BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Hope Your Ready For Another Robocop Movie Cause It's Coming

After spending a lot of time developing a sequel to a 1980s' film (Aliens), only for that effort to end in frustration, Neill Blomkamp could be forgiven for avoiding follow-ups to cult movies. Yet he's now attached to direct the latest sequel to 1987's RoboCop, currently called RoboCop Returns . This one has been bubbling away in development at MGM for a while now, with the original Paul Verhoeven film's writers Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner overseeing the new script. While they produced a draft a few years ago, they've now handed the actual screenplay chores to Justin Rhodes, writer of the new Terminator movie in production. The basic story for the film will see Detroit fallen further into mayhem and criminal chaos when slain cop-turned cyborg-hero RoboCop makes his triumphant return to clear up the streets. "The original definitely had a massive effect on me as a kid," Blomkamp tells Deadline. "I loved it then and it remains a classic in the

Neill Blomkamp's Alien Film On Hold

As reported recently, Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel, now titled Alien: Paradise Lost , has taken precedent over Neill Blomkamp 's intriguing Alien ideas, entering production first at the beginning of next year. While we were initially led to believe that Blomkamp's own Alien would likely follow a year later, that now, sadly, turns out not to be the case. Blomkamp has tweeted that his Alien project is currently in a "holding" pattern, possibly indefinitely, and that he's moving on to other things. If you somehow missed it, Blomkamp's Alien arrived in a flurry of activity at the beginning of this year, just as Chappie was hitting cinemas. Blomkamp released some just-for-fun Alien designs online, featuring both Sigourney Weaver's Ripley and Michael Biehn's Corporal Hicks. The internet went crazy, and Fox got excited and put the project in development. Conspicuously though, while there were some lovely pictures, there never seemed to actuall

We Will Have To Wait A Little Longer For Neill Blomkamp’s ALIEN Film

Here an update of the Neill Blomkamp’s new ALIEN movie. Bloody Disgusting is reporting.. “Alien 5 is still very much in the works, as Fox remains hot on the idea. Blomkamp continues to work on the script (only an outline existed previously) and refine the tale he is telling. Ridley Scott is still producing, but has insisted on Prometheus 2 being made first.” PROMETHEUS 2 may start production next year and then we’ll see about Blomkamp’s new ALIEN movie which he is currently writing. Ridley Scott will produce this next ALIEN movie which Blomkamp previously promised wouldn’t tread on the toes of Scott’s “Prometheus 2″ which itself also promises to divert away from ‘Alien’ franchise. Blomkamp’s ALIEN will pay respect to “ Alien 3 ″ and “ Alien Resurrection ” instead of completely ignoring them, at least that what Blomkamp promised,.. there are many promises here but it’s still uncertain where his new ALIEN movie will fit in the series. Movie Review: Chappie

Chappie is crappy. Review by Matt Cummings Director Neill Blomkamp has been charged with returning the Alien franchise back to James Cameron glory, but until then he's got another futuristic story to tell on Earth. Unfortunately saddled with an over-sexualized oddity that gets in the way of a potentially interesting story, Chappie is crushed under its own weight of random comedy, poor character development, and extremely bad haircuts. The ultra-violent world of Johannesburg, South Africa is the stage for Blomkamp's latest, as robot police officers have taken over, leaving the city nearly crime free. But one robot - the oft-repaired Scout 22 - returns to the facility shot and dead to rights. When it's determined that its battery has been fused and can't be repaired, it's sent to the scrap, until its designer Deon (Dev Patel) rescues it. Already a success in developing the Scouts, he's working on an AI program hat would allow them to experience

*UPDATED* Neill Blomkamp's Alien Sequel to Ignore Alien³ and Alien Resurrection

New film aims to be The Real Alien 3. By Brandon Wolfe After a week of rampant speculation, director Neill Blomkamp, doing a press tour for his upcoming film Chappie , has confirmed that his recently announced Alien sequel will indeed deal with problematic previous installments Alien³ and Alien Resurrection by simply blinking them out of existence, much like Halloween: H20 and Superman Returns did with the preceding sequels they didn’t like. “I want this film to feel like it is literally the genetic sibling of Aliens , so it’s Alien, Aliens , this movie,” said Blomkamp. “It’s a Freudian kind of nightmare. That element to me is what is so appealing, to try to put the audience on the edge of their seat the whole time in a traditional ‘monster stalking you/dark corridor’ way. And then when you mix in the life cycle and the design elements of the Alien, it’s just a powder-keg of creativity to me.” Blomkamp further confirmed to The Guardian that he would “categorically”

Neill Blomkamp Alien Film Concept Art

Director Neill Blomkamp , who has brought us films such as District 9 and Elysium , was developing an Alien film, but has apparently scrapped work on the project. It would have been part of the same franchise from Ridley Scott and James Cameron , and we have some concept art to share with you that shows how cool it would have looked. Blomkamp revealed the news himself on his Instagram page along with several illustrations that were done for it. I've included the notes from the director that came along with each piece of art. The first one you see above came with the following caption: "Was working on this. Don't think I am anymore. Love it though. #alien #xenomorph" He also posted the following comments on Twitter: "Ps this has nothing to do with the studio. I just feel like I might do something else instead. In which case why not show some work- See all the images after the Jump... Please Leave A Comment- S

Hugh Jackman To Star In Chappie

Hugh Jackman might be enjoying a break between projects – sort of, since he’s been on the promotional trail for his latest film, kidnap drama Prisoners – but he has plenty of movies lined up and has just added another to the list. Speaking at a press conference at the Zurich Film Festival, he announced he’s taken a role in Neill Blomkamp’s robo-action-comedy Chappie . “I am doing a role in Neill’s new film, called Chappie , which we shoot in Johannesburg,” Jackman said, as reported by Screen International. “I’m there for a couple of weeks at the beginning of next year.” Sharlto Copley will be voicing the titular droid, an advanced machine stolen by two gangsters (rappers Ninja and Yolandi Visser) who look to use the robot for their own criminal ends. Eugene Khumbanyiwa and Elysium’s Jose Pablo Cantillo are also aboard the film, which Blomkamp wrote with Terri Tatchell. There's no word on Jackman's precise role yet, but look out for that soon. In related Jackman new

Elysium Review. Elysium is A Wild, Messy, Ugly, & Awesome Futuristic Ride

Elysium Review By: MattInRC If you had the great luck to check out the Science Fiction surprise District 9 , you were introduced to South African filmmaker Neill Blomkamp , who painted the perfect 'Can't we all get along?' apartheid story. His newest release, the distopian Elysium, isn't as provocative or as meaningful, but it does strengthen his resume as an up-and-coming director in an intriguing batch of rising stars. Set in the year 2154, Elysium is more like A Tale of Two Cities, except this one features an Earth choking on its own pollution, crime, and absolute destitution. Robots patrol the streets, but no one seems willing to stop the human misery. Enter the ex-con Max ( Matt Damon , The Bourne Identity), who's trying to put his life back on track. With his head shaved and a body full of tattoos, Max works at the local plant which makes the robotic henchman who early in the show break his arm while conducting a search. It's in the hospital tha
