Steven R. Monroe To Direct HOLE IN THE DESERT

I Spit On Your Grave remake director Steven R. Monroe writes, directs and produces revenge/action/thriller, HOLE IN THE DESERT

Monroe also wrote the screenplay, and will produce the independent feature film.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — April 23, 2011 — Director Steven R.Monroe's (I Spit On Your Grave) next feature film will be the revenge/action/thriller HOLE IN THE DESERT. The independently financed feature will begin principal photography in June.

The film is a violent, edgy ride focusing on the forlorn Reagan Tyler, a man who troubled by visions and premonitions that ultimately lead him to a small desert town. It's there that Reagan meets the beautiful and mysterious Monika, a young woman who turns out to have been killed the night before he even met her! Reagan is then forced to put the puzzle together and help Monika with her revenge on the killers of her younger sister.

"All involved are very excited that we are doing this film", Monroe, who also directed It Waits, Complacent and House of 9, said. "For me to have the opportunity to write and direct, and then on top of that be a producer makes it all that much better. Though it was also a great project, this film is very different from I Spit On Your Grave. We are assembling a great cast for HOLE IN THE DESERT; Cerina Vincent is already onboard to play the tough, beautiful and vengeful Monika”.

"I am just thrilled to be a part of this", says Vincent, known for her roles in such films as Cabin Fever and Not Another Teen Movie and last seen in Monroe's acclaimed Complacent. "It's truly an honor to work with director Steven R. Monroe again. His script is incredible-- it's got wit, edge, and depth... His vision for this will make for an edgy, sexy, suspenseful ride with moments of tenderness and some intense violence..."

Monroe says of Vincent, “This film is a departure from what people know of her and I am confident that she will be awesome”.

Monroe says the rest of the cast will be revealed shortly and that the film will be completed the beginning of September 2011.

Jeremy Renner To Star In Steve McQueen Biopic

Northern California boy Jeremy Renner continues his march toward Hollywood domination.

The two-time Oscar nominee, who has been on an upward trajectory since starring in best picture winner The Hurt Locker, has formed The Combine, a production company he will run with partner Don Handfield. And the company is hitting the ground running, developing a Steve McQueen biopic that will serve as a starring vehicle for the actor.

James Gray, who wrote and directed We Own the Night, is attached to write the McQueen screenplay, which will be based on the two books by Marshall Terrill: Portrait of an American Rebel and The Life and Legend of a Hollywood Icon. Video director Ivan Zacharias is attached to make his directorial debut on the project.

Renner and Handfield will produce the McQueen project with Hurt Locker producer Greg Shapiro, Cross Creek Pictures’ Brian Oliver (one of the producers of Black Swan), and Zacharias’ producing partner Nick Landon.

Renner seems like a great fit for the iconic '70s star, with the right rugged looks and all-man attitude (even if his reputation isn't as messy as McQueen’s). But the project is in the development stage and Renner, who’s become one of the most sought-after and busiest actors in Hollywood since his back-to-back Oscar nominations for Hurt Locker and The Town, has plenty on his plate to keep him occupied until it’s ready.

With Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol already in the can, he is currently in Berlin shooting Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters for Paramount, after which he will segue to Marvel’s The Avengers, which just got under way in New Mexico with Joss Whedon directing. He's also weighing an offer to star in The Bourne Legacy for Universal, which would shoot in the fall, and then he may next go into Sheldon Turner's By Virtue Fall in February. Additionally, he just signed on to lend his voice for Fox’s latest installment of the Ice Age animated franchise.

With Combine, Renner and Handfield, an actor-turned-filmmaker, are trying to create entertainment from an artist-based perspective. According to sources, “the company will provide a framework to create, develop and support the vision of actors, writers and directors across all platforms.”

DreamWorks Martin Luther King Film Moving Forward

While other Martin Luther King projects seem to be on the ropes, DreamWorks’ untitled MLK biopic is starting to come together.

Kario Salem, best known for writing the 2001 Robert De Niro-Edward Norton drama The Score, is in negotiations to pen the project, which also sees Warner Bros. coming on board to co-finance and to distribute with Disney’s Touchstone label. (Disney is where DreamWorks is housed.)

DreamWorks acquired the life rights of the civil rights leader in May 2009, with Sam Nappi, Suzanne de Passe and Madison Jones on board as producers. Not only did it secure the cooperation of the King estate, the studio also has access to King's intellectual property, including his famous "I Have a Dream" speech.
Warners, meanwhile, had been working on its biopic for several years and had a Salem script in deep development. Salem is said to have done three-and-a-half years worth of research and interviews when writing his screenplay.

But while the DreamWorks and Warners efforts were more or less under the radar, competing projects began making a lot of noise. Lee Daniels has been trying to raise financing for his take on the 1960s marches in Selma, Ala., and he has David Oyelowo attached to play King. Universal, meanwhile, was planning to finance and distribute Memphis, a look at the final days of MLK, to be directed by Paul Greengrass.
But those projects are having a tough time making it to the screen. Universal backed out of Memphis less than a month ago, leaving Greengrass to seek funds independently.

One major reason for the hurdles, according to sources, is the disapproval of the MLK estate, which is not afraid to exert pressure to stall projects it deems as unflattering to the civil rights leader.
In recent weeks, both DreamWorks and Warners realized that one project had the thumbs-up of the estate and the other was backed by years of research, meaning a team-up would best tell the MLK tale. Salem will now write a new script with the estate’s backing.

Nappi, de Passe and Jones are still on board as producers. Dexter King, Bernice King and Martin Luther King II are acting as exec producers.

Mark Sourian and Jonathan Eirich are overseeing for DreamWorks. Sarah Schecter will oversee for Warners.

Zorro Reborn To Be Set In The Future

It’s been six years since the iconic swashbuckler Zorro was last seen on the screen, courtesy of Antonio Banderas and James Bond director Martin Campbell, in the period action piece "The Legend of Zorro."

But the character could be on his way back, sans swashbuckling -- and, in fact, sans the past entirely.

A reboot titled "Zorro Reborn" is being developed at Fox that will remove the character from his historical California or Mexico setting.

Unlike many of the previous Zorros (real name: Don Diego de la Vega) brandishing whips and swords, the hero of the new installment will live in the future -- specifically a desolate and post-apocalyptic one, according to a person familiar with the film who asked not to be identified. A Fox spokeswoman declined to comment.

In this version, Zorro will be less a caped crusader for justice than a one-man vigilante force bent on revenge, in a western story that has echoes of both Sergio Leone and "No Country for Old Men."

The movie will be directed by Rpin Suwannath, a previsualization specialist who worked on a number of the "X-Men," "Matrix" and "Chronicles of Narnia" movies. (Previsualiation is the Hollywood art of conceiving and generating images, usually for an effects-driven movie, before filming has begun. Visual-effects specialists are hot generally, with Fox recently setting the viz kid Tim Miller to direct "Deadpool.") The project, a person close to it cautioned, is in early development.

The "Zorro Reborn" script has been written by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, the screenwriters behind the Dracula reboot "Harker" at Warner Bros. The Zorro film is expected to provide a juicy lead role for a young actor.

Johnston McCulley's pulp Zorro stories have served as the basis for dozens of films, starting with Douglas Fairbanks' caped-hero films of the 1920s, and then later film serials, features culled from a Guy Williams television series, a 1975 Italian-made version with spaghetti western overtones and the Banderas iterations.

In the first of those, 1998's "The Mask of Zorro," Anthony Hopkins plays an aging Don Diego de la Vega who passes the baton (or whip) to a young misfit (Banderas), who in turn becomes the new Zorro. The 2005 film, which like the first featured Catherine Zeta-Jones as Zorro's wife, Elena, followed. Both movies, made by Sony, were set in an outlaw mid-19th century California. The sequel saw a fall-off at the box office.

Dark reinventions of heroic icons have been popular in Hollywood since Christopher Nolan did just that with Batman. A "Zorro" reboot would need to contend with a new version of "The Lone Ranger," which Johnny Depp and his "Pirates of the Caribbean" director Gore Verbinski have been developing.

900th Issue Of Action Comics Superman Renounces USA

The Internet is abuzz over this week's 900th issue of Action Comics, in which Superman says,

"I am renouncing my US citizenship." After officials criticize him for joining a million protesters in a peaceful anti-Ahmadinejad vigil in Iran, he reflects, "I'm tired of having my actions construed as instruments of US policy. 'Truth, Justice and the American Way' -- it's not enough anymore. The world's too small. Too connected."

Say What?

"This is absolutely sickening," commented one reader on Foxnews.com. "We are now down to destroying all American Icons. How are we going to survive as a Nation?" Swamp Fox Press blogged, "Bleep Superman. I urge a boycott of Warner Brothers, all DC franchises, and particularly Superman." The neoconservative Weekly Standard called Superman's citizenship renunciation "about the dumbest thing DC Comics could do."

Not necessarily. It's part of a thoughtful plan to rebrand Superman in an entertainment universe that is indeed smaller than it was 899 issues ago. When Superman Returns changed his famous slogan to "Truth, justice, and all that other stuff" in 2006, coscreenwriter Dan Harris told THR, "He's an international superhero." It's even more important to be international these days, when the market is so global that some tentpole movies (most recently Thor) open abroad before they do in the US. GI Joe went from a "Real American Hero" to an acronym for "Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity."

What's next? Will Superman change his name to Stalin -- which also means "man of steel?" Probably not. But this summer's Captain America: The First Avenger will drop Captain America from the title in Russia, Ukraine, and South Korea. And it's no accident that both Superman's renunciation episode in Action #900 and the forthcoming film Man of Steel, set to shoot this summer, are written by David S. Goyer. "They intended this to be a political statement, but it is really a slap in the face of the American identity," claims Swamp Fox Press. "Show me any one country that has done more for the world than America."

Actually, it's more about what the world can do for an American movie company. "I've been thinking too small," Superman says in the comic. His business plan, however, has gone global.

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Campbell directs “Green Lantern” from a screenplay by Greg Berlanti & Michael Green & Marc Guggenheim and Michael Goldenberg, story by Greg Berlanti & Michael Green & Marc Guggenheim, based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics.

Mark Wahlberg & Justin Bieber To Play Ball

Paramount Pictures is in negotiations for what could be the dramatic screen-starring debut of Justin Bieber. He will star alongside Mark Wahlberg in an untitled drama that will revolve around street basketball and will give Bieber the chance to show off his hoops skills. Deal comes after Bieber's musical performance film Never Say Never minted money for Paramount.

Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson will produce with Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun. The script will be written by Ian Edelman, creator of How To Make It In America, the HBO series that is exec produced by Wahlberg and Levinson, who hold the same titles on Entourage and Boardwalk Empire. The tone of the project is described as The Color of Money meets The Karate Kid, and it came out of Wahlberg and Levinson seeing Bieber play ball in February during a celebrity game held during NBA All-Star Game weekend. Bieber more than held his own against celebs and former players; he was named MVP. It's understandable that Paramount would want to be in business with Bieber again. Made on a $13 million budget, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never grossed $97 million worldwide. Paramount immediately hired its director, Jon Chu, to helm its G.I. Joe sequel.

But can the 17-year-old Bieber make the transition to serious actor? Wahlberg was thought of as a hip-hop artist until gritty performances in films like Basketball Diaries re-crafted his image to a point where he was honored this week for being named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People following his role as star and producer of the Oscar-nominated The Fighter. I don't think Wahlberg has had time to have Bieber come to his home, where he regularly plays full-court basketball games with his friends. I remember him telling me when I interviewed him for a magazine cover that his team prided themselves on playing physical against the likes of his Basketball Diaries costar Leonardo DiCaprio. (So be careful about playing in the paint, Bieber!) Wahlberg, who just wrapped the drama Contraband, is currently starring in the Seth MacFarlane-directed comedy Ted for Universal and Media Rights Capital.

Director Rupert Wyatt takes the reins from the off, giving us tidbits on just what to expect from the latest in the Apes franchise. James Franco — who plays morially dubious scientist Will Rodman — also says hello.

Alas, Andy Serkis doesn't make his presence felt, though his character, Caesar, is discussed. You know, with him being the clever ape that kicks the whole revolution off and all.

Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark are producing for Chernin Entertainment under its pact with Fox. Rupert Wyatt is directing from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, who are also producing.

X-Men First Class Trailer And Interviews

These trailers that they are releasing for the upcoming film X-Men First Class just keep getting better. In this trailer they show us footage that has never been seen until now.  Now if they could just work on the posters for the film.

MSN also got a chance to talk to the stars of the film about their characters.

Michael Fassbender on MAGNETO

“At the start of the movie we get introduced to Erik as a boy. We start in the concentration camps with him and it cuts to 20 years later and it’s the early 60s and it’s Erik as a grown man. He’s on a quest to get Sebastian Shaw, played by Kevin Bacon. Shaw had him in these concentration camps – and as we know the Nazis were doing lots of experimentation with all sorts of things like measuring skull size and brain size and running experiments on human beings, essentially. Shaw is trying to unleash this power in Magneto – he’s recognised that he can manipulate metal – and so we catch up with Erik on a quest to basically hunt Shaw down.”

Watch the trailer and interviews after the Jump...

James McAvoy on CHARLES XAVIER

“Charles has this connection to everybody because he can feel their experiences and see them. Their memories are his memories. But he wasn’t looking for Erik. He didn’t know Erik was there and he suddenly felt him. And perhaps he’s never connected to Erik in quite the same way he’s connected to other people. I think there’s a little bit of vying for who’s in charge, and there is a feeling between them from Magneto that, ‘you’ve got the brains, but I’m your trump card, pal,’ at every venture. ‘I’m the most dangerous dude in here, and you know that and I know that,’ and I think by the end of the film we come to an understanding about that as well. We do have completely different views as well, and what’s quite nice is that those scenes don’t come to a nice reconciliation at the end. They’re left, so the tension carries on through the movie.”

Lucas Till on ALEX SUMMER/HAVOC

“Alex Summers, whose super name is Havok, is Scott ‘Cyclops’ Summers’s younger brother. I can shoot plasma beams out of my entire body instead of just optic beams. Just like Scott can’t control his power without glasses or his visor on, historically Alex has never been able to control his power either. It’s always in outbursts of lack of control. In the comics he has a suit that kind of absorbs excess energy. But it was more like a meter that told him how much power he had, whereas in this one I have something that channels it because I can’t control it myself. It’s a chest piece that focuses the ray so I don’t blow it out everywhere.”

Jennifer Lawrence on RAVEN/MYSTIQUE

“Raven, or Mystique, is a shape shifter, and when she’s in her natural, blue, scaly, red hair form she also has superhuman agility. She’s young and she’s a normal teenager, really, just dealing with insecurities. She’s insecure about being a mutant and she slowly grows to really accept it and evolve herself. She’s been shape shifting for a long time, but she’s really just learning about her superhuman ability. She discovers that in the movie.”

Nicholas Hoult on HANK McCOY/BEAST

“He’s a young scientist – a very clever guy – but a little bit shy and awkward around the girls and just socially awkward around the group. He’s a good guy, but it’s hard work for him. He’s a great scientist though and he comes up with all of these inventions that sometimes work and sometimes don’t, and then he tries out a serum from Mystique’s (pictured left) DNA to try and stop his feet from appearing apelike and massive, because he’s very self-conscious about it. Unfortunately that goes wrong and he becomes the Beast that we know from the other films and cartoons and comics. It’s fascinating to see the difference, when he becomes the Beast, between Hank and this very animalistic and scary-looking character.”

SYNOPSIS:

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

The film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon. Matthew Vaughn (“Kick-Ass”) directs, and the producers are Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg and Bryan Singer. Singer, who helmed the acclaimed blockbusters “X-Men” and “X2,” wrote the story for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.

Antje Traue Cast As Female Villain In Superman: Man of Steel

German actress Antje Traue has emerged as a strong contender for the role of the villainess in Warner Bros’ Superman: Man of Steel movie.

The movie, deep in casting mode and toplined by Henry Cavill, already has one of its bad guys in the form of Michael Shannon, who is playing General Zod.

The story is calling for a female counterpart although it is unclear if the character’s name is Ursa, who appeared memorably in Superman II as well as Smallville and the comic books, or Faora, a comic book character. Both are super-powered Kryptonian antagonists.

Traue has no offer but has tested for the role. It is unclear which other actresses have tested for the part as well.

Traue has appeared with Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster in Pandorum and has the Renny Harlin action movie 5 Days in August, which also stars Val Kilmer and Rupert Friend, in the can.

Jack Osbourne To Direct Black Sabbath Horror Film

Budding filmmaker Jack Osbourne is set to make a horror movie inspired by and named after his father Ozzy's rock band Black Sabbath.

The reality TV star recently wrapped his first big gig as a producer, working on behind-the-scenes concert documentary God Bless Ozzy Osbourne, which he premiered at New York's Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday (24Apr11).

And Osbourne is already planning his next project around the songs that made the heavy metal group famous.

Marc Weingarten, co-producer on God Bless Ozzy Osbourne, tells WENN, "Jack and I are about to do a horror movie called Black Sabbath so there's some connective tissue there."

Weingarten refuses to reveal any plot details, although he admits the duo has yet to cast anyone in the film.
He adds, "Just the music of Black Sabbath is in the movie, but it's not about the band. We'll start shooting by the end of the year."

But it has the internet going crazy today.

Check out the press release after the Jump that contains casting information...

Production has commenced today in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated movie “Marvel’s The Avengers,” directed by Joss Whedon (“Serenity”) from a screenplay by Whedon. The film will continue principal photography in Cleveland, Ohio and New York City. Robert Downey, Jr. (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) returns as the iconic Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) as Thor, Chris Evans (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Captain America, Jeremy Renner (“Thor,” “The Hurt Locker”) as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo (“The Kids Are Alright”) as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson (“Iron Man 2”) as Black Widow, Clark Gregg (“Iron Man,” “Thor”) as Agent Phil Coulson, and Samuel L. Jackson (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) as Nick Fury. Set for release in the US on May 4, 2012, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the first feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009.

Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.

Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Marvel’s The Avengers” brings together the mightiest super hero characters as they all assemble together on screen for the first time. The star studded cast of super heroes will be joined by Cobie Smulders (“How I Met Your Mother) as Agent Maria Hill of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as Tom Hiddleston (“Wallander”) and Stellan Skarsgård (“Angels & Demons,” “Mamma Mia!”) who will both reprise their respective roles as Loki and Professor Erik Selvig from the upcoming Marvel Studios’ feature “Thor.”

“Marvel’s The Avengers” is being produced by Marvel Studios' President, Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Patty Whitcher, and Jon Favreau. Marvel Studios’ Jeremy Latcham and Victoria Alonso will co-produce.

The creative production team also includes Oscar nominated director of photography Seamus McGarvey (“Atonement”), production designer James Chinlund (“25th Hour”), Oscar winning costume designer Alexandra Byrne (“Elizabeth: The Golden Age”), Oscar winning visual effects supervisor Janek Sirrs (“Iron Man 2,” “The Matrix”), visual effects producer Susan Pickett (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”), stunt coordinator R.A. Rondell (“Superman Returns”), and four-time Oscar nominated special effects supervisor Dan Sudick (“Iron Man,” “War of the Worlds”). The editors include Oscar nominated Paul Rubell (“Collateral”) and Jeffrey Ford (“Crazy Heart”).

Marvel Studios most recently produced “Iron Man 2” which was released in theatres on May 7, 2010. The sequel to “Iron Man,” starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow as well as Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke, took the number one spot its first weekend with a domestic box office gross of $128.1 million. To date the film has earned over $620 million in worldwide box office receipts.

In the summer of 2008, Marvel produced the summer blockbuster movies, “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk.” “Iron Man,” in which Robert Downey, Jr. originally dons the super hero’s powerful armor alongside co-stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow, was released May 2, 2008 and was an immediate box office success. Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million its opening weekend and grossed over $571 million worldwide. On June 13, 2008, Marvel released “The Incredible Hulk” marking its second number one opener of that summer. The spectacular revival of the iconic green goliath grossed over $250 million in worldwide box office receipts.

In addition to "Marvel's The Avengers," Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including "Thor" on May 6, 2011; "Captain America: The First Avenger" on July 22, 2011; and "Iron Man 3" on May 3, 2013.

SYNOPSIS

Based on a gripping, unbelievable true story of money, power and opulent decadence, Lionsgate's THE DEVIL'S DOUBLE takes a white-knuckle ride deep into the lawless playground of excess and violence known as Bagdad, 1987. Summoned from the frontline to Saddam Hussein's palace, Iraqi army lieutenant Latif Yahia (Dominic Cooper) is thrust into the highest echelons of the "royal family" when he's ordered to become the 'fiday' - or body double - to Saddam's son, the notorious "Black Prince" Uday Hussein (also Dominic Cooper), a reckless, sadistic party-boy with a rabid hunger for sex and brutality. With his and his family's lives at stake, Latif must surrender his former self forever as he learns to walk, talk and act like Uday. But nothing could have prepared him for the horror of the Black Prince's psychotic, drug-addled life of fast cars, easy women and impulsive violence. With one wrong move costing him his life, Latif forges an intimate bond with Sarrab (Ludivine Sangier), Uday's seductive mistress who's haunted by her own secrets. But as war looms with Kuwait and Uday's depraved gangster regime threatens to destroy them all, Latif realizes that escape from the devil's den will only come at the highest possible cost.

Featuring a riveting double performance by Dominic Cooper (AN EDUCATION, MAMA MIA) in the roles of Latif Yahia and Uday Hussein, THE DEVIL'S DOUBLE is a dynamic, chilling adaptation of Latif Yahia's autobiographical novel, charting one man's defiant struggle to survive a viper's pit of corruption and brutality. The film is directed by Lee Tamahori (DIE ANOTHER DAY, XXX: STATE OF THE UNION) and written by Michael Thomas (BACKBEAT, SCANDAL).
