Story by Matt Cummings The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 topped a long Thanksgiving weekend box office which saw yet another disastrous opening for a newcomer live action and disappointing numbers for an animated film. With all of this negativity spreading into December, it's time to start asking what will bring out audiences without the title Star Wars: The Force Awakens . Repeating at the top spot is Mockingjay Part 2 took in an estimated $51.6m, dropping only 49.7%. It's still playing far behind its predecessors, but is still making good money overseas, having crossed the $440m threshold. In second place is Pixar's The Good Dinosaur , earning $39.19m over the three-day weekend. That number is the worst for Pixar since A Bug's Life and 1995's original Toy Story . Through the big eyes of a little boy, director Sanjay Patel has animated his journey from a California kid watching cartoons to a man respecting his father's Indian traditions. USA Today scored the first image from the short which will be premiering in front of The Good Dinosaur (in theaters Nov. 25), the Disney/Pixar short film Sanjay's Super Team begins with a scene similar to Patel's own San Bernardino upbringing. Warner Bros. is already planning for the holidays. By Brandon Wolfe Warner Bros. has shuffled its schedule today, announcing that it is moving its (again, brutally pointless) remake of Point Break from summer to the very un-surfer-friendly date of Christmas Day. This move is not surprising, as the remake's original July 31 turf was recently encroached upon by the far more heavily anticipated Mission: Impossible 5 . Still, scuttling the film to Christmas feels like a peculiar move for such a summery property. Point Break will now square off against the latest Alvin and the Chipmunks squeakquel, the Will Smith drama Concussion and Paramount's Monster Trucks . WB has also set a Thanksgiving release date for Creed , the spin-off of the undying Rocky franchise, starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone.
