BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Chris Evans Joins Marc Webb's "Gifted"

Deadline is reporting The Amazing Spider-Man 2 helmer Marc Webb has locked as his next film Gifted at Fox Searchlight. Chris Evans has been set to star in the Tom Flynn-scripted drama, which focuses on a man who sues for custody of his gifted niece. While that film will come first, with production to begin in the fall, there is also movement on The Only Living Boy In New York, the Allan Loeb-scripted film. Loeb’s script made the Black List. Evans is currently shooting Captain America: Civil War, the film that unveils the new Spider-Man, first time for a Marvel Studios film. Fox 2000, and discussions are underway with Jeff Bridges and Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike to round out an unusual romantic triangle for a film that would shoot next year. Teller is attached to play a recent college grad who learns that his overbearing father is having an affair. The son tries to stop it, only to become involved with the woman as well. With advice from a questionable quirky neighbor, the yo

The 'Amazing Spider-man 3' Story We (Thankfully) Never Got to See

New details arise about the script that was (thankfully) never produced. Story by Matt Cummings When Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios/Disney agreed this year to co-produce future Spider-Man films and (finally) bring Peter Parker into the MCU, it did two important things, one of which was only recently revealed. Sure, the agreement allows Ol' Webhead to enter the MCU at the right time - 2018/2019's Infinity War as well as a possible role in 2016's Captain America: Civil War - but another reason has only recently rose to the surface. On Monday, MTV and IGN released interviews from two former stars of The Amazing Spider-man series: Actor Dennis Leary and Director Marc Webb. When asked separately about his experience on set, Leary, who played Captain George Stacy, stunned audiences with the following. "I was disappointed because I’m totally selfish and greedy. I came back briefly in two and possibly in [The Amazing Spider-Man] 3, there was this idea a

Weekend Box Office Wrap-Up

Captain America reaches new highs, while Amazing Spider-man 2 gets beat in its second week. Story by: Matt Cummings It seems as though even the best marketing in the world can still leave audiences a little wanting to see a Summer blockbuster, even when it appears near the top of our May Preview . That's unfortunately been the case with The Amazing Spider-man 2 , as domestic audiences have apparently deserted the film in droves. In only its second week of release, the Peter Parker/Gwen Stacy set up for Sinister Six was beat out by the comedy Neighbors , which took in a terrific $51.7m, eclipsing the webslinger's $37.2m. Perhaps its somewhat cool response by critics ( ours included ) and audiences have contributed to the numbers? That's certainly not what Sony had in mind, but they have to be happy when comparing it to another superhero flick Captain America: The Winter Solider . After 10 days of release, ASM2 has taken in domestically $147.9m as compared

Weekend Box Office Report: Amazing Spider-man 2 on Top, But...

Was The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ...amazing at the box office? Read on to find out! Does the timid opening spell a larger problem with Sony's rollout plan? Story by: Matt Cummings  The Amazing Spider-man 2 scored one of the best opening weekends of 2014, but it didn't come close to that of its predecessors.  According to our friends at BoxOfficeMojo, the film opened domestically to an estimated $92 million.  That's below Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($95 million) but higher than overall winner  The LEGO Movie  ($69 million) and 2013's Thor: The Dark World ($85.7 million).   As usual, American movies are dong much better overseas, scoring $277 million in two extra weeks of release.  When adding those numbers, it has a good chance to beat ASM 's $490 million total. But, compared to previous releases in the series, this is a disappointing debut. Check out previous opening releases in both the Marc Webb and Sam Raimi era: ASM: $62 million Sp

May 2014 Movie(s) On Our Radar

Read on to learn if Hollywood's first swing into Summer 2014 bring too many players to the game. Story by: Matt Cummings When we wrote our Most Anticipated List of 2014, it included April was an interesting month, filled with surprising hits ( God's Not Dead ), guaranteed winners ( Captain America: The Winter Soldier ) and several notable duds ( Need for Speed and Sabotage ).  But now, it's on to May and the beginning of the summer season, a time when Hollywood begins to play its big cards hoping for long lines and plenty of popcorn sales.  May 2013 saw the mammoth Iron Man 3 , while 2012 featured a little film called The Avengers , so 2014 arrives filled to the gills with several interesting titles worth mentioning.  Several appeared in our MOST ANTICIPATED LIST FOR 2014 , and it's great to finally see them arrive. The schedule includes a human spider, a 350 foot lizard, a witch, some mutants, and a sexually depraved police officer. The Amazing Spider-M

2014 Big Movie Questions

Big Movie Questions of 2014  By: Matt Cummings Read on to learn whether our Big Movie Questions of 2014 might need to be re-titled 'Top Movie Questions of 2015.' With 2013 in the books, we're continuing a tradition here at SJF by looking forward to the big movie questions of 2014. And while last year provided us with entertaining answers to the questions we posed back in February, 2014 looks to have just as many. Without any fanfare whatsoever, we now present the Big Movie Questions of 2014 . Is 2015 already eclipsing 2014? Take a look at 2015, and you'll see what could be the most impressive list of films to come in a single year: The Avengers: Age of Ultron , the as-yet-untitled Batman/Superman movie, Fast 7 , and Mission: Impossible are but a few. Moviegoers are salivating for these tentpole titles, while ignoring the potentially bigger releases of 2014, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier , Guardians of the Galaxy, Transformers: Age of E

New Clip From The Amazing Spider-Man 2

You may recall that in mid-December the first full trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swung online. Hidden within was a URL for a website (then called " electroarrives ", now mysteriously renamed " enemiesunite ") on the single page of which was a countdown to New Year's Eve. What would happen then? Now we know: it's a new teaser trailer for the film, introduced by Stan "The Man" Lee himself, true believers! Unsurprisingly given the location where it was revealed, the new clip expands on the glimpses we'd already seen of some Spidey-vs-Electro action in New York's Times Square. There is quipping and there is thwipping. The film sees Peter Parker ( Andrew Garfield ) more comfortable in his Spider-skin these days and enjoying his abilities, along with girlfriend Gwen Stacey ( Emma Stone ). But his good mood is about to be tested when new villains appear in the shape of Jamie Foxx's Electro and Paul Giamatti's Rhino, and

New Images Of Foxx's Electro From The Amazing Spider-Man 2

In the new issue of Empire (out on Tuesday, December 31), as we preview the 25 biggest films to watch out for in 2014. One of those is The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , and the magazine holds an in-depth look at the villain of the piece, Jamie Foxx's Max Dillon. Here, to give you just a taste of what's inside, are two new images of Electro - but if you are spoiler-averse, one of these images shows a recognisable silhouette standing in front of Electro, so tread carefully and don't look too closely. The second Spider-film, of course, sees Andrew Garfield's friendly neighbourhood Spidey come up against a range of baddies, just as he's beginning to settle in and enjoy his super-powered life and super-hot girlfriend Gwen Stacey ( Emma Stone ). The new ne'er-do-wells include Paul Giamatti's Rhino, Foxx's Electro and Dane DeHaan's Harry Osborne (and, it seems from the trailer, Green Goblin). Please Leave A Comment- Source- Empire
