BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Bros Red Band Trailer & Poster

Universal Pictures proudly presents the first romantic comedy from a major studio about two gay men maybe, possibly, probably, stumbling towards love. Maybe. They're both very busy.     From the ferocious comic mind of Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street, 2019's The Lion King, Difficult People, Impeachment: American Crime Story) and the hitmaking brilliance of filmmakers Nicholas Stoller (the Neighbors films, Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Judd Apatow (The King of Staten Island, Trainwreck, The Big Sick), comes Bros, a smart, swoony and heartfelt comedy about finding sex, love and romance amidst the madness.   Starring Billy Eichner, the first openly gay man to co-write and star in his own major studio film, Bros is directed by Nicholas Stoller from his screenplay with Eichner. The film is produced by Judd Apatow, Stoller and Joshua Church (co-producer Trainwreck, Step Brothers). The film is executive produced by Eichner. Discuss this with fellow SJF fans on Facebook . O

Blu-ray Review: #Neighbors2SororityRising

The disappointing Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising arrives on video long enough for us to hate it even more. Review by Matt Cummings If 2014's Neighbors made a strong case for comedy of that year, it only lost out to 22 Jump Street due to that production's nearly perfect execution. The same cannot be said for Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising , a strange coming-of-age Frankenstein of comedy film that tries (and fails) to advance a feminist plot while wrapping that message in skits which don't quite pay off. Its arrival on Blu-ray does little to change our minds. Set a few years after the original, thirty-somethings Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) have raised their now toddler daughter - who keeps finding Kelly's vibrator - and are expecting a second. They've made the decision to buy a new home in the suburbs and thus need to sell their existing home. But their 30-day escrow is challenged when a group of teenage girls led by Shelby (Chloë Grace Moretz)

Movie Review: #Storks

Storks exceeds in cuteness but poops its diapers with a poor plot. Review by Matt Cummings We've witnessed a 2016 animated slate that's included the very good ( Kubo and the Two Strings ), the meh ( Zoopotpia ), and the truly awful ( Norm of the North ). For early Fall's Storks , we get something in the middle, filled with heartening moments, but disturbing in its overall premise. In a world where storks like Junior (voiced by Andy Samberg) used to bring babies to homes, times have changed. After a delivery goes wrong - leaving the human Tulip (Katie Crown) without a home - the storks decide to enter the package delivery business. Over eighteen years, the company led by Hunter (Kelsey Grammer) has become a success, irregardless of Tulip's clumsy efforts to disrupt that. But for the human boy Nate (Anton Starkman), his desire for a brother leads him to write a letter to those very same storks, unaware of the company's new 'vision.' When Tulip

Neighbors 2 is Good to Go

The sequel gets a greenlight at Universal. For those of you who thought 2014 was a terrific year for comedies, get in line. From 22 Jump Street , to Ride Along and the underappreciated Sex Tape , last year was one of the most memorable. Of the most successful and well received was Universal's Neighbors , which starred Seth Rogan and Rose Byrne as post-party people having to deal with a fraternity lead by Zac Efron and Dave Franco. The comedy made over $150m domestically and nearly $270m worldwide. And while it was sure to get a sequel, no one knew quite when. Until today. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal has made it official with a May 13. 2016 release date and a promise that both Efforn and Byrne will return with Nicholas Stoller directing once again. The studio was apparently holding that date for another comedy but replaced it with Neighbors 2 . The move makes great financial sense, as the original only cost $18m to make, representing a huge win for

Neighbors Sequel On The Way?

Neighbors producers Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen mentioned at the Produced By conference that they’re still taking a lot of meetings about a sequel to their hit summer comedy, which is on the verge of hitting $220 million worldwide, but it’s still undetermined whether they will move forward. In the meantime, they are trying to get the project Jazz Cops off the ground, a starring vehicle for Rogen and Kevin Hart , about two cops during the 1950s trying to infiltrate the jazz scene. A bulk of their conversation, along with fellow producing partner James Weaver who first started with Rogen as an assistant on Funny People, was devoted to the lessons they’ve learned while writing, directing and producing their comedies. After working on The Green Hornet, the trio learned — big budget isn’t everything. Too much red tape, too many parties to contend with. After enjoying the buffer from the studios on their Judd Apatow productions, i.e. Knocked Up, Superbad and Pineapple Express, Weaver

Neighbors Review: Side-Splitting and Outrageously Funny

Neighbors could be instant comedy genius, but we'll let your obscene laughter be the judge. Story by: Matt Cummings There are a few comedies that resonate so well with audiences that they become highly-quotable pop culture treasures, carrying on far longer than the movie which inspired them. The original Anchorman , Ted , and The Watch are a few recent ones that come to mind. We think the next to enter such rarefied air will be Neighbors , a fiercely unapologetic, exceptionally dirty production that almost enjoys rolling in its own crass and filth like a happy pig.  We're almost embarrassed it didn't initially make our May Movie List . Mac (Seth Rogan) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) are newly with child, an adorable little girl with enough personality and looks to fill their newly-purchased first home. The area is quiet and filled with good neighbors, and prospects to fill the vacant house next door are high. That all changes when the Delta Psy Kappa fraternity
