The A-Team Official Trailer For The Film

Whats next? A Who's the boss movie.

From the preview you can get a feeling of the old TV show when you just hear the music in the back ground and how the characters are portated in the preview.

Yes I know Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is no Mr. T but who is the man is one of a kind.

A group of Iraq War veterans looks to clear their name with the U.S. military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed.

Daybreakers Movie Review By: Sandwichjohn

Daybreakers Movie Review
By:Sandwichjohn

Move over Edward Cullen there is a new Edward in town and his name is Edward Dalton. Played by Ethan Hawke, Edward is the main character of the latest vampire movie, Daybreakers. It is 2019 and a virus that emerged 10 years ago has turned most of the population into vampires. The vampires have been farming humans for their blood and the supply has run low. The search is on for a blood substitute and Edward is leading that search.

Edward is a conflicted vampire. You find out that he never wanted to become a vampire and avoids feeding on human blood. He has an accidental meeting a group of human survivors which leads to an important discovery. One of these humans, played by Willem Dafoe, has an interesting story to tell.

I enjoyed the movie. I am not a big fan of gore and it was gory in some parts but it fit with the storyline and wasn’t too extreme. It reminded me of I Am Legend in a way, both movies have a virus which turns humans into “monsters” that can only come out at night and the main characters are searching for a cure. (Both also have some cool cars). It wasn’t on the same level as I Am Legend but it was a decent movie. I was surprised that the theater was only a ¼ full on the Saturday night during its opening weekend. The ending left it open for a sequel but if it doesn’t pull in the money that won’t be happening.

I give it 7 sandwiches out of 10.

Hughes Brothers Turned Down Pirates of the Caribbean & Lone Ranger

Hughes Brothers Turned Down Pirates of the Caribbean & Lone Ranger

What a mistake, in my opinion I guess if the shoe doesn't fit don't wear it.

The brothers haven't had a hit since Menace To Society and Dead Presidents but I do have my fingers crossed with their up coming film The Book Of Eli.

Nearly a decade passed between films for Albert and Allen Hughes—2001's "From Hell" to next week's "Book of Eli"—but don't think for a second the twin brothers weren't busy. They pursued a bunch of different Hollywood projects, and were pursued for many more. Two such films, as MTV News has exclusively learned, were mammoth Disney productions.

The Hughes brothers were approached to direct both "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and "The Lone Ranger." Once Gore Verbinksi dropped out of the "Pirates" franchise in April after directing the first three films and before Rob Marshall signed on, the Hughes brothers met with Johnny Depp (their "From Hell" star) and Jerry Bruckheimer to discuss boarding the big screen flicks.

"That right there we had to entertain for a minute, one, because it came from Johnny and, two, because it came from Johnny," said Allen. "Johnny is one of the most lovely people you could encounter in this godforsaken business, and if he asked us to jump through fire, we'd do it."

Said Albert, "We were thinking, 'We're not those guys, but if Johnny wants us to do it, we'll talk to Johnny. He's cool.' We're seriously going to consider anything he says to us."

Even though they suspected they weren't the right filmmakers for the project, things might have worked out had the Hughes' not finally jumped back to directing. But by the time the "Pirates" meeting materialized, the duo was already knee-deep in post-production on "Book of Eli."

"It was just bad timing because we were in the middle of editing 'Eli,'" explained Allen. "When we fall in love with something, we're in love. It's like cheating on your woman to go, 'Oh, let's go start dating someone else.' That wasn't gonna happen. But it was so much appreciated to be in a room with Jerry Bruckheimer and Johnny and be talking about that."

The Hughes brothers had stayed in close touch with Depp since "From Hell," exchanging emails and making long distance phone calls, always holding out hope they'd work together again. "He knows and we know it doesn't get any easier than what we had together," said Albert. "We're all very similar in a way. We're all very sensitive and cynical at some points. Funny and goofy and we like relaxed sets. We don't like stress. We don't want to do this just to go make some money."

In that same meeting, Allen said, "We were also talking about 'Lone Ranger' "—another project Depp is set to star in (as sidekick Tonto). And the brothers thought deeply about both.

"We had to think about it because it's Johnny," said Allen. "But then it's Jerry Bruckheimer too. He has to make the decision and Johnny has to make the decision and even if Johnny wants to work with us, there are other octopus legs to that thing."

Ultimately, all involved decided that it wouldn't be the right fit. But Depp and his one-time directing team are still itching to get back on set together.

"We all want to work together again," said Allen. "We just have to find the right thing."

Marvel Sues To Keep Rights To Super Heroes

Marvel Sues To Keep Rights To Super Heroes

Marvel is suing to keep the rights to superheroes including Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and X-Men.

The federal lawsuit filed Friday in Manhattan asks a judge to invalidate notices sent by the heirs of artist Jack Kirby to try to terminate Marvel's copyrights.

The heirs sent notified several companies last year that the rights to the characters would revert from Marvel to Kirby's estate.

The lawsuit says Kirby's work on the comics were "for hire" and render the heirs' claims invalid.

Comic book characters such as Spider-Man and the X-Men have become some of Hollywood's most bankable properties in recent years.

Marc Toberoff, an attorney for the Kirby heirs, said he hadn't seen the lawsuit and had no immediate comment.

Tobey Maguire Upbeat About Spider-Man 4

Tobey Maguire Upbeat About Spider-Man 4

Tobey Maguire doesn't think "Spider-Man 4" has become a tangled mess.

The 34-year-old star of the web-slinging superhero franchise said preproduction snags aren't dampening his mood about the fourth installment. The next "Spider-Man" film had been scheduled to swing into theaters May 6, 2011, but that seems unlikely now that "Thor," another big-screen Marvel superhero adaptation, has hammered out the same release date.

"Like anything, it's a process," Maguire said Thursday. "We're just in the midst of the process. We have a lot of great stuff in terms of story and script. We're just trying to dial it in and get it ready as quickly as possible. Of course, these movies are a very big undertaking and take a lot more time than a drama or something more straightforward."

Marvel Studios spokesman Paul Pflug declined comment on reports that production had stalled amid script revisions.

Maguire, who has played Peter Parker in all three films, said the plan is to still release the movie in 2011, but wasn't more specific about the date. Whatever happens, he's enthusiastic about Spidey's future.

"Not only do I have specific ideas, but the ideas are evolving on the page," he said. "It's all happening right now. It's all sort of coming together. It's very exciting to me. I think the evolution of the character is really exciting, to be rooted in the history of what we've done already and to have a continuity, yet have a progression or evolution."

After glowing reaction to the first two chapters, critical response to 2007's "Spider-Man 3" was so-so. Director Sam Raimi was undecided about returning to the franchise after the third movie, but said at the Festival de Cannes last year that he didn't like "thinking about a world where somebody else was making the Peter Parker story."

Bill Paxton Wants A Twister Sequel

Bill Paxton Wants A Twister Sequel

In an interview with Bullz-Eye in conjunction with the season premiere of HBO’s “Big Love” (Sunday, Dec. 10th), Bill Paxton revealed that one of the items on his to-do list is a sequel to his 1996 blockbuster, “Twister.”

“I’ve had a meeting at the studio with Kathleen Kennedy about it,” Paxton said, whose inspiration for a sequel came as a result of a trip that he took to the Ozark Mountains last spring.

“I flew into St. Louis with my buddy Scott Thomson, who played Preacher in ‘Twister,’ and we rented a car and drove down to southeastern Missouri, into the Ozarks,” said Paxton. “We spent the night, and the next morning we got up and we started tracking the trail of the most famous tornado that ever hit the country, which was the Tri-State Tornado of 1925. It still holds all of the records. It was called the Tri-State because it was a mile wide when it came down from the sky on the afternoon of March 16, 1925, and it was a rural area, but, boy, before it was through, it crossed the Mississippi, it cut across southern Illinois, where it hit a lot of towns. The biggest one was Murphysboro, which was…it literally looked like Hiroshima after it hit. And then it went across the Wabash, into Indiana, staying on the ground three and a half hours and cutting a damage path 219 miles long, killing about 700 people. There’s actually footage that I found in Murphysboro at their historical society. They had footage from a biplane that the government sent down, just to do aerial footage of all of the destruction and the damage. So we just did that to kind of get some ideas, and from that I kind of extrapolated an idea for a sequel. And I kind of put that together into a format, and now we’re kind of waiting to see if that’s going to move forward. That would need Steven Spielberg’s blessing, ultimately, and they probably won’t take it to him ‘til there’s real studio interest, but I think the 3D applications of that could obviously be pretty amazing.

Although it may sound more serious than the original “Twister,” Paxton doesn’t think that fans of the first film would have any problem accepting the sequel. “I think you’d still want to have a lot of the dark humor and all of that, with the flying cows and everything,” he said, with a laugh. “I think you could kind of intrigue people more by getting into a little more of the lore and really understanding. I just think there’s a lot more to explore there. When I researched the first film when I was getting ready to do it, I just found so much stuff. Ultimately, I was happy with ‘Twister,’ but I also had thought that it could’ve gotten a little deeper into it.”

Ghost Rider 2: Spirt Of Vengeance Update

GHOST RIDER 2: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE Update.

As you can tell by looking over his resume, De Luca has produced over 50 films and he’s got tons of projects in development. While I’ll be posting updates on Metal Gear Solid, Butter, Fright Night, Dracula Year Zero and tons of other things in the coming days, tonight is all about Ghost Rider 2.

For those who don’t know, the sequel to Ghost Rider is moving ahead full steam with a script by David Goyer. According to De Luca, “We have an outline that David wrote that kind of adapts his 2001 script into today’s times with incorporating kind of an original idea of Nic’s.”

We talked about whether or not Mark Steven Johnson will be back directing and if Eva Mendes would return as Roxanne Simpson. Oh, and he told me the tentative title is Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. So much more after the jump:

Here’s the thing, if you’re a fan of Ghost Rider, the interview you’re about to read should make you extremely excited for a sequel. Everything De Luca and I talked about on and off the record tells me the studio knows the first film had issues and they’re really working hard to get the sequel right. Of course the proof is in the pudding, so how about these facts:

– Mark Steven Johnson is not directing the sequel

– Eva Mendes will not return as Roxanne Simpson

– Ghost Rider 2 (or Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance) will be a hard PG-13

– The film is going to take place in Europe

– De Luca is open to David Goyer directing the sequel but it all comes down to his very busy schedule

– Says the sequel will be like “pushing the reset button” on the franchise

– As you might expect from the success of Avatar, Ghost Rider 2 might be done in 3D

– Says Goyer has just delivered his updated outline to the studio

– And says Ghost Rider 2 could be in front of the cameras this year

"The Book of Eli" Hidden Easter Eggs In The Film

"The Book of Eli" Hidden Easter Eggs In The Film

Denzel Washington's upcoming post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie The Book of Eli knows it's only the latest in a long, venerable line of similarly themed movies, and it actually pays homage to them with easter eggs.

Brother directors Allen and Albert Hughes slipped references to post-apocalyptic films and other classics into Eli (
spoilers ahead!).

An example: When Eli (Denzel Washington) spends the night in Carnegie's (Gary Oldman) town, check the wall for a movie poster: It's from A Boy and His Dog, the 1975 apocalyptic movie that starred Don Johnson. Albert Hughes admitted the homage was not in the original screenplay.

"That was us," Albert said in an exclusive interview last month in Beverly Hills, Calif. "We put it in."

There's another wink to the famous movie in Eli, Albert added: "Also, one of the snipers on the rooftop in the shootout had the exact gun from
Boy and His Dog. That's Don Johnson's gun."

There are more posters to spot, too. "I think we even had
A Clockwork Orange in there," Albert said.

Screenwriter Gary Whitta said that his story was influenced by an obscure British apocalyptic movie. "When I was a kid growing up in the U.K., they made us watch this TV movie at school, a BBC film called Threads," Whitta told a group of reporters. "It's about a nuclear attack on Sheffield. It was kind of like our version of The Day After, where it was just brutal. It was just terrible, and you saw not just the immediate aftermath but how civilization would have devolved 10 years down the road."

Other non-sci-fi easter eggs include shots and motifs lifted from the '30s film noir Scarface. "In the 1932 version, every time somebody gets killed in the movie, you see an
X in the frame," Albert Hughes explained. "It's either lighting on the door or something. When the Valentine's Day Massacre started, there's a beam of seven Xs in the warehouse. He goes, 'OK, up against the wall, all seven of ya.' The camera comes down, and it's the shadow of seven guys that get shot. So we took a tip from that, and every time Eli killed somebody, there's a cross over him, a religious thing in the frame or a religious number in the frame." Cool, right?

Also, look closely when Solara (Mila Kunis) searches Eli's belongings while he sleeps. "She's going through his bag, and she finds this old badge that says,
'Welcome to Kmart. My name is Eli. How can I help you?,'" Whitta revealed. "That was the idea. This was a guy who stacked shelves at the Kmart before."

The Book of Eli opens Jan. 15.

District 9 Prequel To Be The Sequel. Confused Yet?

District 9 Prequel To Be The Sequel. Confused Yet?

This week, he elaborated a bit on his plans for a follow-up—which might be a prequel instead, but definitely not a TV show—to the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex blog:

"A television show I wouldn't really want to do. That would be...well, I just don't want to do that. But a sequel might be interesting. I know what I'm doing next so it wouldn't be right away. But the concept of aliens in Johannesburg is such an appealing idea to me and the issues of race and how they meet. All of the things that I had going on with it. I wouldn't mind messing around with it again. I'm open to it if the story works and there's a reason to do it. And [Sharlto Copley's character] Wikus is so funny to me, I'm very interested in a sort of passive racist like that. If you go forward [with his story beyond "District 9"] it's more of a traditional film but if you go backward I'd be intrigued in that. I'm not so interested in aliens coming back and blowing things up but [a prequel] might be interesting."

Soderbergh's 'Knockout' Rounds Out It's Cast

Steven Soderbergh promised to surround mixed martial artist Gina Carano with strong actors for her feature debut when he first spoke about his revenge spy movie “Knockout,” and he is now delivering the goods.

Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor and Michael Douglas are in negotiations to join the cast of the production, which is being financed by Relativity. Dennis Quaid is also in negotiations in join the cast.

Written by Lem Dobbs, the story sees a female spy (Carano) working for a Blackwater-style security contractor who is betrayed by one of her teammates.

McGregor would play the owner of the company, a one-time confidant of Carano who switches allegiances.

Fassbender will play a British agent who teams up with Carano but proves untrustworthy while Douglas will play an American executive of McGregor’s company who works with her to take down the company.

The movie is scheduled to go before cameras in February in several locations around the world and will be selling at the European Film Market in Berlin. Lionsgate is distributing the movie domestically.

Fassbender, repped by WME, is coming off Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” where he played Lt. Archie Hicox. McGregor, repped by WME and United Agents, next appears in Roman Polanski’s “The Ghost Writer” while WME-repped Douglas, who worked with Soderbergh on the Oscar-winning “Traffic,” wrapped “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps” last month.

Disney To Release Blu-ray's In 3D

Disney To Release Blu-ray's In 3D

Disney, which says it has produced more 3D content than any other major, will begin rolling out 3D Blu-ray titles this year beginning with "Disney's A Christmas Carol" and followed by "Alice in Wonderland" and "Toy Story 3."

Television sets with 3D capabilities are all the rage at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, so it's no surprise that studios have waited until now to officially commit to the technology by announcing specific titles.

Hence, Sony also said Thursday that its first 3D Blu-ray title will be "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," which will come out about the same time Sony Electronics debuts its Bravia 3D-enabled LCD television sets.

And Tuesday, DreamWorks Animation said it would team with Technicolor to offer up a 3D Blu-ray version of "Monsters vs. Aliens" as a promotional item to purchasers of Samsung's 3D-capable TV sets and Blu-ray players.

No specific street dates were announced.

As for Disney, it has been producing 3D content since at least 1953, when the first of its series of shorts called "Adventures in Music" was made, as was the animated short starring Chip and Dale called "Working for Peanuts."

Scenes from the latter, in fact, were made available on 3D Blu-ray on Thursday, though only as part of a promotional item called "3D Showcase Disc," which Disney is giving to manufacturers to bundle with their 3D hardware.

So, technically speaking, Disney's "3D Showcase Disc" is the public's first chance to experience true 3D Blu-ray since the technical specifications were finalized in December. You do, however, have to buy the hardware for viewing the disc just to get your hands on it. And don't forget to purchase the special glasses, which aren't necessarily included with the hardware or the disc.

Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien In A Late Night Mess

Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien In A Late Night Mess

Similar to the time in 1993 when David Letterman walked away from the Peacock after Jay Leno scored "The Tonight Show," Conan O'Brien may be close to doing the exact same thing.

Insiders were confirming late Thursday that Leno had been offered -- and had accepted -- a return to the 11:35 p.m. time slot, where the host dominated the late night wars for nearly 15 years.

If that's the case -- and it was looking likely -- then the attention now turns to Conan O'Brien, who has a difficult decision in front of him.

O'Brien's handlers are likely mulling all of their options before them -- and pitching their client to both Fox, which currently doesn't have a late night franchise on the weeknights, and ABC, which would have to move "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" out of the way.

O'Brien's decision will dictate how Leno's show is presented on NBC. If O'Brien ultimately decides to stay, "The Jay Leno Show" will air at 11:35 p.m. (and focus mostly on its monologue), followed by "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" at 12:05 a.m. and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" at 1:05 a.m.

But if O'Brien bolts the Peacock, then Leno will once again host a one-hour "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" each night. Leno told Broadcasting and Cable last fall that he wouldn't say no if NBC gave him back the slot -- and indeed, it appears he has agreed to the new arrangement, even if it means hosting just a half-hour show each night.

For O'Brien, the red-headed host's options may be limited. "Nightline" is performing well for ABC, and the network appears to have backed off its once-likely plans to dump the late night newsmag.

That would leave NBC, if O'Brien's willing to take his lumps. On the plus side, he would still host the storied "Tonight Show" franchise, and he'd still air a half hour earlier than he did on "Late Night" -- and would likely be the midnight victor vs. "Jimmy Kimmel."

But it would also require moving past an awkward late night redesign. The host could also consider late-night first-run syndication or cable.

Meanwhile, in moving Leno back to late night, NBC will suddenly have five hours worth of primetime air to fill. And given that NBC has already scheduled "Parenthood," handed back "Southland" and reduced "Day One" to a limited run series, its hour-long cupboard is pretty bare this midseason.

Net will likely move some of its dramas, like "Law and Order: SVU," back to 10 p.m. Other holes might be filled by reality shows, repeats and "Dateline NBC."

For next season, NBC already has aggressive plans to produce up to 18 pilots this development season. But that new crop of series won't be ready until fall.

NBC likely wasn't ready to make such drastic changes this soon, especially since the net has long said it would give "The Jay Leno Show" at least a year in its 10 p.m. slot before making any changes.

But that wasn't good enough for affiliates, which have gotten increasingly vocal with their anger over "Leno's" and NBC's primetime performance. The show's 10 p.m. lead-in ratings have crippled the Peacock's owned and affiliated stations' late newscast ratings, and a revolt may have been brewing. Network is set to meet with affils later this month at NATPE.

As a result, under pressure NBC has quickly started hammering out this new late night scenario -- which nonetheless comes with several challenges (including what's believed to be a massive, eight-figure payout for O'Brien) .

The idea of Leno back at 11:35 gained steam among NBC bosses, who were hashing out the fate of the primetime "Jay Leno Show," in recent weeks. Peacock finally decided to pull the trigger just in the past few days.

NBC isn't confirming any of this just yet, but it won't be able to duck the issue for long.

The network itself was only confirming that "The Jay Leno Show" hadn't been canceled, and that it hoped to keep O'Brien in the fold.

We remain committed to keeping Conan O'Brien on NBC," the network said in a statement. "He is a valued part of our late-night line-up, as he has been for more than 16 years and is one of the most respected entertainers on television."

The net's earlier statement about Leno, meanwhile, was just as carefully worded: "Jay Leno is one of the most compelling entertainers in the world today. As we have said all along, Jay's show has performed exactly as we anticipated on the network. It has, however, presented some issues for our affiliates. Both Jay and the show are committed to working closely with them to find ways to improve the performance."

NBC appears more ready to cut O'Brien loose than it was last year, when some industry wags first suggested that NBC halt its "Tonight Show" succession plan and keep the top-rated Leno in place.

At the time, Peacock execs ultimately decided that they'd already gone too far down the road in adhering to the plan, first formulated more than five years ago, and grooming O'Brien as Leno's successor.

If it comes down to Leno vs. O'Brien, now that NBC has seen how both perform at 11:30, the network was apparently ready to put its support behind Leno.

Of course, NBC may also decide that it doesn't want to hand-deliver a lucrative late night franchise to Fox and News Corp. -- and could instead still aim toward another scenario that could somehow keep both Leno and O'Brien in the Peacock stable.

Other options that have been mentioned in the past include striking a deal with affils to move their local newscasts down to 10 p.m.; that would allow for "The Jay Leno Show" at 10:35 and "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" at 11:35.

If Leno were to stay in prime, NBC might have considered decreasing "Jay Leno" to just three nights a week in prime, or struck a deal with Leno to do an abbreviated version of his show at 8 p.m. (Leno, however, has said he has no interest in doing a show that early).

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World First Images Of The Film

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World First Images Of The Film

We’ve been banging on about Scott Pilgrim Vs The World for ages, and now that the first official stills from Edgar Wright’s slacker action – or, if you will, ‘slacktion’ – comedy has surfaced online, we’re going to sit back, fold our arms, smile smugly and say, ‘Told you so.’

For anyone who thinks that Wright’s adaptation of the excellent Bryan Lee O’Malley graphic novels is going to be an exercise in navel-gazing might be surprised to see this stunning action shot of Michael Cera, as the eponymous hero, taking on two evil goons with a flaming sword.

A flaming sword. Not a lightsaber, mind. An actual flaming sword, because Scott Pilgrim Vs The World will feature tons of insane action scenes as Scott faces off against the seven evil exes of his new lover, Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), while simultaneously grappling with big issues: life, love, and the burgeoning career of his band, Sex Bob-Omb.

George Lucas Interview On The Daily Show

George Lucas Interview On The Daily Show

Thanks to Cubicle Mike for the heads up on the interview.

George Lucas appeared on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart to promote his new book “George Lucas’ Blockbusting.” However, as would be expected, the focus on the conversation wasn’t on his new book, but immediately centered on the Star Wars franchise. Every single Star Wars fan should check this video out. I’m a huge, HUGE fan of Stewart as both a comedian and as a journalist. He pretty much always speaks his mind and asks the questions that need to be asked. In this case he just goes for it and asks the questions that fans often wonder about when it comes to Lucas, such as-and I’m paraphrasing a bit-how does it feel to piss off a whole generation of fans and do you still believe you’re as creative as you used to be? The latter one I found especially brilliant and ballsy. Granted, he said it in a nicer way, but the implication of “Hey, what the heck happened in the new movies as opposed to the old ones,” was still there.

But even better than Stewart’s questions were Lucas’ answers. Lucas still insists that people love Jar Jar Binks, one of the most repulsively idiotic characters in the history of cinema. Either Lucas’ pride is pretty out of control and he’ll never admit to the awfulness of the new trilogy or he’s a tad delusional. Either one is likely.

ABC Buys Cedric the Entertainer Comedy Pitch

ABC Buys Cedric the Entertainer Comedy Pitch

With the broadcast networks already in a pilot-pickup mode, two multicamera comedy pitches fronted by familiar faces scored last-minute sales at ABC.

The projects, one starring Carlos Mencia and the other toplined by Cedric the Entertainer, hail from Sony TV and studio-based Tantamount.

The Mencia sitcom, from veteran comedy writers Mitchel Katlin and Nat Bernstein, is a family comedy based on Mencia's life and stand-up act.

Co-produced by Brillstein Entertainment, it centers on a man in the middle of his very large multigenerational immigrant family.

The Cedric comedy, from Al Higgins (" 'Til Death") and Devon Shepard ("Cedric the Entertainer Presents"), will feature the comedian as a retired baseball player-turned-radio host forced to re-evaluate the type of father he has been when his son and 6-year-old granddaughter re-enter his life.

In their initial comedy pilot orders this season, the networks have shown preference for projects that have talent attached: ABC picked up "Awkward Situations for Men," starring British humorist and on-air personality Danny Wallace, and NBC greenlighted a starring vehicle for Adam Carolla.

Thor Sneaks Into Spider-Man 4 Release Date

Thor Sneaks Into Spider-Man 4 Release Date

With production of "Spider-Man 4" delayed, Paramount and Marvel Entertainment have pushed up the release of "Thor" by two weeks to May 6, 2011.

Thor" was set to have opened May 20, 2011. No sooner did Par make its move than did Disney grab the May 20 slot for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." The fourth installment in the "Pirates" franchise did not previously have a release date.

Strategic shuffling came one day after Sony confirmed that lensing of "Spider-Man 4" has been delayed because of script issues and that it may not make the May 6 deadline.

Sony said it wasn't abandoning the date, a highly-coveted frame since it is the first weekend of summer. Studio said it is still hoping to complete the film in time.

However, Paramount decided to act aggressively and not wait for the outcome, in case another studio acted first and put one of their films there.

Paramount didn't comment on its decision, but it didn't come as a surprise to rival studios, since "Thor" is the first movie skedded for release after "Spider-Man 4."

Two of the three "Spider-Man" pictures have opened the first weekend of summer; the third, over the Memorial Day holiday.

Should "Spider-Man 4" stick to the May 6 release, it's likely that "Thor" would move.

James Franco To Star In 127 Hours Danny Boyle's Next Film

James Franco To Star In 127 Hours Danny Boyle's Next Film

We've known for two months that Danny Boyle's next film will be 127 Hours, based on the true story of a mountain climber who got stuck under a boulder and had to do terrible things to survive. And now we know which lucky (?) actor will play the guy: James Franco.

That's the word from industry publication Production Weekly, which tweeted earlier today that Franco has the part, and that filming will begin in early March in Utah. The mountaineer, Aron Ralston, was climbing in southeastern Utah in 2003 when a boulder came loose and crushed his arm against the wall of the canyon, pinning him there for several days. Probably something like 125 or 130 hours total, I'm guessing. (You can read all the gruesome, bone-sawing details on Ralston's Wikipedia page.) Anyway, while there are no specifics yet, one assumes Boyle will be shooting in the same general area where the incident happened, which isn't too far from where John Ford used to shoot a lot of his Westerns.

The big question is how a film that is basically a one-man show -- in which that one man is trapped under a rock most of the time -- will be interesting to watch. Franco is a good actor, but does he have the intensity and charisma required to hold our attention when he's the only person on the screen? A lot will probably depend on what the screenplay (which Boyle is writing with his Slumdog Millionaire collaborator, Simon Beaufoy) gives Franco to do while he's lying there. If it involves a lot of grinning and squinting, perfect!

"Deadpool," Film Gets "Zombieland" Writers On Board

"Deadpool," Film Gets "Zombieland" Writers On Board

20th Century Fox is making progress with its "X-Men" spinoff, "Deadpool," and has tapped "Zombieland" scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to pen the screenplay.

Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as the wisecracking mercenary he portrayed in last year's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

There is no timetable on the Marvel property, though Reynolds has a window after wrapping the "Green Lantern" this summer.

Reynolds has been bulking up to play the DC Comics' hero "Green Lantern," which starts lensing next month. This means he would already be in superhero shape if the script for "Deadpool" is ready by summer.

Reese and Wernick, who wrote "Zombieland," will stay true to the mythology of "Deadpool" given that Reynolds is a huge fan and protector of the property.

The tone of "Deadpool," which features an antihero as opposed to the more traditional heroic comicbook protagonist, is very similar in tone to "Zombieland."

Lauren Shuler Donner is producing "Deadpool."

Legion: Prophets Comic Book. Read Before You See The Film

The comic prequel to next month's angel apocalypse Legion is already completed, but according to one of the series' writers, fans of the movie should pick it up to see a hint of what happens after, as well as before.

Tom Waltz told Comic Book Resources that, although it seems that Legion: Prophets may feature background characters and events to the Paul Bettany-starring movie out January 22nd, there's more going on that may seem at first apparent:

Our comic provides an exclusive expansion on some of the ideas and themes presented in the film and, perhaps, a hint at things to come should there be a movie sequel... Each of these people have been chosen as prophets to protect the only hope for humanity in the apocalypse - a special child, who is yet to be born (for more on that, you have to see the movie!). As the apocalypse strikes and angelic possession begins to plague the planet (again, see the movie!), all five of these seemingly ordinary folks quickly find out they have special gifts and powers that set them apart from other humans... as well as a unifying mission they've all been given hints to through strange (and sometimes horrific) visions. These are standalone issues, though the fourth issue does feature all five prophets. And did I mention these are not all of the prophets in 'Legion' lore? Hint, hint.

Does that mean more Legion comics, or just that Legion: Prophets leads directly into the movie? You can find out for yourself; the collection of Legion: Prophets is in stories now.

3D Television Coming To Your Homes Sooner Then Later

3D Television Coming To Your Homes Sooner Then Later

ESPN and Discovery Communications announced plans Tuesday to launch the industry's first 3D television networks.

The sports programmer will introduce a 3D network this summer, while Discovery is joining forces with Sony and Imax for a 3D network to launch in 2011.

The announcements represent a potentially game-changing addition to the TV landscape, which only recently fully embraced another technological shift to high-definition programming.

The Walt Disney-owned unit said Tuesday that its new channel -- ESPN 3D -- will feature at least 85 live sporting events during its first year, beginning June 11 with the first 2010 FIFA World Cup match South Africa vs. Mexico.

"ESPN's commitment to 3D is a win for fans and our business partners," said ESPN and ABC Sports president George Bodenheimer. "ESPN 3D marries great content with new technology to enhance the fan's viewing experience and puts ESPN at the forefront of the next big advance for TV viewing."

On the Discovery front, the joint venture of the three firms doesn’t have an official name for the network yet, although it has created a logo that says “3D TV."

3dtv The dueling announcements have both companies claiming to have the first 3D network. ESPN has an earlier launch date, but the network will go dark when not airing 3D programming. Discovery says its channel will be the first dedicated 3D network on the air 24/7.

“Discovery’s business strategy has always focused on delivering groundbreaking content through new platforms, including the first suite of digital channels launched in 1996 and the first 24/7 basic cable HD channel in 2002,” said Discovery Founder and Chairman John Hendricks. “Now, as Discovery celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2010 as the world leader in satisfying curiosity and bringing audiences the most realistic viewing experience, we continue to change the face of television with the launch of the first-ever 24/7 dedicated 3D television network.”

ESPN has been testing ESPN 3D for more than two years. For example, it showed a USC-Ohio State college football game in select theaters and on USC's campus. Other 3D events will include up to 25 World Cup matches, the 2011 BCS National Championship Game, college basketball and football, and the Summer X Games.

To watch the content, viewers must have a 3D-ready TV set, and might need a new set-top box. And yes, viewers also must wear 3D glasses.

Plus, the added cost of producing content in 3D will likely get passed onto the consumer, resulting in another cable pay tier similar to current high-definition packages.

That ESPN would be one of the first networks to announce a 3D channel is no surprise. Sports was a key driver in viewers embracing HD, while ESPN constantly explores new technological advances to enhance its content. ESPN is also the most widely distributed cable network.

"This is a turning point for 3D," Consumer Electronics Association CEO Gary Shapiro told USA Today.

Bryan Burns, vp, strategic business planning and development at ESPN, told THR that 3D “feels like very familiar territory to us” given the firm’s HD experience. “We hope (ESPN 3D) will be a stimulus for the biz to move forward” with 3D, he added.

His team unveiled its first HD effort in Sept. 2002 and launched it in March 2003, with Shapiro also predicting this would the tipping point for HD. While Burns said he was skeptical about that prediction at the time, it turned out to be correct.

Burns also expressed hope that this week’s CES will shine a spotlight on 3D TV technology.
In a conference call, executives from the 3D venture partners cited Consumer Electronics Assn. estimates that about 2.2 million 3D TV sets will be sold this year, with more than 25% of sets sold being 3D-enabled by 2013.

With the technology finally being consumer-ready, Hendricks estimated that early adopters in the U.S. make up about 5 million households, which could adopt 3D TV within three years. After that, he said about 20 million additional homes could sign up for 3D "pretty quickly" before the technology goes mass market in about 5-10 years.

Espn 3dAll companies involved in Tuesday’s 3D network announcements also expressed confidence in consumers’ willingness to put on 3D glasses for quality content.

Neither network wanted to speculate on the timing of first carriage deals, but executives working on both predicted strong interest.

Spider-Man 4 Delayed Until 2011

Spider-Man 4 Delayed Until 2011

At that point, it wasn't well known that the Spider-Man franchise director who also is helming the 4th installment had huge problems with the script that has run through screenwriters Jamie Vanderbilt, David Lindsay-Abaire, and Gary Ross. I'm even told Sam Raimi had been very vocal inside Sony that he "hated" it. Now Raimi and Sony are anxiously waiting for still another version from screenwriter Alvin Sargent, who wrote Spidey 2 & 3 and is married to Spidey franchise producer Laura Ziskind. "It is unlikely that May 11, 2011, date will be made," a Sony insider just told me today. "It depends on how quickly the script can get in." However, agents have told clients in the movie to already expect the film to be pushed back.

My sources say Sony still intends to release that summer, even if the new date is July 2011. But Spider-Man has always owned that coveted early May date. Even as far back as September 2008 when I reported my exclusive that Sony Locks In Sam Raimi & Tobey Maguire in 'Spider-Man 4'. And now this is a giant opportunity for other studios planning their 2011 schedules to grab this big opening.

Spider-Man 4 was supposed to start filming in February, and star Tobey Maguire echoed that repeatedly in publicity appearances for Brothers. Then it pushed to March. Then late March/early April. And now there's no date at all, according to my Sony insiders who emailed me: "Some decisions have been made over the holiday about Spider-Man 4. We will be extending the production hiatus on the film. The studio is firmly committed to this franchise but, for us, the script must come first. We intend to notify members of the crew immediately. As you know, Alvin Sargent is currently working on the screenplay. When we have more news, we will keep you posted."

I do know that Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal and Columbia Pictures president Matt Tolmach, who have shepherded the Spider-Man franchise from Day One, has been wrestling with this script problem for months. "I'm going to do everything I can to make May," she has repeatedly told Hollywood types involved with the movie. "But I'm not going to start a movie where the script isn't right yet. Not unless I want my career to be over."

Fortunately for Pascal, Sony is not yet "pay or play" on some of the talent negotiations which were still only at the tail end. Raimi is insisting that John Malkovich play the villain, so that won't change. But I do hear that it's now unlikely Anne Hathaway will be cast. "I'm not so sure we're going in that direction," an insider told me recently. Sony had been hot for her until bigwigs realized she'd cost too much and they probably don't need "such a big star" for the pic, I'm told. (See my previous, Anne Hathaway Wanted For 'Spider-Man 4')

As for those repeated rumors that Spider-Man 4 will and won't shoot in 3D, I've got to figure that's uppermost on Sony minds given the post-Avatar climate. Back in April, Sony Pictures' co-chairmen Amy Pascal and Michael Lynton told Forbes magazine they were considering making the 4th Spider-Man in 3D. Here were the quotes: "Could be," said Pascal. Lynton added: "People are paying a premium to see movies in 3-D and that's a very big deal.

New James Bond Film Found It's Director.

New James Bond Film Found It's Director.

It's Mendes. Sam Mendes. The British helmer is in negotiations to direct the 23rd installment of the venerable James Bond franchise.

Production is being fast-tracked and could begin as early as June with an eye toward a 2011 release. Plans for the film are moving forward despite a possible sale of MGM. Sony co-produced and distributed the most recent installment of the 007 series with MGM.

Bond regulars Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are writing, along with "Frost/Nixon" scribe Peter Morgan. Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are producing. Daniel Craig will reprise his role as 007.

The film will be Mendes' first action-heavy project, although his 2005 effort "Jarhead" was set amid U.S. war in Kuwait. Mendes' last directorial effort, the road-trip dramedy "Away We Go," grossed $10 million domestically last summer.

Marc Forster directed the previous Bond film, 2008's "Quantum of Solace," which grossed $586 million worldwide.

Sean Penn On Board For Three Stooges Movie

Sean Penn On Board For Three Stooges Movie

Hollywood heavy Sean Penn, who dropped out of the Farrelly Brothers’ “Three Stooges” movie during the bust-up of his marriage, is back on board to play middle Stooge Larry, Bobby Farrelly told the Track .

Penn took a Tinseltown time-out back in June when he announced he was forgoing future film projects to focus on his family as his marriage to Robin Wright Penn went down the tubes. Penn’s move sank the Farrelly Brothers’ hopes to get the long-awaited Stooges flick off the ground in 2009.

“We got him back,” Bobby Farrelly told the Track. “He always said he wanted to do it after, you know, taking care of his family.”

Allegedly, the Rhode Island-bred bros wanted to replace Penn with Paul Giamatti, but that didn’t pan out.

Now that they have their Larry back and Benicio Del Toro is still interested in playing Moe, Curly still needs to be cast. There was word, way back when, that Jim Carrey was interested. But Bobby claims otherwise.

Denzel Washington and Will Smith Heading Uptown Saturday Night

Denzel Washington and Will Smith Heading Uptown Saturday Night

Which brings me to the project in question, a remake of the 1974 film, "Uptown Saturday Night", which originally starred Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier (it was also directed by Poitier). The fact that it might be remade might not come as too big a surprise — back in 2002, Will Smith’s production company, Overbrook Entertainment, purchased the remake rights to Uptown Saturday Night with the hope of putting together an all-star African-American version of Ocean’s 11. At the time, Smith had said he’s spoken to Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence about the possibility of starring.

For the unfamiliar, Uptown Saturday Night was a movie about two estranged friends, Steve Jackson (Smith) and Wardell Johnson (Washington), who meet up at a nightclub and get robbed of their wallets. The next morning they discover that one of their wallets contained a winning lottery ticket, and together they must recover their stolen property.

Brothers Movie Review By: Windy

Brothers Movie Review
By: Windy

Windy is just blowing into theaters all over town, and thank god she is writing for us. I am grateful she is taking the time out to do reviews for the site.

Make sure you check out her site here and let her know what a great job she is doing.

"Brothers," directed by Jim Sheridan ("Get Rich or Die Tryin'") and starring Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal,, is the story of a family who believes their Marine son (Maguire) is killed in combat and must learn to move on with their lives.

Gyllenhaal enters the picture as the ex-con brother who slowly turns into "the good guy" as he realizes > > his brother's family needs a father figure.

All the while, Maguire's character is a POW in Afghanistan. In a sense, Maguire plays two characters in this film, the family-oriented Marine before being held in Afghanistan, and the damaged, paranoid Marine post-war. With Maguire's initial character, there is little chemistry between him, Portman (his on-screen wife) and the children. Maguire looks too young and frail to be such a tough Marine and there is no palpable love between him and Portman's character.

When Maguire returns from war is when he really shines. As a hardened Marine suffering from what is likely Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (or some form thereof), he plays a disturbed, violent, guilt-ridden, mistrusting brother and husband to a tee. Even his eyes show signs of hatred and distrust. This "second" character is likely what led to the Golden Globe nomination. Portman shines througout the movie and you can feel her sorrow at the loss of her husband. Portman is the one who makes the husband-wife relationship believable.

She sheds quite a few tears during the film, but it's not overload. It's the perfect form of despair, staying strong enough to take care of her two daughters. Gyllenhaal, playing Maguire's brother, is an excellent bad-boy-turned-good. He has extremely strong chemistry with both Portman and the children. So much so that you might believe he would make a
better husband and father.

His smiles seem genuine and his caring for the family comes across as truthful through the screen. Even his bad-boy image is well played in the beginning, with outbursts of rage at just the appropriate time. Another actor not to be left out is Bailee Madison, the eldest daughter. At just over 10 years old, Madison evokes emotions that would remind anyone of their own childhood. Her anger and sadness are spot on.Let's hope for a bright future for Bailee (as she already has three projects in 2010).

The film itself is ill-paced, with some scenes dragging on too long, and some scenes passing too quickly. In one instant, several months have passed with Maguire as a POW, but aside from stating the date, we're given no other indication that any time has passed by. Unfortunately this mis-timing makes for a choppy picture that doesn't flow from beginning to end, nor allow for the Maguire-Portman relationship to feel developed.

Though all three main characters give good performances, the storyline needed to be more fleshed out in order to really feel Maguire's love before he leaves for war and pain upon his return.

6 1/2 sandwiches out of 10.

Vince Vaughn To Star In A Dark Comedy Directed By Ron Howard

Vince Vaughn To Star In A Dark Comedy Directed By Ron Howard

The studio is putting the pieces together for a film project exploring the subject of infidelity that will be directed by Ron Howard and star Vince Vaughn.

Imagine topper Brian Grazer came up with the idea and is producing with Vaughn, who will produce with his Wild West Picture Show Prods. Allan Loeb wrote the currently untitled script, which would go before cameras in the spring.

The story follows a man who learns that his best friend's wife is cheating and must then navigate treacherous waters to decide what do with that knowledge.

The project is said to continue Vaughn's interest of tackling the dark areas of relationships, which he did with "The Break-Up" and, to a lesser extent, "Couples Retreat," which ended up leaving its darker moments on the editing room floor. The script is said to walk a fine line of being comedy and drama, much like "Break-Up" did.
