First Look At Tyler Hoechlin As SUPERMAN In SUPERGIRL

The CW and DC Entertainment have unleashed this first image of actor Tyler Hoechlin as man of steel, Kara’s cousin, Superman in the upcoming season 2 of SUPERGIRL . SUPERGIRL season 2 premieres Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. Actress Floriana Lima (“The Family”) has been cast in The CW’s Supergirl season 2 in the series regular role of Maggie Sawyer who in the DC comics is gay and when she was first introduced in 1987, she was a captain of the Metropolis Special Crimes unit and a highly skilled member of the Science Police which deals with metahumans. BUT on this show, Floriana Lima’s Maggie Sawyer is a detective for the National City Police department and she’s interested in cases involving aliens Former Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter , will play the recurring role of the President of The United States on The CW’s “Supergirl” series starring Melissa Benoist as title character. Carter’s character will first show up in the third episode of season 2. By the way, years

Superman Will Appear In Supergirl Season 2

In its first season, Supergirl featured only fleeting glimpses of her cousin, the Man Of Steel . While the producers stated that this was to make sure that the focus stayed squarely on Melissa Benoist's Kara, beyond that Warner Bros./DC didn't want Superman to be appearing on the big screen and the small at the same time. Obviously something has changed. Casting is underway for an actor to play Superman in the first two episodes of the show's second season, with the assumption being that he will show up again occasionally (perhaps on the four-way crossover of Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and DC's Legends Of Tomorrow?). Enthuses executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, "Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. We cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!” Those who have done so previously include Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Gerard Christopher,

Supergirl Flies Over To The CW

There has been some question on whether or not Supergirl , the Melissa Benoist series, would be renewed for a second season. CBS, made no secrets of its disappointment with ratings compared to the high per episode production cost. But a reprieve has come in the form of the CW, American homebase for Arrow, The Flash and DC's Legends Of Tomorrow , which has picked the show up. As to the physical make-up of the series, it will be interesting to see what impact the shifting of networks has considering that the CW does not fund to the same extent that CBS does. Unknown is whether or not the entire cast will make the network jump along with Benoist due to potential fiscal issues. Already there's been talk of production making a cost-cutting move to Vancouver, where the other DC series are shot by their producer, Greg Berlanti. This past season Grant Gustin's The Flash crossed over to Supergirl pretty seamlessly, so from a creative point of view this would seem to open up m

First Image From Supergirl/The Flash Crossover

The first official image from the Supergirl/The Flash crossover episode of Supergirl, " World's Finest ," has been released and it's a clever take-off of a classic comic book cover. In that original version, the Man Of Steel is racing againt the fastest man alive. In this case, though, it's Melissa Benoist 's Girl Of Steel up against Grant Gustin 's The Flash. Warner Bros. describes the plot as follows: "Kara gains a new ally when the lightning-fast superhero The Flash (Grant Gustin) suddenly appears from an alternate universe and helps Kara battle Siobhan, aka Silver Banshee, and Livewire in exchange for her help in finding a way to return him home." The story for the episode is written by executive producer Greg Berlanti, with a teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg and Michael Grassi. It's directed by Nick Gomez. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Empire

TV Review: Supergirl "Pilot"

Superman's cousin makes capes fun again. Review by Brandon Wolfe We open on an extremely familiar scene. The planet Krypton is in the final throes of self-destruction and a tearful couple is placing their baby into a small spacecraft with promises of the child’s survival and prosperity on the distant world of Earth. The scene that comes directly after, however, is less familiar. A young girl is also being dispatched into the stars by her parents, with the explicit instructions to guard that baby in the new world. This is Kara Zor-El, the older cousin to this infant, whom our world will come to know as Superman. But Kara’s mission gets a two-decade layover right out of the gate when her pod gets trapped in the Phantom Zone. By the time Kara does make it to Earth, her cousin has already grown into his destiny and he’s the one who shepherds Kara into her new life, setting her up with an adoptive family of trusted scientists. Kara ultimately finds herself immersed in a thankless job

#SUPERGIRL Featurette "Meet Supergirl, A New Kind Of Hero"

SUPERGIRL premieres Monday, October 26 at 8:30 PM and then it goes to its regular time slot, Monday, November 2 at 8 PM In the vast DC Comics Universe of super heroes, the rich mythology of Superman, the planet Krypton and the House of El is perhaps the most famous and instantly recognizable. Enter Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). Born Kara Zor-El on the doomed planet Krypton, the preteen Kara escaped at the same time as the infant Kal-El, but didn’t arrive on Earth until many years later after being lost in the Phantom Zone. Protected and raised by her adopted family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learned to hide the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin. Years later, at age 24, living in National City and working as an assistant for Catco Worldwide Media mogul Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), Kara has spent so many years trying to fit in that she forgot to ever stand out. All that changes when she decides to embrace her superhum

First Thoughts: 'Supergirl'

We weigh in on CBS' extended trailer. Story by Matt Cummings Ever since we first reported that CBS was developing a Supergirl series for their Fall lineup , our opinion (and that of most of the Internet) has been the same word - uneasiness. The idea wasn't bad and CBS' logic (at the time) seemed sound: bring the next baddest good guy they could find to the screen that wasn't named Superman. But in looking at the extended trailer below - which we announced yesterday - our concerns have moved far beyond uneasiness. See it for yourself, and see if your thoughts align with our own: From the beginning, it's clear that Producer Greg Berlanti ( Arrow , Flash ) is trying to capture the magic of Flash's memorable first season into a bottle he can replicate with any DC hero he desires. But the result looks cheap, melodramatic, and seems to return to many themes already echoed in other DC movies and television episodes. This isn't even the secon

Chyler Leigh will play Alexandra Danvers, Kara’s foster sister who’s fascinated wit

#SUPERGIRL First Look

The new Supergirl costume feels very different—and in this case, that’s a good thing. See the entire suit after the Jump... Warner Bros. released the first shot of Melissa Benoist in costume for the new CBS series from Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg. Gone are the days of the bright blue and red color scheme, as this Kara Zor-El appears to be taking a walk on the dark side—figuratively, of course. Also different from the costume Helen Slater donned in the ’80s is that Kara is showing off less skin now that her boots go above her knees and she appears to be wearing stockings underneath. And she certainly isn’t sporting the bare midriff Kara has often appeared with in the comics. The costume, designed by three-time Oscar winner Colleen Atwood, also feels very reminiscent of the texturized one Henry Cavill dons in Man of Steel, even down to the positioning of the cape. “In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past, but more importantly, thrust her into
