Super Bowl Teaser For The Amazing Spider-Man 2

We got our hands on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Super Bowl teaser trailer.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Forest Whitaker To Join Taken 3 Cast

Olivier Megaton will be back in the director’s chair for Taken 3, the latest film in the action franchise hatched by Luc Besson‘s EuropaCorp. Megaton directed the second film in the series that’s been distributed by 20th Century Fox. While it’s likely that Fox will be on Taken 3, I understand negotiations are still underway. This will be Megaton’s next project with a start date I hear could be as early as March. In a new piece of casting, Deadline understands that Forest Whitaker is in talks to join Liam Neeson and other returning actors including Maggie Grace. Neeson stars as Bryan Mills, the retired CIA agent who used his brutal skills to track down his daughter after she was kidnapped in the first film, and who was himself taken hostage in the sequel. Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr reported last summer that Neeson was closing a deal in the vicinity of $20M to reprise his role as Mills. Neeson was a reluctant participant in the first sequel, but got paid in the $15M neighborhood.

The initial Taken cost around $25M and grossed more than $226M with Pierre Morel directing. That film made most of its money domestically. Conversely, the Megaton-directed Taken 2, which cost around $45M and took in more than $376M, grossed about $100M more internationally than it did in North America. As with both of those films, Besson and Robert Mark Kamen wrote the screenplay for Taken 3.

Labor Day Review. Reminds Us That A Rusty Door With New Paint Is Still A Rusty Door

Labor Day Review
By: MattInRC

The passion-laced Labor Day reminds us that a rusty door with new paint is still a rusty door.

Director/Writer/Producer Jason Reitman is one of those unknown Hollywood guys whose body of work speaks louder than Reitman himself. Projects like Juno made Ellen Page an independent darling, while Up in the Air star Vera Farminga brought her the exposure needed to score the very good The Conjuring. Then there's Labor Day, an ill-conceived chick flick whose parts are stronger than its whole, and whose sweet center hides serious issues with its premise.

See if this makes sense: 1987 teenager Henry (Gatlin Griffith) and his divorcee/depressed mother Adele (Kate Winslet) are forced to aid/abet the escaped convict/murderer Frank (Josh Brolin), who happens to be kind of a nice guy. He ties mom up just so she can say he did when the police interview her, but quickly begins to bond with her and Henry, feeding homemade chili to Adele while she's trussed up. Soon, the trio are baking a peach pie together, with Frank putting on his best Julia Child face: "Pie crust is a very forgiving thing," he instructs. "You can make all kinds of mistakes, but you can't forget the salt." Soon, this three-day excursion into insta-family leaves Henry and Adele starting to reciprocate to Frank's quiet charm and dignity. They play baseball in the backyard and eventually decide to run away with Frank to parts unknown. The question is, can they escape before the police arrive?

Labor Day is beautifully shot by Reitman buddy Eric Steelberg, who emphasizes every leaf and branch in wherever this story is set - it's one of the film's strongest points, as is the pretty score by Composer Rolfe Kent. The problem centers around Reitman himself, who weaves an implausible tale while treating his characters like 12-year olds planning to sneak under the bleachers for a first kiss. Without giving away the details, our trio commits serious errors while planning to leave together, and the feeling we get from their stupidity adds another layer of frustration to what was weird to beginwith. You see, we know of no one - regardless if they're desperate for sex or simple belonging - that would readily allow a murderer to woo them as easily as Frank does. Granted, Brolin's rugged charm and honesty will captivate the ladies, but Reitman's early assumptions strain any credibility, forcing us to take too great a leap while Brolin and Winslet fall deeply for each other. We love our actors and their performances - even Griffith - but we couldn't help but think of the old adage of painting a rusty door that's still rusty at its core. With such a flawed premise, no performance can rescue this, providing all the proof we need for its January prison sentence instead of prime November or June placement.

If your marriage/boyfriend duties require your attendance at this film, we wish you all the best as there's nothing surprising once the plot gets going. You'll spot all the reveals a mile away; and much like the aforementioned peach pie, its delicious center can't keep us from hating the flimsy and undercooked crust. Labor Day isn't terrible, but it could have been so much more. It's rated PG-13 for thematic material, brief violence and sexuality and has a runtime of 111 minutes.

That Awkward Moment Review. Is A Better Netflix Candidate Than A Stand-In-Line Must See

That Awkward Moment Review
By: MattInRC

Here's why That Awkward Moment is a better Netflix candidate than a stand-in-line must see.

For 21st Century men, our very nature seems to either be under fire these days or is being fastidiously duplicated by the opposite sex. Who can blame them: loose and wild women who see men as trophies to be collected is probably fair for the course, thanks to our continued efforts to remain mustangs ourselves, roaming the land for new mares. The comedy That Awkward Moment wants desperately to lead that discussion, but instead it leaves us as unsatisfied as a one-night stand generally can be.

Successful book cover designers Jason (Zac Efron) and Daniel (Miles Teller) enjoy the sexuality of New York City, building an impressive 'roster' of women they can 'visit' once a week without having any real connection. Their friend Mikey (Michael B. Jordan) isn't so lucky: his marriage is about to end, forcing him to bunk with Jason and endure Daniel's snide comments over the look of Mikey's penis. Over cups of coffee, the guys decide to swear off serious relationships, until Jason meets Ellie (Imogen Poots) and Daniel decides to shack up with long-time friend Chelsea (Mackenzie Davis). As their decisions unfold, the guys must decide whether to share their changing priorities or keep up appearances so that the 'Bros Before Ho's' code won't be violated.

The problem with Moment is that none of it feels particularly inspired, accurate, or even well-done. The suggestion that American men and women are switching roles, or that females have somehow become 'looser' isn't even applicable to the 20s/30s generation it pretends to mirror. Constantly bombarded these days with messages of sexual deviancy - along with the pressures of staying ultra-thin in an effort to attract other ultra-thin types - must make this age group think that Hollywood is Hell-bent on reclassifying them for their own uses. Writer/Director Tom Gormican doesn't understand young people whatsoever: rather than establishing himself as the next John Hughes, he's content to show bare-butted Viagra-enhanced males on toilets who are constantly immersed in coffee cups and cheap Bulleit bourbon, while pining for their ladies without a sense of why they feel this way. Rather than a raucously hilarious Hangover-type of ending, we are subjected to an overly-emotional love-in, complete with empty declarations and man tears. Any 20/30-somethings hoping to glean a moment of inspiration about dating and love in the 21st Century might emerge assuming that a good screw and a cup of coffee solves all.

Moment also sports decidedly unfunny performances, especially during the third act, when any sense of comedy is replaced with the requisite 'damage control' plot. Teller is the only bright spot here, content to whittle away with funny ad-libs before being pulled down by that same dull seriousness. His admission of dating guilt (and the reasons for his self-imposed predicament) seem out of place because he and Efron are so unconvincing. Given this is a chick flick, most women might overlook these massive faults and maddening e to find Efron's abs and butt appealing, especially during his teary-eyed monologue as he attempts to re-woo Potts, whose mousy stature looks plainly unhealthy. The two have zero chemistry and neither have the dramatic skills to move their characters into any believable territory beyond mere cockiness. Another disappointment is Jordan's extremely limited performance - his portrayal in Fruitvale Station was impressive, but here Gormican simply paints him as an overly-emotional trainwreck, content to drink wine and eat chocolate ice cream the moment his wife lays down the bad news.

In the end, That Awkward Moment's mildly amusing antics are not enough to cover up the flawed and unfunny narrative that modern younger men are somehow becoming different beings than the rest of their tribe. If they are in fact acting less 'like men" by becoming more sensitive and addicted to chocolate and wine, Moment never makes a compelling case, barely taking our characters below the superficial jokes to expose the inner workings of our sex. This might make a desirable stay-at-home Netflix date, but its premise and performances make it impossible to recommend waiting in line for it. That Awkward Moment is rated R for sexual content and language throughout and has a runtime of 94 minutes.

Would You Want To See Channing Tatum As Gambit?

From recent interviews and press conferences, it's clear that Channing Tatum is a big X-Men fan. In particular, he loves Gambit, the charming Cajun card-thrower who starred in the comics, the '90s animated TV series and, unfortunately, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where he was mangled by a throwaway role for Taylor Kitsch. Now, in our new X-Men: Days Of Future Past issue, we learned from X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner that a Tatum-led Gambit movie may be closer than you'd think.

"I'm dying to do a Gambit movie with Channing Tatum," Shuler Donner reveals. "That doesn't have to be a great big movie. It's a thief in New Orleans, it's a whole different story. He's on board, and I have to get the studio on board. How can anyone resist Channing? He's such a sweetheart."

At a White House Down press conference last year, Tatum said, “I would like to play Gambit. Gambit’s my favourite. I’m from New Orleans, around that area. My dad’s from New Orleans, and I like to do a Cajun accent. I could do it for real."

"No knock on Taylor Kitsch, though, ’cause I actually like his Gambit, but I’ve always lived around Cajun people. Gambit was always like the woman-loving, cigarette-smoking, drinking guy. He was the punk rock of all the superheroes. He’s a thief. He kind of rode the line.”

So it sounds like the star and studio are thinking along the same lines, so all they have to do is make schedules line-up for the in-demand Tatum (also working on 22 Jump Street right now, and appearing later this year in Jupiter Ascending and Foxcatcher) and find the script and director to bring it all together. No problem! It's also interesting to see Shuler-Donner, and Fox, plan smaller X-outings between the major X-Men films.

Based on the thrill-ride film, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series is a supernatural crime saga centered around bank robber, Seth Gecko (Cotrona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard "Richie" Gecko (Holtz), who are wanted by the FBI and Texas Rangers Earl McGraw (Johnson) and Freddie Gonzalez (Garcia) after a bank heist leaves several people dead. While on the run to Mexico, Seth and Richie encounter former pastor Jacob Fuller (Patrick) and his family, whom they take hostage. Using the family RV to cross the border, chaos ensues when the group detours to a strip club that is populated by vampires. They are forced to fight until dawn in order to get out alive. The series deepens the tone and expands the storyline of the film, adds new characters and backstories, and explores the Mesoamerican mythology behind the creatures inside the club.

"From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series" is an El Rey Network production in association with Rodriguez International Pictures, FactoryMade Ventures and Miramax. Executive producers are Robert Rodriguez, Carlos Coto (who is also showrunner) and FactoryMade Ventures and El Rey Network co-founders John Fogelman and Cristina Patwa. “Driving School…Again” New Featurette From NEED FOR SPEED

The fifth in a series of Behind-The-Scenes Featurettes, “Driving School…Again,” from NEED FOR SPEED.

“Camera Cars” New Featurette From NEED FOR SPEED-

DreamWorks Pictures’ “Need for Speed” marks an exciting return to the great car culture films of the 1960s and ’70s, when the authenticity of the world brought a new level of intensity to the action on-screen. Tapping into what makes the American myth of the open road so appealing, the story chronicles a near-impossible cross-country journey for our heroes — one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption. Based on the most successful racing video game franchise ever with over 140 million copies sold, "Need for Speed" captures the freedom and excitement of the game in a real-world setting, while bringing to life the passion for the road that has made our love of cars so timeless.

The film centers around Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul), a blue-collar mechanic who races muscle cars on the side in an unsanctioned street-racing circuit. Struggling to keep his family-owned garage afloat, he reluctantly partners with the wealthy and arrogant ex-NASCAR driver Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). But just as a major sale to car broker Julia Maddon (Imogen Poots) looks like it will save Tobey's shop, a disastrous race allows Dino to frame Tobey for a crime he didn’t commit, and sending Tobey to prison while Dino expands his business out West.

Two years later, Tobey is released and set on revenge — but he knows his only chance to take down his rival Dino is to defeat him in the high-stakes race known as De Leon — the Super Bowl of underground racing. However to get there in time, Tobey will have to run a high-octane, action-packed gauntlet that includes dodging pursuing cops coast-to-coast as well as contending with a dangerous bounty Dino has put out on his car. Based on the most successful racing video game franchise ever with over 150 million units sold, "Need for Speed" captures the freedom and excitement of the game in a real-world setting, while bringing to life the passion for the road that has made our love of cars so timeless.

Two years later, Tobey is released and set on revenge — but he knows his only chance to take down his rival Dino is to defeat him in the high-stakes race known as De Leon. However to get there in time, Tobey will have to run a high-octane, action-packed gauntlet that includes dodging pursuing cops coast-to-coast as well as contending with a dangerous bounty Dino has put out on his car. With the help of his loyal crew and the surprisingly resourceful Julia, Tobey defies odds at every turn and proves that even in the flashy world of exotic supercars, the underdog can still finish first.

“Need for Speed” is presented by DreamWorks Pictures and Reliance Entertainment, produced by Patrick O’Brien, John Gatins and Mark Sourian, and directed by Scott Waugh. The screenplay is by George Gatins. The story is by George Gatins & John Gatins, and, based on the video game series created by Electronic Arts. The film releases in U.S. theaters on March 14, 2014.
