Rise Of The Apes First Look

Rise Of The Apes First Look

A prequel to the original 1968 Planet of the Apes. The film will be directed by Rupert Wyatt and will be released on June 24, 2011. Unlike previous films in the series, the apes in the film will be created digitally using CGI technology.

The photo below shows us James Franco, Freida Pinto and Andy Serkis filming a scene from the movie. Serkis is playing an ape in the film which is why he's sporting the motion capture suit. This will be the second time he's played a monkey in a movie, the first was for Peter Jackson's King Kong.

James Franco is set to play a scientist working on a cure for Alzheimer's by testing on apes. When test subject Caesar suddenly begins to rapidly evolve, the scientist takes him home to remove him from the cruel lab doctors.

Synopsis:

Rise Of The Apes is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

Sasha Grey I Melt With You

Sasha Grey To Star In "I Melt With You"

Sasha Grey, the adult-film star who toplined Steven Soderbergh's "The Girlfriend Experience," is in negotiations to join the cast of "I Melt With You," the low-budget drama being directed by Mark Pellington.

Grey, along with Zander Eckhouse, Abhi Sinha and Arielle Kebbel, are joining Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe and Jeremy Piven in the drama, which Pellington wrote with Glen Porter.

The character drama follows a group of college buddies (Jane, Lowe and Piven) who, now as adults, look within themselves and find emptiness when they have their annual summer reunion. They resurrect a pact they vowed to live, die and kill by.

Grey will play a character named Raven, described as a free spirit who helps one of the men realize that nirvana can only be achieved by death.

Eckhouse plays Grey's idealistic writer boyfriend. Sinha is a medical student, and Kebbel is a young hostess.

For Grey, a major name in the adult film world, "Melt" continues her path toward the mainstream acting world. Soderbergh audaciously made her the centerpiece of his 2009 movie, and the actress, repped by New School Media, received solid notices for her dramatic debut.

Chris Evans Talks Captain America Script

Chris Evans Talks Captain America Script

When it comes to "Captain America," it's not exactly the easiest sell — after all, it's not every day that one sees a superhero running on the battlefield of World War II in a star-spangled suit. But for Chris Evans — the actor portraying Steve Rogers in the Marvel Studios film — shying away from a comic book film's more fantastical moments is not just a difficult task, but a potentially unnecessary one.

"The nature of comic book movies in general — I mean, with Wolverine, you've got swords coming out of a guy's knuckles — it's all a bit fantastical," Evans told MTV News when asked about the tone of "Captain America" and comic book movies in general.

"It's about finding a good script, a good director and finding a way to ground it in reality," he added. "Even if it is a bit dream-like, as long as you stay consistent, if you can get the audience to commit in the beginning and go for the ride, I think they'll jump on board and not try to burn holes in our consistency."

Hugo Weaving, Evans' "Captain America" co-star and nemesis as the Red Skull, added that shying away from the grand, occasionally comedic flourishes isn't a necessary step.

"If you can enjoy that aspect of it as well, if the script has a sense of humor to it, then those sides are actually enjoyable for the viewer and the people involved," he said.

"They did mix in some good comedy," added Evans. "It's not comedy on the nose — we're not cracking jokes — but they did find a way to add humor."

Likewise, the film's visual aesthetic will strike a balance between a darker film like "The Dark Knight" and lighter comic book fare such as Evans' previous "Fantastic Four" films.

"As far as the look of it's concerned, I definitely did ask [director Joe Johnston], 'What kind of gloss are we going for? Is this going to have that Spider-Man, Fantastic Four shine?' And he said it's not going to be that glossy or that colorful, but it's not going to be something as dark as something like 'Batman,'" he said. "I think it'll be a nice happy medium. I think the world of 'Iron Man' was done really well. It stayed grounded in reality but still stayed true to the fact that it's a comic book movie, so it does have to have some life to it."

Joss Whedon Talks Jeremy Renner & Mark Ruffalo Roles In The Avengers

Joss Whedon Talks Jeremy Renner & Mark Ruffalo Roles In The Avengers

Sure the big Marvel announcement came yesterday at the Marvel Studios panel, but we just can’t stop obsessing about Joss Whedon and the fact that he has assembled such a mind-blowingly amazing cast for “The Avengers.” To see pictures and footage check them out Here.

When we caught up with the man of the week/hour/con, we asked Whedon why his two newest additions: Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo are perfect for Hawkeye and Hulk, respectively.

“The thing about Hawkeye, he’s got his bows and arrows, you need somebody who’s very very down to earth, who’s very grounded, and who’s going to be the kind of guy who, you see him, and you understand why he likes to be far away from things and then shoot at them,” Whedon said, adding that without the right actor in the role things could get “very silly” if handled incorrectly. “[With] Jeremy, he just has a lovely quality.”

With regard to Ruffalo, Whedon says the celebrated actor was his “first and only choice for Bruce Banner.”

“I’m stunned that we landed that, just stunned," he said. "He has what I remember loving about the show, that quality of, you just look at him and you go through it with him, he invites you in in a way that [no] other performer has since Bill Bixby. He is a guy who’s been beaten up by life, but not defined by that. That’s what I want from Bruce Banner, is a guy who’s still getting it done, even though he has his problem.”

Twilight's Vampire Lands A Roll In X-Men: First Class

Twilight's Vampire Lands A Roll In X-Men: First Class

Edi Gathegi, who played a chillingly evil vampire in Twilight and Twilight Saga: New Moon, is joining X-Men: First Class in the role of Darwin. That character, the first bi-racial mutant (in the comic series), has the power of "reactive evolution," which allows him to adapt to any situation or environment. Plunged underwater, he'll grow gills, he'll gain night vision in pitch black and his skin grows fire retardant when burned.

Gathegi, who played Laurent in the Twilight films, just wrapped production on the Paul Johansson-directed adaptation of the Ayn Rand novel Atlas Shrugged.

X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn has set James McAvoy to play Xavier, Michael Fassbender to play Magneto, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Nicholas Hoult to play Beast, Jennifer Lawrence to play Mystique, Caleb Landry Jones to play Banshee and Lucas Till to play Havoc. Kevin Bacon is playing the villain.

Old Spice Guy Lands A Movie Role And On Chuck

Old Spice Guy Lands A Movie Role And On Chuck

Isaiah Mustafa (aka the Old Spice guy) continues to make the most of his 15 minutes of fame. Coming off the announcement at Comic-Con that the actor will be guest-starring on Chuck, he has also just joined the Jennifer Aniston film Horrible Bosses. Of the part, Mustafa says, "I'm playing a cop because I play these authoritative characters well. I don't know exactly who I'm in the scene with - maybe Jennifer Aniston!"

Horrible Bosses stars Jamie Foxx, Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Julie Bowen, Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston.

Produced and distributed by New Line, directed by Seth Gordon, originally written by Michael Markowitz, written by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. The story is about three friends who decide to whack their abusive “superiors” in a desperate bid for happiness

THR: You also landed a talent agreement last month with NBC. What does that mean, and what shows are you filming?

Mustafa: It means I'm exclusively working with NBC unless they approve other projects. I'm going to be filming an episode of "Chuck" next week. I don't know how many episodes yet, but I do know I'm playing an official CIA guy (named Greta). The character is pretty goofy, so it's going to be fun.

THR: What NBC shows do you hope to film guest spots on or even join?

Mustafa: "Chuck" was my top choice. "SNL" would be a dream. It was one of the first television shows my mom let me stay up to watch. I was in love with Mr. Bill.

Daniel Craig The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Daniel Craig To Star In The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Daniel Craig has closed his deal to play journalist Mikael Blomkvist in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, a deal which factors in options for two sequels based on The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest. The novels comprise the bestselling trilogy by late Stieg Larsson.

Deadline told you first about the Craig talks, which back in June were hardly a certainty, because there were so many hurdles to jump. I'm told that with a whole lot of juggling between three studios, Craig will be able to make the movies. Essentially, he will begin work on the first film in Sweden, as soon as he removes his cowboy hat from shooting Cowboys and Aliens in the early fall. Scheduling was coordinated between Dragon Tattoo-maker Sony Pictures Entertainment, DreamWorks partners Stacey Snider and Steven Spielberg--who were flexible on the Cowboys and Aliens schedule--and James Bond rights holders Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson. The latter situation was tougher because of the uncertainty over when the next Bond film will get made--probably with Sam Mendes directing--because of MGM's paralysis. CAA made Craig's deal.

This puts Craig in a position no previous James Bond ever was in. He's got two certain franchises between Bond and the Larsson books, and possibly another in Cowboys and Aliens, which he stars in with Harrison Ford, and for which Craig has an option on a second picture. Comic-Con crowds responded glowingly to footage shown by director Jon Favreau.

Sony Pictures Entertainment, director David Fincher and producer Scott Rudin are in the middle of casting the young actress who'll play the juicy role of Lisbeth Salander. Deadline previously released those candidates include Ellen Page, Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Sara Snook (Sleeping Beauty), Rooney Mara (The Social Network) and Sophie Lowe (Blame).

Sony just dated the film for a December 21, 2011 release. Steve Zaillian adapted the novel for the screen.

Let Me In Movie Trailer

Let Me In Movie Trailer

At the Comic-Con panel for Let Me In we got a look at the trailer and I gotta say looks pretty interesting to me. The film is a remake of a Swedish film called "Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist" which I have not seen yet and I will follow the suggestion of the director  "If you haven't seen LTROI don't watch it until you see my film".

Watch the trailer after the Jump..

Synopsis:

Let Me In tells a terrifying tale about an alienated 12-year old boy named Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) who is viciously bullied by his classmates and neglected by his divorcing parents. Achingly lonely, Owen spends his days plotting revenge on his middle school tormentors and his evenings spying on the other inhabitants of his apartment complex. His only friend is his new neighbor Abby (Chloe Moretz), an eerily self-possessed young girl who lives next door with her silent father (Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins). A frail, troubled child about Owen's age, Abby emerges from her heavily curtained apartment only at night and always barefoot, seemingly immune to the bitter winter elements. Recognizing a fellow outcast, Owen opens up to her and before long, the two have formed a unique bond.

The movie is directed by Cloverfield director Matt Reeves.

Ryan Reynolds Kicks Off Green Lantern Panel

Ryan Reynolds Kicks Off Green Lantern Panel

Warner Bros kicked off the movie side of Comic Con in a big way with a first look at its latest DC Comics superhero tentpole, “Green Lantern.”

Glimpse is a more apt description as the movie is still in production in Louisiana and the footage was teasingly half-second images of Ryan Reynolds with the alien power ring, a yellow alien named Tomaray,Reynolds willing a giant fist into existence and plowing some thugs, an alien world, among others.
The crowd liked what it saw, even as the movie faces microscopic scrutiny from the fan community, who recently vocally debated the merits of Ryan Reynolds in costume on a recent Entertainment Weekly cover.

Without directly referencing the issue, director Martin Campbell talked about the costume, stressing several time it is a work in progress. “It will eventually look incredibly cool.”

Warners made a point of making “Green Lantern,” and the “Harry Potter” panel which followed it, interactive, filling it with giveaway prizes. Ryan Reynolds, on stage with Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, producer Donald DeLine, director Martin Campbell, writer-producer Greg Berlanti and DC COO Geoff Johns, gave an autographed copy of a comic to a young fan and at the end gave away his power ring.

Reynolds, in fact, was the driving force behind the panel’s success. He won points when he recited the Green Lantern oath, a comic staple that will be in the movie. And he also revealed that a villain named Parallax is in the movie, something he realized he may not have been authorized to do.

Many fans wondered whether their favorite alien would be in the movie but many pressed the panelists if this movie was the beginning of Warners building a cohesive DC Universe on screen, in a same fashion that Marvel Studios has been doing.

Johns tried to avoid answering those types of questions but finally allowed “ ’Green Lantern’ is the success that will lead the charge for everything DC does.”
