Hailee Steinfeld , Oscar-nominated for the Coen Bros’ True Grit , is in negotiations to star as Juliet in a new Romeo and Juliet movie. Carlo Carlie , an Italian director perhaps best known for the 1992 festival foreign film Flight of the Innocent , is behind the camera for the adaptation of the William Shakespeare classic, which has a some big names behind it. Julian Fellowes, whose screenwriting credits range from Gosford Park to The Tourist, wrote the script and is producing along with Garbiele Muccino, the director of the Will Smith drama Seven Pounds, as well as former New Line execs-turned-producers Ileen Maisel and Mark Ordesky. Trailer For "True Grit" Starring Jeff Bridges & Matt Damon The Coen Bros . have another winner on their hands here with this film. We got our hands on the new trailer for their upcoming film True Grit starring Jeff Bridges as Marshall Rooster Cogburn, played in the original old movie by the late John Wayne in his Oscar winning performance. Josh Brolin and Matt Damon also star in the film along side Hailee Steinfeld who plays the lead character Mattie Ross. Coen Bros.‘ version of  the film will be a closer adaption of the Charles Portis book rather then a remake of the 1969 John Wayne film. Watch the trailer after the Jump.. Matt Damon and Josh Brolin To Star In Remake Of "True Grit" Not sure any man can really step in to John Wayne's Shoes but it looks like Matt Damon is going to see if the shoe fits. Interesting move for the Coen Brothers to go this route with a remake to a 1947 western movie. If anyone can pull it off, it would be these two guys. Matt Damon is in discussions to star in Ethan and Joel Coen 's remake of " True Grit ." Josh Brolin, who starred in the brothers' "No Country for Old Men," is also in talks for a major role. Paramount Pictures and the Oscar-winning writer-director team are moving fast on their re-adaptation of the Charles Portis novel, first reaching out to Jeff Bridges, and now Damon and Brolin, to potentially star.
