Enter For A Chance To Win Passes To See ANOMALISA on January19th at 7:00 PM in Las Vegas.

Michael Stone, husband, father and respected author of "How May I Help You Help Them?" is a man crippled by the mundanity of his life. On a business trip to Cincinnati, where he's scheduled to speak at a convention of customer service professionals, he checks into the Fregoli Hotel. There, he is amazed to discover a possible escape from his desperation in the form of an unassuming Akron baked goods sales rep, Lisa, who may or may not be the love of his life. A beautifully tender and absurdly humorous dreamscape, from the brilliant minds of Charlie Kaufman (SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK) and Duke Johnson ("Community" episode, Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas), this stop-motion animation wonder features the vocal cast of Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tom Noonan and David Thewlis and a stirring strings-based score by Carter Burwell. The darkly comedic and surreal stop-motion journey of a man's long night of the soul, ANOMALISA confirms Charlie Kaufman's place amongst the most important of American filmmakers, and announces Duke Johnson as a major creative force.

SandwichJohn's 22 Most Anticipated Films Of 2016

Here is my personal most anticipated list for 2016. I am sure I have missed a few films that will end up on our radar later this year.

Hail, Caesar! (February 5) The latest film from the Coen brothers features Josh Brolin as a Hollywood studio “fixer” in the 1950s, charged with tracking down a buffoonish star (George Clooney) who’s been kidnapped while filming a sword-and-sandal epic.

Deadpool (February 12) The Marvel superhero Deadpool gets his own stand alone film. Ryan Reynolds plays the mercenary with a mouth who has little regard for human life, including his own. The film is scripted by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland). Tim Miller is set to make his directorial debut

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25) DC’s efforts to match Marvel’s cinematic universe kick off here, with this superhero showdown between Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill), plus appearances from other DC icons including Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Aquaman and more.

Everybody Wants Some (April 15) Billed as a “spiritual sequel” to Dazed and Confused, the new feature from writer-director Richard Linklater follows the lives of a group of college freshmen in the early 1980s, as they smoke pot, hit on women and try out for the baseball team.

The Jungle Book - Disney (April 15) Disney is remaking The Jungle Book yet again into another live-action film, this time based on theie animated 1967 musical. The 1894 Rudyard Kipling novel focuses on Mowgli, an Indian boy who is raised by wolves. Jon Favreau directs from a script by Justin Marks.

Captain America: Civil War (May 6) Marvel’s superheroes take sides as the government attempts to control them, which pits Captain America (Chris Evans) against longtime ally and fellow Avenger Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.). Co-starring pretty much every other Marvel superhero.

See my entire list after the Jump...

Snowden (May 13) Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play Edward Snowden. The former U.S. Intelligence analyst exposed the surveillance techniques of the NSA and other government agencies. Oliver Stone directs from his adaptation of "Time of the Octopus" by Snowden's lawyer Anatoly Kucherena, and "The Snowden Files: The Inside Story Of The World’s Most Wanted Man" by Guardian journalist Luke Harding.

X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27) X-Men: Apocalypse will follow the younger mutant superheroes during the 1980s in the aftermath of Days of Future Past. Apocalypse is a powerful mutant born in Egypt 5000 years ago. Brian Singer returns to direct.

Central Intelligence (June 17) Kevin Hart plays an accountant who gets in way over his head in the comedy Central Intelligence from Universal Pictures. He reconnects with an old friend through Facebook who gets him entangled in a world of espionage. The script comes from Ike Barinholtz and Dave Stassen.

Finding Dory (June 17) Forgetful fish Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres) takes center stage in Pixar’s long-awaited sequel to Finding Nemo, as young Nemo and his father Marlin, now reunited, help Dory search for answers about her past.

The BFG (July 1) The live-action fantasy The BFG is based on the Roald Dahl children's book about a young orphan girl who meets a Big Friendly Giant. Together they must stop other giants from eating children. Steven Spielberg directs from an adapted screenplay by Melissa Mathison (E.T.).

Ghostbusters (July 15) Who you gonna call? Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones are the busters of ghosts in this reimagining of the ’80s supernatural comedy, from director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat).

Star Trek Beyond (July 22) Director Justin Lin (veteran of many Fast and/or Furious movies) takes over the space-adventure franchise for the third installment of the rebooted series, featuring Idris Elba as a mysterious alien villain who menaces the crew of the Enterprise.

The Bourne 5 (July 29) Matt Damon reprises the title character Jason Bourne in the fifth film of the spy franchise.

Suicide Squad (August 5) Based on the DC Comics, Suicide Squad comprises of super-villains who performed covert ops for the government in exchange for lighter prison sentences. Led by Amanda Waller, the most prominent members include Deadshot, Joker, Harley Quinn, Enchantress, Boomerang and Rick Flagg. David Ayer directs from a script by Justin Marks.

The Magnificent Seven (September 23) MGM is remaking the western The Magnificent Seven, which itself was a remake of The Seven Samurai. A Mexican village hired seven gunslingers to fight off a ruthless gang of bandits. The script is by Nic Pizzolatto.

Deepwater Horizon (September 30) Mark Wahlberg will play the No. 2 manager on the oil rig Deepwater Horizon. The film chronicles the 48 hours leading up to the 2010 disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. Peter Berg directs and adapts from the New York Times article "Deepwater Horizon's Final Hour".

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (October 21)Tom Cruise reprises the role of Jack Reacher in a sequel based on 'Never Go Back', the 18th book in the series by Lee Child. Returning to his old military base in Virginia to visit an old flame, Reacher finds himself charged with assault and meeting a child who may be his daughter. Ed Zwick will direct and rewrite Richard Wenk’s script with Marshall Herskovitz.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (November 18) Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling herself penned the screenplay for this series spinoff, which takes place in New York City in 1926, and stars Eddie Redmayne as a wizard who collects magical creatures—and inadvertently allows them to escape.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (December 16) Disney’s strategy of bombarding the world with Star Wars movies continues with a story that takes place just before the events of the original 1977 film, following a group of rebel operatives as they plot to steal the plans for the Death Star.

HBO Finally Making Deadwood Movie

HBO swears they’re bringing back Swearingen.

By Brandon Wolfe

Since its premature cancellation in 2006, Deadwood has always been the one major HBO show that got away. The Sopranos, The Wire and Six Feet Under all got to come to their natural ending points, but Deadwood was cruelly cut short, and seemed for a decade to be fated to remain that way.

But sometimes our age of constant franchise resuscitation pays off because HBO is indeed finally committed to reviving the cult-fave Western. Programming president Michael Lombardo has confirmed that he has given series creator David Milch the go-ahead to make a movie that continues the story of Al Swearingen (Ian McShane) and the rest of the denizens of that muddy little South Dakota outpost.

“David has our commitment that we are going to do it,” says Lombardo. “He pitched what he thought generally the storyline would be — and knowing David, that could change. But it’s going to happen.”
Lombardo says that, while Milch has another project he’s currently working on, “the understanding is that when he is done with that he will turn his attention to [writing the] script for the Deadwood film.”

There’s also the matter of reuniting the show’s sprawling cast, many of whom have seen their stars rise significantly in the past ten years, which could prove tricky to any such reunion. “I’m going to leave that in David’s hands,” Lombardo said. “He’s confident he will be able to. The cast is unbelievably [tight],” he adds. “Some casts and creators form a bond that becomes relevant for the rest of their lives. This was a defining moment for a lot of them.”

Time to let the 10-letter C-word loose once more.

Michael Bay To Direct Another #Transformers Film

Every time Michael Bay confirms he’s directing a new Transformers installment, it seems as though he’s also announcing that this will definitely be his last time running around with the robots. He’s preparing to make the fifth film and, as always, is convinced it’s his final fling with the franchise.

Talking with Rolling Stone while busily finishing his latest, based-on-reality thriller 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers Of Benghazi, Bay mentions Transformers, and the magazine’s visit to his palatial Miami home also finds him in conference with a team from ILM about early effects work for the film, including a crashed alien spaceship and a new dumper truck robot featuring a cloak. Yes, we’re definitely back in Bay Transformers territory.

He’s quick to add, however, that he really, truly wants to step off the tiring train that is the franchise this time. "Transformers, I still have a great time. It's fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else."

Paramount, of course, is keeping the flame alive, gathering writers to dream up ideas for a range of films, with Art Marcum and Matt Holloway at work alongside Black Hawk Down’s Ken Nolan on the latest script, which Bay will turn his full attention to once he’s finished promoting 13 Hours. Taking aim at an unspecified 2017 release date, the film is expected to open up the Transformers universe even further to help spur future instalments and spin-offs. As for Bay? He wants to do other things. "J.J. Abrams told me, 'You're the only guy that could do this.' But it's time to move on. One more."
