BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Lily Collins Lands Lead In Evil Dead Remake

Ghost House and Mandate Pictures are going BIG with their casting for their forthcoming remake of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead , which begins lensing this March in New Zealand. Bloody Disgusting has learned exclusively that Lily Collins (The Blind Side, Priest, Mirror Mirror) is in final negotiations to play " Mia " in FilmDistrict's reboot aiming for release on April 12, 2013. *Update* Mia is the LEAD , and is (sort of) the female version of Ashley J. Williams (Ash), once donned by Bruce Campbell in the original trilogy. To reveal more would ruin the movie. In this version, the story centers on five friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) holed up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead with a demonic force unleashed possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival. As we also exclusively reported, there is a drug subplot. As previously explained, David is a mechanic and is engaged to Natalie. Mia is the friend who is heading

Sam Raimi To Direct "The Day of the Triffids"

Sam Raimi To Direct "The Day of the Triffids" Mandate Pictures has won the auction for The Day of the Triffids . The film will be produced by Ghost House, the partnership between Mandate, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. The deal is seven-figures and I've heard it's the most that Mandate has paid for a project package. Raimi wants to direct it; the original was one of his favorite films as a boy. Raimi and Tapert will board the producer roster, joining Michael Preger, Angry Films' Don Murphy and Susan Montford, and Mark Gordon, who previously worked with Raimi on A Simple Plan. The rights package includes the original scifi novel by John Wyndham , which was previously used as the basis for the 1962 film. It's classic paranoid alien invasion stuff: when a shower of meteorites lights up the sky, it creates such a gorgeous sight that most earthlings can't help but look. So 99% of the population goes blind as a result, but it gets worse. The meteorites unleash

Aziz Ansari And Danny McBride Have A Deal With Mandate Pictures Rising comic star Ansari was most recently tapped to host the upcoming MTV Movie Awards and is about to embark on a summer stand-up tour across the U.S. And now we have news that Mandate Pictures has picked up an untitled comedy feature pitch based on an idea by comedian Aziz Ansari and "30 Rock" television scribe Matt Hubbard. Ansari is attached to star in the project alongside comic actor Danny McBride. Harris Wittels, who writes for Ansari's NBC tv series "Parks and Recreation," will pen the feature script. The project, whose plotline is being kept under wraps, reunites McBride and Ansari, both of whom starred in Hill's "Observe and Report" last year. The duo are about to embark on another project together, Columbia Pictures' "30 Minutes or Less," currently in pre-production.
