Disney Says Bye To Spider-Man In Any Upcoming Films For Now

Deadline is reporting Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige won’t produce any further Spider-Man films because of an inability by Disney and Sony Pictures to reach new terms that would have given the former a co-financing stake going forward. A dispute that has taken place over the past few months at the top of Disney and Sony has essentially nixed Feige, and the future involvement of Marvel from the Spider-Man universe, sources said. This comes at a moment when the last two films Kevin Feige produced broke all-time records — Disney’s Avengers: Endgame became the highest grossing film of all time, and Spider-Man: Far From Home this week surpassed the James Bond film Skyfall to become the all time highest grossing film for Sony Pictures. Sources said there are two more Spider-Man films in the works that are meant to have director Jon Watts and Tom Holland front and center. Unless something dramatic happens, Feige won’t be the lead creative producer of those pictures. There is

John Wick Takes Down The Avengers At The Box Office

If there was anyone who was going to finally knock the Avengers from the top spot at the US box office, it was John Wick, who could probably have taken down Thanos without all the complicated hassle. And so it has proved, with John Wick: Chapter Three – Parabellum has launched in first place with $57 million this weekend, according to studio estimates. That's the best start for a Wick film to date, and it has already earned more in one weekend than the original film took in total in the States. Avengers: Endgame , meanwhile, was nudged down to second place, yet it still took in $29.4 million. Domestically, the movie has now made $770 million, passing Avatar in that regard, though it has a little way to go to best it worldwide, moving the needle to $2.5 billion in its fourth weekend (Avatar still sits at $2.7 billion). Pokemon: Detective Pikachu earned $24.8 million in third place, pushing past $94 million in the US. A Dog's Journey , the sequel to 2017's A Dog's

Avengers: Endgame Makes History This Weekend At The Box Office

Marvel Studios’ “ Avengers: Endgame ” made history this weekend with a record-shattering estimated global debut of $1,209.0 million, becoming the first film in history to surpass $1 billion in its opening weekend. It reached the billion-dollar threshold in just five days, more than twice as fast as its predecessor “Avengers: Infinity War,” which held the record at 11 days. The film also set domestic and international records. “Kevin Feige and the Marvel Studios team have continued to challenge notions of what is possible at the movie theatre both in terms of storytelling and at the box office,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. “Though ‘Endgame’ is far from an end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these first 22 films constitute a sprawling achievement, and this weekend’s monumental success is a testament to the world they’ve envisioned, the talent involved, and their collective passion, matched by the irrepressible enthusiasm of fans around the world.” NON SPOI
