Casino Jack Full-length Trailer & Clip

Official Full-length Trailer & Clip

In anticipation of ATO Pictures’ release of CASINO JACK on December 29th, 2010, I’m pleased to share the brand new full-length trailer, along with the first clip from the film. The whip-smart new comedy about a man who resorts to awe–inspiring fraudulent antics stars two–time Academy Award® winner Kevin Spacey and is directed by George Hickenlooper

Two-time Academy Award Winner Kevin Spacey gives the performance of a lifetime in CASINO JACK, a riotous new film starring Spacey as a man hell bent on acquiring all that the good life has to offer. He plays in the same game as the highest of rollers and resorts to awe-inspiring levels of conning, scheming and fraudulent antics to get what he wants.

Inspired by true events that are too over-the-top for even the wildest imaginations to conjure, CASINO JACK lays bare the wild excesses and escapades of Jack Abramoff. Aided by his business partner Michael Scanlon (Barry Pepper), Jack parlays his clout over some of the world's most powerful men with the goal of creating a personal empire of wealth and influence. When the two enlist a mob-connected buddy (Jon Lovitz) to help with one of their illegal schemes, they soon find themselves in over their heads, entrenched in a world of mafia assassins, murder and a scandal that spins so out of control that it makes worldwide headlines.

Watch the trailer after the Jump..

Show Me The Money-

The real Jack Abramoff served three and one half years of a six-year sentence in federal prison, and is now assigned to a halfway house. He is scheduled to be released on December 4, 2010. Abramoff was a top lobbyist for the Preston Gates & Ellis and Greenberg Traurig firms and a director of the National Center for Public Policy Research, a conservative think tank, and Toward Tradition. He was College Republican National Committee National Chairman from 1981 to 1985. He was a founding member of the International Freedom Foundation.

Directed by George Hickenlooper (FACTORY GIRL, THE MAN FROM ELYSIAN FIELDS), CASINO JACK returns Spacey to the type of role that made him famous – a cool-headed, articulate snake charmer whose wild ambitions knows no limits or boundaries. The film also stars Kelly Preston and Rachelle Lefevre and is produced by Gary Howsam, Bill Marks and George Vitetzakis from an original screenplay by Norman Snider. Executive Producers are Richard Rionda Del Castro, Lewin Webb, Donald Zuckerman, Dana Brunetti, Patricia Eberle, Warren Nimchuk, Angelo Paletta and Domenic Serafino. The Associate Producer is Rick Chad.

Depp Wants Marshall To Direct "The Thin Man" Remake

Depp Wants Marshall To Direct "The Thin Man" Remake

Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp has been aggressively courting his Pirates 4 director Rob Marshall (Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha) to direct him once again in a remake of The Thin Man at Warner Bros. It'd be a fitting follow-up to Depp's turn as the rum-soaked Captain Jack Sparrow: The famous detective novel by Dashiell Hammett centers on Nick Charles who — after marrying wealthy, young socialite Norah — gives up a career as a hard-boiled gumshoe to become a semi-professional alcoholic and full-time trophy husband.

The Thin Man certainly wasn't the Philip Marlowe of its day when it was first published in 1934 — Hammett never even wrote a sequel — but it did become a hit six-film franchise at MGM (with William Powell starring as Nick Charles and Myrna Loy playing Nora Charles) and an NBC series that ran from 1957 to 1959.

There's no script yet for the remake, but we're told that Depp is eager to play the role and has been looking to develop the property through his Warner Bros.–based Infinitum Nihil production outfit (run by his sister, Christi Dembrowski), with former WB executive turned producer Kevin McCormick also producing.

Meanwhile, we also hear that once Marshall wraps production on Pirates 4 later this year, he’ll be meeting with Universal execs and producer Marc Platt about the possibility of directing a motion picture based on Broadway's Wicked, which, unlike Thin Man, actually has a script as well as many other significant directors in contention for the gig.

Sam Raimi To Direct "The Day of the Triffids"

Sam Raimi To Direct "The Day of the Triffids"

Mandate Pictures has won the auction for The Day of the Triffids. The film will be produced by Ghost House, the partnership between Mandate, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. The deal is seven-figures and I've heard it's the most that Mandate has paid for a project package. Raimi wants to direct it; the original was one of his favorite films as a boy. Raimi and Tapert will board the producer roster, joining Michael Preger, Angry Films' Don Murphy and Susan Montford, and Mark Gordon, who previously worked with Raimi on A Simple Plan.

The rights package includes the original scifi novel by John Wyndham, which was previously used as the basis for the 1962 film. It's classic paranoid alien invasion stuff: when a shower of meteorites lights up the sky, it creates such a gorgeous sight that most earthlings can't help but look. So 99% of the population goes blind as a result, but it gets worse. The meteorites unleash Triffids, plants capable of moving around so they can better attack the blind. The rights are held were acquired over a number of years by Michael Preger, who was involved in another Wyndham novel adaptation, the John Carpenter-directed Village of the Damned. Preger is aboard to produce with Angry Films partners Don Murphy and Susan Montford, and Mark Gordon through his Mark Gordon Company. Murphy and Montford are teamed with James Cameron are producing the Guillermo del Toro-directed At the Mountains of Madness.

Hellraiser Reboot On The Way

Do We Really Need To Reboot Pinhead?

NEW DIRECTOR named. News here. We landed some huge news this weekend as we've confirmed that Christian E. Christiansen (say that ten times fast) is circling Dimension Films' big budget Hellraiser remake. But ultimately lost out to the Drive Angry team,

as did Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, who brought us the last four Saw films and The Collector.  As it was previously reported, the Victor Garcia low budget sequel, Revelations, was greenlit in order for the Weinstein Company to retain the rights (much like they did in 2005 with both Deader and Hellworld). Based on what I've heard from various people who have pitched their version of Hellraiser, the Weinsteins are looking for someone to make the franchise fitted for "teens" (super, super, super lame), thus making the director of Sony Screen Gems' The Roommate perfect for the gig. This leads beautifully into the news that the company hopes (nothing is signed) to land Amber Heard (Mandy Lane, Zombieland, The Stepfather) in the lead role.

Sandra Bullock To Reunite With The Proposal Director

Sandra Bullock To Reunite With The Proposal Director

Sandra Bullock is reuniting with the director of The Proposal, Anne Fletcher, for an untitled project.

Warner Bros. has picked up the pitch, which hails from scribes Pamela Falk and Michael Ellis. Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot of Offspring Entertainment are producing.

Bullock is attached to star, while Fletcher will direct.

Details are scarce, but the contemporary-set project is described as in the vein of the 1978 Paul Mazursky film An Unmarried Woman and Saturday Night Fever.

Bullock also will executive produce with her Fortis Films partner Maggie Biggar. Offspring's Matt Smith also is executive producing. Sarah Schechter is overseeing for Warners.

The acquisition comes as Bullock is in negotiations to star in the studio's outer space survival movie, Gravity, from director Alfonso Cuaron. Gravity is vying with Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close as her next movie.

Choreographer-turned-director Fletcher, is now developing Most Wanted, which sees her working not only with Bullock but also her Proposal co-star, Ryan Reynolds.

Offspring was behind three films this year, including The Last Song, Step Up 3D and Going the Distance.

But there are Dark Forces in their midst that threaten to tear them apart.

Meanwhile, the wizarding world has become a dangerous place for all enemies of the Dark Lord. The long-feared war has begun and Voldemort’s Death Eaters seize control of the Ministry of Magic and even Hogwarts, terrorizing and arresting anyone who might oppose them. But the one prize they still seek is the one most valuable to Voldemort: Harry Potter. The Chosen One has become the hunted one as the Death Eaters search for Harry with orders to bring him to Voldemort…alive.

Harry’s only hope is to find the Horcruxes before Voldemort finds him. But as he searches for clues, he uncovers an old and almost forgotten tale—the legend of the Deathly Hallows. And if the legend turns out to be true, it could give Voldemort the ultimate power he seeks.

Little does Harry know that his future has already been decided by his past when, on that fateful day, he became “the Boy Who Lived.” No longer just a boy, Harry Potter is drawing ever closer to the task for which he has been preparing since the day he first stepped into Hogwarts: the ultimate battle with Voldemort.

Wolverine 2 Hugh Jackman Darren Aronofsky

Wolverine 2 Will Not Be Your Regular X-Men Film

Hugh Jackman spilled the beans on his Wolverine 2,which will begin early next year, he explained, and he’s bulking up: “Expect to see four chicken breasts and a whole pile of steamed broccoli on my plate,” he told us.

"I'm starting; I’m having my six meals a day." With Darren Aronofsky directing, he says that Wolverine 2 will not be a "usual" X-Men movie: "This is, hopefully for me, going to be out of the box. It’s going to be the best one, I hope," he said, and then paused. "Well, I would say that, but I really do feel that, and I feel this is going to be very different."

Also, Jackman doesn’t think that Aronofsky’s penchant for dark drama is at odds with the big-budget action franchise. "This is Wolverine. This is not Popeye. He’s kind of dark," Jackman said. "But, you know, this is a change of pace. Chris McQuarrie, who wrote The Usual Suspects, has written the script, so that’ll give you a good clue. [Aronofsky’s] going to make it fantastic. There’s going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.”

Mark Zuckerberg Reacts To The Social Network

'The Social Network' Got His Clothing Exactly Right

So what does the founder of Facebook think of the film The Social Network. He has been pretty silent about the film and the accuracy of the film.  But he is finally speaking about about the movie. Zuckerberg admitted to an audience at a start-up conference that he did, in fact, check out the David Fincher film. How did he feel about a movie that will forever paint him as a woman-hating, status-obsessed creep? Kinda charitable, actually!

Mark Zuckerberg says 'The Social Network' got his clothing exactly right
Read the story after the Jump..

Zuckerberg is asked about the film's accuracy:

"I mean, where do you want to start? I don't know. It's interesting what stuff they focused on getting right; like, every single shirt and fleece that I had in that movie is actually a shirt or fleece that I own. So there's all this stuff that they got wrong and a bunch of random details that they got right. The thing that I think is most thematically interesting that they got wrong is the whole framing of the movie. The way that it starts is that I'm with this girl who doesn't exist in real life who dumps me — which has happened in real life a lot — and basically, they frame it as if the whole reason for making Facebook and building something was because I wanted to get girls or I wanted to get into some sort of social institution. The reality for people who know me is I've actually been dating the same girl since before I started Facebook, so obviously that's not a part of it, but I think it's just such a big disconnect from the way that the people who make movies think about what we do in Silicon Valley, building stuff. They just can't wrap their head around the idea that someone might build something because they like building things."

Except that Fincher is exactly same way! How soon can we sit these two down for coffee, Adderall, and some Xbox Live to grow what could be a beautiful friendship?

Green Lantern Coaster On It's Way

Magic Mountain Regains Title

Six Flags Magic Mountain will reclaim the Roller Coaster Capital of the World title with the addition of two coasters in spring 2011, including a first-of-its-kind ride in the U.S., amusement park officials said.

The Green Lantern will bring Magic Mountain's coaster count to 18, allowing the Valencia amusement park to recapture the coaster crown, taken by Ohio’s Cedar Point in 2008. Magic Mountain snatched the crown from Cedar Point around the turn of the millennium after adding a coaster a year during a building binge that stretched from 1997 to 2003. Cedar Point, with 17 coasters, plans to add a tower swing thrill ride in 2011.

Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey will also add a stand-up coaster called Green Lantern in 2011, relocated from a shuttered park in Kentucky. The debut of both themed coasters will coincide with the 2011 release of the "Green Lantern" movie based on the DC Comics superhero with otherworldly powers.

The Green Lantern vertical coaster, with green zigzag track and black supports, will sit on a compact footprint near the Batman and Riddler’s Revenge coasters. The new-concept 4th dimension coaster, similar in style to X2 but more tame, will reach a top speed of 37 mph over 825 feet of serpentine track during the two-minute ride. (Watch concept video of the Green Lantern at Screamscape.)

Watch the video after the Jump..

The Intamin ZacSpin coaster will be the first of its kind in the U.S. The Grona Lund theme park in Stockholm added an identical ZacSpin called Insane last year, with smaller versions of the ride also operating in Spain and Finland.

Coaster enthusiasts who have ridden the European ZacSpins invariably describe the experience as fun, intense and weird but gripe about capacity issues.

Upon boarding a train that straddles the track, eight riders per car face in two directions, forward and backward. A chain lift carries each car up an inverted curved section to a height of 107 feet. From there, the suspended trains rock back and forth on the straight-aways and rotate head over heels as the cars plunge over freefall drops.

Disney To Distribute Marvel's 'The Avengers,' 'Iron Man 3'

The Mouse Gets His Hands On “The Avengers” & “Iron Man 3”

Paramount sources say the studio stands to profit handsomely from its deal to shift marketing and distribution of Marvel’s 2012 tentpole “The Avengers” and still-unslotted “Iron Man 3” to Disney, which acquired the comic-book company last year.

Paramount will receive distribution fees for both films with a guaranteed minimum of $115 million regardless of how the films perform.

Paramount insiders say the studio will receive its usual 8 percent distribution fee for “The Avengers” and an increase to 9 percent for the third “Iron Man.” Disney quickly announced a release date of May 3, 2013 for “Iron Man 3.”

The deal gives Disney -- which has faltered at the box office recently -- a chance to benefit from its acquisition of Marvel.

Paramount views the deal as an opportunity “to do no work on ‘Iron Man 3’ and ‘Avengers’ ” and still make more money on the films, according to a source.

That source said Paramount has made $300 million from its Marvel relationship so far. It was studio chief Brad Grey’s first major move, he added, and has now served its purpose of filling the pipeline as the regime readied such other projects as “Star Trek,” its re-launches of the “Mission:Impossible” series and the Jack Ryan series, which are in progress.

The studio will retain distribution rights to Marvel properties “Thor” and “Captain America.”

Disney will pay Paramount the $115 million on the pics’ release dates and it will serve as “a minimum guarantee against the distribution fees,” the studios said.

Mel Gibson Cameo In "The Hangover 2"

Could This Change His Image?

The troubled star, who was dropped by the William Morris Endeavor agency in July and has also faced allegations that he assaulted and made threats against his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, has signed to play a Bangkok tattooist in the highly anticipated comedy.

"It's a done deal. Mel will make a cameo as a tattoo artist. Filming is taking place on the Warner Bros. lot, where a Bangkok set has been built, and Mel is expected to film his role in two weeks. Then the production moves to Thailand at the end of October."

The sequel to the wildly successful 2009 "The Hangover" will follow the gang, played by Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zack Galifianakis and Justin Bartha, as they take a boys' trip to Thailand with a dangerous stop in Bangkok. Asian gangster Mr. Chow, played by Ken Jeong, will also return.

It is not known if Gibson's "Hangover 2" character will reference his current real-life problems. But the original movie did much to reinvent Mike Tyson's image from a troubled drug user into a comedic actor.

Megan Fox Joins "Friends With Kids"

Megan Fox  Joins "Friends With Kids"

Megan Fox is joining "Friends With Kids," an ensemble comedy from Jennifer Westfeldt.

Westfeldt wrote the script and will star as well as produce with her partner Jon Hamm. She also will direct, with a hand from Mike Nichols and Jake Kasdan, who are executive producing.

The project already has cast Adam Scott and Kristen Wiig for the story, which revolves around a pair of thirtysomething best friends who observe the toll that having kids has taken on the couples they know and resolve to bypass that stress by having a child and then date other people.

Scott and Westfeldt will play the lead couple; Wiig and Hamm will play another. A third couple has not been cast.

Fox will play a girl who Scott begins to date.

"It's a very literate script and when Jen met with her, she thought Megan was spot on. When (Fox) picks the right part, she has tremendous value," said Cinetic Media's John Sloss, who is handling sales.

The movie will be released theatrically in April.

"Jen wrote one of the funniest and most original scripts I've read in a long time, the rare great generational character comedy," Kasdan said.

Green Lantern's Power Lantern Revealed

Let's Hope He Has A Charger

This ain't your everyday Coleman campsite lantern. It's the space battery that will power Ryan Reynold's in the upcoming Green Lantern film, and it has been unleashed to the world.

Here's Alittle History on the Oan power lantern.

Oan Energy Conduit: The rings use Oan energy (supplied by a Green Lantern Power Battery.) Power Batteries are constantly charged by the Central Power Battery to manually fuel about 7200 individual Green Lantern Rings. With few exceptions, the Power Ring was limited to a 24-hour charge and needed to be recharged at the Power Battery on a daily basis. However, that limit has been removed, meaning a Lantern is only obligated to recharge their ring when the power levels are depleted or gone. The amount of energy in a ring is measured by the ring, and relayed to the Lantern via a percentage scale of 0% - 100%.

When Abin Sur died, his Power Battery and Power Ring were passed onto the Human known as Hal Jordan. As he was growing accustomed to becoming a Green Lantern, Jordan used to store his Power Battery in a locker.

Come and see the picture after the Jump..

Warner Brothers can't be thrilled that this image hit the net today, given that they went out of their way to make a big splash with the lantern at Spike TV's Scream awards, which taped over the weekend and will air on 10/19. Ryan Reynolds took to the stage in the shadow of the new power lantern to accept the Most Anticipated Movie award on behalf of Green Lantern ... because movies don't have hands.

Contraband To Star Wahlberg & Beckinsale

Contraband To Star Mark Wahlberg & Kate Beckinsale

Universal will bring us Contraband, the English language remake of the 2008 Icelandic film Reykjavic-Rotterdam. Mark Wahlberg is set to star, Kate Beckinsale is negotiating, and Baltasar Kormakur is set to direct. Kormakur starred in, produced and co-wrote the original.

Oskar Jonasson directed the original, in which Kormakur played a former smuggler trying to go straight as a night guard. When his wife’s brother (who got him the job) botches a smuggling run, his life threatened and the protagonist is dragged in for one more job. Universal, originally intended to finance the film, then passed when the budget came in at $40 million. Relativity Media stepped in, but encouraged the filmmakers to try bringing down the cost. The filmmakers brought the budget down to around $30 million. A $30 million drama with Wahlberg and Beckinsale is a package any studio would jump at. When Relativity blinked, Universal swooped back in.

The international teaser trailer for Paul is here, it's not the same trailer that they previewed at Comic-Con this year.

The film stars Simon Pegg,Nick Frost,Seth Rogen and Jason Bateman. Scene from the movie were filmed at the Albuquerque Convention Center, which was designed to look like the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con. After obtaining permission to use the Comic-Con brand, the settings had to be changed to avoid crowds and extras were used to portray attendees.

Watch the trailer after the Jump.

Pegg and Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) play two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever.

For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul (voiced by Rogen) has been hanging out at a top-secret military base. For reasons unknown, the space-traveling smart ass decides to escape the compound and hop on the first vehicle out of town — a rented RV containing Earthlings Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Collings (Frost).

Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. And as two nerds struggle to help, one little green man might just take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes.

Paul opens March 18th, 2011
