Kelli Garner Cast As Marilyn Monroe In Upcoming Lifetime Miniseries

Lifetime has found its Marilyn Monroe . Pan Am and The Aviator alum Kelli Garner has been tapped to play the blonde bombshell in the cabler's upcoming miniseries Marilyn, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. In Marilyn , a four-hour miniseries based on J. Randy Taraborrelli's book, The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe , Garner will topline the drama that explores Monroe's family life and how she succeeded in hiding from an all-too-invasive world. Garner's Monroe is described as a woman who will walk red carpets in shimmering gowns while fighting a battle against demons she's inherited from her mentally ill mother Gladys (Susan Sarandon, Dead Man Walking), whom she loves, hates and wants desperately to save. Here's Lifetime's official description of the mini: "Marilyn is both the personification of sex, whose first marriage ironically collapses because of her frigidity, and a fragile artist who seeks the approval and protection of men. But afte

Jessica Chastain To Play Marilyn Monroe

Andrew Dominik has been trying to make a film based on Joyce Carol Oates’ 2001 novel Blonde for more than four years now. It appears he’s close to making it happen, with The Wrap reporting that Jessica Chastain is figuring out a deal to play Marilyn Monroe . Oates’ tome used biographical and historical sources to spin a new story focusing on the inner life of Norma Jean Baker , the woman behind the screen idol and tragic starlet. The portrait emerges of a fragile, gifted young woman with a knack for reinvention, who used those skills to overcome great odds. The book was a finalist for both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award, and Dominik was so taken with it that he wrote the script adaptation on spec. After floating in limbo for a couple of years, it was snatched up by Brad Pitt’s Plan B, which will produce the film with Worldview Entertainment. Chastain can certainly handle a role of this complexity, and it would hardly be her first time working blonde, as anyo

MY WEEK WITH MARILYN Movie Review By: RAMA

MY WEEK WITH MARILYN Movie Review By: RAMA Did RAMA fall in love with Michelle Williams ' performance as Marilyn Monroe ? Make sure to Follow him on Facebook and Twitter . MY WEEK WITH MARILYN is exquisite! Michelle Williams’ portrayal of the legendary Marilyn Monroe is luminous and heartbreaking. It must be challenging to play one of cinema’s all time bombastic bombshells, Williams doesn’t look like Marilyn Monroe but she captures Monroe’s essence, her soft spoken voice and her sultry, teasing, mannerism. The moment Marilyn Monroe walks into a room, everybody drops whatever it is that they’re doing and all eyes behold her, Williams disappears in her character… In the early summer of 1956, 23 year-old Colin Clark, just down from Oxford and determined to make his way in the film business, worked as a lowly assistant on the set of “ THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWGIRL ”, the film that united Sir Laurence Olivier with Marilyn Monroe, who, whilst shooting, was also on honeymoon wi

First Picture Of Michelle Williams As Monroe

Michelle Williams As Monroe It's icons 'r' us this afternoon, thanks to this uncannily doppelganger-like shot of Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn . The actress is togging up to play the iconic blonde in the Weinstein Company/Trademark Films co-production, now underway at Pinewood. My Week With Marilyn is an adaptation of Colin Clark's novel, which recounts the story of Monroe's visit to Britain to film The Prince And The Showgirl with Lawrence Olivier ( Kenneth Branagh ) in 1956. As you might expect, the pair don't exactly become bosom buddies. Under pressure and looking for a temporary escape from the Hollywood spotlight, Monroe takes off on a week-long jaunt with Clark ( Eddie Remayne ), a lowly on-set assistant, in a kind of Roman Road holiday. Monroe, recently married to Arthur Miller ( Dougray Scott ), gets to sample the delights of London life. Here's hoping she gives jellied eels a wide berth. Williams joins a
