Arbitrage Review. You Will Be Surprised

 Arbitrage Review
By: MattInRC

Arbitrage is a thriller that ignores convention with an ending that might surprise you in its arrogance.

On the surface, hedge fund Robert Miller (Richard Gere, The Double) appears to have it all. He's the king of finance, having been richly rewarded for his investment schemes and the center of attention during a CNBC interview; and, he is a happily-married father, celebrating his 60th birthday surrounded by wife Ellen (Susan Sarandon, Thelma and Louise) and daughter Brooke (Brit Marling, Another Earth) . But, hidden underneath that thick facade are some painful realities: he's desperate to sell the company before both his clients and the FTC realize that he's lost millions of dollars, and even his marriage is a sham, furthered by his ongoing affair with a struggling French artist (newcomer Laetitia Casta) whom he supports. When Miller and girlfriend are involved in a fatal car accident, he calls an unlikely source, the son of his former driver Jimmy Grant (Nate Parker, The Great Debaters) to transport him home. But soon, the police and Detective Michael Bryer (Tim Roth, Reservoir Dogs) begin to suspect Miller, leading them right back to Miller's savior Grant. On the deadline of his life, Miller must juggle between hiding his affair from the police, hiding the financial records of his company in time to sell it, and hiding all of this from Ellen and Brooke.

Gere is perfectly cast here, portraying his role with a quality that makes the audience wonder why they're rooting for him. But root for him we do, and that's the key to Gere's acumen as an actor. His ability to blur the lines of his characters is a strength few have; and while Saradon is impressive in getting the last laugh, it's Gere who keeps our attention as the man who's just trying to save his company and family. Director and Writer Nicholas Jarecki (The Informers) keeps the story moving by employing a nice supporting cast including Roth, Marling, and Parker, all of whom give the audience critical breaks away Gere to appreciate his return. Jarecki gives Grant some of the best lines in the film, while deftly exposing Roth's anti-rich philosophy at just the right time. There's not much difference between Arbitrage and another Fall film The Words, except that Jarecki has done a better job of casting, which in this case makes all the difference in the world. He also does a better job of exposing the real class differences in our country, those which allow the rich to seemingly deflect disaster by using the poor to achieve their means. Have a problem? Solve it with money. This is Miller's world, and even though his declaration near film's end to Grant seems like a reward for loyalty, we still feel like we need a shower afterwards.

Arbitrage is the kind of thriller that doesn't make a distinction between right and wrong. Much like life, it seeks to prove that resolutions are usually not the result of one man pushing a button in time to save the world, nor does the Bad Guy always lose, shattered under the shiny boot of Right. Too often, Hollywood encourages this false perception, one that Arbitrage flatly ignores. The ending will surprise audiences, not because of any pre-conceived shock value, but in its arrogance in suggesting that Gere is smarter than anyone else, ultimately getting away with almost every problem he caused. And much like real life, Gere's character pays a high price in slithering his way out. As he stands before a crowd to accept an award from the buyer of his company, the weight of what Miller has done is telling on his face. For me, that ecapsulates Arbitrage, a thriller that deserves people's attention, even if the ending isn't politcally correct. Arbitrage is rated R for language, and adult/sexual situations, and has a runtime of 100 minutes.

Win A Copy INDIANA JONES: The Complete Adventures

All four films in the epic and award-winning Indiana Jones franchise will be available together in high definition when INDIANA JONES: The Complete Adventures debuts on Blu-ray on Tuesday, September 18th!

And SandwichJohnFilms will be giving away 5 copies to some of our lucky readers.

In June of 1981 director Steven Spielberg and executive producer George Lucas introduced the world to Indiana Jones when the unforgettable Raiders of the Lost Ark debuted in theaters. Exploding to instant acclaim, the film has now been carefully restored, alongside remastered versions of the archaeologist’s other thrilling adventures—Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Prepare for excitement, adventure and snakes—why did it have to be snakes?—all with pristine picture and sound when INDIANA JONES: The Complete Adventures debuts on Blu-ray September 18, 2012 from Lucasfilm Ltd. and Paramount Home Media Distribution.

Supervised by director Steven Spielberg and renowned sound designer Ben Burtt, Raiders of the Lost Ark has been meticulously restored with careful attention to preserving the original look, sound and feel of the iconic film. The original negative was first scanned at 4K and then examined frame-by-frame so that any damage could be repaired.

The sound design was similarly preserved using Burtt’s original master mix, which had been archived and unused since 1981. New stereo surrounds were created using the original music tracks and original effects recorded in stereo but used previously only in mono. In addition, the sub bass was redone entirely up to modern specifications and care was taken to improve dialogue and correct small technical flaws to create the most complete and highest quality version of the sound possible while retaining the director’s vision. The result is an impeccable digital restoration that celebrates the film and its place in cinematic history.

The installments in the franchise have won a combined seven Academy Awards®. Relive every heart-pounding thrill like never before as all four films arrive together, for the first time presented in 1080p high definition with English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio accompanied by a collection of documentaries, interviews, featurettes and new bonus features.

Pacific Rim Gets 3D Conversion Against Directors Choice

While its action-heavy giant robots-battle-massive-monsters scale might have seemed perfect for 3D (despite the drawbacks of the format), Guillermo del Toro has been on record as preferring not to give Pacific Rim the stereographic treatment. Well, it would appear that Warners has other ideas and is already post-converting the movie.

The film was shot in 2D and will have to go through the usual process, which, with del Toro overseeing things, should hopefully not end up in a Clash Of The Titans murk-fest situation. The release date is currently still set for next July, so that should leave enough time to do a proper job.

Pacific Rim finds Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam and Charlie Day as the humans engaged in a battle against invading alien beasties. They’re called upon to pilot a huge human defence ‘bot – a Jaeger- to stop the marauding nasties from wiping us all out.

Del Toro showed a small fragment of the movie off to impressive effect at this year’s Comic-Con, but we’ll have to wait a little while to see the first trailer.

300 Prequel Gets It's Name Straight

Formerly known by the working title of 300: The Battle of Artemisia, the film will now be called 300: Rise Of An Empire, the studio said today. The Legendary Pictures film is scheduled to come out on August 2, 2013.

Similar to 2006’s Zack Snyder-directed 300, the prequel is based on a Frank Miller graphic novel on Greek legend. Noam Murro is directing Rise Of An Empire. Rodrigo Santoro resumes his role from the first 300 as the Persian king Xerxes. Sullivan Stapleton plays the Athenian general Themistocles.

Transformers 4 Logo & Update

Transformers fansite TFW2005.com recently attended the UBS Best Of Americas 2012 Conference, where Hasbro president Brian Goldner talked about the company's plans for the future – including Transformers 4 and Stretch Armstrong.

The key point taken from his otherwise toy-centric speech is that fans can expect brand new robot characters in the next film, if only because sales of the plastic children distracters for the third film were somewhat disappointing.

"Transformers: Dark Of The Moon did well in box office," says Goldner. "Regarding toy sales... it’s because of same characters in all three movies. This is why Transformers 4 will have a new cast of [robot] characters and it will be a story revolving around these new characters."

Another key tidbit Goldner let slip was that Stretch Armstrong will have a movie as well as a TV series in 2014, but it was the chance to speculate about which new robots Transformers addicts can look forward to seeing smashing stuff up in the upcoming fourquel that really got people excited.

As they were seen in the surprisingly good video game tie-in, Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron, perhaps there might dinobots this time around. For those not in the know about dinobots, they're essentially transformers that change into a dinosaur or similar prehistoric animal. Think Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, that sort of thing.

Of course, that will require some complex plot jiggerypokery from Michael Bay and company, but as this is a reboot (of a sort) then it's best not to rule anything out at this point.

Transformers 4 is set for a 2014 release, though no specific dates have been announced yet.

Entourage Script Is Complete

The Entourage bad boys are almost back. Exactly one year ago, the HBO series ended its eighth and final season with soap opera schmaltz but also a Hollywood cliffhanger: agent Ari Gold as a newly minted studio mogul. That obviously set up the movie which Entourage creator Doug Ellin wanted to write one day. Well, I can now report that’s sooner rather than later: Ellin is on page 110 of his screenplay and “gonna finish by Sunday (I pray)”,  Ellin notes that no one wants to see the movie greenlighted by HBO more than the series’ WME packaging agent Ari Emanuel (the prototype for Gold) and executive producers Mark Wahlberg and Steven Levinson. Ellin says that Wahlberg keeps promising “to kill me if I don’t write faster. Every time I see him, Mark says, ‘I’ve made 5 movies this year. Get going!”

Ellin explains that he first needed time off after spending “10 years of my life” on the TV series that premiered on HBO in 2004. In the meantime, Ellin is under an overall deal at HBO and continued to develop for the pay cable network. He did an HBO comedy pilot starring Ed Burns that wasn’t picked up. Ellin and his producing partner Jim Lefkowitz also developed another HBO project, the boxing drama Da Brick, with Spike Lee and Mike Tyson and John Ridley. When Ellin got down to penning the Entourage screenplay, he told me he felt “renewed momentum”.

He says his script starts about 6 months after the TV series leaves off. “There are interesting developments about Ari as a studio head, and that’s still the first page for me. But foremost is the friendship between the guys who are still hanging out and going to fun parties, and it continues with the same characters.” Ellin has kept in touch with all the key castmembers: Jeremy Piven (“Ari”), Adrian Grenier (“Vince”), Kevin Dillon (“Drama”), and especially Kevin Connolly (“E”) and Jerry Ferrara (Turtle”) who are two of Ellin’s closest friends. Those Entourage actors have been getting other gigs while HBO has been paying Ellin for the script.

HBO brass Richard Plepler and Michael Lombardo have cautioned publicly that they’ve only heard “a very general pitch” and need to read the completed script and make deals with the cast before deciding to go forward. Ellin is optimistic. “I’m excited. I feel a lot of positive energy,” he tells me. “Everywhere I go, people ask me, ‘Where’s the movie?’”

The Entourage feature will have similar Hollywood send-ups and snark which have been missing from the HBO sked but also from the TV landscape in general. That’s because it’s tough to write a good showbiz sitcom or dramedy or 120-minute motion picture. Certainly Entourage had its ups and downs quality-wise. I was mixed in my assessment over the years, alternately castigating it for not showing the down and dirty Hollywood, and occasionally praising it for less predictability and more realism. But with the Jewish High Holy Days coming, I’ll always recall my favorite Entourage episode: the one that had Ari doing business in the temple aisles during Yom Kippur services. (‘The Return Of The King’ was written by Ellin and Brian Burns.) And I’m grateful to Ellin for replacing Variety with Deadline Hollywood as the showbiz must-read. (That Season 6 scene was a shocker when agent Terence says to Ari Gold, “I’ll fuck Nikki Finke before I let her affect my business decisions.”) In fact, Ellin recently emailed: “I have you in a scene currently. The world wants you on camera!”

The vast majority of Entourage fans want an R-rated movie with an abundance of broads and boobs and cameos by genuine Hollywood bigwigs as well as decent plotting and character arcs. Hopefully, Ellin has written that and more. So it’s worth repeating the warning I posted a year ago, “Goodbye Entourage as a TV series. Now just don’t come back as an embarrassingly lame movie.”

Heathers Is Coming To Bravo

Veronica Sawyer is coming to Bravo!

No, she’s not a Real Housewife just yet, but Bravo has announced that they want you to watch what happens as they delve into scripted television with a series based on the 1988 teen classic, Heathers. The show will take place in the present day, and will have Veronica (the Winona Ryder character from the film) move back to Sherwood with her teenage daughter. The daughter must deal with a new generation of high school drama in the form of the Plastics “Ashleys,” the daughters of the surviving Heathers.

The show is being executive produced by Mark Rizzo (The Man Date, Zip) and Jenny Bicks (The Big C, Men In Trees).

But that’s not all of Bravo’s scripted series news: The network is also development The Apartment, a drama about two siblings who “rent out [their late mother's] beautiful Upper West Side apartment to people who want a private space to have their own extra-marital affairs,” according to a press release.

Other shows include The Darlings, based on the novel by Cristina Alger, and All American Girl, a drama looking at women from three different time periods who work at the magazine, All American Girl.
“Through our growing slate of scripted development, we plan to build upon the success of our award-winning unscripted programming, accessing and exploring new worlds and characters while still engaging the same affluent and pop culture savvy audience that watches the Real Housewives and Top Chef,” said Andrew Wang, Vice President for Scripted Development and Production, in a release. “We’re excited to partner with such high caliber talent in developing TV that pushes boundaries conceptually and thematically while still telling a fun story in the way that our audiences have come to expect from us.”

For seasoned actor Eric McCormack, the role of Terrance Shade was one of the most challenging of his career. Appearing in virtually every scene, it was both a physically and emotionally demanding role for McCormack. As a busy psychiatrist, Terrance is struggling to adjust to life as a widowed father whose main concern is the safety and well-being of his young children. The children, as well, must come to grips with having lost their principal caretaker, a fun-loving and devoted mother and, at the same time, get closer to a father they’ve never truly bonded with.

“One of the interesting things about Barricade,” notes director Andrew Currie, “is you are never really sure what’s real. What he’s seeing, at a certain point, he realizes is possibly not quite true. So, that becomes really exciting.”

A holiday in the mountains is an opportunity for the Shade family to accept their tragic loss and start anew. Little do they know they’ll all be tested in unimaginable ways. Apart from their fun-filled first night at the cabin and a snowball fight the following morning, the family experiences events that would frighten the most fearless. The harrowing ordeal they are faced with, and ultimately survive, forces Terrance to overcome his fears and truly understand what it means to be a parent.

Wreck-It Ralph Trailer. Even Better Then The First

Everything we’ve seen so far from Wreck-It Ralph has us anticipating great things of Disney’s latest ‘toon. The latest trailer for the video game-set adventure is online courtesy of Yahoo and you can gain a power up by watching the footage above.

Wreck-It Ralph finds the titular character (voiced by John C Reilly) bored after decades of doing same job – smashing a building as his game’s villain – and be hated for simply doing what he was programmed to do.

Watch the trailer after the Jump...

So he decides to hop into other games to try to become a hero. Among the worlds he visits are Hero’s Duty (which features Jane Lynch as a tough-assed sergeant) and candy-coated racing game Sugar Rush, where he meets a chatty “glitch” named Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman). Together, they learn that being an outcast is much easier if you’ve got a friend to share it with.

But there’s little time for schmaltzy bonding as Ralph has also brought something else with him, unbeknownst to our hero. Something very dangerous…

We’re definitely ready to see this one, as it comes loaded with Simpsons / Futurama-level in-jokes thanks to director David Silverman and also boasts the tonsil talents of Jack McBrayer, Dennis Haysbert, Mindy Kaling and Alan Tudyk.

Blade Runner 30th Anniversary Blu-ray Trailer

Following in the footsteps of Total Recall, Jaws and Lawrence Of Arabia's Blu-ray trailers comes this surprisingly not high definition teaser for Ridley Scott's sci-fi masterpiece, Blade Runner.

Forgoing the 1080p quality YouTubers are longing for, the WarnerBrosOnline account has instead gone for 480p, which may look a little blocky on larger screens.

If you're willing to forgive it that, this re-cut trailer sees some interesting editing and some unexpecting echoing ("More human than human is our motto... motto... motto...") that may well make your online ordering finger itching to buy the special 30th anniversary Blu-ray once it hits shelves on October 29 - even if there's no hint of the much-loved Vangelis score.

Then again, the original theatrical trailer isn't the best of its kind, clocking in at over three minutes and not really explaining anything about the film... at all.

TITANIC BLU-RAY Review. One Of The Best Of The Year

By: MattInRC

The overrated Titanic delivers an impressive transfer with enough supplements to fill a cabin hold. But does it make the movie any better?

It's clear that one of the most debated films of our generation continues to be Titanic. Over-hyped and over-rewarded at both the box office and at the Oscars, the ultimate historical disaster film somehow snubbed more deserving films L.A. Confidential and Good Will Hunting. In fact, many might suggest that the Oscars themselves became lost at sea in 1997 by either honoring actors for previous work rather than for the current film in which they starred, or failing to understand the difference between a high-grossing film and good film. But it was Titanic which started it all, and its release this week onto Blu-ray will no doubt spawn new discussions along those same lines.

The Movie - 3.5/5
After winning a trip on the RMS Titanic during a card game, Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio, Shutter Island) meets the beautiful society girl Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet, Quills) who is on her way to marry the wealthy Cal Hockley (Billy Zane, Back to the Future series). Distraught at the idea of marrying someone she does not love, Rose attempts to commit suicide by jumping off the ship, only to be rescued by Dawson. After Jack suffers in the presence of Cal's elite friends, part of Cal's 'thank you' for saving Rose, she and Dawson escape to enjoy a night of wild dancing and the two begin to fall in love. Later, Rose asks Jack (who sketches for a living) to sketch a nude portrait of her holding a precious blue diamond, courtesy of Cal who later locks Jack up. Oh yes, there's the slight issue of an iceberg, and as the fates of all aboard hang in the balance, Jack and Rose must locate each other as the ship begins to sink.

Watching this cry-fest was one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do. I honestly can't imagine how the guys ever get through it without wanting to scratch your eyes out. Granted, Kate Winslet is beautiful, and DiCaprio will one day win an Oscar, but it's the love story at the sacrifice of history which pains me. The performances of the supporting cast are very good yet certainly nothing to speak of; but Director James Cameron's vision certainly deserves the nod in terms of scope and keeping the look as grand as the Titanic itself. Cameron (Aliens) is one of the greatest directors of all time, producing some of the most memorable works of our generation; but Titanic in my opinion will always be the most overrated film of all time.

The Video - 5/5

Titanic sails into an MPEG 4/AVC transfer that's one of the best of the year. I can find absolutely nothing wrong with its quality, which is as sharp as any I've ever seen. Period pieces always seem to benefit the greatest when a transfer is done right, because the colors and detail of costumes and backgrounds get their chance to show off. Titanic is no different, displaying every tablecloth, tuxedo, and ship feature with amazing clarity and color. Women in general get the better end here, as their hair, skin tone, and other 'features' stand out even as the ship goes down. There's no edge enhancement, banding, alias, or pixelation to speak of; and it appears Cameron used the mother of all master prints to produce this transfer. Shadows and bright lights complement one another, never allowing one to swallow up the other. From a technical perspective, the old world of 1912 comes across as beautiful as anything on Blu-ray. In the end, it's a stunning piece of work.

The Audio - 5/5
Titanic comes complete with a lossless HD DTA Master Audio 5.1 track that handles everything that the film throws at it. Every water slosh, crowd applause, and scream is as clear as a bell. The LFE gets a good workout near the film's end, as the ship begins to tear itself a part, like a giant animal dying front of us. Every exploding piece of planking, each thunderous smash of the aft upon the icy water is probably more powerful than when it was experienced in theaters. While dialogue isn't tested against action until near film's end, it never gets sucked up by the tragic events surrounding it. The score by Composer James Horner (Star Trek II) sounds more pristene than ever before; and although I cannot stand Celine Dion's theme at the end, I must give credit to how clear the entire thing sounds.

The Supplements - 5/5
Boasting one of the best set of supplements I've ever seen, Titanic comes complete with an entire Blu-ray disc of extras, as well as three commentaries on the feature disc itself. All in all, this combination is provides a thorough backgound to the film. Check out all the extras which appear below:
Disc 1
Audio Commentaries - Three different commentaries with Cameron, cast, and crew. Among some of the insights shared include the near 'miscasting' of actor Victor Garber (Alias) and the intricacies of shooting the sinking sequence. There's a lot to like within these commentaries, so take a moment to peruse some, if not all, of them.
Disc 2
Reflections on Titanic (HD, 1:03:47) - This four-part featurette covers the filming, editing, and public reaction to what Producer John Landau called 'the last great epic.' Nearly every element is covered here, and if you're a fan you'll appreciate all the various elements, including how Hollywood responded to the spiraling budgetary concerns. Everyone (except DiCaprio) is re-assembled to share in their memories, and it's nice to see how the film was restored for the 3D experience, which then led to the Blu-ray release.
Titanic: The FInal Word with James Cameron (HD, 1:36:16) - The director and eight experts gather to discuss what really happened to the Titanic. The team treats the sinking site like a crime scene, introducing relevant evidence and rejecting the rest. There's a collection of interesting dive footage and insightful CGI recreations, as the team seeks to uncover what really happened on April 15, 1912.
Deleted and Extended Scenes (HD, 57:32) - Fans will really enjoy these scenes, as there's an option to play Cameron's comments as each scene is presented. There are too many to mention here, but trust me: if you like deleted scenes, there's plenty to like here.
Behind the Scenes (SD) - Ported over from the DVD release, fans will enjoy features like 1912 Morph Transition VFX (1:04), Boiler Room Flooding (0:42), and Southampton Flop (1:24). If you can get past the SD, the featurettes are interesting.
Construction Timelapse (SD, 4:20) - This is an amazing feature showing how the set ship grew out of the waters of Mexico in only 100 days by as many as 500 workers.
Deep Dive Presentation (SD, 15:30) - Cameron takes us through the Titanic wreckage, showing us his passion for exploring shipwrecks.
$200,000,001: A Ship's Odyssey - A gag reel of missteps by the actors.
Videomatics (SD, 3:26) - Broken into three excerpts, we learn how the creative team imagined the look of the film.
Visual Effects (SD, 7:22) - There are four featurettes here, from constructing the first class lounge to the Titanic Sinking Simulation
Music Video (SD, 4:46) - Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" is presented.
Trailers (SD/HD) - Six trailers over the course of the film's life and journey into Blu-ray are featured.
TV Spots (SD, 2:33) - These are commercials advertising the film.
Still Galleries (HD) - Six subsections appear here, each one telling another interesting aspect of the film. I think only hardcore fans of the movie will appreciate it, but try it even if your interest is passive.
Titantic Parodies (SD/HD, 9:38) - MTV's '1998 Movie Awards Skit," "Saturday Night Live Skit from 1999," "'Titanic' in 30 Seconds"
Credits (2005)
Our advance copy included an embossed slipcover, as well as a two-disc DVD. two-disc Blu-ray, and a Digital Copy code. There's no interior artwork, but that's a minor detail here considering the breadth of material presented. Fans can also purchase a much larger set, which comes in a Titanic-looking case with other goodies inside.

The Final Word - 4/5
Supported by one of the best audio and video transfers of the year, as well as the deepest collection of Supplements since Blade Runner, Titanic's arrival onto the Blu-ray market is as spectacular as the ship that sailed only once before meeting a tragic end. Too bad the love story is given so much attention, but this home release is one of the best of the year.

Fast Six Set Pictures. Threes A Crowd

When the colossally entertaining Fast Five ram-raided our cinemas and made off with $620m, some pick 'n' mix and half a box of nachos, it was only a matter of time before studio bosses revved up the franchise for a sixth outing. Fast Six is now well under way and looking like delivering all the thrills, spills and weaponised pectorals you could possibly hope for.

It's still early days but Vin Diesel's Facebook page - 2000 per cent more macho than ours - features a couple of new snaps from the movie. One features the original trio Dominic Toretto (Diesel), Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) and Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) in the kind of face-off than usually ends in cities being abandoned.

Fast Six is scheduled for US release on May 24, 2013.

Star Trek Sequel Gets A Name

Throw away your "Untitled Star Trek Sequel." Forget all about "Star Trek 2." None of these stand-in titles for J.J. Abrams' follow-up to his 2009 reboot matter anymore because we may finally have an official one, "Star Trek Into Darkness."

The title saga goes all the way back to January when the sequel began production in an official capacity. While many assumed the usual "2" treatment, that would prove problematic for the "Star Trek" franchise, since there is already a "II," and it's the best one.

Then at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Damon Lindelof explained that a title was harder to crack than they originally thought, considering that a "2" was out of the question and because of the creative team's dislike for "colon" titles. (Sorry to all those hoping and praying for "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Cumberbatch.")

"There's no word that comes after the colon after 'Star Trek' that's cool," Lindelof said. "Not that 'Star Trek: Insurrection' or 'First Contact' aren't good titles, it's just that everything that people are turned off about when it comes to 'Trek' is represented by the colon."

Toward the end of last week TrekMovie.com learned that Abrams had finally decided on a title with the implication being that we would soon find out. The movie is only eight months from release, after all.

Shortly thereafter, ComingSoon.net uncovered registered domains in the name "Star Trek Into Dark," and TrekMovie.com later confirmed the title.

So there you (may) have it. As promised, "Star Trek Into Darkness" doesn't lean on the omnipresent colon, and instead opts for a more "Die Hard"-esque completing of phrase, which gave us some ideas for future series titles. Coming in 2016: "Star Trek With a Vengeance, and in 2020: "A Good Day to Star Trek."

Nemo 3D Review. Was It Better In 3D?

Nemo 3D Review
By: MattInRC

A Pixar classic returns in a 3D that's finally watchable.

Most movies that have sought an audience in 3D have simply frustrated those of us who wished for something better. Marred by stuttering pans or too many in-your-face-for-shock-value effects, 3D has been relegated to the realm of 'don't call us, we'll call you' when it came time to shell out the extra cash. With the re-release of Pixar's Finding Nemo in 3D, audiences finally have a reason to celebrate.

While there's no new footage in the re-release, audiences should still re-discover the adventures of Marlin, Nemo, Dory, and the fish tank captives as they come alive in 3D. The ocean floor never looked so beautiful, Bruce's shark teeth never so fearsome, and Nigel's feathers never as realistic as displayed here. In many ways, the Disney-Pixar partnership might have found the right recipe for creating believable 3D that heretofore has eluded the industry.

Throw in a very funny 2D Toy Story short called Partysaurus Rex, about a bathtub party gone horribly wrong, and you have a great family night out to relive a great classic in the now-very cool 3D. Both Partysaurus Rex and Finding Nemo are rated G, and come highly recommended.
