Marc Webb To Return For Spider-Man Sequel

The star and helmer will be back for a 2014 release.

Ending months of speculation about whether he would return to the Spider-Man franchise he helped reboot, director Marc Webb has signed on to helm the webslinger's next outing for Columbia Pictures.

The sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man will begin shooting in early 2013, with Andrew Garfield also returning as the superhero. Emma Stone is in talks to continue her role as Peter Parker's love interest Gwen Stacy. There has been little doubt that Garfield and Stone would be back for a second outing, but Webb's deal has been the major question mark. Webb was paid roughly $1 million for the first chapter in the Spider-Man reboot, according to sources, and was looking for a pay raise in the wake of the film's $750 million-plus worldwide box-office haul and fanboy response.

The screenplay is by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt. The film will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.

The sequel is set for release May 2, 2014.

“We could not be more confident in the direction we are taking this new Spider-Man storyline, and we are tremendously excited to be ramping up production again with Marc at the helm and Andrew continuing on as Peter Parker," Columbia president Doug Belgrad said. "We can’t wait to share what we have in store for Peter and Spider-Man with audiences worldwide.”

Is Daniel Radcliffe Ready For Frankenstein?

Is Daniel Radcliffe pasty enough and ghostly enough to star in “Frankenstein”?

Apparently so. The “Harry Potter” star is interested in playing the lead role of Hunchback in Paul McGuigan’s revisionist take on the classic tale, a person familiar with the project told TheWrap.

The film is in the works at Twentieth Century Fox, where the focus for now is getting a finalized script, at which point serious talks will begin with actors, the person said.

Earlier this month, McGuigan signed on to direct the film for Fox and producers Davis Entertainment.

Based on a script by Max Landis (“Chronicle”), this adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel of the same name, puts a sci-fi take on this classic story about a creature produced through a scientific experiment.

Hunchback is described as pathologically dirty and dressed in old clowns clothing.

Several dozen other Frankenstein-based projects are in the works in Hollywood.

Shawn Levy was previously attached to the project but reportedly parted ways with Fox over budget issues.

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA Review. One Of The Best!

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA Review
By: MattInRC

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA is sidesplittingly funny, inventive, just a little gross, and is the best animated feature of 2012 so far.11 2012 has been a rough year for Adam Sandler. Party to one of the worst films of all time in the disgusting/disturbing/ridiculous That's My Boy, it proved that the SNL alumni must leave producing films to more competent people. Another actor with similar troubles is Kevin James, whose fat-man loser comedy persona failed to resonate with fans in the totally forgettable Zookeeper (in which Sandler has a cameo). And in the best example of misery enjoying company, the two joined forces to destroy Grown Ups and The Dilemma. So it goes without saying that the release of HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA  was viewed with a healthy amount of skepticism by critics hoping for greatness but prepared for disaster. Gladly, I can say they've finally done something well: HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA is a hilarious film that helps to redeem our fallen stars to a level that might allow us to forget their previous disasters.

Count Dracula (Adam Sandler, Happy Gilmore) has raised his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez, Monte Carlo) since she was very young; overprotective to the extreme, he sets out to build a magnificent castle to shield her and his other monster allies from the human world. It was the humans' misunderstanding of Dracula which caused his wife's untimely death, and he isn't about to lose his head-strong daughter, even if her dreams are to see the world. Contrary to popular opinion, Dracula isn't the blood-sucking mass murderer that every human fears: he sings, laughs, and actually doesn't suck blood, choosing a 'blood substitute' instead. As Mavis has grown, so has the family business: once per year, Dracula entertains a host of familiar ghoulish faces, including Frankenstein (Kevin James, Barnyard), Wayne the werewolf (Steve Buscemi, Reservoir Dogs) and his pregnant wife Wanda (Molly Shannon), Murray the mummy (singer Cee-Lo Green), and Griffin the invisible man (David Spade, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry). As Dracula's friends gather for Mavis' 118th birthday, a 21-year-old human backpacking trekker (Andy Samberg, Saturday Night Live) accidentally finds the hidden passage to the castle, which to this time has been fully protected by an evil forest and a cemetery filled with zombies. Johnathan is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but his laid-back party attitude instantly grabs the attention of Frankenstein and crew, as well as Mavis. Worried that his hotel guests will uncover the truth, Dracula disguises Johnathan as Frank's long-lost cousin, hoping to quietly escort him off the property. Caught between protecting his daughter and his growing affection for the human, the Prince of Darkness must decide whether to come out of the shadows and embrace humanity or remain locked behind his castle doors forever.

Director Genndy Tartakovsky (Samurai Jack) and Writers Peter Baynham (Borat) and Robert Smigel (Saturday Night Live) create a believable and thoroughly entertaining affair by wrapping inventive adult scenes around kid friendly situations. Even the various fart and naked invisible man jokes are hilarious because they help to serve the script without becoming cheap props. But there's more going on than wild jocularity: the key here is that Samberg, James, and Sandler aren't working from one of their own flawed scripts but are instead working for someone else. This gives them the freedom to pursue their character's underpinnings without losing themselves in cheap sexually-referenced jokes. Sandler is actually very good as Dracula: his deep voice is a welcome relief from all the 'Sloppy Joe Loser'-sounding characters he's played over the years. There is evidence of both tenderness when Mavis runs away and anger when defending her in front of his friends. While James and Samberg are suitable, one must credit Gomez for her portrayal of Mavis. There are several very good secondary performances by Buschemi, Spade, and John Lovitz (A League of Their Own), all of whom make the most of their time in front of the audience.

With The Pirates! Band of Misfits in its lineup, Columbia Pictures has now proven it can develop great animated features that can appeal to a wider audience. And while the 3-D version is certainly not worth the extra cash, this effort does contain many of the elements which must power the future of 3-D: deep, layered backgrounds with incredible attention to both humans and ghouls alike.

Driven by a strong coming-of-age story and a solid collection of supporting voices, Hotel Transylvania reminds us that Sandler, James, and Samberg can make a funny family film while maintaining their comic roots. Adam Sandler proves he can be funny without being gross, allowing us to forget his recent and numerous mistakes, and giving us some hope that he will eventually mature into a real comedian who doesn't need crass to sell tickets. Once again, the 3-D conversion fails to impress but proves the industry is maturing towards doing the right kind of 3-D. Columbia Pictures proves it can roll with Disney, Pixar, and Dreamworks, in many ways outperforming the competition. I do hope it receives an Oscar nod in its category, so make sure you see it on the big screen. But be prepared to laugh along with your kids - it really is that good. Hotel Transylvania is rated a surprising PG for...well, I'm not really sure, unless references to farting are now the new standard for a PG rating.

Who Is The Winter Solider?

IGN put to get this pretty cool history lesson for all you non-comic book fans, about the history of The Winter Solider. What story line would you like to see the film follow?

Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be released April 4, 2014.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the subtitle suggests a respected comic book storyline from the 2000s that resurrected Captain America's sidekick Bucky as a brainwashed super-assassin known as the Winter Solider.

Quentin Tarantino Cameo In Django Unchained

Rex Linn is best known for appearing in CSI: Miami (as Detective Frank Tripp), The Walking Dead (as Palmer) and Cliffhanger (as Agent "Goddamn" Travers) but his biggest recent movie role so far is in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming spaghetti Western, Django Unchained – but it turns out the director has taken some of his lines for his own unplanned cameo.

“Quentin told me that he liked the scene so much he wanted to be in it, too, and that he would also be taking some of my lines,” Linn explained to Oklahoma news site NewsOK.com

“So, you'll know the scenes when you see them. We'll be on the screen with Don Johnson and Jonah Hill. The scenes may not be long, but you will remember them.”

Precise plot details around Django are few and far between, and even at this point, Linn's role as Tennessee Harry is unclear. The general plot goes like this, however...

Jamie Foxx stars as Django, a slave who is rescued from a chain gang by German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Turns out that Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and Django can lead him to them. So a deal is offered: if Django helps the hunter find and kill the brothers, Schultz will free him completely and help him track down his wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington).

But while our hero takes to the life of a vengeful hunter quickly, he’ll still have to face down the ruthless-yet-charming Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), on his infamous plantation, Candie Land.

Mark Millar To Oversee Marvel Franchise For Fox

20th Century Fox has inked a deal with comics-world guru Mark Millar to serve as a creative consultant on the studio’s projects based on Marvel Comics properties.

Millar wrote several lauded Marvel comic books such as The Ultimates, Civil War and Wolverine: Old Man Logan before moving on to found Millarworld (millarworld.tv), where he continues to develop existing film franchise titles Wanted and Kick-Ass as well as newer comic properties Nemesis -- which was being developed at Fox as a Tony Scott directing vehicle -- The Secret Service and Superior.

“In addition to his groundbreaking Marvel work, Mark is simply one of the most original voices in comics today and will be an invaluable resource to us and to our filmmakers as we look for fresh opportunities to innovate within our shared Marvel universe," Fox production president Emma Watts said.

Millar will work with Fox on developing new avenues for its tentpole X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises.

The studio's upcoming Marvel properties include The Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman and directed by James Mangold; X-Men: Days of Future Past, helmed by Matthew Vaughn; and a reboot of Fantastic Four, to be directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle).

"I really like the Fox team, love this bold new direction they have for their franchises and am proud to be working alongside some of modern cinema's biggest talents," Millar said. "James Mangold is incredible, Matthew Vaughn's one of my closest pals, and Josh Trank gave us, in my opinion, one of the greatest superhero movies of the last decade with Chronicle. The invitation to join this crew was maybe the coolest phone call I've ever had.”

Millar is the writer of Civil War, Marvel's biggest-selling series of the past 15 years, as well as Ultimate X-Men, Wolverine: Old Man Logan, Spider-Man, Ultimate Fantastic Four and The Ultimates. His Millarworld line of comics boasts a roster of creator-owned titles such as Wanted, turned into the 2008 Angelina Jolie starrer, and Kick-Ass, whose sequel is filming in London and Toronto. Universal also is developing his War Heroes series with Michael De Luca producing. The Secret Service, co-created with Watchmen's Dave Gibbons and Vaughn, also is in development.

The U.K. native also is the editor of CLiNT magazine, an adviser on film to the Scottish government and managing director of his film and television company Millarworld Prods.

“As someone who has spent his entire life obsessed with both comic books and movies, this is essentially my dream gig as it's a unique combination of both,” Millar added. “I spent 10 years working at Marvel and am really happy with the work I did on the comic side of things, so the idea of working with these characters now in a brand new medium is enormously exciting for me."

Identity Thief Trailer Is Here

Here is the first trailer for Identity Thief. Horrible Bosses’ Jason Bateman and Bridesmaids’ Melissa McCarthy lead the cast of Identity Thief, an all-star comedy in which a regular guy is forced to extreme measures to clear his name. With everything to lose after his identity is stolen, he’ll find out how crazed you can get trying to settle a bad credit score.

Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads “Sandy Bigelow Patterson”… and it belongs to an accounts rep (Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S.11 With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. And as he attempts to bribe, coax and wrangle her the 2,000 miles to Denver, one easy target will discover just how tough it is to get your name back.

Directed by Horrible Bosses’ Seth Gordon, Identity Thief is produced by Scott Stuber (Ted), Bateman and Pamela Abdy (upcoming 47 Ronin). The comedy co-stars Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Genesis Rodriguez, Morris Chestnut, John Cho, Robert Patrick and Eric Stonestreet.

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes Looking For A Director

20th Century Fox has come up with a short list to replace Rupert Wyatt as the director of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. I’m hearing that Cloverfield’s Matt Reeves is atop the list, along with The Disappearance Of Alice Creed helmer J Blakeson, 28 Weeks Later helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Take Shelter and Mud director Jeff Nichols, Pacific Rim helmer Guillermo del Toro, The Impossible helmer Juan Antonio Bayona and Looper helmer Rian Johnson (Johnson’s reps deny he is in the hunt).

Fox production president Emma Watts is steering the effort to fill the plum post that Wyatt exited. Deadline revealed September 17 that Wyatt, who helmed the superb franchise reboot Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, would not reprise. I’d heard at the time that his exit was similar to the same reason that Gary Ross stepped out of Hunger Games: Catching Fire; with Wyatt uncomfortable about making the May 23, 2014 release date that the studio announced in May.

This should all be decided rather quickly, and this certainly helps the effort that Watts and Jim Gianopulos are making to invite elite emerging filmmakers into the Fox fold, with the promise of giving them more creative leeway. Who wouldn’t want to jump on this sequel, which already has a script by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver. They did the first film, which grossed $483 million worldwide and seamlessly set up the apocalyptic sequel plotline.

Welcome To The Punch James McAvoy

First image from Eran 'Shifty' Creevy's intriguing new London-based thriller Welcome To The Punch is careering towards the big screen like the kind of souped-up Capri the Professionals used to hoon around in. The hair isn't as permed nor the trousers as tight these days.

Punch, though, is a different beast to The Sweeney and co. "Whenever we came across a line that sounds a bit geezer-ish or gangster-ish we just got rid of it," stresses Creevy's co-lead and the film's rogue gangster, Mark Strong.11

"The script didn't feel like it had the humility and humbleness of a British film," adds James McAvoy, troubled 'tec Max Lewinsky in the film. "Don't get me wrong - I love British film and I love gritty, British drama. But we're not trying to go, 'This is the real world.' We're going, 'Here's a fuckin' rip-roaring, really emotionally powerful piece of entertainment,' you know?"11

Creevy describes the conflicted Lewinsky as "damaged goods", a man yearning for a quite life who's reluctantly sucked back into a criminal conspiracy and forced to work with old nemesis Mark Strong.11

"He's suppressing a lot of pain," the director expands. "James is prepared to play him as a bit of a dick. A lot of actors would say, 'I can't be seen doing this!' James is like, 'I'll do that. I want him to be arrogant and pig-headed and bitter.'"11

Welcome To The Punch is out on March 15, 2013.

Justin Timberlake Has The Last Drop

"Trouble With the Curve" star Justin Timberlake is having no trouble lining up his next job, as he's in talks to topline Good Universe's romantic dramedy "The Last Drop," sources familiar with the project tell Variety.

Peter Sollett, who previously worked with the Good Universe team on "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist," is attached to direct from a script by Brandon and Phil Murphy that appeared on the 2011 Black List.

Should a deal make, Timberlake would play a charming alcoholic who works as a restaurant critic for New York Magazine. When he falls for a young woman, he realizes he must overcome his self-destructive addiction in order to have a real chance with her.

Greg Shapiro ("The Hurt Locker") will produce via his Kingsgate Films banner, while Good Universe toppers Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake will exec produce.

Timberlake continues to eschew blockbuster fare in favor of challenging dramatic material, having previously earned strong reviews for his perfs in Nick Cassavetes' "Alpha Dog" and David Fincher's "The Social Network." He next stars alongside Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan in the Coen brothers' folk music pic "Inside Llewyn Davis," and just wrapped the online gaming drama "Runner, Runner" with Ben Affleck and Anthony Mackie. Timberlake can currently be seen opposite Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams in WB's baseball dramedy "Trouble With the Curve."

Sollett directed the acclaimed 2002 indie "Raising Victor Vargas" before going on to helm "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist." He recently became attached to direct the equal rights drama "Freeheld," written by Ron Nyswaner ("Philadelphia").

The Murphys recently wrote a drama for Richard Branson's Virgin Produced about the relationship between Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger and Keith Richards as the band recorded its classic "Exile on Main Street" album. They're also developing a Steve McQueen biopic for Sony and producer Jerry Weintraub.

First Image Of Hugh Jackman As The Wolverine

I can hear all the ladies going crazy right now. Here is the first image of Hugh Jackman as The Wolverine.

So far, X-Men fans awaiting James Mangold's upcoming adaptation of The Wolverine, Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's astonishingly good 1982 limited comic series, have had to make do with dodgy pap shots and the occasional tweet from either the star or the director. Now, thanks to this brand new official still, that's all changed. Meet the new old Wolverine: fierce, furious and surprisingly veiny – but in an exceptionally toned and very muscular way, of course.

Gina Carano Attached To Female Expendables Film

As "Haywire" star Gina Carano continues to establish herself as an action heroine with an upcoming turn in "The Fast and the Furious 6," the former MMA fighter has become attached to topline an all-female riff on "The Expendables," which is being set up by Adi Shankar's banner 1984 Private Defense Contractors. Shankar will produce for the shingle, which plans to fully finance the "Expendables"-inspired project.

Company remains in talks with several prominent actresses affiliated with the action genre in addition to Carano, who director Steven Soderbergh hand-picked to star in "Haywire" alongside more experienced thesps such as Michael Fassbender and Channing Tatum.

Dutch Southern, who wrote the 2010 Black List script "Hoof Harrington's Greatest Hits," was tapped to write the estrogen-powered action pic back in August, just as "The Expendables 2" was opening atop the box office.

This has been a banner year for female-driven actioners like "The Hunger Games," "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Resident Evil: Retribution," which respectively starred Jennifer Lawrence, Kristen Stewart and Milla Jovovich. "I don't know how I'm supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of 'The Expendables' without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba," said Shankar, whose shingle recently co-produced Joe Carnahan's "The Grey," Pete Travis' "Dredd 3D," Andrew Dominik's upcoming Brad Pitt-starrer "Killing Them Softly" and the viral Internet hit "The Punisher: Dirty Laundry," starring Thomas Jane.

In addition to a key role in "The Fast and the Furious 6," Carano is also attached to star in John Stockwell's "Taken"-esque action-thriller "In the Blood." She's repped by the Gersh Agency, The Syndicate and Ziffren Brittenham.

Dwayne Johnson To Star In Lore

Barry Sonnenfeld is in talks to direct Dwayne Johnson in Lore, a film based on an Ashley Wood IDW graphic novel about a secret order that defends the world against creatures thought to be mythological, but which actually exist. It becomes another big movie for Warner Bros. The film is being produced by Mad Chance’s Andrew Lazar is producing with Circle Of Confusion’s David Alpert and Rick Jacobs.

This was a hot job, and I’d heard the studio met with a bunch of good directors. Sonnenfeld makes a degree of sense. When I first wrote about the project when it was acquired in April in a 7-figure spec deal that involved four studios fighting for it, it was described to me as tonally similar to Men In Black, and Sonnenfeld directed all three of those. Cory Goodman wrote the script with Jeremy Lott. Ted Adams from IDW Publishing and Wood are exec producers along with Mad Chance’s Miri Yoon.

Marty is going to get all the focus and inspiration he needs, just as long as he lives to tell the tale.

Jake Gyllenhaal Could Be A Prisoner

Now that he’s fully on board, director Denis Villeneuve is wasting no time making sure that thriller Prisoners finally makes the leap from in-development buzz project to fully functioning feature film. He’s now looking to get a recent collaborator aboard, with Jake Gyllenhaal in talks.

Gyllenhaal and Villeneuve must’ve gotten along while they were shooting indie thriller An Enemy this year, as the director has targeted the actor to play a detective investigating the kidnapping of a young girl and her best friend in a small town. Gyllenhaal had apparently been considering the movie before he met Villeneuve, but hadn’t made a final decision.

If he locks in a deal, Gyllenhaal will go up against Hugh Jackman, the distraught father of the girl, who takes matters into his own hands by kidnapping the man he thinks is responsible. Melissa Leo was also recently cast in an unspecified role.

Tom Hardy Climbs Everest

Tom Hardy is in early talks to star in Everest for Sony Pictures. He will play George Mallory, the climber who tried three times in the 1920s to become the first man to scale the world’s highest mountain. Doug Liman will direct the film after he completes All You Need Is Kill at Warner Bros with Tom Cruise. An adaptation of Jeffrey Archer’s book Paths Of Glory, Everest has been adapted by Sheldon Turner (Up In The Air). Jennifer Klein is producing, and Dave Bartis, Liman’s partner at Hypnotic, will also be a producer.

Liman, the Bourne Identity and Mr. And Mrs. Smith helmer who is himself an avid climber and fan of the Mallory story, has an actor who is a strong match for the intensity that burned in Mallory to get to the top of the mountain and beat another great climber, Australian George Finch (the grandfather of actor Peter Finch). Everest has been scaled many times since, but it is still dangerous–there are plenty of bodies near the final summit of those who got close but failed–but in Mallory’s time, it was like trying to become the first man on the moon.
At the time, Great Britain had been decimated by WWI, poverty and angst was rampant and the nation craved a hero. Mallory tried hard to fill that bill, even though he was caught short in his first two attempts to summit the mountain, in 1921 and 1922. A devoted husband and father, he was torn between adventure and the simple fact his family wanted him with them. He refused to use oxygen to aid him in high altitude in thin air the first two times. On the final climb, he and climbing partner Sandy Irvine used the oxygen and were last glimpsed in 1924 as they made their final assault near the top. They disappeared into the clouds and Mallory wasn’t seen again until they were discovered by climber Conrad Anker in 1999. That the discovery in 1999 was the basis for the rather incredible Anthony Geffen-directed docu The Wildest Dream. The big question is whether Mallory died after he completed the unprecedented summit. Some feel he became the first man to climb the mountain: Mallory took with him a photo of his wife, which he had vowed to place atop Everest. It was not found in his possessions. The first successful climb in which the men returned to tell the tale didn’t come until 1953, when New Zealander Edmund Hillary and Nepali sherpa climber Tenzing Norgay got to the top and came back down.

HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET Review. Don't Go Down This Street

HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET Review
By: RAMA

Did this movie scare the pants off of RAMA?

A thriller that has potential, the concept isn’t all that bad once you think about it twice after the movie ends, the problem is the execution and the delivery. I think there are better ways to handle this concept, sadly it’s handled this way instead. HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET is a thriller that waited almost two years so it can bank on Jennifer Lawrence’s now popular status but perhaps this is one film that should’ve remained shelved…

Seeking a fresh start, newly divorced Sarah (Oscar®-nominee Elisabeth Shue; Leaving Las Vegas, Piranha 3D) and her daughter Elissa (Oscar®-nominee Jennifer Lawrence; The Hunger Games, X-Men: First Class) find the house of their dreams in a small, upscale, rural town. But when startling and unexplainable events begin to happen, Sarah and Elissa learn the town is in the shadows of a chilling secret. Years earlier, in the house next door, a daughter killed her parents in their beds, and disappeared – leaving only a brother, Ryan (Max Thieriot, My Soul to Take), as the sole survivor. Against Sarah’s wishes, Elissa begins a relationship with the reclusive Ryan – and the closer they get, the deeper they’re all pulled into a mystery more dangerous than they ever imagined.

I enjoy the Hitchcockian psychological aspect of this film, that HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET offers more than just your usual scares, that this is not just about a group of teens stuck in the middle of nowhere and end up being chased by a maniac with a chainsaw, not that I didn’t enjoy that formulaic plotline either. The twists and turns in this film are very interesting because with each reveal, you’d get more interested to see what really happened to the lead characters in the past and what extra secrets they’ve kept. Without spoiling much, eventually you the audience will understand why a certain girl tries and tries to run away, it’s because she’s not who the movie would have us believe at first.

But alas, the direction is mediocre at best, it couldn’t meet the concept halfway, I think the script could’ve been more well written or more well composed, the film badly wants to be character driven and it shows good signs of heading that direction but it doesn’t do enough and I think the physically demanding sequences are poorly staged or choreographed, so what you get are a few unintentionally laughable moments. At the center of it all, there’s this mother-daughter story where the daughter seems more responsible than her mom and her mom wants to make up for lost times but her busy schedule doesn’t allow her to, it all leads up those two fighting for survival, that’s good and all but instead of center, that whole part often feels more like a side dish. Actor Max Thieriot has the toughest job of playing the most complex character in this film and he does well in playing the misunderstood Ryan Jacobson, but he doesn’t have enough intensity and conviction to pull the other side of Ryan Jacobson.1 I think you’re better off not ever visiting that one creepy HOUSE AT THE END OF THE STREET.
