawny hero scenes, although some visual effects wizardry will come into play. Johnson has plenty of experience on that front as the director of "Jumanji," "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" and "Jurassic Park III" He also had art director credits on major Lucasfilm projects, including "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "The Empire Strikes Back."

Johnston also directed "The Rocketeer," an underrated 1991 film based on the retro-hero created by the late great Dave Stevens. I asked Johnston if he thought the vintage flair of that film might have caught the eye of the Marvel brain trust as they looked around for a filmmaker to handle a 1940s action movie.

"I think it's probably possible that it was an influence," he said. "I think they were looking for somebody that could handle the visual effects. I think that was a big part of it. And with visual effects, all you really need to know is what is possible. And these days, actually, that's almost anything. Not everything is affordable, but almost everything is approachable."

I wanted to come back to the idea of Steve Rogers as a reluctant performer with United Services Organizations, which famously brought Bob Hope and other entertainers to morale-boosting events for troops overseas.

"So he's up on stage doing songs and dances with chorus girls and he can't wait to get out and really fight. When he does go AWOL, he covers up the suit but then, after a few things happen, he realizes that this uniform allows him to lead. By then, he's become a star in the public mind and a symbol. The guys get behind him because he embodies something special."

There will be more than one costume in the film, too.

In the first USO sequences, the frustrated patriot will be wearing a version that is closer to the classic Jack Kirby-designed costume, but then later as the super-soldier hits the war zone he will be wearing a sturdier, more muted version that he makes himself that is more like battle togs. The stripes across his mid-section, for instance, will be straps, not colored fabric.

"He realizes the value of the uniform symbols but he modifies his suit and adds some armor, it will be closer to the Cpa costume in some of the comics in more recent years . . . this approach, it's the only way we could justify ever seeing him on a screen in tights, with the funny boots and everything. The government essentially puts him up there as a living comic-book character and he rips it off and then reclaims some of its imagery after he recognizes the value of it. We think it's the best way to keep the costume and explain it at the same time."

"Dear John" Over Takes "Avatar"

"Dear John" Over Takes "Avatar"

Finally a movie has over taken the all mighty Avatar and it was a love story. With it being Superbowl weekend and all the guys at home and the women nothing to do, they flocked to the movies this weekend.

Sony-quarterbacked "Dear John" thwarted a drive by James Cameron's "Avatar" for an eighth No. 1 weekend, as the over-achieving romantic drama's wily counter-programming play scored an estimated $32.4 million in opening domestic boxoffice during Super Bowl weekend.

"Avatar" posted a $23.6 million tally to grab second place on the frame, just days after receiving nine Oscar nominations. The sci-fi epic -- which this week became the top-grossing domestic release ever, after previously setting foreign and global records -- lifted its cumulative boxoffice to $630.1 million domestically and $2.21 billion worldwide.

Lionsgate's "From Paris With Love," starring John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, was sacked by Americans' preoccupation with the pro football telecast, as the crime thriller bowed limply with $8.1 million in third place.

A pair of platform pics finally hit wide release after drawing Oscar nominations in several categories Tuesday. Fox Searchlight's Jeff Bridges starrer "Crazy Heart" -- whose topliner figured among Academy nominees -- wooed a heartfelt $3.7 million from 819 theaters for eighth place on the frame and a $11.2 million cume; Sony Pictures Classics' British drama "An Education" chalked up a lighter $915,407 from 761 locations for a $9.8 million cume.

Two sophomore-session holdovers absorbed sizable drops from week-earlier opening grosses. Warner Bros.' Mel Gibson starrer "Edge of Darkness" slid 59% to $7 million in fourth place and a $29.1 million cume, while Disney's romantic comedy "When in Rome" fell 55% to $5.5 million in sixth place with a $20.9 million cume.

Collectively, the weekend's top 10 films rung up $97.6 million. That was 21% less than top performers managed in last year's comparable frame, according to boxoffice tracker Rentrak.

An adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel, "Dear John" was wholly financed by Relativity Media and distributed under the Sony Screen Gems label.

The PG-13 pic shrugged largely negative reviews amid support from audiences comprised 81% of females and 64% of patrons under age 21. The demo was targeted when a trailer from the film was included in the holidays release of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," which also played to younger females.

"This was definitely the females driving the movie, and you could see the momentum building," Relativity marketing maven Geoff Ammer said. "But I'm definitely surprised that we did as much as we did."

Directed by Lasse Hallstrom ("The Shipping News"), "Dear John" stars Channing Tatum ("G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra") and Amanda Seyfried ("Jennifer's Body"). Its opening was about $10 million higher than forecast from pre-release tracking data.

"We felt right from the beginning that we had something with this picture," Sony distribution topper Rory Bruer said. "But I don't think anybody could have anticipated that it would do this well."

The opening was the biggest ever for a Super Bowl session, surpassing a $31.1 million bow by 2008's "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour."

Helmed by Pierre Morel ("Taken"), "Paris" is rated R and attracted audiences skewing 55% male, with 71% of patrons aged 25 or older. That was a demo highly preoccupied with the pigskin telecast on Sunday, and an East Coast blizzard also hurt the pic earlier in the weekend.

"It came in lower than anticipated," Lionsgate exec vp distribution David Spitz acknowledged. "Mother Nature didn't help our cause."

Mary Elizabeth Winstead Joins Cast Of "The Thing"

Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton will star in "The Thing," Universal's latest take on the shape-shifting alien who terrorizes a group of people in a remote facility.

The best-known version might be the 1982 John Carpenter-Kurt Russell cult movie, which was a contemporary remake of 1951's "The Thing From Another World," directed by Howard Hawks. All take inspiration from a 1938 short story, "Who Goes There?" published in pulp mag Astounding.

Matthijs Van Heijningen is directing the latest movie, which was written by Ronald D. Moore and Eric Heisserer. Strike Entertainment's Marc Abraham and Eric Newman are producing.

Winstead will play a Ph.D. candidate who joins a Norwegian research team in Antarctica after it discovers an alien ship in the ice. When a trapped organism is freed and begins a series of attacks, she is forced to team with a blue-collar mercenary helicopter pilot (Edgerton) to stop the rampage.

A March 15 start date in Toronto is planned.
