BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Jumanji Reboot Could Be On It's Way

If there’s one thing that studios like more than anything at the moment, it’s to go digging into their back catalogues and dust off old properties to reboot. Take Sony, for example. Buried in a long interview with Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad is a small mention about wanting to make a new version of Jumanji.

You might recall the 1996 original, featuring Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce as two kids who decide to play an old board game they find. Unbeknownst to them, it’s a magical item that can trap the unwary, and the two sprogs release Alan Parrish (Robin Williams), who had been sealed within the game’s jungle realm for years. But though he’s glad to be out, the kids’ actions also release a lot of other chaos into the world.

With Joe Johnston calling the shots, a lot was made of the film’s CG critters, which were certainly impressive at the time. Now, of course, the studio is looking to shake things up. “We're going to try and reimagine Jumanji and update it for the present,” says Belgrad. But given that no writer or director is attached – or has been announced – yet, we’re guessing it’ll be a while yet.

While we’re on the subject of Sony developments in Belgrad's interview, he also mentions that the studio wants the 21 Jump Street sequel shooting before the year is out, and is already working on putting together another Men In Black film. Everyone try to look surprised!

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert?

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert? We're halfway checked out for the holiday weekend, so let's end with bit of comedy. A litigious videogame player is calling Winona Ryder to testify as an expert in "alienation." Erik Estavillo has filed a $1 million lawsuit in California Superior Court against Activision Blizzard, publisher of "World of Warcraft," saying it "maintain(s) a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow the game's sneaky and deceitful practices." The plaintiff says he suffers from several mental health problems brought on by WoW's "alienating" features, such as forcing beginners to walk or run to get from one point to another instead of speedier options available to those who master the game or buy an expansion pack. Estavillo says that the slow pace is "deceitful" because more time = more subscription revenue for Activision. Here's where Winona Ryder comes...

Sex Tape Review: Overly Sexual, Rude, Vulgar, and Absolutely Hilarious

The raunchy Sex Tape will divide audiences and critics, but who cares? Sex Tape suggests a growing practice among loving partners: that of making a raunchy testament of their escapades for posterity. But what happens when that evidence gets seen by friends, neighbors, and even the mailman? This is the plot that pits Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz) in an effort to secure every iPad gift Jay has given, his record company playlists being the envy of the recipients, but which has also inadvertently spread the video to every device. The reason for the act - termed in the movie as pulling "the full Lincoln " for its three-hour length - stems from the couple's non-existent social life, brought on by the constant demands of their children. The couple has a lot to lose: a burgeoning business relationship between Annie and Hank (Rob Lowe) could end if the iPad she's given to Hank exposes the video, and so the couple sets out to reclaim and wipe the incrim...
