PTC Getting Excited About Howard Stern For Nothing

PTC Getting Excited About Howard Stern For Nothing Why would Fox think it would be a good idea to have Howard Stern act as a judge for next years American Idol? Does he have any musical talent at all? Didn't think so. Maybe they are thinking that with Simon moving on to his new show they will need someone to help keep the ratings going. Now, I've stayed quiet on the Stern stuff because the whole notion seemed ridiculous from the outset. Do you think Fox would risk its top-rated family-friendly franchise by putting Stern on the air? Correction: On the air live? And despite his popularity among radio listeners, the man is Kryptonite to TV advertisers -- just ask E!, which used to run his talk show. Fox wants ads from Coca-Cola and Ford, not Valtrex and phone sex lines. And now we get this The Parents Television Council has extended its broadcast TV neurosis to a new level: issuing press releases about events that have not happened. Usually, something actually has to occur on tel

New Line To Take Us On "Vacation" Again

New Line To Take Us On "Vacation" Again New Line is Going to bring us another "Vacation" film soon. The movie has brought in Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley to write the newest film. The latest project, which will no longer carry the National Lampoon credit, is being described as more of an update than a sequel and will be closer in tone to "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" than the previous chapters. Story will focus on Rusty Griswold, now a grown man, who decides to take his own wife and kids on a road trip to Wally World before it closes forever. Chase is expected to reprise his role as Clark Griswold, now a grandfather. "Vacation" marks Goldstein and Daley's fourth project at New Line in 2½ years. Most recently, they did an overhaul of "Horrible Bosses," about three friends who resolve to kill their employers. Seth Gordon ("King of Kong") is directing. Duo are rewriting "Burt Wonderstone" about a pr

Waking Sleeping Beauty Documentary Getting Limited Release

Waking Sleeping Beauty Documentary Getting Limited Release Waking Sleeping Beauty is a documentary that we have heard incredible news about, and I am excited to finally see it with my own eyes. This is documentary is for the hard core and casual Disney fan out there. The documentary is a behind the scenes look at Disney and what what happened behind close doors from 1984-1994. The guys over at /Films were some of the lucky few that have already seen the documentary and explains that the film follows the stories behind the creation of some of Disney's most beloved films such as Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King and more, and chronicles the growing power struggle between Jeffrey Katzenberg, Michael Eisner and Roy Disney. We learn about how creativity somehow thrived in this environment of corporate chaos. The film is not your typical talking head doc, and is wisely presented almost entirely using archival footage cut from over

Akira Remake To Be Directed By The Hughes Brothers

Akira Remake To Be Directed By The Hughes Brothers Looks like Warner Bros. is going to give the go ahead on the long awaited Akira film. After the job that the Hughes Brothers did on The Book Of Eli looks like Warner Bros. has found its team for this upcoming film. They are going to be making two films due to the length on the six-volume manga that the film will be based on. The script will come from Iron Man scribes Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. (Akira is being produced by Leonardo DiCaprio's company, Appian Way, along with Andrew Lazar, who’s also currently producing an adaptation of DC Comics’ Jonah Hex for Warners.) Even if you had read all of Katsuhiro Otomo’s epic 1982 manga and/or seen his own 1988 anime adaptation, summarizing the plot to Akira would still prove a bit of a challenge. As near as we can figure, Akira is about the leader of a biker gang who tries to save his kidnapped pal from a powerful supernatural experiment. (It might also be a psycho-philosophical explorat

The Expendables First Reviews Are In

The Expendables First Reviews Are In Lionsgate threw a party last night and did a test screening of the upcoming film The Expendables and from what has been travling online they has been pretty good. If you were in your teens in the late 80's early 90's you always thought how cool would it be to see Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Sylvester Stallone in a film together kicking ass. Well your time has come. Spoiler Alert This review is from collider reader “TexMexes” Ever heard of a little movie called The Expendables?!?! Well, I did, and I swore I would never return to Chatsworth unless I had a good enough reason… Last night, Sly gave me 7 — Rourke, Crews, Couture, Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren!!!! These are the guys who make up The Expendables, a group of merceneraries hired to overthrow an evil dictator (David Zayas from Dexter) and his crew of thugs (Eric Roberts, Steve Austin and assorted soldiers in black face paint). If the plot sounds simple to you — it is

Snake Plissken To Stay a 'Bad-Ass.'" In Reboot

Snake Plissken To Stay a 'Bad-Ass.'" In Reboot Sure you are tried of hearing the same old news, another reboot. Well sorry to tell you they are going to reboot the classic John Carpenter film Escape From New York. New Line Cinema is quickly moving forward thanks to a rewrite from Allan Loeb, the man who rescued the Wall Street sequel from development limbo over at Fox. A big reason for the fast track was creative: Loeb nailed the humor in Plissken without slipping into camp, and he changed Snake’s rescue-mission target from a president to a female senator, thereby upping the banter quotient. But just as big a factor was economic: They found a much cheaper way to turn Manhattan into a giant prison. And more importantly, good ol' Snake remains largely the same. Legally, he has to be. We learned that in order to land the rights, New Line had to sign a contract with John Carpenter stipulating, among other things, that Plissken "must be called 'Snake'";

The Last Airbender Full Trailer

The Last Airbender Full Trailer The first feature trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's adaptation of The Last Airbender, has arrived and we got it for you. The trailer that you saw during the Superbowl was just a teaser, this is the full trailer for the upcoming film. From what I have seen I am really looking forward to seeing this film, with really having no back ground on the story at all, I can go into it with fresh eyes. Based off of the Nickelodeon's popular animated series, THE LAST AIRBENDER is set in a world where human civilization is divided into four nations: Water, Earth, Air and Fire. The Fire Nation is waging a ruthless, oppressive war against the other three nations. The film’s hero, the reluctant young Aang (Noah Ringer), is the “Last Airbender” — the Avatar who, according to prophecy, has the ability to manipulate all of the elements and bring all the nations together. Aided by a protective teenage Waterbender named Katara (Nicola Peltz) and her bull-headed brothe

Stan Lee To Star In "Super Seven" Comics

Stan Lee To Star In "Super Seven" Comics Looks like Stan Lee is finally going to star in his own comic series called "Super Seven" which will be brought to us by Andy Heyward's recently launched A Squared Entertainment and Archie Comics. Christopher Nolan To Lend A Helping Hand To Superman Franchise

Christopher Nolan To Lend A Helping Hand To Superman Franchise Looks like Warner Bros. is trying to reboot the Superman franchise again, but the really big news is that they are enlisting the help of The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan Our insiders say that the brains behind rebooted Batman has been asked to play a "godfather" role and ensure The Man Of Steel gets off the ground after a 3 1/2-year hiatus. Nolan's leadership of the project can set it in the right direction with the critics and the fans, not to mention at the box office. ... Let us emphasize that Superman 3.0 is in the early stages of development. And we doubt Nolan would direct. This wouldn't be a sequel to Superman Returns but a completely fresh franchise. As one of our insiders reassures: "It would definitely not be a followup to Superman Returns." Please Leave A Comment- Source- deadline

Jesse James Hollywood, who was portrayed by Emile Hirsch, was sentenced on February 5th for the crime he committed 10 years ago. The killing of Nicholas Markowitz in California. If you have never seen this movie, go out and rent it. I was in awe about this whole story. It was just so interesting and complicated. The film also star Justin Timberlake, Bruce Willis and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) I was living in Santa Barbara during this time and had heard only a little about it. Once I saw the movie I was captured by the story and the news that followed. During filming, Santa Barbara County Deputy District Attorney Ronald J. Zonen provided copies of many documents on the case and served as an unpaid consultant to the film, citing his desire to have Hollywood captured. Zonen prosecuted Hollywood’s co-defendants and was poised to prosecute Hollywoo

Pixar's Cars 2 Delayed Till End Of 2011

Pixar's Cars 2 Delayed Till End Of 2011 Sorry all you Cars fans looks like the film is being pushed back till December of 2011. During Walt Disney Company's first quarter 2010 earnings call on Tuesday, company President and CEO Bob Iger mentioned that Disney•Pixar's Cars 2 will be released in theaters in December of 2011. The film was previously scheduled for a release on June 24, 2011 and this move would leave that release slot empty for now. Warner Bros. Pictures is releasing Green Lantern on June 17, 2011 and Michael Bay's Transformers 3 is targeted for a July 1, 2011 release. We're guessing another movie will quickly jump to June 24 spot, although Paramount moved up Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to a Tuesday night/Wednesday release in 2009, so that is another possibility for the third film. Disney•Pixar had scheduled a December, 2011 release for The Bear and the Bow. We assume that film will be moved as well. In the Brad Lewis-directed Cars 2, all the wor

Saw Franchise Coming To An End

Saw Franchise Coming To An End Looks like a franchise is going to becoming to an end. About time I feel that the first 3 films were great and a great concept of horror films and now they just seem repetitive and are just stretching the story. They good guys over at Latino Review talked to Melton: "I think it's going to end with Saw VII. I have a very strong feeling its going to end with Saw VII. That's something we're debating now. You saw in previous interviews or discussions where we thought Saw VIII would be the last one where we had the first trilogy and the second trilogy and then sort of a grand finale wrapped up in two films. But frankly because Saw VI hasn't performed as well as we anticipated, the idea is well why make two movies when we can make one really excellent movie that wraps up as best we can? And it's going to be in 3-D which sort of adds to the spectacle. So if you had to ask me, I don't own the franchise, nor do I run the studio, but

Crazy Heart Movie Review By:Windy

Crazy Heart Movie Review By:Windy SandwichJohnFilms Residential movie reviewer went out and saw Crazy Heart and came in with this review. Also stop by Windy's home page and let her know what a great job she is doing. And this ain’t no place for the weary kind And this ain’t no place to lose your mind And this ain’t no place to fall behind Pick up your crazy heart and give it one more try “Crazy Heart”, starring Jeff Bridges, opens with Bridges’ familiar tin singing a country tune. His voice is immediately recognizable and the melody of the song sets the tone for the film: lost, somber, perhaps even helpless. Bad Blake, as Bridges’ character is known in the film, is a stereotypical down-and-out country singer who’s had one too many whiskeys, way too many women, and far too many years without a hit. He isn’t pretty to look at – disheveled, pants unbuttoned, visibly drunk and at times stumbling. However, Bridges brings a unique honesty and humbleness to the role. He’s an actor w

Tom Cruise Is Set For Mission Impossible 4

Tom Cruise Is Set For Mission Impossible 4 Ah snaps with my finger in a Z formation. Tom Cruise will be coming back as Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible 4. This is really great news for me having a man crush on TC. Screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are already attached to write the script. The intention is to make this Cruise's next film and start shooting by summer for a Memorial Day 2011 weekend release. And I can definitively say that, despite chatter to the contrary, IM4 will be very much of an Ethan Hunt pic with Cruise as the main character. " I hear Paramount is really excited about relaunching the franchise, which has grossed over $1.4 billion globally. “Tom and J.J. are great talents and we are excited to be working with them to re-launch this legendary franchise,” said Paramount Pictures Chairman & CEO Brad Grey. Terminator Franchise Sold To Underdog

Terminator Franchise Sold To Underdog Doesn't look like Skynet had enough cash to buy the franchise, and it is in the hands of Pacificor. Is this the company that starts SkyNet? Maybe we should ask our friends over at TheArnoldFans . I know they would have the answer. The franchise sold to Pacificor yes the same Santa Barbara-based hedge fund Pacificor. (This is the same Pacificor whom Halcyon accused in a lawsuit of extortion, bribery, and fraud and demanded $30M in damages.) Say what? Furious Sony Pictures Entertainment and Lionsgate bidding war was going on and then Bam Pacificor sneaks right in and Terminates them both at the last Minute. Sony and Lionsgate dropped out at just under $29.5 million when it became clear that Pacificor "was willing to pay almost any amount of money for Terminator," an insider tells me. Halcyon will receive $5 million for every Terminator movie made from now on, as well as retains the rich revenue streams from the movies Terminator 3 and 4

Katherine Heigl To Play A Bounty Hunter Katherine Heigl is set to star in an upcoming film called "One for the Money" which is based on the Janet Evanovich novel of the same name. Just sounds like a bad idea, Hollywood movie studios have faith in her, which u can not argue with.Heigl last film "The Ugly Truth," earned more than $200 million in worldwide.Go figure. I really have no idea why she appeals to people? Evanovich's Plum series is up to 15 novels, all with titles that have a number theme. A 16th Plum novel hits shelves this summer. Reese Witherspoon was previously attached to take on the role, but the project has been dormant for several years. Heigl's interest has put the project back on the fast track, with Andrea Giannetti overseeing for the studio. Col and Lakeshore will next look to attach a director. Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten

24 Movie Getting Closer To Reality

24 Movie Getting Closer To Reality Looks like Jack Bauer might be making his way to the big screen soon. Fox hasn't decide to pick the show up for the 9th season yet, but there is talks that Billy Ray ( Man behind State of Play) Maybe writing a script. Looks like it is all going to depend on how the ratings for the show are this year to whether they make the movie. In January, star Kiefer Sutherland told EW that he’d love to do a movie (“It would be a two-hour representation of a day”) and thinks the TV show can actually be done at the same time. ”I actually tried to convince a few people of this. In a media world that is changing unbelievably fast, a television series can either act as a great trailer for a film, or a film can act as a great trailer for a television series. And I think the first person who actually does that is going to change the way television interacts with feature films. “I think the resistance to it is because, in my father’s generation, if you did film

"Contagion" Up Next For Matt Damon

"Contagion" Up Next For Matt Damon So just how good is Scott Z. Burns' "Contagion" script? It's so good that Steven Soderbergh decided to push everything else aside to fast track it for a fall start. An action-thriller about the outbreak of a deadly virus, from what we've heard, Burns' script is a multi-strand film not unlike the Academy award-winning "Traffic" that Soderbergh helmed in 2000. Our sources tell us the story takes place over four continents and is "terrifying." The project has attracted the likes of Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Marion Cotillard who all have deals closing to star in the film. With the cast in place, Soderbergh and his people are now shopping the project around town with co-financing already in place from Participant Productions. Undoubtedly with a great cast already locked, and with comparisons to "Traffic" and "Bourne" being thrown around, this one will get snapped up q

Tim Robbins Joins Green Lantern Cast

Tim Robbins Joins Green Lantern Cast Tim Robbins has joined the cast of Green Lantern in the role of Senator Hammond, whose disapproving parental style is one of the reasons that Dr Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard ) ends up turning evil. The other reason, of course, is that Hammond Jr becomes infused with psychic powers from a strange meteorite and goes insane. As you do. Martin Campbell has recruited Robbins to the cast to star alongside Ryan Reynolds (as our hero) and Blake Lively (as his love interest, Carol Ferris). They’ll be reporting to the set in March to start shooting and Robbins also be no doubt hoping that this comic book film appearance wipes his early dabble with the genre off his CV, in the infamous Howard The Duck. Captain America Update From Joe Johnston

Captain America Update From Joe Johnston Hero Complex got a chance to talk to Joe Johnsdton about his coming coming film "The First Avenger: Captain America," But director Joe Johnston and the team at Marvel Studios have a plan for "The First Avenger: Captain America," which is due in Summer 2011: They've added a new wrinkle to the classic mythology to explain why a scientifically enhanced super-soldier would venture out in the WWII battlefields in a costume that leans a bit heavy on the old Betsy Ross imagery. "The costume is a flag, but the way we're getting around that is we have Steve Rogers forced into the USO circuit. After he's made into this super-soldier, they decide they can't send him into combat and risk him getting killed. He's the only one and they can't make more. So they say, 'You're going to be in this USO show' and they give him a flag suit. He can't wait to get out of it." That's a whole new
