Annabelle Comes Home Trailer

“ Annabelle Comes Home ” is the third installment of New Line Cinema’s hugely successful “ Annabelle ” films starring the infamous sinister doll from the “ Conjuring ” universe. Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the possessed doll to the locked artifacts room in their home, placing her “safely” be-hind sacred glass and enlisting a priest’s holy blessing. But an unholy night of horror awaits as An-nabelle awakens the evil spirits in the room, who all set their sights on a new target—the Warrens’ ten-year-old daughter, Judy, and her friends. The film stars Mckenna Grace (TV’s “The Haunting of Hill House,” “Gifted,” “Captain Marvel”) as Judy; Madison Iseman (“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” “Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween”) as her babysitter, Mary Ellen; and Katie Sarife (TV’s “Youth and Consequences” and “Supernatural”) as troubled friend Daniela; with Patrick Wilson (“Aquaman,” “The Conjuring” and “Insidious”

The Curse Of La Llorona Lands On Top Of The Box Office

In addition to superheroes, horror has proven to be a powerful performer at the Stateside box office, its comparatively low budgets and wide appeal generating solid profits. The latest tale of terror to strike a chord with audiences is The Curse Of La Llorona , which earned a studio-estimated $26.5 million. Though co-produced by James Wan (with Michael Chaves in the director's chair), it's not directly linked to the Conjuring films, though it does have a connection in Tony Amendola's Father Perez, who also popped up in 2014's Annabelle. The story of a terrifying legend about a weeping woman that brings death and fear pushed last week's repeat champ Shazam! down to second, but Warner Bros./New Line won't be shedding tears as the studio and its genre arm released both films. Shazam! spent its third weekend in the charts earning $17.3 million, and crossed the $120 million mark at the domestic box office. Faith-based film Breakthrough – the first to be rel

#TheNunMovie Official Trailer

Filmmaker James Wan, director of the record-setting horror hits “ The Conjuring ” and “ The Conjuring 2 ,” explores another dark corner of that universe with “ The Nun .” Directed by Corin Hardy (“The Hallow”), the new fright-fest is produced by Wan and by Peter Safran, who has produced all the films in “The Conjuring” franchise. When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in “The Conjuring 2,” as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned. “The Nun” stars Oscar nominated Demian Bichir (“A Better Life”) as Father Burke, Taissa Farmiga (TV’s “American Horror Story”) as Sister Irene, and

Annabelle: Creation Takes The Top Spot

While other cinematic universes have been stumbling, the films spun off from The Conjuring are humming along nicely, winning decent reviews and box office success. The latest addition is Annabelle: Creation , which offers more details on the history of the possessed doll. This latest horror opened to $35 million, according to studio estimates. It's another solid scare win for director David F. Sandberg, who made last year's Lights Out and, with more movies coming based on supernatural nasties from the first Conjuring and its sequel, the prospects seem bright. Annabelle's arrival meant Dunkirk was once again second place with $11.4 million, but that's no worry for the movie, which has been out for four weeks already. Christopher Nolan's latest has passed $153 million in the States alone. At third we find the second new arrival of the week, animated sequel The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature , which earned $8.9 million. The Dark Tower started to crumble quickly,

Movie Review: Annabelle: Creation

Second doll prequel is a cabbage patch of terror. Review by Brandon Wolfe The Annabelle preamble in The Conjuring was one of the best parts of one of the best contemporary horror films. Functioning as something of a freestanding short film within the larger narrative, the tale of two young nurses tormented in their apartment by the presence of a possessed doll was an uncommonly well-done horror chamber piece. That it told a story that was purported to be based in fact helped, but the subtlety on display in the sequence managed to burrow under the skin in ways that the usual sledgehammer approach in modern horror never could. The sequence was so memorable that Annabelle was gifted her own spin-off film a year later, though that film showcased none of the deftness of her debut and flailed about in trying to justify its existence. But that spin-off made a tidy profit, and so Annabelle was obligated to return to active duty. With a sequel not possible, since Annabelle fed rig

Movie Review: The Conjuring 2

Sequel conjures up solid scares but the power of the original compels it. Review by Brandon Wolfe True horror classics come along with criminal infrequency, but The Conjuring was a rare inductee into that exclusive club. The film, which chronicled one of several hauntings probed by real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga), was an exquisitely unnerving exercise in sustained terror. Director James Wan, who cut his horror teeth with Saw and Insidious , crafted one of the most genuinely effective haunted-house thrillers ever made, a film that excelled at keeping the audience in a state of perpetual dread for two hours. I walked out of The Conjuring feeling knotted up in my muscles and tight in my jaw, exhausted from the experience of watching something that knew exactly how and when to turn the screws. And, unlike most horror films, The Conjuring came home with me, filling me with that sense of unease in darkened rooms that only the

Get Ready #Annabelle2 Is Happening

According to Variety New Line is moving forward with a sequel to last year’s horror hit “ Annabelle ” with Gary Dauberman returning to write a script. “ Annabelle ,” directed by John R. Leonetti with Peter Safaran and James Wan producing, generated over $250 million in worldwide grosses on a $6.5 million budget as a spin-off from Wan’s 2013 hit “ The Conjuring .” The film was based on a possessed doll named Annabelle, as described by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, and set in California in 1969. “Annabelle” starred Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton and Alfre Woodard. There are no other attachments to the sequel at this point. Dauberman’s credits include “Crime of the Century” for Chris Morgan and Universal and “Vessels,” a mystery set on the Queen Mary. James Wan To Produce #MORTALKOMBAT Reboot

According to Trackingboard Furious 7 director James Wan is stepping in to produce the MORTAL KOMBAT reboot currently underway at New Line and Broken Road. The in-demand director of The Conjuring and Insidious: Chapter 2 has been brought over to uppercut some new life into the previously stunted picture. With his dark sensibility, ability to orchestrate action and scares, and a wildly successful financial track record, Wan seems to be the perfect fit for what the studio has described as “a departure from the mythology,” with “darker, brutally real martial arts.” The script, being penned by Mortal Kombat: Legacy writer Oren Uziel and The Expendables writer Dave Callaham, centers around a seemingly harmless guy who realizes his potential when he finds himself caught in the middle of a cross-dimensional battle between the warriors of Earth and the monsters of Outworld. Now, in order to stop the world from total destruction, he must win the martial arts tournament known as ‘Mort

Movie Review: Insidious: Chapter 3

Once more into the Further, dear friends. Review by Brandon Wolfe For a duo that earned their stripes with the disreputable gristmill of the Saw franchise, Directors James Wan and Leigh Whannell have turned out to be adept horror stylists. The two embarked on a successful second act of more supernatural, less torture-driven fright fare with 2010’s Insidious , about a family bedeviled by a Darth Maul impersonating demon fixated on their young son. Though haunted-house and possession thrillers have become dime-a-dozen in recent years, Insidious was uncommonly well-done. It crafted a thick air of foreboding, offered some genuinely unsettling imagery and featured unnecessarily strong performances from Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson as the beleaguered parents. Wan went on to direct the even better spook-house thriller The Conjuring on his own before reuniting with Whannell for the less successful Insidious: Chapter 2 . Now that Wan has moved on to the big leagues with Furious 7 and is

Movie Review: Poltergeist

Lazily recycled ideas? They're heeeere. Review by Brandon Wolfe Though others preceded it ( The Haunting, The Amityville Horror ), 1982’s Poltergeist is often held as the quintessential haunted house movie. The Steven Spielberg-produced, Tobe Hooper-directed (though, by many accounts, also Spielberg-directed) film about a traditional nuclear family moving into a house of horrors set the stage for every spook-house film that came after. Though, while there is still much to appreciate about Poltergeist , the film’s ability to get under the skin arguably hasn’t endured. There are isolated moments that remain chilling, but that Spielbergian, suburban-set sense of mouth-agape wonderment has the effect of working against the film’s creep factor, creating an aura of comforting safety that prevents the film from becoming true nightmare fuel. Poltergeist feels more of a piece with E.T. than it does with The Exorcist . Watched in the wake of a truly terrifying haunted-house thriller l

James Wan Eyed for "Aquaman"

The Furious 7 director would join Jason Momoa for the DCCU. Story by Matt Cummings Director James Wan has scored big in recent years, moving effortless through The Conjuring and Insidious franchises with relative ease. His most recent production - Furious 7 - has already roared to an amazing $180m, vaulting him into the spotlight with his quick action edits and ability to navigate a nearly impossible shooting schedule. Now, he could be on his way to the deep ocean. According to The Hollywood Reporter , Wan is being pursued by Warner Bros. to direct Aquaman , featuring the classic titular character. No official offer has been made, but the studio appears to have started preliminary talks. Actor Jason Momoa is already signed to star as the lead and will supposedly make an appearance in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice . The Justice Leaguer will star in several of Warners' superhero films, including the BvS two-parter. Competing scripts are being d

Paramount sets dates for The Ring, Paranormal Activity and Friday the 13th Sequels

Three spooky sequels find new release dates. By Brandon Wolfe Paramount has shuffled its horror-movie deck as it has set new dates for three upcoming sequels, according to Variety . First up is the second sequel to 2002’s The Ring , carrying the Cameron-esque title Rings , which will bow on November 13, more than a decade after the release of the previous installment, 2005’s abysmal The Ring Two . The other two films, both of which are being pushed back significantly, are Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension , which is moving from March 13 to October 23 (the date recently vacated by the Conjuring sequel), and the latest reboot attempt for Friday the 13th , bumped from November 13 to May 13 (which still affords it a release date on a Friday the 13th). This move isn’t surprising for the sixth Paranormal Activity , which seemed unlikely to make that rapidly approaching March date due to the complete lack of any form of promotion thus far. October is the franchise’s home b

James Wan To Return To Direct The Conjuring 2

When he was out promoting The Conjuring in 2013 and preparing to start shooting Fast & Furious 7, James Wan talked about how he was finished with horror films for a while and wanted to focus on other things. But it seems he’s happy to return to at least one of his scare franchises, as the director has made a deal to craft The Conjuring 2 . We guessed when news broke that the horror sequel was being pushed back to 2016 that Wan may have made a deal to return provided he could be given more time to work on other things, such as the extensive tour planned in support of the new Fast outing, which itself had to be delayed to 2015 after the death of Paul Walker. And Wan hasn’t stepped entirely away from the terror genre that helped make his career: he produced this year’s Conjuring spin-off Annabelle , and his new deal includes an option to produce and develop sci-fi, horror and comedy films for New Line via his Atomic Monster production company. No firm details have emerged abo

Win Tickets To An Advance For ANNABELLE on September 30th at 7:30PM in Sacramento. ANNABELLE follows John ( Ward Horton ) and Mia Form ( Annabelle Wallis ), a young couple happily expecting their first child. But when the beautiful (depending on how you look at it) vintage doll John buys for his wife attracts the attention of an obsessed satanic cult, things go scare-shaped for them and, more violently, their neighbors. Surviving that initial incident, the couple moves to a new house, but discover that Annabelle has somehow made the trip with them. Sadly, they don’t at first make the connection between the creepy object and the horror that befell them last time, but they soon learn that the doll has a demon attached to it, one determined to make their lives a living hell. Just once it would be nice to meet a demon whose only concern is that we’ve remembered to lock the door behind us or set the DVR for the right show… With John R. Leonetti inheriting directorial duties from
