BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Is Natalie Portman Heading To Jupiter?

A year ago, Natalie Portman was the hottest actress around. The “ Black Swan ” star was sweeping awards and earning the sine qua non of actor heat, the "Saturday Night Live" parody. She even survived an ill-timed dorky laugh. But Portman didn’t get to indulge in the main perk that comes from winning an Oscar — booking a big, prestigious movie. Portman was five months pregnant when she accepted the golden statuette last February, and pretty much stopped working afterward so she and costar/choreographer Benjamin Millipied could have their son, Aleph, who was born in June. She hasn’t worked since. (Portman could be seen in several movies last spring — “Your Highness” and “Thor” — but she shot those before her pregnancy.) Could Portman soon be coming out of her baby-induced hiatus? According to a person briefed on the project who was not authorized to talk about it publicly, the actress has been courted by Lana and Andy Wachowski to star in “ Jupiter Ascending ,” the science-

Showtime & Antoine Fuqua To Deliver Suge Knight Film

Just weeks after Showtime bowed its Paul McCartney documentary, the premium cable network is delving into another music-themed effort with Suge Knight . Training Day’s Antoine Fuqua will direct and produce the tentatively titled project based on the life and exploits of the Death Row Records co-founder. Black Swan’s Bradley J. Fischer will produce alongside Fuqua. The Knight doc is the first in a series of new documentaries produced by Showtime that will spotlight iconic and controversial figures to be overseen by filmmakers. “Suge Knight’s reputation and rise to power in the music business has become the stuff of legend, and he remains one of the entertainment industry’s most provocative and enduring myths,” Fischer said in a statement announcing the news Tuesday. “But while his name elicits an immediate and powerful reaction from people around the world, very few can legitimately claim to know the man. Antoine Fuqua and I are thrilled to be partnering with Showtime to tell th

Human Nature For George Clooney & Darren Aronofsky

Two months after Darren Aronofsky announced that he wouldn’t be making The Wolverine , Vulture has learned that the Black Swan director has set his sights on a new film: a fifteen-year-old original sci-fi spec script called Human Nature by a little-known screenwriter named Jeff Welch. George Clooney is attaching himself to star as a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species. Insiders tell us that Warner Bros.–based producer Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend) is currently budgeting the movie, but if things go to plan, this would likely be Aronofsky’s next project. Did Natalie Portman Pull A Quick One in Black Swan?

The ballerina who served as a dancing double for Natalie Portman’s Oscar-winnning role in Black Swan tells EW she has been the victim of a “cover-up” to mislead the public about how much dancing Portman actually did in the film. “ Of the full body shots, I would say 5 percent are Natalie ,” says Sarah Lane , 27, an American Ballet Theatre soloist who performed many of the film’s complicated dance sequences, allowing Portman’s face to be digitally grafted onto her body. “All the other shots are me.” Lane’s claim follows a March 23 L.A. Times article in which Portman’s fiancé and Black Swan choreographer Benjamin Millepied said Lane’s work in the film was far less significant. “There are articles now talking about her dance double [American Ballet Theatre dancer Sarah Lane] that are making it sound like [Lane] did a lot of the work, but really, she just did the footwork, and the fouettés, and one diagonal [phrase] in the studio,” he said. “Honestly, 85 percent of that movie is Nata

Darren Aronofsky Will Not Direct The Wolverine Sequel

Darren Aronofsky is bowing out of directing 20th Century Fox’s sequel The Wolverine , saying the project would keep him out of the country for too long. Fox and Hugh Jackman - who is set to return in the title role - said they remain fully committed to making Wolverine and will move aggressively to find a new director. Fox hadn’t yet greenlit the sequel. A significant portion of the movie will be shot overseas (there had been plans to shoot in Japan). "As I talked more about the film with my collaborators at Fox, it became clear that the production of The Wolverine would keep me out of the country for almost a year,” Aronofsky said in a joint statement with Fox. “I was not comfortable being away from my family for that length of time. I am sad that I won't be able to see the project through, as it is a terrific script and I was very much looking forward to working with my friend, Hugh Jackman, again,” he continued. Stated Fox: “While we are of course disappointed th

Exclusive Interview With Kristina Anapau, She Talks Black Swan & Superman Reboot

I had the chance to get an Exclusive Interview with Kristina Anapau last week and get some insight to how she prepared for her role in Black Swan . I also tried to twist her arm for more information about the rumors about her auditioning for the upcoming SuperMan reboot . Kristina had planned to become a classical ballerina, having trained seriously since the age of 5. But after graduating from high school at fifteen (Yes 15) she attended the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, where she was discovered and cast in an Oahu-filmed television movie Escape From Atlantis; that was the start of her career. She made her rounds on to Television shows ( CSI: NY,House ) and smaller movie roles, then she was cast in Cruel Intentions 3 (Cassidy Merteuil). Next up was a staring role in the Wes Craven Horror film Cursed starring opposite Shannon Elizabeth, Jesse Eisenberg and Milo Ventimiglia. Anapau was a cover model for Stuff magazine. She was also one of Stuff magazine's "103 Sexies

Natalie Portman Shopping "BYO"

Natalie Portman Is A Dirty Girl Natalie Portman goes sapphic with Mila Kunis in the upcoming " Black Swan ." Now she's getting her racy on in a different way. For the past few weeks, Portman and college friend Laura Moses have been shopping to Hollywood studios a ribald comedy that they have written, said two studio executives who've read the script. The project, called " BYO " (for Bring Your Own ), concerns two very different twentysomething women who, after finding themselves unlucky in love, decide to throw a party to which each female attendee brings an eligible bachelor. The executives who've read the script describe it as a female-themed " Superbad ." Portman would star as one of the female leads and produce the movie, and the studio executives said they'd been told Anne Hathaway has expressed interest in the second lead role. The project, which has been passed on by several Hollywood studios, could still get made via eit

Natalie Portman Cuaron’s Gravity

Natalie Portman In Negotiations To Star In "Gravity" His “ Gravity ” script might be having trouble achieving orbit, but Jonas Cuaron’s relationship with Warner Bros. is soaring. The upshot is that the studio is in active negotiations with Natalie Portman , who has shot to the top of the most-wanted actress list off the heat generated from her performance in Darren Aronofsky ’s “ Black Swan .” The studio has picked up an untitled pitch from the scribe, with Hollywood Gang attached to produce. Logline details are being sequestered, but the project is a gritty thriller set in Mexico City. Cuaron co-wrote “ Gravity ” with his father, director Alfonso Cuaron. It initially was set up at Universal as an Angelina Jolie vehicle but then migrated to Warners, where it eventually lost Jolie. A round of testing new actresses began, as well as a re-engagement with Jolie, which was for naught. Please Leave A Comment- Source- THR

Natalie Portman Would Be Willing To Do A Professional Sequel

Portman Wants To Be A Cleaner Again Just three years after saying she had no interest in doing a sequel to her 1994 debut film The Professional —known internationally as Leon— Natalie Portman has changed her tune. But her willingness to return to the role that made her a young star is dependent on one condition. According to MTV, Portman says she'd come back for a sequel only if original director Luc Besson was behind the camera again. Besson, for his part, has actually written a sequel called Mathilda , which focuses on Portman's character, but has said he has no interest in directing. Portman says she has not even looked at the script for that very reason: "I have never read it because Luc won't direct it himself, and so I'm only interested if he (directs) ... I told him if he would do it himself, I would do it in two seconds. But he won't, so ... " Besson himself, the French filmmaker known for directing La Femme Nikita and The Fifth Element

Black Swan & The Wrestler Were One In The Same

Black Swan & The Wrestler Were One In The Same In some strange parallel universe, one in which filmmaker Darren Aronofsky made some of his choices a little bit differently, " The Wrestler " and his upcoming follow-up "Black Swan" exist as a single film, one about the coupling of a wrestler and a ballet dancer. Bizarre? Absolutely. Aronofsky nonetheless looks at the two films -- the older of which garnered two Oscar nominations while the newer will kick off the Venice Film Festival in a couple days -- as part of a single line of thought. "I've always considered the two films companion pieces," They are really connected and people will see the connections. It's funny, because wrestling some consider the lowest art — if they would even call it art — and ballet some people consider the highest art. But what was amazing to me was how similar the performers in both of these worlds are. They both make incredible use of their bodies to express thems

Winona Ryder To Star In "Black Swan"

Winona Ryder Is Going To The Ballet. "Swan" centers on a young dancer at the New York City Ballet (Portman) who may or may not be having delusions about a rival dancer (Kunis).
