BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Disney Says Bye To Spider-Man In Any Upcoming Films For Now

Deadline is reporting Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige won’t produce any further Spider-Man films because of an inability by Disney and Sony Pictures to reach new terms that would have given the former a co-financing stake going forward. A dispute that has taken place over the past few months at the top of Disney and Sony has essentially nixed Feige, and the future involvement of Marvel from the Spider-Man universe, sources said. This comes at a moment when the last two films Kevin Feige produced broke all-time records — Disney’s Avengers: Endgame became the highest grossing film of all time, and Spider-Man: Far From Home this week surpassed the James Bond film Skyfall to become the all time highest grossing film for Sony Pictures. Sources said there are two more Spider-Man films in the works that are meant to have director Jon Watts and Tom Holland front and center. Unless something dramatic happens, Feige won’t be the lead creative producer of those pictures. There is

#MarvelCollectorCorps Review: August 2016

Marvel Collector Corps' SPIDER-MAN box arrives 3 WEEKS LATE and filled with disappointment. Review by Matt Cummings With the sting of the disastrous Marvel Super Box - now called "Stupor Box" - still in our noses, we were hopeful that this month's Spider-man box would deflect our extreme worry at MCC's current trajectory. Sadly, a very late arrival and another disappointment puts Marvel Collector Corps in a tailspin and their future in doubt. The Promise Before we begin, let's look at the original deal and MCC's current offering: promising a value of $50, regular boxes would keep the "fluff" (their words) to a minimum with Funko partnering each time to deliver an exclusive figure. Regardless if you joined at the Founders level or took on a per-box delivery, the Year One box was offered for an additional cost of $135 after tax. That's approximately the price of 4 regular boxes. Founders (like myself) were offered first cra

Venom Movie Back On

Now that Sony has set Spider-Man on its rebooted path, the studio is setting its sights on other Spider-Man franchises. Case in point: Venom . Sony has tapped Dante Harper to pen a script for Venom , something that is being envisioned as a franchise apart from and unrelated to the upcoming Spider-Man movie in the works with actor Tom Holland . Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, among stewards of the Spider-Man properties, are producing and overseeing the project. Venom is one of Marvel’s top villains and a Spider-Man fixture since he was introduced in 1988, created by writer David Michelinie and artists Todd McFarlane and Mike Zeck. The character is an alien symbiote that needs a human host to survive. In return, the alien empowers its victim with incredible powers. For the longest time, Venom was a villain but then morphed into an antihero and even (almost) good guy. In his current incarnation, Venom is paired with Flash Thompson, a Peter Parker bully-turned-close friend and now a

#Zendaya Cast In The Spider-Man Reboot

According to Deadline Sony and Marvel Studios are beginning to cast up their Spider-Man reboot. Actress-singer Zendaya has landed a key role in the ensemble they are building around Tom Holland , who’ll play Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the film to be directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car). She was among the actresses who’ve quietly been testing for roles, and I hear she will play a character named Michelle. Nobody is providing details on whether this is the romantic lead opposite Peter Parker, but it doesn’t sound like it. In the comics, Parker romanced Mary Jane and Gwen. Please Leave A Comment-

Kevin Feige Talks The Importance Spider-Man’s Role Is In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

As the chief at Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige usually has a lot to say – within reason – about the future of the films he oversees. He spoke at an event to promote the release of Avengers: Age Of Ultron on home entertainment in LA on Tuesday night ( attended by IGN ) and expounded on several topics, including the new Spider-Man ’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Asked about the deal to bring Spidey – now to be played by Tom Holland – into the Marvel fold (at least occasionally), Feige was predictably upbeat. " Making that agreement was great, and was really amazing, and on a personal level making these movies, it means a lot because I think we can do great things with Spider-Man," he said. "I think Spider-Man can serve great purpose in our universe and that's where he belongs. That was what was unique about him in the comics was not that he was the only superhero in the world; it's that he was a totally different kind of superhero when compared against

Marvel Collector Corps Review: August 2015

After a smallish June, Marvel returns with a big Secret War theme. Review by Matt Cummings The subscription box war has seen Marvel enter the fray with it Collector Corps boxes, which resulted in a fabulous and memorable April , which was followed up by a somewhat disappointing June . While not a total failure like Fox's The Fantastic Four , it did show just how close Marvel had cozied-up with Funko Pop; whether that bothers you probably depends on a number of factors, including the addition of Pop! figures in every box. And while Ant-Man the movie has grown on me, I still can't say the same about that month's Collector Corp. So it's very satisfying to announce that August's box - SECRET WAR - is back with everything we loved about April, giving fans exactly what they want: quality exclusives, including a shirt. The Promise Before we begin, let's look at the deal again: promising a value of $50, the box would keep the "fluff" (the

Writers Hired For The New #SpiderMan Script

With Sony and Marvel joining forces to bring another iteration – albeit not an origin story this time – of Spider-Man to our screens, the elements needed to make the movie have been slotting into place. Tom Holland is aboard to play Peter Parker, Jon Watts will direct the film and now it appears the scriptwriters have been found, with John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein in negotiations. The pair have had a meteoric rise in the last few years, graduating from writing and producing comedies such as The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and the Horrible Bosses films to co-directing the new Vacation movie. And while not everything they’ve written has been a success, it’s worth noting that several of their drafts were changed before the films hit screens. There’s a chance that might happen with Spider-Man, as big tentpoles have a notorious habit of churning through script drafts and the writers who create them, but this pair has weathered the development storm on Vacation to
