Pee-wee Herman Back To HBO

Pee-wee To Make His Return Home On Tuesday HBO said it would shoot the Broadway production of “The Pee-wee Herman Show,” which stars Paul Reubens as that impish man-child of its title, for a special to be shown next year. Pee-wee historians – and you know who you are – may recall that HBO previously broadcast a “Pee-wee Herman Show” special in 1981, taped at the Roxy Theater in Los Angeles. That show, which Mr. Reubens and his colleagues at the Groundlings comedy theater began performing in 1980, would go on to form the basis of the “Pee-wee Herman Show” currently being presented at the Stephen Sondheim Theater on Broadway. HBO said it would tape its new “Pee-wee” special immediately after the show’s Broadway run ends on Jan. 2; a broadcast date wasn’t announced. Here’s what Nancy Geller, senior vice president of HBO Original Programming, said in a press release. Before his hit series and movies, HBO introduced Paul Reubens’ Pee-wee Herman to a national audience in the ‘Young Co

Apatow will produce through his Apatow Prods. banner, though he will not helm the project. Pic is described as featuring the iconic geek -- known for his love of toys and nerdy catchphrases like "I know you are, but what am I?" -- in a road pic built around "a gigantic adventure." "Let's face it, the world needs more Pee-wee Herman,"  "I am so excited to be working with Paul Reubens -- who is an extraordinary and ground-breaking actor and writer. It's so great to watch him return with such relevance." The partnership came about after Apatow saw Reubens' recent "Pee-wee Herman Show" revival at the Nokia Theater, where it played to packed houses in January and February. The

Alex Timbers, who helmed the Los Angeles run, will again direct. The Broadway run was announced on May 20. Tickets go on sale June 1 at Telecharge.com. Paul Reubens Talks Pee Wee Movie And Star Wars

Paul Reubens Talks Pee Wee Movie And Star Wars Paul Reubens is in the mist of a comeback to the stage and big screen. I was never a fan of Pee Wee's Playhouse, the fact that I lived in Japan during the time the show was on air. Could be one of the reasons. I did love his role in Cheech & Chong's Next Movie . Classic. Reubens has been on a roller coaster ride with his career, but who doesn't love a comeback story? After 18 or so years, he's back. The Pee Wee Show is a live stage show now playing at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. It's a stage version of his Playhouse television program and it is absolutely fantastic. It really was a lot of fun. After the show, Paul had a little Q&A and was asked if he was going to make another movie. We all knew he had plans to make a Pee Wee's Playhouse film, but details were sort of scarce. Tonight he went into more detail about the plot of the movie. The movie, we never left the Playhouse. You never saw Puppet Land. I mea
