MAN OF STEEL Teaser Trailers Are Here

We have the first two teaser trailer for MAN OF STEEL, starring Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent and Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy.

In the first trailer we get a voice over by Russell Crowe and then second one a voice over by Kevin Costner.

I really wish they showed more footage but I guess this is what you get from a teaser trailer. A tease from the upcoming film.

Clark Kent is a journalist in his twenties who was adopted as a child by Martha and Jonathan Kent after he was transported to Earth from the dying planet Krypton. Raised with the values of his adoptive parents, he feels alienated because of his unique super abilities and struggles to find his place in life. When the world is attacked, he becomes the hero Superman to protect its people.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Movie Review By: MattInRC

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Movie Review
By: MattInRC

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES delivers a final, resounding end to the trilogy, but it's not without its faults.

 WARNING: Major spoilers ahead.

It would be impossible to write a review of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES without admitting that the series has fundamentally changed the way we watch, anticipate, and market films. If you doubt this, notice the change at your local IMAX theatre, or consider that the Oscar Nominating Committee expanded its lineup of Best Picture candidates after The Dark Knight got snubbed. The effect of TDK is pronounced, but its shadow might be even greater. Perhaps no follow-up could match the performance of the late Heath Ledger as The Joker; but, Christopher Nolan (Inception, Memento) has bravely re-entered with a follow-up, almost challenging us to hate on it or at least sneer loudly. So, does the film live up to expectations, tying off any loose ends, while at the same break every record established by the Übermensch Avengers?

The answer is....yes and no. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES does end the series in a fitting manner, while at the same time providing suitable spectacle to impress most fans. Yet, the story is long, leaves several plot holes unresolved, and fails to include a performance equal to Ledger's. It's been 8 years since the events of The Dark Knight, and billionaire Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale, The Prestige) is out of the superhero game, confined to a crutch and sporting a goatee. It's not that recent injures have sidelined Bats: he literally hasn't donned the cowl since the death of Harvey Dent/Two Face. Instead, Wayne broods in his home like a comic book Howard Hughes, while his company is mismanaged to the edge of bankruptcy. Yet, the streets of Gotham are safer than they've ever been, thanks to the passage of The Harvey Dent Act, a Patriot Act-like legislation that has effectively curtailed all gang activity. This law is based on the public's inaccurate knowledge of Dent's death and Batman's role in it, but Wayne is somehow content to hang up his alter-ego for a safer Gotham. However, the appearance of the cunning thief Catwoman/Selena Kyle (Anne Hathaway, The Devil Wears Prada) ushers in a far more lethal opponent living deep under Gotham's streets: Bane (Tom Hardy, Inception), a ruthless and powerful terrorist who plans on using Wayne Enterprises tech to undo everything Batman has stood for. This stirs the emotions of Wayne's butler Alfred (Michael Cane, The Cider House Rules), who worries that Batman's re-emergence to tackle both enemies will not end in success. How right could he have been: Batman's meeting with Bane is a disaster, leaving The Dark Knight defeated, unmasked, and his back literally broken by the Spanish brute. It's a tough scene to watch, but like Balboa in Rocky 3, Wayne must re-invent himself before Gotham literally burns in fire. It's Bane's plan to destroy Gotham using a nuclear weapon, fulfilling the mission of The League of Shadows (the terrorist group Wayne belonged to before becoming Batman); to do that, he'll stage an elaborate ruse in which all of Gotham's criminals locked up under the Dent Act will be set free to terrorize and 'judge' Gotham's elite in a kind of kangaroo court. While Wayne recuperates in a water well-like Spanish prison and learns more about his enemy, Bane cuts off all contact between Gotham and the outside world, destroying bridges and using Wayne Enterprises tech to terrorize the streets. Together with Lucious Fox (Morgan Freeman, The Shawshank Redemption), the thief Kyle, Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman, The Fifth Element), and the rookie cop John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Inception), Batman must defeat Bane by any means necessary, including the ultimate sacrifice if necessary.

You have to give Nolan credit not only for directing a good-looking, gritty, superhero epic, but for shooting most of it in IMAX. The big screen feel is certainly there, and at our IMAX screening, the clarity and depth of field were extraordinary. If there's one film to see this year in this format, it's definitelyRises. Moreover, spend the extra cash to see it in a true IMAX theatre, and not in a diet version (those screens which are half the size of a real IMAX). If Nolan's visuals are stunning, other pieces are simply not as strong. While Christian Bale is consistently good as the dark hero (and in my mind represents the best of the movie versions), and performances by Freeman and Oldman are enjoyable, it's the lack of a bad guy on the order of the maniacal, diabolical, and eminently more enjoyable Joker that ultimately reduces the product. True, Bane could have snapped Joker in two had they appeared together, but Hardy's mask is simply a hindrance to any abilities Hardy could have expressed. His sometimes incoherent ramblings, as well as the lack of explanation as to the source of his strength, become more maddening as the film progresses. His defeat is also not as rewarding as I would have liked. Trust me, it's pretty fun but not on par with other deaths Nolan has dreamed up. Marion Cottliard (La Vie en Rose) is only serviceable as Bruce Wayne's love interest Miranda Tate, although fans might appreciate a surprising change that she undergoes late in the film. Wayne's 8-year vacation is never explained, leading some to wonder why Nolan chose such a random time to re-enter the storyline. Caine, who literally disappears after Act I, only coming up for air late in the third act, creates a plot hole so large you could drive Bats' Tumbler through it. Hans Zimmer's dark and brooding soundtrack matches up well with Nolan's visceral vision of a city gone mad, but (like the overall feel of the film) there's nothing better about it than previous Batman soundtracks he's composed. Frankly, his epic POTC, MI:II, and Batman Begins soundtracks are far better.

Thankfully, other parts of TDKR, such as the performances of Hathaway and Levitt, help rescue it from the abyss. For Hathaway, it's the tight-fitting outfit and stiletto boots that will bring in the guys, but it's her wit and physicality that will win them over. Hathaway plays the toughest role in Rises, a character who operates under a shifting moral ladder of lies and deceptions but doesn't realize Bane's ultimate plan until it's almost too late. She's in way over her head, and it's this internal struggle that's more satisfying than any other element of the film, allowing us to enjoy Hathway's growth from her Princess Diaries days. Her ability to at once manipulate Batman then turn on the charm allows her to steal most scenes in which she appears, ending any concerns about her look or performance in the trailers. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's tough hero cop/compassionate protector is a welcomed dichotomy to Hathaway as he takes on the somewhat obscure comic role of Blake with a simple and strong performance. His appearance provides needed breaks for our central characters and actually helps to prop things up in Act II. I hope audiences will like Blake's resolution at film's end, but it's Levitt's young looks and smart, tough attitude that helps save Rises from getting hopelessly lost.

It's suggested that you refrain from buttery popcorn and soda, as Rises's mammoth 164-minute runtime would dare even Bane's bladder to behave. However, if the pull of sugary heaven is cause to break away, there are some slow moments in Act 2 which allow you some respite. It's not that Rises is too long, but...yeah...it's too long.

Fans will no doubt compare the spectacle of The Dark Knight Rises with that of The Avengers; and while that's fair, I would also throw in all the superhero movies that have been released since Hulk. In taking this approach, TDKR scores far below Avengers, lodging itself between its Batman brethren and The Incredible Hulk (with IM, Thor, Cap above them). Whether it will ever grow to supersede TDK is highly doubtful; and while that's not a powerful endorsement for the film, it doesn't mean you ought to skip it. For all its faults, The Dark Knight Rises is a fitting end to the trilogy, proving that a gritty, urban Batman can reach a mass audience, even if its final installment is a letdown.

Noah Wyle & Will Patton Falling Skies Comic-Con Interviews

Noah Wyle & Will Patton Falling Skies Comic-Con Interviews
By: John Meneghetti

We had the pleasure of covering the Falling Skies junket at Comic-Con this year. Falling Skies is an American science fiction dramatic television series created by Robert Rodat and produced by Steven Spielberg. Set six months into a world devastated by an alien invasion, the series stars Noah Wyle as Tom Mason, a former Boston University history professor who becomes the second-in-command of the 2nd Massachusetts Militia Regiment, a group of civilians and fighters fleeing post-apocalyptic Boston.
The series is broadcast in the United States on the cable channel TNT, and is a production of DreamWorks Television.

First up we talked to Noah Wyle as Tom Mason, a former Boston University history professor who becomes the second-in-command of the 2nd Massachusetts, a roughly 300 strong group of civilians and fighters fleeing post-apocalyptic Boston. He has three sons: Hal, the oldest, Ben, the middle child who was taken by the Skitters, and Matt, the youngest. His wife died a short time after the invasion while gathering supplies. He is good friends with Anne Glass, and also shares some of her views on the rights of civilians.

And Will Patton as Captain Dan Weaver, the commander of the 2nd Mass. Weaver is a retired active and reserve military officer, who served with Porter during the Gulf War. He does not like that the 2nd Mass includes so many civilians, and this is a point on which he and Anne often clash. He tried to save his family when the Skitters came, but he was not fast enough. He tells Tom that if his kids were still alive he would do anything to find them. It is revealed in the episode "Grace" that Weaver was a religious man but that he lost faith when the Skitters came. This is shown when Lourdes is reciting a prayer: Weaver is whispering it to himself as well. He also seems to have a paternal affection for the young soldier Jimmy Boland as shown when he comforts him in "Sanctuary Part 1". He later discovers it is possible that his wife and eldest daughter are still alive

Taraji Henson & Chapman PERSON OF INTEREST Comic Con Interview

Taraji Henson & Chapman PERSON OF INTEREST Interview
By: Beevers
SandwichJohnFilms had the chance to attend the press junket for the hit TV show PERSON OF INTEREST at Comic-Con 2012. Being that this is MattInRC's favorite, it's only fitting that he sat down with the cast while I stood back and let him do his thing.

If you’re a fan of the show (and frankly who isn’t), you know the season finale featured several unexpected turns that left our heroes separated and Reese turning to an unlikely ally for help. Stars Michael Emerson (Finch), Jim Caveizel (Reese), Taraji Henson (Carter) and Kevin Chapman (Fusco) joined series creator Jonathan Nolan and producer Greg Plageman to discuss the show and its unique premise.

Next up we sat down with Detective Joss Carter (Taraji P. Henson): A NYPD detective and a single mother with a teenaged son, Taylor. Carter is a former U.S. Army interrogator who passed the bar in 2004, but gave up practicing the law to return to police work. Carter first crosses paths with Reese following his encounter with a group of young men on a New York subway, but knew him principally as a mysterious man in a suit. Carter is initially determined to apprehend Reese, but eventually forms an alliance with him and Finch. She is unaware of the Machine's existence. And Detective Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman): A corrupt cop Reese blackmails into being a source inside the police department. Finch later arranges for Fusco to be transferred so that he works with Carter. Over time, Fusco becomes increasingly loyal to Finch and Reese.

Taraji Henson
On her character Detective Carter: “She feels that deep down what they’re doing is morally right. That’s why she is on board.”
On operating ‘heavy ordinance’ every week: “I love it. I like that. They train us as we go, because you never know what kind of weapon they’re gonna put in your hand that week. Every week is different!”
On shooting in New York City: “It’s very guerilla style. They throw you in the street, they throw the cameras up and they use all the people. That threw me off my rhythm a little bit but I’m more used to it now.”

Kevin Chapman
On Detective Fusco: “Fusco is kinda of an anti-hero. The character is never really defined. Reese allowed him to return to come back to the self-heroic image of himself that he once had. It’s been nice to see that sense of duality in the character. You’re not sure if he’s a good guy doing bad things or a bad guy doing good things. What I really enjoy is whether he is a good guy or bad guy they leave it up to the viewership. It’s up for the viewer to determine whether they like him or not.”

Jumanji Reboot Could Be On It's Way

If there’s one thing that studios like more than anything at the moment, it’s to go digging into their back catalogues and dust off old properties to reboot. Take Sony, for example. Buried in a long interview with Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad is a small mention about wanting to make a new version of Jumanji.

You might recall the 1996 original, featuring Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce as two kids who decide to play an old board game they find. Unbeknownst to them, it’s a magical item that can trap the unwary, and the two sprogs release Alan Parrish (Robin Williams), who had been sealed within the game’s jungle realm for years. But though he’s glad to be out, the kids’ actions also release a lot of other chaos into the world.

With Joe Johnston calling the shots, a lot was made of the film’s CG critters, which were certainly impressive at the time. Now, of course, the studio is looking to shake things up. “We're going to try and reimagine Jumanji and update it for the present,” says Belgrad. But given that no writer or director is attached – or has been announced – yet, we’re guessing it’ll be a while yet.

While we’re on the subject of Sony developments in Belgrad's interview, he also mentions that the studio wants the 21 Jump Street sequel shooting before the year is out, and is already working on putting together another Men In Black film. Everyone try to look surprised!

Chris Hemsworth Could Land Robopocalypse

This is one of the most coveted roles in Hollywood. And now, after critic- and fan-lauded star turns in Thor, The Avengers, and Snow White And The Huntsman, Chris Hemsworth will be working with Steven Spielberg. Deadline is reporting that Spielberg met and now wants Hemsworth in his next helming effort Robopocalypse, the big technothriller which is sure to become the director’s next big global popcorn film. The Disney-Fox-DreamWorks’ actioner is releasing worldwide on April 25, 2014. (That’s the same weekend that Marvel’s The Avengers was released internationally this year. Disney distributes Robopocalypse domestically, Fox overseas.)

The script based on the Daniel H. Wilson epic novel about the human race’s attempt to survive an apocalyptic robot uprising was most recently adapted by hot screenwriter Kario Salem, who has been rewriting Drew Goddard. Robopocalypse puts Spielberg back into the large-scale terrain that is important in his relationship with Reliance. Now Hemsworth would be Spielberg’s first casting on the film. (There’s no official offer on the table yet). It puts the hot Aussie hunk near the top of the list of Hollywood’s bankable action stars. Now that Thor opened strongly around the world, and Thor 2 is in the works, and Snow White And The Huntsman has earned $372.8M worldwide so far, its star and his good looks can showcase even more of his acting ability under Spielberg’s authority. (But his presence may also drum up appeal for the movie among women with a shirtless clip or two…)

Hemsworth’s journey into a movie leading man is the stuff of Hollywood legend. Ward talent-spotted Chris during one of the manager’s many scouting trips to Australia. Ward brought him to Los Angeles and really put him out there to casting directors and production executives. Chris read for the part of Thor but wasn’t given a test because a casting director had nixed him early on. Chris’ younger brother Liam (who’s also a ROAR client) then tested for the role of Thor, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige passed. Then, after a conversation with Ward (“You’ve got to reconsider Chris, he’s your guy”), Feige decided to let Chris read again. And once Marvel put him on tape, it was “Oh my god!”. Hemsworth also was in Joss Whedon’s Cabin In The Woods and J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot.

But Robopocalypse is so big, it needed two studios – or so Hollywood joked - so DreamWorks and Fox did a deal to co-finance the pic. Deadline broke the story that Spielberg was eyeing the novel as a directing vehicle before he chose War Horse as his first film under DreamWorks 2.0′s financial deal with Reliance and distribution deal at Disney. Deadline also revealed first that Spielberg had committed to direct it. At that time, the novel wasn’t finished, but Spielberg was so excited about the book that it was already being storyboarded and designed as Wilson was turning in pages and Goddard was translating them into the screenplay. Doubleday published the book in June.

Jonathan Nolan Interview PERSON OF INTEREST At Comic Con 2012

SandwichJohnFilms had the chance to attend the press junket for the hit TV show PERSON OF INTEREST at Comic-Con 2012. Being that this is MattInRC's favorite, it's only fitting that he sat down with the cast while I stood back and let him do his thing.

Next up for us was Jonathan Nolan the man behind the show. You say the name sounds familiar, he his the brother of Christopher Nolan and the writer behind such films as The Prestige, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.

Jonathan Nolan
Confirms that they will be bringing back a number of recurring roles in Season 2.
On the music of Ramin Jawadi (Iron Man): “I knew his work…from Game of Thrones. We’re extremely lucky to get him. He’s unbelievably talented and elevates everything we do.”
He discusses the differences between working in television and film, joking that people in TV have to listen to him and in film they don’t.

On attracting so many great actors to the show: “We consistently have the best cast in television, with a lot of New York actors that you don’t normally see on television.”
Discusses that the concept of the show was based on his youth growing up in England in the 1980’s when CCTV was installed. He and his ‘mates’ knew that most cameras were never monitored but began to ask if something could watch them all, such as a machine.

Jim Caveizel & Michael Emerson PERSON OF INTEREST Comic-Con Interviews

SandwichJohnFilms had the chance to attend the press junket for the hit TV show PERSON OF INTEREST at Comic-Con 2012. Being that this is MattInRC's favorite, it's only fitting that he sat down with the cast while I stood back and let him do his thing.

First up we sat down with John Reese (Jim Caviezel): A former U.S. Army Special Forces soldier and CIA field officer, who is presumed dead. Little is known about Reese's background, and his name is believed to be one of several aliases he uses. He lost his lover, Jessica, at some time prior to his having met Finch which appears to have marked him deeply. Reese demonstrates skill in the use of a range of weapons, hand-to-hand combat and surveillance tactics. He knows very little about Finch and is rebuffed when he attempts to learn more about him. And

Harold Finch (Michael Emerson): A reclusive, intensely private billionaire software genius. Finch developed a machine that can isolate the social security numbers of people with either premeditated homicidal intent or who will be homicide victims, based on its analysis of surveillance data. Following a traumatic event in his own life that led to the death of his business partner, he recruits Reese to help him deal with the people the machine identifies. Finch lives and works in an abandoned library, and shows the results of severe physical injuries, including the inability to turn his head, rigid posture, and a limp.

Michael Emerson
Says that a lot of what we’ll explore in this coming season will be fleshing out backstories of people on the show.
On the story of The Machine: “There’s a huge story to tell about the gradual construction of The Machine – how did it get to be the omnipotent apparatus that it is now. There is some fun in the telling of that.”
On the reaction the show has received: “I like that I’m on a show that attracts a more mature audience so I’m constantly amazed at the age range of people that want to talk to me about POI. I’m on a show that my parents genuinely want to watch.”

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D Press Conference At Comic-Con 2012

We had the pleasure of covering the press conference for Silent Hill: Revelation 3D at Comic-Con 2012.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is the second film in the Silent Hill series, directed by Michael Barrett (Solomon Kane) and starring a talented mix of veteran actors (Sean Bean, Carrie Ann Moss) and newcomers Adeliade Clemens. At our interview with Barrett and Clemens, we learned that the film will follow the events of the successful video game, focusing on the realization that Heather Mason (Clemens) is not who she appears and the role which the town of Silent Hill will play.

Clemens talked about the appeal of her character and the franchise in general. “The psychological journey of Heather was appealing. There was so much to sink my teeth into. I was really satisfied on all levels.” She also discussed the physical challenges, but had good overall feelings about the shoot. “I loved every minute of it."

When asked about shooting a film entirely in 3D (as opposed to creating the effect in post-production), Barrett insisted that audiences should see the film in 3D, and that fan favorites like the drifting ash scene in the first Silent Hill are in general better suited for upgraded format. He discussed how 3D scenes always look better when action is slowed, but that the effect can also be changed when focusing on his actors.

Barrett also shared that the composer Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill) will be crafting the music (along with Jeff Dana) and is also serving as sound designer. The effect will create “a singular audio identity” for the film but Barrett also admitted, “There was no way I was doing Silent Hill without Akira!”

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D opens in theatres on October 26th.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is an upcoming American 3D horror film due to release on October 26, 2012. Written and directed by Michael J. Bassett, Revelation 3D is based on the survival horror video game Silent Hill 3 and a sequel to the horror film Silent Hill, which is an adaptation of the video game of the same name.

Revelation 3D's plot follows teenager Heather Mason, who discovers, on the eve of her eighteenth birthday, that her presumed identity is false and, as a result, is drawn to an alternate dimension existing in the fictional American town of Silent Hill.

Heather Mason (Adelaide Clemens) and her father, Christopher Da Silva (Sean Bean), have been evading for years forces of a nature that she does not fully recognize. On the eve of her eighteenth birthday, plagued by nightmares and Christopher's disappearance, she discovers that her presumed identity is false and her life's origins too. This revelation leads her to an alternate dimension existing in Silent Hill, in which a cult led by Claudia Wolf (Carrie-Anne Moss) and the insane Leonard Wolf (Malcolm McDowell) resides. Heather is accompanied by a man named Vincent (Kit Harington). Characters Rose Da Silva (Radha Mitchell) and Dahlia Gillespie (Deborah Kara Unger) from the first Silent Hill film adaptation will also appear in the film.

The Machine Starring Vin Diesel Has Found It's Writers

Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are in final negotiations to write The Machine, the Vin Diesel-starring action comedy that is also the first new production for the restructured MGM. Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant wrote the original script, about a human-like machine created in secrecy by the Pentagon to be the world’s first ultimate weapon. After the machine was decommissioned and buried it is discovered, reactivated and befriended by a kid 20 years later. When the government learns that it’s back in operation, the machine’s mission becomes to protect the family harboring him. Diesel, who also is producing via his One Race Films, was set to star when the project was unveiled in May 2011. The hope is to create a franchise.

Gough and Millar co-wrote the screenplays for I Am Number Four, The Mummy: Tomb Of The Emperor, Herbie Fully Loaded and Shanghai Noon on the film side. They were behind the hit Superman-as-a-teen series Smallville on TV and most recently created/executive produced the ABC series Charlie’s Angels, which was cancelled last season.

Joe Maddelana (Hollywood Treasures) Comic-Con Interview

We had the pleasure of interviewing Joe Maddelana from the hit show Hollywood Treasures during Comic-Con 2012. If you have't seen the show you just don't know what you are missing. The first minute of the interview was lost. Make sure to check back soon and see my interview with Doug Dreier from the world famous Dreir collection which is up for auction through Profiles in History.

Little history on the TV show. Hollywood Treasures is a weekly, American, reality television series that began airing on SyFy, October 27, 2010, which follows a Hollywood, California-based appraiser named Joe Maddalena and his team as they track down, appraise and help auction off valuable film, television and pop culture memorabilia.

Make sure to visit the official site-

Now some history of Profiles in History, it was founded in 1985 by Joseph Maddalena, Profiles in History is the nation's leading dealer in guaranteed-authentic original historical autographs, letters, documents, vintage signed photographs and manuscripts. Born into a family of antiques dealers in Rhode Island, Joseph "Joe" Maddalena learned early on how to turn his passion of collecting historical autographs into a career. Needing to support himself, Joe turned to his hobby of buying and selling historical documents as a potential way to earn revenue. On weekends he scoured old Hollywood bookstores for letters and rare books. Upon graduation from Pepperdine, Joe pursued his passion to become a full-time dealer of historical documents, and opened his first office in 1985. A lifetime member of the Manuscript Society, Joe is widely recognized as the nation's leading authority on entertainment memorabilia and historical documents.

Jeremy Renner Replaces Christian Bale In America BS

There are yet more changes afoot for David O. Russell’s latest project, which once went under the title American Bullshit, but is currently looking for a new moniker (a move that should surprise exactly no one). But the new name – or lack thereof – isn’t the big news. Instead, Variety brings word that Jeremy Renner is now in negotiations to replace Christian Bale in the cast.

Jeremy Renner would play Jimmy Boyle, an intense, dedicated FBI agent who arrests con man Mel Weinberg and strong-arms him into running a scam that saw politicians arrested for making dodgy deals.

Bradley Cooper is already locking down the role of Weinberg and Russell is looking for someone to play his mistress / con partner. The film, written by Eric Warren Singer, is based on the true account of the scam, which ran in the 1970s and 1980s.

From the sounds of the report, Russell is looking to make this his next movie, since he has financing from Annapurna Pictures and has set a shoot date of February next year.

Renner, of course, will next be seen in The Bourne Legacy (due August 13) and then the delayed Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters, currently set to arrive on March 15 next year.

Finding Nemo 2 Has Found A Director

While Andrew Stanton‘s live-action feature directing debut John Carter led to a precedent-setting $200 million write-down for Disney earlier this summer, the filmmaker is officially out of director jail. I’ve been hearing for months that he would come aboard to direct the sequel to Disney-based Pixar‘s Finding Nemo, with the idea that Disney would give him another shot behind the camera on a live-action film.

Now officially come aboard the Finding Nemo sequel and has a concept the studio loves. Pixar continues to not be helpful on this, as they don’t comment on development. It’s understandable why Disney and Pixar would be excited by this. Stanton won two Oscars for his animation work on Wall-E and Finding Nemo. That original 2003′s fish tale’s $867.9 million worldwide gross makes it still Pixar’s second-highest-grossing film and the third-biggest Disney animated film release ever. And that comes before Finding Nemo is re-released in 3D in September.

As for Disney coming through with another live-action project, I’m hearing that nothing is firm but that the studio is working on it. It looks like the studio is ready to give Stanton a mulligan on John Carter. Stanton, who has played a big role in many of Pixar’s hits going back to Toy Story, has an opportunity to put a big flop behind him and he’s certainly not the first director to have trouble out of the gate, as David Fincher did with Alien 3. Plenty of others failed the first time out and lived to fight another day and Stanton will get the same opportunity from the studio that has made a fortune off his successes.

Anthony Mackie To Star As Falcon In Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Marvel isn't resting on its laurels after a victory lap at Comic-Con this weekend. The studio moving ahead on casting its latest project Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Anthony Mackie is in negotiations to star alongside Chris Evans in the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger that is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

The film will be released April 4, 2014.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the subtitle suggests a respected comic book storyline from the 2000s that resurrected Captain America's sidekick Bucky as a brainwashed super-assassin known as the Winter Solider.

While Marvel would not comment nor divulge character details, it is believed that Mackie will portray the Falcon, one of mainstream comics' first black superheroes and perhaps its first American one.

The character, Sam Wilson, is Harlem-based and had many street adventures with Cap in the 1970s comics, when he served as his partner. He derives his powers from a suit that allows him to fly and enhances his strength. He can also telepathically talk to birds. In current comics, Falcon is a key player in many of Cap's espionage adventures.
