Karl Urban First Look As Judge Dredd

First Look At Judge Dredd

Good Friday to everyone. We get our first look at Karl Urban (Star Trek, Red) as Judge Dredd. From what you can see from the picture it stays true to the comic book, from the first look at the costume we are miles ahead of how Stallone looked.

The picture was posted on a Twitter account for Jock who is the concept artist working on the film, let's hope he doesn't lose his job for this.

"There’s been a change in comic-book movies; they were treated unseriously and now they’re treated seriously. We’ve cast a guy called Karl Urban to play Dredd. We’ll be shooting in Johannesburg, it’s being directed by Pete Travis, we’re shooting with the people who did District 9 – and if we get it right, Alex has a couple of ideas for other stories as well. It’s not based on any one comic, and John Wagner is involved in every decision."

Yahoo and Columbia Pictures have released the new full trailer for The Green Hornet. To be honest I am not that excited to see this film. Need to see more of the film first. I am impressed by Kato (Jay Chou) fighting skills in the clips that I have seen for the film.

The film stars Seth Rogan, Jay Chou, Michael Papajohn, Christoph Waltz and Michael Pena.

Robert Downey Jr. To Star In How to Talk to Girls

Robert Downey Jr. Got His Eye On A Girl

Robert Downey Jr. has officially left the orbit of Gravity, the Alfonso Cuaron outer space survival thriller set up at Warner Bros.

But those who need their Downey fix can turn their attention to Fox’s How to Talk to Girls.

Sources say that actor is circling the project, an adaptation of a book by a nine-year old boy revolving around advice on how to deal with the opposite sex. Downey, along with wife and producing partner Susan Downey, would also come aboard as a producer, joining Shawn Levy and his 21 Laps banner.

Girls was written by Alec Greven, then 9 years old, as a school project. It landed the boy a publishing deal (at least three other How to Talk to ... books have been written) and put him on talk shows across the country.

Ben Karlin and Stu Zicherman wrote a draft but word is that the project is being reconceived and developed as a Downey vehicle. Susan Downey will spearhead the development process and will oversee the hiring of a writer. At the time of Fox acquisition, Levy said he wanted to make a comedy in the tone of Big.

No deals have been made and insiders caution that Downey is only eyeing Girls. The actor is still attached to Oz: The Great and Powerful at Disney, which the studio is hoping to start shooting next summer.

Whedon Wanted Jolie To Play Wonder Woman

Joss Whedon Wanted Jolie To Play The Amazon Goddess

When Joss Whedon was writing a script for his never made film for Warner Bros. Wonder Woman, he had only one actress in mind for the star-spangled short and gold bracelets.

“For me, Wonder Woman was basically Angelina Jolie,” he says. “She spends a lot of time flying around. She works in a lot of different countries. She’s very global. And she’s appalled by the way people treat each other.”

If this film ever gets made in this decade how do you feel about Angelina Jolie playing the Amazon goddess? A better choice then Megan Fox or Beyoncé Knowles. It still amazes me that There hasn't been a Wonder Woman film made yet. But in due time I am sure WB will give it a go.

Game of Thrones Images & Trailer

Game of Thrones First Images And Plot

Game of Thrones is an upcoming American medieval fantasy television series created by David Benioff and Dan Weiss for HBO. The series, based on author George R. R. Martin's best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels, chronicles the violent dynastic struggles among noble families for control of the Iron Throne of Westeros. The show stars Lena Headey (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings) and Mark Addy (The Full Monty)

The television series is expected to follow the multiple storylines of the A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels closely, and author Martin has stated that the pilot script was very faithful to his work. Set in Westeros where "summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime," Game of Thrones chronicles the violent dynastic struggles among noble families for control of the Iron Throne.

Watch the trailer after the Jump..

Synopsis

A Song of Ice and Fire follows three principal storylines, divided by geography and participants.

The first storyline, set in the Seven Kingdoms themselves, chronicles a many-sided struggle for the Iron Throne that develops after King Robert's death. The throne is claimed by his son Joffrey, supported by his mother's powerful family, House Lannister. However, Lord Eddard Stark, King Robert's Hand, finds out Robert's children are illegitimate, and that the throne should therefore fall to Robert's unpopular eldest brother, Stannis. Robert's charismatic and popular youngest brother, Renly, also places a claim, openly disregarding the order of precedence, with the support of the powerful House Tyrell. While the claimants battle for the Iron Throne, Robb Stark, Lord Eddard Stark's heir, is proclaimed King in the North as the northmen and their allies in the Riverlands seek to return to self-rule. Likewise, Balon Greyjoy also (re-)claims the ancient throne of his own region, the Iron Islands, with an eye toward independence. This so-called War of the Five Kings is the principal storyline of the first four novels; indeed, the fourth novel primarily concerns Westeros's recovery from it in the face of the coming winter and the political machinations of those seeking to gain in its aftermath.

The second storyline is set on the extreme northern border of Westeros. Here, many thousands of years ago, a huge wall of ice and gravel was constructed by both magic and labor to defend Westeros from the threat of The Others, a race of now-mythical creatures living in the uttermost north. This Wall, 300 miles (480 km) long and 700 feet (210 m) tall, is defended and maintained by the Sworn Brotherhood of the Night's Watch, whose duty is to guard the kingdom against the Others. By the time of the novels, the Others have not been seen in over 8,000 years, and the Night's Watch has devolved into essentially a penal colony: it is badly under-strength, manned primarily by criminals and refugees with only a few knights or men of honor to stiffen them, and spends most of its time dealing with the human "wildlings" or "free folk" who live beyond the Wall. This storyline is told primarily through the eyes of Jon Snow, bastard son of Eddard Stark, as he rises through the ranks of the Watch, learns the true nature of the threat from the north, and prepares to defend the realm even though the people of Westeros are too busy warring to send support. By the end of the third volume, this storyline is somewhat entangled with the civil war to the south.

The third storyline is set on the huge eastern continent of Essos, across the narrow sea, and follows the adventures of Daenerys Targaryen, the last scion of House Targaryen and another claimant to the Iron Throne. Daenerys's adventures showcase her growing ability as she rises from a pauper sold into a dynastic marriage to a barbarian warlord to a powerful and canny ruler in her own right. Her rise is aided by the birth of three dragons, creatures thought long extinct, from fossilized eggs given to her as wedding gifts. Because her family standard is the dragon, these creatures are of symbolic value before they have grown big enough to be of tactical use. Though her story is separated from the others by many thousands of miles, her stated goal is to reclaim the Iron Throne.

Splitting Heroes Down the Middle By: Jonathan Cyfer

Splitting Heroes Down the Middle
By: Jonathan Cyfer

It's not completely unheard of to have a particular character appear both in a TV series and in films. After all, Clark Kent has enjoyed a robust lifetime on the silver screen and in the Smallville TV series. 2012 will bring us the latest Superman film, but it's presumed that the Smallville series will end after the conclusion of the current 2010/2011 season. This avoids confusion among the fans between the different incarnations and storylines involving the same character, however that isn't going to be the case with all superhero franchises.

I'm sure you're all aware of the latest Incredible Hulk (2008) film and the fact that this character (with a change of actors playing Bruce Banner) will be appearing in the upcoming Avengers (2012) film.

I just found out that a new, live action Incredible Hulk TV show is being developed for ABC. Many Hulk fans fondly remember the Hulk TV series (1978-1982) starring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno and I'm sure they are all overjoyed to hear that the emerald titan will be returning to the small screen, but it does bring up a problem. There will be two, more or less unrelated "Hulks" available for "consumption" between the films and television.

You're probably going "so what", but think about it.

Two different Hulks. Two different Bruce Banners. Two different casts, plots, storylines, and perhaps two different fates. The demands of each media form require that events unfold differently. By necessity, there must be different timeline, story, and character development paths between a Hulk that appears in your living room every week (horrors if I were being literal) and one you get to see only once every two or three years in movie theatres. We are used to attaching ourselves to our heroes in only one particular manner at a time.

In 1978, we loved and adored Christopher Reeve's Superman and for a generation, be became "the" Superman. In 2001, Tom Welling stepped into Clark Kent's shoes, if not Superman's boots, and became the "last son of Krypton" for the next generation...but they were two different generations. What will you do when you have to describe the Incredible Hulk to a non-fan? Which Hulk will you talk about?

You think that's bad, what happens if Batman really does become a weekly TV series? Who is Batman then...Christian Bale or...?

Denis Leary To Join Spider-Man Reboot

Denis Leary To Play Captain George Stacy

Denis Leary is negotiations to play the father of Emma Stone in Columbia’s new Spider-Man movie.

Stone is playing the love interest of Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) and Leary will play police Captain George Stacy, her father who frequently came into contact with the web-slinging superhero.

In Marvel Comics lore, Stacy perished in an accident during a battle between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus, an event that led Gwen Stacy to hate the hero.

Columbia and director Marc Webb are keeping the James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent-penned script under lock and key so it’s uncertain how faithful to the core story Leary’s version of the character will be.

Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Laura Ziskin are producing the movie, which begins shooting in December.

Beverly Hills Cop 4 Update-Don't Expect Anytime Soon

Don't Expect Anytime Soon

I for one would like to see this movie get fast tracked. On my top ten Favorite movies would have to be Beverly Hills Cop 2. The third movie should be whipped out of all our memory. Horrible movie!

Tired of Eddie Murphy making all these kids flick, I understand the pay checks are nice, But I would like to see him return to his old self with all the foul language and humor he once had.

Eddie Murphy and director Brett Ratner have been hanging out on Manhattan's Upper West Side recently, shooting exteriors outside the Trump International Hotel for their upcoming comedy, "Tower Heist."

During their downtime on the long-delayed film — when they're not enjoying some seriously fancy craft services courtesy of chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, whose acclaimed restaurant resides on Trump's ground floor — Ratner and Murphy have been discussing another long-in-the-works project: a fourth "Beverly Hills Cop" flick.

"Oh yeah, believe me, I'm all over it," Ratner told MTV News when asked if the duo chat about a new "BHC" film. "I am all over it."

Word of the project first dropped in the spring of 2008, with the primary motivator seemingly Murphy's desire to rescue the integrity of the franchise after a third installment that was, in the star's own words, "horrible."

But with an itch to resurrect a dormant franchise comes the pressure of creating a worthy successor rather than another stinker. And, as Ratner told us, Murphy is proceeding cautiously.

"He's sensitive about it," Ratner explained. "He made two great ones. The third one didn't really work. It's an important film for him. It's a character that's iconic. I don't think he goes anywhere in the world where someone — they're not going, 'Yo, Eddie Murphy,' they're like, 'Yo, Axel Foley!'

"It's his Clark Kent. His Darth Vader. His albatross," the director added. "He wants to go out with a bang."

But it is going to happen, right?

"It could. Hopefully he'll have a great experience with me on 'Tower Heist,' " Ratner said. "I'm happy he selected me as the guy to do it, but it's not an easy process and it's not going to be anytime soon."

13 Movie Trailer & International Poster

13 Movie Trailer Starring  Jason Statham & Mickey Rourke

First off let me say this looks like it is going to be one trippy film from what I get from watching the trailer. 13 is a 2010 English-language remake of the 2005 French film 13 Tzameti which I have never seen. The film is directed and written by Géla Babluani, who directed and wrote the original film.

The film stars  Mickey Rourke, Michael Shannon, Ray Winstone, 50 Cent and Jason Statham. As we speak there isn't a release date for this film. Could be headed straight to DVD.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One Premiere Photos

See The Common Trend

Less then a week away from one of the most anticipated film of the year to hit theaters Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One is released.  As you can see the trend in these photos I could care less about the male stars. Emma Watson is the star to me. And if I went to see the movie it would be to see her on screen not that dam Harry Potter guy.

These pictures were taken ate the London premiere last week. And according to Empire judging by the crowds last night in Leicester Square - some of which had camped out for three days in seriously unpleasant weather to be there- everyone's thrilled that we still have two films to go.

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint led the cast, along with the likes of Helena Bonham-Carter (whose gleefully insane Bellatrix gets another stand-out scene this time around), Clemence Poesy and Katie Leung. Author JK Rowling also attended this penultimate party for the series, as well as David Yates and all the creative team behind the movies.

MTV's Teen Wolf First Look And Trailer

MTV's Teen Wolf First Look And Trailer

The 1985 film starred Michael J. Fox as a teenager who discovers he is a werewolf. The MTV version will be set in high school, draw from the horror genre to explore werewolf mythology and include a romantic plot line.

"It has a fresh take and is very different from the original," said Liz Gateley, senior vp MTV series development. "It has more of an 'American Werewolf in London' feel to it. It's a dramatic thriller with two best friends in the center who provide a great comedy element: They are two very relatable characters on the outer circles of popular cliques."
“Teen Wolf,” stars Tyler Posey (“Maid in Manhattan,” “Brothers and Sisters”), as the newly bitten werewolf, ‘Scott McCall,’ Dylan O’Brien as his best friend ‘Stiles,’ Crystal Reed as the mysterious new girl in town, ‘Allison,’ and Tyler Hoechlin (“Road to Perdition,” “7th Heaven”) as the older and possibly quite dangerous werewolf, ‘Derek Hale.’ Always an outsider and often unnoticed, Scott McCall yearns to be recognized in some small way that takes him out of his typical state of high school anonymity. When his best friend, Stiles, convinces him to go into the woods one night to join a police search for a dead body, Scott encounters a creature in the darkness. Narrowly escaping an attack with a vicious bite in his side, the next day brings strange surprises for Scott at school and his life will never be the same.

The new "Wolf" was written by "Criminal Minds" creator Jeff Davis, who executive produces the pilot with Marty Adelstein (Fox's "Prison Break") and Rene Echevarria (ABC's "Castle").

Here is the original press release:

MTV SINKS ITS TEETH INTO “TEEN WOLF” SERIES GIVING REIMAGINED SPIN TO ORIGINAL FILM AND GREENLIGHTS BRITISH ACCLAIMED “SKINS” TO FOCUS ON TEEN LIFE IN NORTH AMERICA

SANTA MONICA, CA/NEW YORK, NY (May 20, 2010) – Filled with suspense, horror and the struggle to discover one’s true identity, MTV puts a modern spin on one of the most popular classic films of the eighties, MGM’s “Teen Wolf”. The reinvention comes alive as a sexy thriller set against the drama of high school life with a forbidden, romantic love story at its core. Additionally, MTV steers a fearless path with the greenlight of the North American adaptation of the U.K. drama series “Skins”. Both series greenlights were announced today by MTV President of Programming, Tony DiSanto. From the creator of “Criminal Minds,” Jeff Davis, and the executive producers of “The 4400,” Ren? Echevarria and “Prison Break,” Marty Adelstein, “Teen Wolf” will commence production this summer with 12 one-hour episodes. “Skins” will also begin production this summer with 10 one-hour episodes.

“We are always up for creative challenges at MTV,” said Liz Gateley, MTV Senior Vice President of Series Development. “We loved the conceit of the original film and knew the title had a great hook. The creative challenge was to take that title and reinvent it as a horror series for the MTV audience. It combines romance and high school to make ‘Teen Wolf’ the perfect thriller for MTV.”

Ms. Gateley continues, “Our goal in developing ‘Skins’ from the UK hit was to stay true to the core attributes and the creator-driven vision while also adapting it to be as relatable, real and reflective of high school life to American audiences as the original version has been to UK audience for 5 seasons. We’re thrilled to be bringing ‘Skins’ to MTV!”

David Janollari is Executive Vice President of Scripted Development. He joined MTV in January of this year to head up all new scripted development for the network with his sole focus on aggressively ramping up the scripted slate, raising the creative bar and seeking out fresh new concepts in a variety of genres. He will now partner with Ms. Gateley on “Teen Wolf” and “Skins”.

Mr. Janollari added, “MTV is serious about being in the scripted business, and these two new series are among the first steps in what will be a concentrated effort to add more scripted entertainment to our diverse slate, all created with our core demographic in mind. ‘Teen Wolf’ and ‘Skins’ offer youthful, broad-based entertainment that feel like a natural extension of the MTV brand and we believe will be relevant and resonate with our audience.”

Created by father and son team at Stormdog Films, Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain, the ground-breaking series “Skins” features an ensemble cast as they navigate complex relationships, the politics of friendship and difficulties of daily life in their formative years. Elsley will be writing and executive producing the adapted version? which, like the U.K version, will be largely influenced by teenagers. In 2009, MTV landed the US broadcast rights to the critically-acclaimed U.K. program.

Unknown teenagers have been cast in the lead roles and real teens will help write the storylines, similar to how Elsley wrote the UK series, now in its 5th season. The network will work collaboratively with the series producers to preserve the authenticity of the British version. The series, which aired on E4 in the UK, quickly became a commercial and critical success, winning the 2009 BAFTA Audience Award, which was voted on by the public, and Best Drama Series at the 2008 Broadcast Awards.

“Teen Wolf” is a co-production with MGM. The pilot was directed by Russell Mulcahy (“Highlander,” “Resident Evil: Extinction”) and written by Jeff Davis (creator of “Criminal Minds”). Executive Producers include Davis, Marty Adelstein (“Prison Break”) and Michael Thorn of Lost Marbles TV and Ren? Echevarria (“Medium,” “Castle”). Make up effects for the first season will be supplemented by the Oscar- Winning team K.N.B Effects Group (“Predators,” “The Chronicles of Narnia”) and state-of-the-art computer graphics by EdenFX (“Lost,” “24,” “Spider-Man 3″). Liz Gateley, David Janollari and Justin Levy will serve as MTV executives in charge of production.

“Skins” will be co-produced by E1 Entertainment and Company Pictures, a division of ALL3MEDIA, the same company that produces the Channel 4 series in the UK. Elsley will Executive Produce, along with Laszlo Barna and Michael Rosenberg from E1 and Charlie Pattinson and George Faber of Company Pictures. The deal was brokered by Greg Lipstone, of ICM, which represents Company Pictures and ALL3Media. Elsley is represented by Ted Miller at CAA. Liz Gateley and David Janollari will serve as MTV executives in charge of production.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Poster

Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)

Today must be teaser Monday, kinda feel like I'm back in High School. With all this teasing going on and all  news that has hit the web I feel I need a cold shower.

Splice the main brace and whatnot, me hearties, there be a teaser poster for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides yonder. Ahaaarr, yo-ho, etc.

Here is a snap shot of Captain Jack.

What does it tell us? Absolutely nothing. What we have here is the usual franchise image of the piratey skull on the crossed swords, against a black background. It could be the teaser for any of the previous three Pirates movies, if not for the material the skull is fashioned from.

View entire poster after the Jump..

That metallic sheen could suggest any number of likelihoods. Perhaps Jack Sparrow will find an island of pirate Terminators, or get his skeleton laced with adamantium (either of which we would totally pay to see). Possibly it hints at an encounter with the Silver Surfer, or, at a stretch (because those other suggestions are so plausible) with Chromeskull from Laid to Rest. Or maybe it's a metaphor for On Stranger Tides itself: an entry in a franchise that's comfortably familiar but slightly tweaked.

On Stranger Tides sees Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and Geoffrey Rush as Hector Barbossa, off in search of the Fountain of Youth, facing certain opposition from Ian McShane as the dastardly Blackbeard. Penelope Cruz, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Gemma Ward, Oscar Jaenada, Sam Clafin and Stephen Graham are also setting sail, with Rob Marshall at the helm. The film comes ashore next May.
