BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Henry Golding In Talks To Play Snake Eyes In G.I. Joe Spin-Off

Empire is reporting for Henry Golding is in talks to play silent ninja commando Snake Eyes in the G.I. Joe spin-off film. Robert Schwentke is on to direct the film with Evan Spiliotopoulos providing the script. It'll be interesting to see how they treat the character, since his trademark is that he never reveals his face and doesn't speak. We'd have to guess that with Golding now circling the lead, the new film will not only have his face on screen, but have him actually saying something. And also? Surely blood-brother-turned-nemesis Storm Shadow will play a part. Paramount and Hasbro have been looking at ways to do more with the Joe franchise, including yet another reboot of the main team in development. As for Golding, he's reunited with his A Simple Favour director Paul Feig for Last Christmas (which just put its first trailer out) and will appear in Guy Ritchie's The Gentleman, out next year. Snake Eyes Film Has Found It's Director

THR is reporting Robert Schwentke , who directed two installments of the Divergent sci-fi action movie series, has been tapped to helm Paramount’s G.I. Joe spinoff pic centering on the popular character Snake Eyes . Evan Spiliotopoulos, the writer of 2017's Beauty and the Beast and 2016's The Huntsman: Winter’s War , penned the script, and Brian Goldner is among those producing the feature based on the Hasbro toy line. Snake Eyes is the silent ninja commando that first appeared in the 1980s as part of Hasbro and Marvel Comics’ relaunch of the toy line, dubbed G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. The character, who dresses in all black, never reveals his face and never speaks, stood out among the military anti-terrorist group and quickly established himself as the most popular. He had a special relationship with Scarlett, for a while the team’s only female member, and sometimes carried out solo missions with his pet wolf, Timber. His sworn enemy is Storm Shadow, a ninja who

Movie Review: 'The Divergent Series: Allegiant'

The boring The Divergent Series: Allegiant does little to hedge our concerns about YA's future. Review by Matt Cummings WARNING: Spoilers ahead Over the past few years, we've witnessed a stunning amount of excellent dystopian dramas. Ready to break new ground by returning us to the familiar social territory of Star Trek: The Original Series , humans have struggled in various universes as they seek both the reason for their loss and their place in what's left. Sadly, The Divergent Series: Allegiant still hasn't figured out its formula for success, staggering on and on with a mix of terrible CGI, poor performances, and a script that's decaying as fast as their dystopian Chicago. As the faction-less masses of Chicago gather after the death of their overlord, Tris (Shailene Woodley) and her lover Four (Theo James) realize one leader's oppression has been replaced by another: Four's mother Evelyn (Naomi Watts). While the couple and many other

Movie Review: Insurgent

Insurgent is amazingly bad. WARNING: Major spoilers ahead. Review by Matt Cummings After the boredom and schmaltz that upended Divergent at only $150 million domestically, it was clear that the adaptation of the Veronica Roth series needed a serious tuneup. Sadly, a new director and promise of a better product made no difference to the bottom line, as Insurgent is just as bad - and perhaps worse - than its predecessor. As Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley), her boyfriend Four (Theo James), her timid brother Caleb (Ansel Elgort, and the smart aleck Peter (Miles Teller) hide among the peaceful Amity people, the four try to deal with the events surrounding their fellow Divergent soldiers being routed during the last moments of Divergent . Pursued by the evil villainous Erudite leader Jeanine (Kate Winslet), Tris and her fellow Divergents have been targeted to open a sacred box held by Tris' parents (Ashley Judd and Tony Goldwyn), that will show Jeanine the way to destroy th

Darren Aronofsky Offered Wolverine Sequel

Darren Aronofsky Offered Wolverine Sequel We just  learned that 20th Century Fox today entered into negotiations with Darren Aronofsky to helm the sequel to last year's X-Men Origins: Wolverine , but the director is still being offered other valuable consolation prizes by Warner Bros., like Tales From the Gangster Squad, a high-priority project that this blog told you about last week. Back in August, Fox brass had been focusing on a handful of directors for Wolverine 2, including Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade and Red director Robert Schwentke . At the time, Fox had actually considered Aronofsky its top choice, as had its star, Hugh Jackman : The pair had collaborated on Aronofsky's ambitious 2006 movie, The Fountain , and are said to still have a close relationship today. And despite the financial failure of Fountain, Fox bosses were impressed by Aronfsky's willingness to work frugally on smaller movies and still get big results: Aronofsky directed Mic

David Slade To Direct Wolverine 2

"Eclipse" Director David Slade To Direct Wolverine 2 That it's come down to two directors vying to call the shots on Fox's sequel to Wolverine: Twilight: Eclipse director David Slade , and Robert Schwentke (Flightplan, The Time Traveler's Wife). Both men have been approved by the studio's brass, and though Jackman will ultimately be the one to make the call after meeting with each next week, a well-placed source inside the production insists, "It's going to be Slade." As for the plot, McQuarrie's last draft from January has us rejoining Logan in Japan, where we left him at the end of the first Origins movie. There, he begins a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage is, unfortunately, promised to another man. This being Hugh Jackman , of course, he doesn't take no for an answer. And, this being Japan, that doesn't go over so well. Soon enough, Logan must do battle with her furious father and samurai-sword-w
