Calm Down There Is No Director For Justice League Film

Today that implies Warner Bros will get Ben Affleck as director of its Justice League film. This is a story I checked out days ago, and didn’t run when Affleck’s reps stated that it was not going to happen with him. Now, it makes sense that Warner Bros would offer Affleck the project. Chris Nolan is top man over there, but after three Batfilms and after producing the Superman reboot Man of Steel , he’s gotten spandex-clad protagonists out of his system. After Nolan , the studio then offers everything else to Harry Potter director David Yates (who is now keen on Tarzan) and Affleck, who has become a major director with Gone Baby Gone, The Town , and the upcoming Argo . Just because the studio wants Affleck doesn’t mean he will do the movie, and several sources tell me he might take a meeting, but that’s it. After costing himself momentum as an actor with some questionable choices like Gigli, Affleck admirably scripted a second act for himself with his writing and directing ski

David Goyer To Write Screenplay For Legendary Pictures Godzilla Reboot

David Goyer has worked with Thomas Tull's Legendary Pictures on both Chris Nolan's Batman trilogy and the new Superman reboot Man Of Steel . Now the in-demand writer will pen the screenplay, from a draft written by David Callaham, for Legendary Pictures’ new version of Godzilla. The project will fall under Legendary's overall agreement with Warner Bros while Toho Company, which own the rights to the oversized reptile, will distribute the film in Japan. Toho’s Godzilla franchise boasts one of the most widely recognized film creatures worldwide, resulting in a series of books, television programs, video games and more than 25 films worldwide. Legendary intends to approach the film and its characters in the most authentic manner possible and was smart to get a pro like Goyer on board so early in the process since he has so much experience creating franchises. Of course, Sony Pictures in 1998 tried to jumpstart a Godzilla franchise and that disappointed. And the first Godz

Xerxes Retitled 300: Battle of Artemisia

The producers of the 300 spinoff known as Xerxes have retitled their film 300: Battle of Artemisia , and they have also narrowed their focus of potential directors to two: Noam Murro and Jaume Collet-Serra . The film, a spinoff to 300, is one that the film's original director Zack Snyder was going to direct. That was until Warner Bros and producer Chris Nolan offered him Man of Steel , and Snyder and wife and producing partner Debra Snyder put Xerxes aside and moved on to rebooting the Superman franchise because Warner Bros needed it. The Snyders have been all over this director selection process. Snyder had written a script with his 300 cohort Kurt Johnstad. Like 300, it is based on a Frank Miller graphic novel that will be shot with the kind of stylized period green-screen action visuals that became the signature of 300 and helped the film gross $456 million worldwide. Xerxes was the Persian leader seen in 300. Miller's graphic novel told the story of how Xerxes b

The Dark Knight Rises Leading Lady Casting News

Who Would You Choose? Chris Nolan is lining up actresses he'll meet for two female lead roles in The Dark Knight Rises , the third installment of the Batfranchise which Warner Bros has dated release on July 20, 2012. I'm told one of the roles is a love interest for Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne, and the other is a villain. The actresses are: Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley . Nolan is keeping the roles under wraps, just the way that he did when he drafted his Inception star Tom Hardy to come aboard to likely play a villain. Deadline broke that story October 13. I'm still not sure what the role is and I believe Hardy took the job without knowing or reading a script that's still being tweaked. Please Leave A Comment- Source- Deadline

The Dark Knight Rises Against Who? By: Jonathan Cyfer

The Dark Knight Rises Against Who? By: Jonathan Cyfer Chris Nolan recently released the name of the third Batman film he will direct and also specifically stated that the Riddler will not be the villain . Early buzz targeted Johnny Depp for the Riddler role in the third Batman film but now we see this is not going to happen. So who will be the main bad guy or bad gal? We also recently learned that Nolan is looking for a female lead for this film, which immediately brings Catwoman to mind, but that's hardly a foregone conclusion, since Poison Ivy or Harley Quinn are equally (or almost) compelling choices. Also, the female lead doesn't have to be a villain, since there have been a number of "good girls" to work opposite Batman over the years such as Vicki Vale and Barbara (Batgirl) Gordon. Let me knock a few possibilities out of the running right away. Bringing in Harley without the Joker would be a total waste (and without Heath Ledger, there is no Joker a

Tom Hardy Cast As Lead In Batman 3

What Role Will Tom Hardy Play In Batman 3? While Tom Hardy 's plan to play Mad Max in the George Miller-directed Mad Max: Fury Road has hit another delay, the fast-rising Hardy's in the mix for another big film at Warner Bros. I'm told that Hardy has been set by his Inception director Chris Nolan for a lead role in the next Batman film at Warner Bros. Insiders are keeping the role secret and won't even say if he's up for a villain role, but that seems a reasonable assumption. Hardy has followed up Inception with lead roles in the Tomas Alfredson-directed adaptation of the John Le Carre novel Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, and he's currently starring with Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon in the McG-directed Fox comedy This Means War . The Other Guys Takes Down Inception

The Other Guys Takes Down Inception The US box office charts this weekend were taken over by a pair of bumbling, enthusiastic cops as Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg and director Adam McKay drove The Other Guys to the top spot and knocked the brain-itching former champ Inception down to second place. Ferrell in particular will be happy with the result, as it’s his most successful film for a while, notching up $35.6 million in its first three days. Chris Nolan won’t be too broken-hearted, though – Inception still managed to do decent business, raking in $18.6 million and placing well ahead of the week’s other wide new entry, Step Up 3D . The third dimension didn’t seem to boost to dance pic, which opened with $15.5 million. The remainder of the top five was made up of Salt , with $11.1 million, and Dinner for Schmucks , which dropped from second place with $10.5 million. Thanks to Schmucks, the middle of the charts is a Steve Carell-fest, with Despicable Me still showing strong legs,

Smallville And The Rebirth of Superman By Jonathan Cyfer

Smallville And The Rebirth of Superman By Jonathan Cyfer As just about all the superhero loving world knows, this coming Season of Smallville will be the last season. Depending on your level of Smallville "fanhood", your response to this news probably ranges from some minor sadness to virtually suicidal depression. The silver lining in the cloud of Kryptonite is that Chris Nolan ( The Dark Knight ) is at the helm of the Superman reboot film: Superman: The Man of Steel . So Smallville will end in Spring 2011 and the new Superman film will be released the following year. This begs the question of just how connected the two projects are. If you've watched the Smallville series and the Christopher Reeve Superman films, you know that a lot of the elements from the films made their way into the Smallville mythos. For instance, crystals seem to play an important role, and the Fortress of Solitude in the Arctic continues to ring with the voice of Jor-El. There's still

Christopher Nolan To Lend A Helping Hand To Superman Franchise

Christopher Nolan To Lend A Helping Hand To Superman Franchise Looks like Warner Bros. is trying to reboot the Superman franchise again, but the really big news is that they are enlisting the help of The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan Our insiders say that the brains behind rebooted Batman has been asked to play a "godfather" role and ensure The Man Of Steel gets off the ground after a 3 1/2-year hiatus. Nolan's leadership of the project can set it in the right direction with the critics and the fans, not to mention at the box office. ... Let us emphasize that Superman 3.0 is in the early stages of development. And we doubt Nolan would direct. This wouldn't be a sequel to Superman Returns but a completely fresh franchise. As one of our insiders reassures: "It would definitely not be a followup to Superman Returns." Please Leave A Comment- Source- deadline

Here Kitty Kitty Megan Fox To Be In Batman 3 As Catwoman?

Here Kitty Kitty Megan Fox To Be In Batman 3 As Catwoman? Hey It works for me she is not one of best actresses around but I could watch a movie with just her sitting in a chair. According to The Sun, Megan Fox is Slated to play Catwoman in the Next installment of the Batman Franchise. I believe that this is a Huge Rumor and take with a grain of Salt. For one thing, there's no script, and no one connected with the project has said a thing about Catwoman even being in the movie. Indeed, Nolan's more likely to select an adversary who hasn't had a lot of screen time in previous film incarnations of the comic-book franchise. For another, given Nolan's artfulness in reinventing the comic franchise each time out, it's extremely unlikely that he would hire an actress previously known primarily as eye candy for giant-robot fans to play what could be a psychologically complex villain and potential love interest for Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne/Batman, even if the char
