NBC's Chuck A Threat To Fox's House?

NBC's Chuck A Threat To Fox's House?

No amount of apples will keep the doctor away from the Chuck premiere.

Fox has moved up the date for the next original episode of House to Jan. 11, a Fox spokeswoman confirmed. The move pits the hit drama against the season premiere of NBC's underdog Chuck, announced last month. It also comes two days after NBC announced its midseason schedule.

House previously was scheduled to return to the Fox lineup Jan. 25 in the Mondays at 8 p.m. time slot.

The second half of the two-night, four-hour 24 premiere is still scheduled for Monday Jan. 18. House originals will resume on Jan. 25.

CBS has been winning Mondays with its comedy block and CSI: Miami and has not announced any changes to that schedule in midseason. Since Dancing With the Stars ended, ABC has been filling the 8-10 block with holiday specials, Find My Family reality show and then Castle has been running at 10. The Bachelor returns to ABC Mondays from 8-10 starting Jan. 4.

J.J. Abrams' "Undercovers." Gets It's Male Lead

J.J. Abrams' "Undercovers." Gets It's Male Lead

Boris Kodjoe has landed the male lead in J.J. Abrams' pilot for NBC "Undercovers."

"Undercovers," described as a mix between "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "The Bourne Identity," revolves around spouses Samantha and Steven (Kodjoe) Bloom, who work together as spies.

Earlier this week, veteran Gerald McRaney became the first actor tapped for the project as the couple's CIA boss. The role of Samantha is yet to be cast.

Abrams is considering directing the Warner Bros. TV-produced pilot, which he co-wrote with Josh Reims.

Kodjoe is a bold choice for a leading man on a network drama as broadcasters have stuck predominantly with Caucasian leads.

Kodjoe, is probably best known for his starring role on the series "Soul Food." He will next be seen in "Resident Evil: Afterlife."

Laurence Fishburne To Take On Predators

Laurence Fishburne To Take On Predators

Hope his kung fu is up to scratch - Laurence Fishburne has joined the cast of Nimrod Antal's Predators.

After visiting the set of the new, Robert Rodriguez-produced take on the be-dreadlocked alien hunters, the lads at Shock 'Till You Drop have learned that Morpheus himself is joining the cast to play a tough guy named Roland.

It's perhaps less of a shock given that Fishburne and Antal just worked together on Armored, and that Larry is the sort of bloke you'd want around if you were fighting the warrior race.

He'll star alongside the likes of Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Alice Braga and The Shield's Walton Goggins.

We love the little plot description at the end of the story: "They play a disparate group of people who land on the Predator home planet only to discover 'unspeakable horrors.'" And here we were thinking that the aliens' home contained flowery meadows and rainbow skies, and rivers made of chocolate, where children dance and laugh and play with gumdrop smiles…

Doc Holliday Has More Adventures Upcoming

Doc Holliday Has More Adventures Upcoming

Paramount Pictures has snapped up Chad St. John's action adventure spec "The Further Adventures of Doc Holliday" in the hopes of turning it into a Western-style tentpole.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who produced the studio's "Transformers" films, is onboard to produce via his Par-based shingle.

Studio is keeping the logline under wraps, but the project is described as a history-based action adventure tale in the vein of "Pirates of the Caribbean."

The famously tuberculosis-ridden gunfighter Holliday is best known for his friendship with Western lawman Wyatt Earp and for his role in 1881's Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Ariz.

Twilight's Taylor Lautner Going To Be The Next Action Star?

Twilight's Taylor Lautner Going To Be The Next Action Star?

Summit Entertainment and producers Temple Hill are crafting an action vehicle for their “Twilight” star Taylor Lautner that shapes up as the first film after his breakthrough in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.”

After an injury sidelines a teen’s plans to be an elite soldier, he tries to get on with his life by heading to college. There, he meets a girl who convinces him to join her friends on a spring break trip to Cancun. When his traveling partners are kidnapped and ransomed for the freedom of a drug cartel leader about to be extradited, the college student uses his warrior skills to rescue them.

Summit has acquired an untitled script by Eric Champnella and Grant Thompson that is best described as a teen-aged “Taken” meets “Die Hard.”

Dan Lautner will produce with Temple Hill partners Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen.

Dan Lautner is the actor’s father, and the action project becomes the first project in Tailor Made Entertainment, a company they've formed to develop film and TV vehicles.

Godfrey said the project grew out of Lautner’s enthusiasm for “Taken”—which he saw during the filming of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon”--and his desire to do a movie in the genre. The Champnella/Thompson script offered the opportunity for the former karate champ to use the brawn and physical skills he displayed during his recent hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live.”

“We wanted to continue working with Taylor and feel he’s got the chops to become a big action star,” Godfrey said.

Lautner recently became attached to “Max Steel” at Paramount.

Godfrey said the hope is to get the Cancun-set project into production by June. Lautner will reprise his role of Jacob in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” beginning late 2010, and it is likely that the final book will be divided into two films that will shoot back-to-back.

Hot Tub Time Machine Trailer-Awesome!

Hot Tub Time Machine Trailer-Awesome!

I could totally see myself and buddies loving to find one of these time machines.

What fun we could have.

What were u doing in 1986? Before Twitter and Facebook.

We admit the raunchy time-travel comedy Hot Tub Time Machine sounded like all kinds of bad when we first heard about it, but the new trailer, below, makes it seem at least funny in parts, which is progress.

Things we like: the Back to the Future Hot Tub interface, John Cusack riffing on his '80s Lloyd Dobler persona, the texting/online jokes, and besides, who doesn't like making fun of the '80s?

Things we don't like: Rob Corddry. After his disgusting FBI agent in Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay, we think he seriously needs to dial it back if he doesn't want to become the most annoying actor in the history of movies.

But we digress. Here's the official description of Hot Tub Time Machine:

A group of best friends have become bored with their adult lives: Adam has been dumped by his girlfriend; Lou is a party guy who can't find the party; Nick's wife controls his every move; and video game-obsessed Jacob won't leave his basement. After a crazy night of drinking in a ski resort hot tub, the men wake up, heads pounding, in the year 1986. This is their chance to kick some past and change.

Starring: John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke, Lizzy Caplan Directed by: Steve Pink Produced by: Matt Moore (III), John Cusack, Grace Loh

Steve Carell and Tina Fey teaming up once again?

Steve Carell and Tina Fey teaming up once again?

The duo, who will be seen opposite each other in next year's "Date Night," are loosely attached to star in "Mail-Order Groom," a Warner Bros. comedy about a naive single woman who can't find love and ends up with a husband from Eastern Europe, bringing him home to the States.

Glenn Ficarra and John Requa have come on board to do a light rewrite of the script, which was originally written by Robert Carlock and Scott Silveri. The story is based on an idea by Fey's husband, Jeff Richmond, plus Carlock and Silveri.

Carell's Carousel Prods. and Fey's Little Stranger are producing "Groom."

The onscreen reunion for the duo, however, is a dicey proposition. The project has no director, and the only window for Carell and Fey to shoot would be the hiatus of their TV shows, "The Office" and "30 Rock," respectively. Fey doesn't wrap "Rock" until March 23, then goes into PR mode during the month of April for "Date Night."

Bryan Singer To Direct "X-Men: First Class"

Bryan Singer To Direct "X-Men: First Class"

Singer first mentioned that he'll be working on the project while talking to MySpace last night at "Avatar" premiere. At this time neither Fox nor Marvel has had official comment, but sources close to the matter say that yes, Singer is on board in a big way.

The "develop" news insinuates that the last script by Josh Schwartz may not be in Singer's future plans. It was expected that the new film would tell the story of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast and other familiar characters as teenagers when they first meet Professor Charles Xavier and join his School for Gifted Youngsters. The premise has been rumored for sometime, but was hinted at with a subplot of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" which featured early incarnations of Cyclops and Emma Frost (aka The White Queen) among others. It's unclear if Singer's intention to bring a new vision to the film will change that scenario.

The irony of Singer returning to Fox will not be lost on the industry. Singer became a hero to comic book fans after helming the first "X-men" and "X-2" films before famously dissing the studio by jumping from "X-3: The Last Stand" to helm Warner Bros.' "Superman Returns" instead. Warner Bros. is said to have been wary to work with the notoriously difficult Singer since then and the "Usual Suspects" director moved on to United Artists where he brought Tom Cruise's "Valkyrie" to life. Since the film's release a year ago, Singer has been attaching himself to seemingly every potential action movie in town including a potential big screen reboot of "Battlestar Galactica." It's unclear what this news means to the controversial reincarnation (at least to fans of the "BSG" TV show). Overall, Singer must have shown some real humility to be welcomed back by the Fox film brass.

Singer is currently working on an adaptation of "Jack the Giant Killer" which is expected to begin production later this year.

Spider-Man 4 Being Delayed Again

Spider-Man 4 Being Delayed Again

UPDATE: Sony has contacted us this morning and they are denying the story. The production is on their expected holiday hiatus, but will ramp up again early next year.

Yes, the filmmakers are working on the script, but there is nothing unusual about that at all, productions always are working and tweaking scripts right up until principal photography begins and that is still a few months away.

End of update.
Looks like everyone's friendly neighborhood web slinger has been been placed on indefinite hold said an inside source exclusively to the IESB today.

Apparently, several department heads working on the SPIDER-M4N production were notified of the halt last Thursday. Spidey and friends have some issues that need to be dealt with before production can move forward once again. Oh, and the film is known as SPIDER-M4N within the production offices so take note! Who wants to be the first to start the trending topic on Twitter #SPIDER-M4N?

An inside source working on the project tells IESB that there are some major issues director Sam Raimi is dealing with that include an incomplete script. And why is the script incomplete? Looks like Raimi and the studio heads at Sony Pictures can't agree upon a villain for the film.

Raimi is pushing hard for the Vulture to be the big baddie, something he also pushed for in the third film to star alongside the Sandman but didn't get and we all know how that one turned out. Vulture was to do his evil deeds alongside the new Goblin and Sandman. A single concept art sketch can be seen in "The Art of Spider-Man 3" book. Vulture and Flint Marko would have been cellmates who escaped together, with Vulture pressuring the more passive Marko into committing crimes.

On the flip side, who does the studio want to be the villain? Our source says they seem to only be interested in featuring which ever character is selling books right now but basically they have no idea, just not the Vulture.

So, production on SPIDER-M4N grinded to a halt this past Thursday and isn't budging until some compromises are made. Sony is in a bit of a dilemna though because they are insistent upon getting a film shooting as soon as possible. Our source also said these issues aren't being handled in the most friendliest of fashions. There is apparently some definite anger within the production with several people very "pissed off".

Perhaps they will use the time over the holidays to calm down in order to make some compromises to decide which way the film will be headed as the new year begins in January.

We will have to wait and see!

"Hoodwinked Too Hood vs. Evil" Delayed

"Hoodwinked Too Hood vs. Evil" Delayed

Originally set to premiere the weekend of Jan. 15, "Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil" now will debut in February at the earliest. David Glasser, a senior Weinstein Co. executive who oversees distribution, cited a few reasons for the move.

He said the company is focusing its resources on a big marketing and promotion push for "Youth in Revolt," its teen comedy starring Michael Cera that debuts Jan. 8, and it is also making some "tweaks" to the animation of "Hoodwinked Too."

"We were rushing to get the picture ready," said Glasser of the decision to hit pause on "Hoodwinked Too." Although the original "Hoodwinked" also opened on the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend and did well, Glasser believes "Youth in Revolt" is strong enough to "own a couple of weeks."

Glasser added that Weinstein Co. is the final stages of a marketing deal with a fast-food chain, although he declined to disclose any other details on a promotional tie-in campaign for "Hoodwinked Too."

Glasser said a new firm release date for "Hoodwinked Too" has not yet been set, but he hinted he ls looking at February. While Weinstein Co.'s financial challenges have been well documented and the company has over the last 18 months shuffled many of its release dates (including most recently "Nine"), Glasser said money is not an issue in the decision to delay "Hoodwinked Too!." Weinstein Co. did have reason to celebrate yesterday as the company's movies -- including "Nine" and "Inglourious Basterds" -- were nominated for 12 Golden Globes.

Summit Gets Their Hand On "Drive Angry"

Summit Entertainment has picked up the North American distribution to the Nicolas Cage revenge movie "Drive Angry," setting a release date of February 11, 2011.

The move keeps the company in the Cage business, which has been a successful one for the company. Summit was behind "Knowing," which grossed almost $80 million domestically when it was released in March and $183 million worldwide.

"Angry," which is now in pre-production, centers on a man (Cage) driven by rage who is chasing the people who killed his daughter and kidnapped her baby. The vendetta/rescue spins out of control, as the chase gets bloodier by the mile, leaving bodies strewn along the highway.

The project, which will be in 3-D, is being directed by Patrick Lussier ("My Bloody Valentine") from a screenplay penned by Lussier and Todd Farmer.

Michael De Luca is producing via his Michael De Luca Productions banner along with Adam Fields. Boaz Davidson and Danny Dimbort will executive produce via their Nu Image Films banner along with Avi Lerner and Trevor Short.

NBC Chuck's 11 Season 3 Spoilers Revealed

NBC Chuck's 11 Season 3 Spoilers Revealed

We're in for the most awesome season of Chuck ever! In fact, Chuck star Zachary Levi and the producers of the NBC comic spy series promise Chuck will be at his most bumbling, glitchiest and butt-kicking best when the series premieres its third season on Sunday, Jan. 10, at 9 p.m. with two enormous episodes. And if that's not enough for the Chuckites of the world, another mammoth episode will air in the show's regular timeslot the next day on Monday at 8 p.m.

"For two years I kind of sat on the sidelines and watched Adam Baldwin and Yvonne Strahovski, Casey and Sarah respectively, kick bad guys' butts and was very jealous of that," said Levi during a conference call with journalists, which also included executive producers Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak. "Not that Chuck should have been able to do it at that point. He was much better at running away or screaming like a little girl. But now that he has this new Intersect 2.0 and the abilities that come with that, he is able to kind of lend a hand in the kick-buttery, if you will."

Here are 11 awesome developments we have to look forward to with Chuck's third season:

1. Chuck may be SuperChuck, but he's still Chuck!

"He's still the kind of somewhat bumbling hero, and I think that's what brings so much of the heart and premise of the show and keeps that there. Though Chuck now has these abilities, they're fleeting, they're in and out, they're glitchy," said Levi. "This new door that we walk through now just lends itself to both more action and more comedy, which I think is good all the way around, and it doesn't change the heart of the show, which I think some fans I know were maybe concerned, like, 'Oh, gosh, now he's Jason Bourne. It's not going to be the same show anymore.' I can guarantee you I am no Jason Bourne."

2. However, prepare for the evolution of Chuck!

We're "really trying to take advantage of Zach's skills and abilities, as an actor, to really grow that character up," said Schwartz. "I can imagine it would be very frustrating if he was still sitting in the car, scared of everything like he was in the beginning of season one. ... He really has come a long way, I think, as a character and as a guy... man, dare I say 'man'? ... We've really tried to make an effort that Chuck evolves."

"This season very much is like we're building a hero here," said Fedak. "And so for each season essentially it's been a process of going from a regular guy, to a guy who's going to get out of the car, to a guy who's going to have true adventures and to be a hero."

And it's certainly "something that Sarah Walker is very cognizant of and concerned about, because, you know, she fell in love with the guy. She didn't fall in love with the spy. And as she watches the guy become the spy, that's going to be a source of really good angst between the two of them. Not really good for them, but really good for audiences," Fedak added.

3. The kick-buttery of it all!

So, Chuck 2.0? What does it really mean for Chuck? "Most of it is fighting-oriented, you know, various forms of martial arts, in different kind of aspects, be it for a moment or for a whole full-fledged fight," said Levi. "But, yeah, [playing] musical instruments and, as you see in the previews, I may or may not speak Thai."

There may also be "some dancing and some vehicle maneuvering or whatever the case may be. ... I don't know, skydiving would be awesome. I don't know how we'd fit that in the budget, but to have a little bit of that going on would be cool, or bungee jumping or ... I'm personally, in my own life, a very big fan of extreme sports and adrenaline and all that stuff," he said. "To throw anything at him will certainly be out of his comfort zone and make for good entertainment, I think."

4. The infinite possibilities of Intersect 2.0's glitchiness!

"With the new Intersect you have to keep in mind that it was designed for a super-cold emotionless spy like Bryce Larkin. Someone who could essentially handle all these new abilities," said Fedak. "Now the problem is that's it's been downloaded into a guy like Chuck Bartowski, who's filled with emotion. And anxiety, fear, he's in love with his partner, all the things that actually don't help the Intersect don't help with these abilities."

That means sometimes the Intersect works "perfectly, and sometimes, when he gets flustered, when he gets upset, it begins to essentially fritz out, and he's not able to flash," Fedak added. "Now, in regard to the abilities themselves, there's a lot of abilities. ... They're infinite, really, in some ways. I didn't know Spanish guitar would be in the new spy Intersect, but, you know, it's in there. So it's really funny to kind of see what else was hidden in there by the Intersect scientists."

5. Chuck's secret is revealed ... again!

Last season Awesome, aka Ellie's now-husband Devon (Ryan McPartlin), discovered that Chuck was a spy. Well, Awesome is going to find himself sucked into "the spy side of the story" again. And "somebody else this year is going to learn Chuck's secret," said Fedak.

Beyond that, "Casey's harboring a secret of his own that he's kept quiet from the team and that's going to come into play this year as well," said Schwartz.

6. Prepare for an even more bizarre Buy More experience!

"The Buy More will always be a dysfunctional hotbed of competingly bizarre personalities," said Schwartz. "They're going to face their own challenges this year, cutbacks and potential management overthrows, a new assistant manager coming into the mix, someone you may know from the show. ... There'll be a new comely young lady who's going to come work at the Buy More this year, played by Miss Kristin Kreuk. She plays Hannah, and she's going to set multiple hearts aflutter, not just Chuck's."

Now that Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) and Awesome are married, "Chuck and Morgan (Joshua Gomez) are getting their bachelor pad." That unfortunately means the whole Benihana chef thing didn't work out for Morgan.

We'll see the return of Jefster, get a glimpse into the scary world of Lester's bedroom and discover what Lester wears to bed. And "Jeff, I think, actually has gotten weirder this year, if that's even possible."

7. More cool guest stars are on board this season!

Considering last season's overwhelming wealth of guest stars, which included Chevy Chase and Scott Bakula, can it get any better this year? Well, the producers tell us there will be major arcs for Smallville's Kreuk, when she joins the Buy More, and Superman Returns' Brandon Routh, when he takes on spy duty as a new member of the team. Other guest stars also on board are Vinnie Jones with a "Guy Richie villain energy," Armand Asante as a Castro-type dictator, Robert Patrick as an ominous soldier from Casey's past and Stone Cold Steve Austin as a baddie Chuck gets trapped with on a plane.

8. Chuck directs Chuck!

Apparently playing the ultimate computer nerd, enduring those heavy duty romantic scenes with Sarah and engaging in the kick-buttery of it all isn't enough for Levi. He also directed an episode this season. So which is harder, being a spy or directing a spy show?

"Oh, I would have to say 100 percent being a television director. And I can only say that because being a spy is completely fictitious, I suppose. And not that it doesn't have its difficulties," said Levi. "but directing an episode of television, and maybe even specifically our show ... there's a lot to the show. There's mini-genres. It's a cornucopia of genres, if you will, a horn of plenty. And there were certainly moments where I felt like I couldn't go on like this. I was very, very overwhelmed at a couple of moments. But overall it was just the most incredible experience, and I'm happy to be through it and done with it and really happy with the product that we got from it so. But, yeah, it was difficult."

9. Mission: Subway integration!

Remember the big deal involving Subway, where the sandwich people actually agreed to help kick in some bucks for the Chuck production if the brand was integrated into the series? "The name of the show is now Jared," joked Schwartz. "It's actually going to be far less of an integration, I think, than people feared or predicted at the end of last season. It won't be much more than what you saw last year."

"We started production early, so you won't even see it actually until a little later on in the season. But it'll be very similar to last season," added Fedak.

10. 13 episodes + 6 episodes = A LOT MORE CHUCK!

NBC initially picked up Chuck for 13 episodes. However, they liked what they saw so much that they ordered an additional six episodes. But how will that affect the series creatively?

"The season was being built to have this incredible end-of-season run as you get up to 13," said Schwartz. "And as I said to Chris, well, 13, what a great season finale that he wrote. And of course it's merely just another episode now with the back six. ... So then it was incumbent upon the writers to top that. So for the fans they're going to get a whole extra dose of insanity, which I think is going to be really exciting and raises everybody's game."

Luckily, the season began early enough that they were able to deal with how to incorporate the new episodes, said Fedak. The back six ended up turning into a new arc. "We had time to kind of figure out what those six huge episodes would be. And it's also a glimpse into what season four is going to be."

11. A fan-powered Chuck!

At the end of last season things seemed on the wrong side of the bubble for Chuck. "I think for all of us it was pins and needles and mixed with incredible pride in the sense that, like, well, we've put our best foot out there," said Schwartz. "All of a sudden, completely outside of our own power, this fan base uprising began. And it started out small, and it just grew and grew, and suddenly, you know, the show, which had at times lived below the radar except amongst its most passionate fans, really found a narrative, I think, in the broader media."

"It is really humbling," said Levi. "We knew that we had fans, and furthermore, I knew that we had really passionate fans. We're fortunate to be kind of in this world of like, you know, Comic-Con love. ... And Comic-Con fans, fans of sci-fi fantasy, they are the most die-hard will-stay-with-you-to-the-bitter-end fans, and tend to really know how to band together when it comes to the Internet and blogging and vlogging and any other -ogging, for that matter. And making sure that you don't go down without a fight. And our fans did just that and continue to do just that."

Battle Angel Alita Manga Next For James Cameron

Battle Angel Alita Manga Next For James Cameron

What better for James Cameron after the 3D sci-fi CGI action extravaganza that is Avatar than... the 3D sci-fi CGI action extravaganza that is Battle Angel Alita?

Talking to MTV as he passed by on the Avatar publicity treadmill, Cameron revealed that his long-talked about adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's cyberpunk manga is still very much on his agenda. "We've got a very good script, we've done about a year of production design, and we've put together an art reel that shows the arc of the film," he says. "It's pretty much 'just add water' and we're ready to go."

Battle Angel Alita (Gun / Dream in Japan) is a nine-volume series from the 1990s, featuring an amnesiac female cyborg rescued from a scrap heap by a cybernetics professor, who rebuilds her so that she can become a kick-ass martial arts bounty hunter. The first two volumes became an anime in 1993, but Kishiro was never enthusiastic about it, and while it was well-received in the US and UK, it wasn't a success on home turf.

Unsurprisingly for Cameron, technology is the big issue. "Shooting live stuff in 3-D and then adding CG characters and landscapes beyond that is a little tricky," he says. Does he not feel that he's cracked that with Avatar then? Does he want to evolve more new tech before he embarks on the next project? These auteurs are never satisfied.

Creature From the Black Lagoon Gets A New Director

Creature From the Black Lagoon Gets A New Director

When director Breck Eisner parted ways with Universal's remake of "Creature From the Black Lagoon" earlier this year, fans of the 1950s camp classic wondered if and when the new film would ever see the light of day.

But now the story of Gill-Man and his victims is getting a new director -- and possibly some new momentum. Carl Rinsch, the hot commercials director who recently signed on to direct the samurai adventure "47 Ronin" for Universal, is now also in talks to direct "Creature From the Black Lagoon" for the studio.

Here's an example of his work-

The movie, which was originally shot and shown in 3D -- a very primitive, 1950s kind of 3D -- revolves around a mythic monster who spooks scientists (and the requisite beautiful damsel) in the Amazon.

Cronenberg's early film (it was released in 1979, part of his own brood of '70s horror movies, two years before his landmark "Scanners"), is regarded as one of the scarier in the supernatural-horror genre. And Eisner knows scary: He just finished directing the remake of the George Romero military-experiment-gone-awry film "The Crazies," which is coming out in February.

As for "Black Lagoon," it wouldn't be the first time the sea-monster movie was brought back to life. Universal has tried several times over the past three decades, with everyone from John Landis to Peter Jackson contemplating a stab. (Jackson chose "King Kong" instead. Hey, you can't be right all the time.)

More recently, Gary Ross of "Seabiscuit" fame wrote a draft of the screenplay (in a nice bit of continuity, he's the son of Arthur Ross, who co-wrote the original). And Eisner had done a rewrite. But the studio is apparently back to the drawing board on the script.

All of these movies are part of a new crop of horror films -- Universal has "The Wolfman" with Benicio Del Toro set to come out early next year, and also is developing a new version of "Bride of Frankenstein." The tagline for the original "The Brood" is "They're waiting for you." You could say the same for monster remakes.

Christopher Nolan's Inception Poster

Christopher Nolan's Inception Poster-Leonaro DiCaprio In High Waters

The first official poster for Christopher Nolan's Inception has been discovered in a new viral mini-game. I hope this is a sign of things to come, as the viral for The Dark Knight was the best we've ever seen, and I want to see more virals like that. The poster is a similar design to the Joker poster from TDK but this time it has Leonaro DiCaprio facing away from us standing in knee-deep water rushing into a city. No, this isn't another Roland Emmerich disaster movie, this is part of someone's dreams or imagination. That doesn't really explain much, but it's still cool to see. More info on the viral can be found beneath the poster below.

A thriller set within the architecture of the mind about a CEO who is involved in a blackmailing scandal.

Inception is both written and directed by acclaimed Oscar nominated British filmmaker Christopher Nolan, of Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, and The Dark Knight. Nolan previously wrote the scripts for Memento, Batman Begins, The Prestige, and The Dark Knight with his brother Jonathan Nolan. Warner Brothers is bringing Inception to theaters everywhere starting on July 16th, 2010 next summer.

"Damn Nation" Film Gets Their Hands On "Thor" Writers

Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz, who wrote "Thor" for Marvel, have come aboard to pen "Damn Nation," a futuristic vampire project lurking at Paramount.

Dark Horse Entertainment's Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg are producing the adaptation, which is based on a comic by Andrew Cosby and art by Jason Alexander (not the "Seinfeld" actor.) Michael Aguilar and Dean Georgaris are also producing.

Set in a U.S. evacuated after an attack from "inhuman nocturnal predators," the comic tells the tale of the survivors after the government has been forced to relocate to London while scientists search for a solution.

Cosby and his Boom! Studios partner Ross Richie are exec producing.

Mel Gibson To Take A Summer Vacation

Mel Gibson To Take A Summer Vacation

Mel Gibson has set up his next starring vehicle, which reassembles the key members of his "Apocalypto" team.

Gibson will topline the action drama "How I Spent My Summer Vacation," based on a screenplay he penned. News surfaced a few days after Gibson committed to directing Leonardo DiCaprio in a pic about Viking culture.

"Summer Vacation" centers on a career criminal who gets caught by Mexican authorities and is sent to a drug- and crime-filled prison, where he learns how to survive with the help of a 9-year-old boy.

Gibson has written only two other screenplays in his career: "Apocalypto" and "The Passion of the Christ," both of which he directed. Though "Summer Vacation" would seem a natural fit for Gibson to helm, he is passing the torch to his protege Adrian Grunberg, who was first a.d. on "Apocalypto." Stacy Perskie, who was second a.d. on the Mayan thriller, will produce "Summer Vacation."

Gibson’s Icon Prods., which financed "Apocalypto," is putting up the coin for "Summer Vacation." Gibson has been quietly scouting locations south of the border for nearly a year and will start shooting the pic in March in San Diego and Mexico’s Veracruz state, which provided the backdrop for "Apocalypto."

Frank Miller's Gearing Up For Prequel To "300"

Frank Miller's Gearing Up For Prequel To "300"

Hidden in the article from the La Times I found some juicy news about the prequel to the film "300"

The Zack Snyder film, the highest-grossing March release ever, was based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel about King Leonidas and his doomed army of Spartans; Miller is preparing a follow-up now titled “Xerxes,” which begins about 10 years before the events of “300,” and Snyder has expressed interest in it as a film property as well. “It’s the battle of Marathon through my lens,” Miller said Wednesday. “I’ve finished the plot and I’m getting started on the artwork.”

Miller said he is not surprised Greece is resurgent in Hollywood. “Every generation returns to ancient Greece because, well, the stories are so damn good,” said the artist, who also directed last year’s “The Spirit.” Miller said that during his research trips to Greece he realized that the myth and history overlap begins to blur, which adds to the storytelling allure. “The fact and the myth are inseparable and, believe me, when you go sailing for a while in the Aegean Sea, you start believing in Poseidon.”

Sam Worthington As Captain America?

Sam Worthington As Captain America?

First off I know that he is from Australia and not America, How dare I suggest him for the role of an American hero.

I could care less where he is from.

I for one wouldn't mind seeing him play the Iconic Role Steve Rogers (Captain America)

I am a huge fan of the Captain America comic books and have become a huge fan of Sam Worthington. When I first saw him in "Rogue" Yes it was a Bad movie, well really bad but I thought he did a great job in the film for what is was worth. Then next came Terminator-Salvation, which he as the best part of the film.

Cameron's sci-fi epic movie, he was wearing a very nice stylized T-shirt featuring Marvel superhero Captain America on it. The very act of wearing that shirt sparked rumors that he was angling for the role of Steve Rogers in The First Avenger: Captain America, one of the films Marvel is producing leading up to an Avengers movie.

Worthington laughed when asked about it.

"I know, the bloggers are going bananas," the affable Australian said. "I'm a fan, man. I'm a big fan. And I've always said, if you're going to wear a shirt on a blog or the TV, wear something you're interested in. I'm not a billboard, so I'm going to wear something that I'm intrigued by. I'm a big Captain America fan."

Such a nice guy, so disingenuous.

Has he talked with anyone producing the movie, or have they approached him?

"No, no, they haven't talked to me," Worthington said.

Worthington said. "I read it all. But you know, It's just as I said, I'm just a fan."

But does he want the role?

"I know how to hold a shield," Worthington—who also stars in the upcoming Clash of the Titans—says with a smile. "Because I did it as Perseus."

Sundance Equipped For Kristen Stewart Mania ?

Sundance Equipped For Kristen Stewart Mania ?

Looks like she will be taking over Park City,Utah In 2010.

And is Sundance ready for it?

She will be having two of her films screening at the annual event this year.

The first film look really interesting and has got me wanting to know more about the film.

The film is called Welcome to the Rileys.

Trauma transforms us. Years after their teenage daughter’s death, Lois and Doug Riley, an upstanding Indiana couple, are frozen by estranging grief. She isolates herself in their immaculate suburban home. He philanders with a local waitress, anesthetizing pain with easy passion. When he loses his mistress to cancer, Doug, beset by further heartache, escapes to New Orleans on a business trip. Compelled by urgencies he doesn’t understand, he insinuates himself into the life of an underage hooker, becoming her platonic guardian. Meanwhile, Lois summons all of her remaining force to overcome agoraphobia and venture south to reclaim her marriage.

Exacting performances from three consummate actors (James Gandolfini, Melissa Leo, and Kristen Stewart) infuse this emotionally raw, gently humorous drama with penetrating humanity. Director Jake Scott’s debut refuses to flinch from uncomfortable moments or tie neat bows around its characters. Instead, it reveals how taking risks and leaving our comfort zone can become a profound path to healing the human heart.

For more info on this film Here

Her second film will be Runaways,

Of all the bands to come out of the 1970s Los Angeles music scene, The Runaways are by far the most uniquely fascinating. This is partially due to their music but more so to the fact that they were teenage girls whose wild and reckless lifestyle was the stuff of legend.

Focusing on the duo of guitarist/vocalist Joan Jett and lead vocalist Cherie Currie as they navigate a rocky road of touring and record-label woes, the film chronicles the band's formation as well as their meteoric rise under the malevolent eye of an abusive manager.

Acclaimed video artist Floria Sigismondi directs from her own script, and her luscious camerawork captures every sweaty detail—from the filthy trailer where the women practice to the mosh pits of Tokyo. What really makes the film cook are the sizzling performances by Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart. Not to be missed, The Runaways is an ode to an era and a groundbreaking band.

If you would like to watch either of the films you will have to travel to Sundance, and get your tickets now by going here
