Horrible Bosses Sequel On It's Way

After more than half a year of negotiations, New Line has closed deals to reunite Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis for a sequel to Horrible Bosses , the surprise hit comedy released in 2011. Jamie Foxx is also likely to return and is negotiations to reprise his role as murder consultant Motherf---er Jones for the pic, which will see Seth Gordon back in the director's chair. The original movie saw Bateman, Day and Sudeikis as harried workers who, in Strangers on a Train meets Nine to Five fashion, try to off one another's bosses, with mixed results. Foxx mentored -- the term is used loosely -- the trio. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who worked on the first movie, penned the sequel. Colin Farrell, Jennifer Aniston and Kevin Spacey played the horrible bosses. Farrell’s character died in the movie, but Aniston's and Spacey’s did not. The sequel will have a brand new set of bosses, but there is room for Aniston and Spacey to make cameos. Th

N.W.A Biopic To Be Made "Straight Outta Compton"

N.W.A Biopic To Be Made "Straight Outta Compton" Rap is finally getting the Ray treatment. New Line is developing Straight Outta Compton, an urban drama about N.W.A. (a.k.a. Niggaz With Attitude), the hip hop group that helped pioneer the gangsta rap movement in the ’80s and early ’90s. The project will chronicle the rise and fall of the rap quartet, founded by Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and MC Ren, whose songs were so incendiary (i.e. "F— tha Police") they were banned from radio playlists but still sold millions of albums. Then came the inevitable fiery breakup, a grudge match between the former bandmates, and Eazy-E’s tragic death due to AIDS. The film’s producers, which include Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Tomica Wright (Eazy-E’s widow), and Circle of Confusion entertainment, are now actively searching for a director along the lines of Curtis Hanson (8 Mile). Harold and Kumar Come Together For Another Film

Harold and Kumar Come Together For Another Film Get ready for another film in the Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle franchise. New Line has set a summer date on the third installment of the franchise. New Line has set a summer start date on the third installment of the Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle franchise, with the Warner Bros-based company about to hire a director, and seriously considering doing the film in 3D. The film is Christmas-themed, giving Warner Bros a nice R-rated holiday release for 2011 or 2012. The biggest significance is that the start date signals the return of Kal Penn, who put his career on hold to take the position of associate director of the White House Office Of Public Engagement. The politically conscious actor gave up a lot to take the job--his doctor character, Lawrence Kutner, was killed off from the Fox drama House--but it was done with the understanding that he'd commit to the position for one year. As to the idea of leaving a prestige

"Hobbit" Delayed Until Late 2012

"Hobbit" Delayed Until Late 2012 Looks like the film is being delayed yet again, studio said 2012 then Peter Jackson came out and said that those rumblings weren't true, that it would get the 2011 release date as planned. But here is the news from the studio and we are now back till 2012 Once the script for the second film is in -- Jackson and his longtime collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are working on it with Del Toro -- New Line will work up a budget for both films and start casting. New Line exec Michael Disco, who was once Emmerich's assistant, will oversee for the studio. Horn won't predict when the first of the two "Hobbit" films will be out, but says the most probable scenario would be a release in the fourth quarter of 2012. Del Toro Updates Hobbit Info

Del Toro Updates Hobbit Info The highly decorated director writes: So, now that PJ’s Lovely Bones tour is almost over, I thought it wise- seeing how some can whip up into a frenzy- to drop by and chat a bit. A) About ONLY 3 actors returning: I think the emphasis on “only” is what slant the news the wrong way. I cannot imagine Gollum being played by anyone but Andy and in the second script there is still much in discussion to lock everything for now. Both PJ and I chime in on things “as they are at the moment” and, of course, things change. I, for one, understand where Peter’s coming from since 30% of my STRAIN tour questions, HELLBOY II, ORPHANAGE promotion questions, etc, etc where about the Hobbit. At different time we have been closer in locking on a piece of casting or hoping to get a script delivered, etc and things simply changed as we went along. So, don’t etch this in stone or anything we both have said in the past, in stone since we communicate what we can when the window of e

The Hobbit Movie Gets Delayed

The Hobbit Movie Gets Delayed Several reports are coming in that filming for The Hobbit will be delayed from the original estimate of March 2010 to mid-summer 2010, possibly July. The German site, moviereporter.net, reports that, as part of an interview regarding The Lovely Bones, PJ estimates filming will begin towards the middle of next year: “We’re currently working on the second script which we hope to have completed by the end of this year or beginning of next. When the scripts are completed, we can begin with the exact calculation of the necessary budget. We hope to start filming in the middle of next year. However, we’ve received no green light from the studio yet.” (- translated from German – read the original quote here). PJ didn’t elaborate on whether this will affect the proposed release dates of December 2011 and 2012. More than two years elapsed between the start of filming for The Lord of the Rings movies in October, 1999, and the release of The Lord of the Rings: T

Sir Ian McKellen Talks About X-Men and The Hobbit

Sir Ian McKellen Talks About X-Men and The Hobbit First up: The Hobbit . It’s been known for some while now that Sir Ian would be reprising his role as Gandalf (the Grey variety this time) for Guillermo del Toro’s Lord of the Rings prequel. But he had a few additional titbits to spill this time around. “The scripts for the two films will be delivered very soon,” he revealed. “Then they'll be budgeted, and then they'll be cast. And they'll be going when they've always said they would be, which is next spring – March or April. Guillermo even told me at one point, 'We're going to film for 383 days. There’s been fervent speculation about the possible return of other Rings cast members, with the likes of Legolas and Aragorn in the frame for cameos, but Sir Ian isn’t convinced. Of course, we fully expect Hugo Weaving to pop up as Elrond, but that announcement will doubtless come in due course. In the meantime, we couldn’t let Sir Ian – who was at San Sebastian to pic

Another "Vacation" Movie In The Works

Another "Vacation" Movie In The Works Do we really need another Vacation movie? They have killed this Franchise to death. Christmas Vacation 2 Was one of the worst movies that have ever been put out. I did enjoy European Vacation and Christmas Vacation was great with all the lights and was a pretty entertaining movie for its time. Will Anthony Michael Hall be in the movie as Rusty or Ethan Embry maybe coming back? The Warner Bros. division is developing a sequel of sorts to the 1983 comedy classic, with David Dobkin attached to produce and possibly direct. New Line is meeting with writers to write the script but the take is already developed: the story focuses on Rusty Griswold, the son of Clark Griswold, the protagonists of the initial movies and portrayed by Chevy Chase. The younger Griswold is now a father in his own right and takes his family on a road trip vacation. The characters would acknowledge that first trip, making the movie more of a sequel than a reboot. Hobbit Movie Moving Forward

Hobbit Movie Moving Forward Another hurdle to Guillermo del Toro's The Hobbit has fallen: MGM, one of the studios producing the movies, has reportedly come up with enough cash to move forward with the production, which was in jeopardy as late as last week. According to The Hollywood Reporter: A recent proposal by MGM's new CEO Steve Cooper to defer interest payments on its debt load for the next three months on Thursday won a crucial endorsement from J.P. Morgan. The investment firm leads a lenders steering committee that has been agitating for a dramatic restructuring of the Lion's operations and its ownership structure. In exchange for an agreement to limited interest forbearance, J.P. Morgan secured a few changes in existing debt terms. Concern over MGM's hold on Hobbit is at the heart of the activity. In a 50-50 rights partnership with Warner Bros.' New Line unit, two Hobbit pics are being developed. The first Hobbit movie is eyeing a 2011 release date. Ot

Here comes " The Hobbit " Rings Lawsuit Settled

Here comes " The Hobbit " Lord Of The Rings Lawsuit Settled The Tolkien Trust , New Line and HarperCollins have settled a suit by the trust over the gross profit participation of JRR Tolkien's heirs from “ The Lord of the Rings " trilogy. Terms of the settlement, announced Tuesday, were confidential. The case had been set to go to trial on Oct. 19 in Los Angeles Superior Court. The trust said Tuesday that the settlement will allow New Line's two films based on Tolkien's " The Hobbit " to go forward. Shooting is expected to start on the pics next year with Guillermo Del Toro directing. The Tolkien Trust and HarperCollins filed the suit in February 2008, alleging New Line had failed to pay at least $220 million to members of the trust. The plaintiffs had asserted that under a 1969 contract, the trust and other plaintiffs are entitled to 7.5% of gross receipts from the films and related products, minus certain costs. The plaintiff has also sought a de
