The Sorcerer's Apprentice Light's And Magic

The Sorcerer's Apprentice Light's And Magic

Are you ready for a live action Sorcerer's Apprentice film? I am very excited to see how John Turteltaub puts his flavor on this beloved Disney movie. The featurette is pretty interesting how they bring an animated film to life.

Enjoy the clip after the jump..

Walt Disney Studios, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub, the creators of the “National Treasure” franchise, present THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE — an innovative and epic comedy adventure about a sorcerer and his hapless apprentice who are swept into the center of an ancient conflict between good and evil.

Balthazar Blake (NICOLAS CAGE) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defendthe city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (ALFRED MOLINA). Balthazar can’t do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (JAY BARUCHEL), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. It’ll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE. The screenplay is by Matt Lopez and Doug Miro & Carlo Bernard from a screen story by Matt Lopez and Larry Konner & Mark Rosenthal.

New Green Lantern Poster From Warner Bros. Lot

New Green Lantern Poster From Warner Bros. Lot

Bleeding Cool got their hands on these two photos of Green Lantern movie posters spotted at Warner Bros. lot. More like an art version of Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan rather than a an actual shot of Reynolds. At least this is a taste to what we should expect during Comic-Con this year.

Image of Reynolds after the jump..

Here is the official synopsis for Green Lantern, which is scheduled to hit theaters on June 17th, 2011:

'Bringing the enduringly popular superhero to the big screen for the first time, “Green Lantern” stars Ryan Reynolds (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) in the title role, under the direction of Martin Campbell (“Casino Royale”).

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Campbell directs “Green Lantern” from a screenplay by Greg Berlanti & Michael Green & Marc Guggenheim and Michael Goldenberg, story by Greg Berlanti & Michael Green & Marc Guggenheim, based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics.

The film also stars Blake Lively (upcoming “The Town,” TV’s “Gossip Girl”) as the spirited Carol Ferris, a test pilot and the heir apparent to her father’s aviation company; Peter Sarsgaard (“An Education,” “Flightplan”) as scientist Dr. Hector Hammond; Mark Strong (“Sherlock Holmes”) as Sinestro, Jordan’s powerful mentor in the Green Lantern Corps; Jay O. Sanders (“Revolutionary Road”) as Carl Ferris, Carol’s aircraft designer dad; Temuera Morrison (“Star Wars” Episodes II and III) as Abin Sur, Jordan’s alien predecessor; Taika Waititi (TV’s “The Flight of the Conchords”) as flight navigator Tom Kalmaku, Hal’s good friend and confidante; Academy Award® nominee Angela Bassett (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”) as enigmatic government scientist Amanda Waller; and Academy Award® winner Tim Robbins (“Mystic River”) as Hector’s influential father, Senator Robert Hammond.

The film is being produced by Donald De Line (“The Italian Job”) and Greg Berlanti (upcoming “Life As We Know It”). Herbert W. Gains and Andrew Haas serve as executive producers. Geoff Johns and Lucienne Papon are co-producing.

The film’s behind-the-scenes creative team is led by a number of Academy Award® winners, including director of photography Dion Beebe (“Memoirs of a Geisha”), production designer Grant Major (“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”), and costume designer Ngila Dickson (“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”), as well as Oscar®-nominated editor and longtime Campbell collaborator, Stuart Baird (“Gorillas in the Mist,” “Superman”). The film’s visual effects are being overseen by Oscar®-nominee Kent Houston (“The Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen,” “Casino Royale”).

The film is currently scheduled for release in 3D and 2D on June 17, 2011. “Green Lantern.”

Toy Story Characters Return In Cars 2

Toy Story Characters To Return In Cars 2

I know many of you out there will be going to see Toy Story 3 this weekend and thought of never seeing the toys on the big screen again after Toy Story 3.

We have an updated from Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich revealed in an interview and on Twitter that there will be a new short film with the characters of Toy Story attached to Cars 2, in theatres June 24 next summer.

"We’re going to keep [the characters] alive; they’re not going away forever," says Unkrich in the MSN Movies interview.

This will undoubtedly be one of the new Toy Story Toons produced at Pixar Canada in Vancouver and will probably play in addition to the regular theatrical short we've come to expect.

Toy Story 3 Easter Eggs

Toy Story 3 Easter Eggs

This is an Amazing job that a few site put together. I can only imagine how long this took(I would never have the patience to compile all these facts) , but it is great. As you know Pixar loves to throw in fun little Easter eggs into there film, inside jokes, cameos of other Pixar characters, and several other things that make watching these Pixar movies that much more fun. There's been a collection of Toy Story 3 Easter eggs that recently hit the internet, and I thought I would pass them along to you.

Please remember some of you out there may consider this a Spoiler due to the face you will see images from the film. So you have been warned.

So here we go...

Home Town Map:

Behind Andy's bed is a map of the world marked with pushpins. Those pushpins each correspond to the hometowns of the film's production team.

 Cutting Blvd Sign:

 W. Cutting Blvd. is the street where Pixar was originally located in Richmond, CA.

 Sid's Back:

The original evil Toy  Sid will make a cameo in the film! I bet you all are wondering what happened to him? Maybe a crazy house? No, but he turns out to be the garbage man. You'll be able to point him out because he's still sporting the skull t-shirt.

Newt Crossing Sticker:

On the door behind Andy is a yellow Sticker which says Newt Crossing. This is a reference to another Pixar movie that is supposed to come out in 2012 but it's having development problems.

Since the first Toy Story, Andy's mom has had the license plate A113, this is a reference to an animation room at CalArts. This number pops up across the animation world as an in-joke in dozens of films and TV series, everything from The Iron Giant to The Simpsons. In Toy Story 3 the plate is surrounded by a frame that says "Tiger Pride," a reference to director Lee Unkrich's hometown of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and his high school mascot.

Finn McMissile:

Check out the car poster by Andy's bed. That's a hint at a new character, Finn McMissile, who will debut in Cars 2. A full design for the character was shown off at last year's D23, showing Finn as a James Bond-esque Aston Martin.

Buy n Large:

The Buy n Large batteries brand is from the Pixar film Wall-E

Courtesy of Studio Ghibli, Totoro himself makes an appearance in the form of one of Bonnie's plush toys.

Boo From Monster's Inc.

But what about Monsters Inc 2? Pixar fanatics have been speculating that one of the young girls at the daycare center looks suspiciously like a more grown up version of Boo:

The train engine in the opening sequence has a big 95 on the front, a reference to the year that the first Toy Story was released and the racing number of Cars' Lightning McQueen.

The yellow banner flag hanging on the wall says PU, which stands for Pixar University, a professional-development program for Pixar employees.

Postcard from Carl Fredricksen:

The postcard on Andy's board says Carl and Ellie Fredricksen who are from Pixar's film UP.

Nemo Sticker:

There's a sticker at the bottom of Andy's toy chest of Nemo from Finding Nemo.

The 237 number in the screenname is a reference to director Lee Unkrich’s favorite movie The Shining.

The version of Barbie they use in the film is modeled after Great Shape Barbie from 1983.

The version of Ken in the movie is modeled after Animal Lovin' Ken from 1988.

Lotso is one of the new main characters in Toy Story 3, he had a cameo in the film Up, but also appeared 15 years earlier in the first Toy Story film.

Toy characters:

Look for a number of toy variations on other Pixar characters. Check out Boo and Mike from Monsters, Inc.and a wooden Lightning McQueen.

Snot Red:

The calendar in Andy’s room which used to show an image from A Bug’s Life now has a picture of a Snot Rod, a character from Cars.

Bradley Cooper Sent To The Minors

Bradley Cooper Sent To The Minors

Disney has snagged an untitled baseball pitch from "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" scribe Allan Loeb with Bradley Cooper attached to star. Andrew Panay is on board to produce with Loeb and his Scarlet Fire Entertainment partner Steven Pearl.

The dramedy centers on a baseball player who gets injured and has to go back to the minors where the only place he can find lodging is in a senior citizens' home. There, he meets an old baseball guru who helps lead him back.

Panay concocted the idea with his Panay Films development exec Adam Blum. Panay then took it to Pearl and Loeb as the trio had been looking for something to partner on. Loeb, whose career has been on fire since writing "Money Never Sleeps," took to the idea and carved time in his busy schedule to develop and create the story.

The project is said to be in the vein of "Scent of a Woman" and "The Rookie," the latter an inspirational sports drama starring Dennis Quaid that Disney released in 2002. The sale of the pitch shows that despite Disney's much-ballyhooed focus on brands and tentpoles, there appears to be room for movies with heart.

Howard And Grazer To Adapt "Legends" Graphic Novel

Howard And Grazer To Adapt "Legends" Graphic Novel

Classic fairy tales are drawing Hollywood heat, with Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment and Radical Pictures the latest to work their magic.

The two are teaming to develop for the big screen “Legends,” a graphic novel from Radical’s publishing arm that brings together such characters as Red Riding Hood, Jack the Giant Killer and Hansel & Gretel in a dark fantasy setting.

The story in “Legends” is set in motion when the remains of Pinocchio are discovered. Red Hood, now a noted wolf hunter, and Jack partner to discover who is murdering the creatures of folklore. Along the way, they are assisted by characters such as Goldilocks, re-imagined as a mercenary, and Hansel & Gretel, now psychic exterminators.

The world of the graphic novel is a mash-up of steampunk and creatures, technology and magic.

Nick Percival created the graphic novel, which comes out this month.

The interest in classic characters was spurred by the billion-dollar success of Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland.” Disney also is working on a retelling of the “Sleeping Beauty” tale focusing on the evil demon queen Maleficent, and it has made a seven-figure deal with “Devil Wears Prada” writer Aline Brosh McKenna for a re-imagining of “Cinderella.”

Not all of the projects, which are all in the public domain, are at Disney. Relativity Media hopes to make an edgy “Snow White” movie, and several companies, including Warner Bros. and Disney, are working on “Wizard of Oz” stories.

Imagine produced the recent “Robin Hood” pic and is trying to put together a cast for its comedy “Fantasy Basketball Camp.”

Radical has graphic-novel adaptations in the works including “Last Days of American Crime,” based on the work by Rick Remender to which Sam Worthington is attached to star, and “Oblivion,” being developed with “Tron Legacy” director Joe Kosinski.

Tron To Take Over Comic-Con 2010

Tron To Take Over Comic-Con 2010

ComiTRON takes over Comic-Con International 2010 in San Diego on July 22nd!

Returning for an unprecedented third year to the fans and Convention that “started it all,” Walt Disney Pictures is pleased to present a very special, insider look at its upcoming “TRON: Legacy” at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con International Convention. At 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2010, the panel presentation will be held in Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center. On the dais will be filmmakers and talent from the film, including director Joe Kosinski, producer Sean Bailey and cast members Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Michael Sheen and Bruce Boxleitner. The panel discussion, to be moderated by Patton Oswalt, is set to include exclusive glimpses of the film, as well as a Q & A involving all panel participants, along with special surprise guests.

It was at the 2008 Convention that the vision of a 21st century TRON was born. When VFX test footage was shown to a packed hall of incredibly surprised convention attendees, it was met with such an overwhelmingly positive response—becoming the “it” moment of the Convention—that the studio gave the film an enthusiastic green light. In 2009 “TRON: Legacy” returned to Comic-Con with an expanded presence and this year, the filmmakers and cast are back with never before seen visuals and “scoop” for the Convention fans who have been such an instrumental part of the story of “TRON: Legacy.”
Director Joe Kosinski comments: “When we made the teaser, we envisioned it as a sneak peak at the potential of this project. We set out to stay true to the characters, the vehicles, and the world established in the first film—then show its evolution. When it took off with the fans, we knew we were in the right place. Because they’ve been key to getting this story told, we’re back to keep them involved, and excited to finally present actual footage from the film to the audience that made it all possible.”

To add to the excitement of this extraordinary event, Disney will showcase an interactive TRON booth on the convention floor (located on aisle #3712), giving fans a first look at the all new “TRON: Legacy” inspired merchandise launching this fall. Capturing the action, light, and cool aesthetic style of the film, the display will include toys, electronics, collectibles, apparel, accessories, publishing and the “TRON: Evolution” video game from Disney Interactive Studios. Comic-Con exclusive products will also be on sale. Disney will also reveal exciting new mobile content at the event.

About “TRON: Legacy
“TRON: Legacy” is a 3D action-packed adventure set in a digital world unlike anything captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), a rebellious 27-year-old, is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (Oscar® and Golden
Globe® winner Jeff Bridges), a man once known as the world’s leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the abandoned Flynn’s Arcade—that could have only come from his father—he finds himself pulled into a world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years. With the help of the fearless warrior Quorra (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-or-death journey across a visually stunning universe—created by Kevin Himself—which has become far more advanced with never-before-imagined vehicles, weapons and landscapes, and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape.

Presented in Disney Digital 3D™ and scored by Grammy Award®–winning electronic music duo Daft Punk, “TRON: Legacy” hits theaters on December 17, 2010.

The Monster Squad Remake Finds It's Writers

The Monster Squad Remake Finds It's Writers

Screenwriting cousins  Mark and Brian Gunn have been hired to write Paramount's remake of "The Monster Squad." Rob Cohen, who produced the original film, will produce and direct the new version.

Here is the trailer for the original film. Man brings back some memories.

The 1987 original, which Fred Dekker directed from a script he co-wrote with Shane Black, concerns a group of kids who discover a plot by Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Gill Man and The Mummy to try and take over the world. Cohen is already familiar with the latter creature, since he last directed the Universal sequel "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor," which grossed $389 million worldwide.

The studio is looking to the family-oriented property as a potential franchise.
