Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio Comes To Life

Guillermo del Toro , The Jim Henson Company and Pathe are ready to go on Pinocchio , a 3D stop motion animated adaptation of the Carlo Collodi fairy tale that will be edgier than the 1940 animated Disney classic. Gris Grimly will co-direct with Mark Gustafson , and production will begin later this year. Grimly illustrated a 2002 book of Collodi’s tale that formed the basis for a project that is years in the making. The storyline was hatched by Del Toro and Matthew Robbins, and the script was written by the latter, who has collaborated with del Toro on scripts for Mimic , the remake Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark , and del Toro’s next directing project At the Mountains of Madness. Del Toro will produce with Jim Henson Company’s Lisa Henson and Jason Lust, and Allison Abbate. James Cameron To Produce Cirque du Soleil Film

To Be Shot In 3D Of Course Director Andrew Adamson has begun production on an enterprising family-oriented feature film that marries James Cameron's 3D wizardry with the precision and spectacle of Cirque du Soleil . Deadline reports the untitled film is a hybrid combining narrative storytelling with Cirque performances that are being captured in 3D from different themed Cirque du Soleil shows in Las Vegas. Those performances serve as the backdrop of a magical world where the film's lead character has been transported. The film is being financed primarily by Cirque du Soleil, and Cameron is serving as producer. Also producing are Reel FX Entertainment partners Cary Granat and Ed Jones, Cirque du Soleil, and Adamson's Strange Weather Films' partner Aron Warner. The intention is for this to launch a series of family features that incorporate Cirque du Soleil into their storylines. Guillermo del Toro Leaves Tom Cruise's Van Helsing It was announced that  Guillermo del Toro 's next project will be At the Mountains of Madness for Universal Pictures. For him to make this film he had to leave one on the table. There was rumbling in Hollywood not to long ago that del Toro was interested in developing a Van Helsing film project for Universal. Well, he's no longer attached to this film. However, even with del Toro gone, we hear that Cruise remains attached to the project and he could possibly be starring in the film and producing.
