BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

#BoxOffice Report: #MissionImpossible Tops Bad #FantasticFour

The Fantastic Four utterly fails as Ethan Hunt triumphs again. Story by Matt Cummings In a devastating blow to one of 20th Century Fox's tentpoles, The Fantastic Four drew one of the lowest opening box office tallies for a super hero film, bringing in just $26.2 million from 3,995 US theaters. That's after receiving a crushing 8% from Rotten Tomatoes critics and a tidal wave of poor audience feedback including a 'C-' from CinemaScore. Perhaps what's more surprising is that the Tom Cruise spy action/thriller Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation easily won the weekend box office with an estimated $29.4 million from 3,988 theaters. That down just 48% from its opening, bringing its 10-day total to $109.5m. We were estimating a much closer race, and perhaps even a defeat for Ethan Hunt and his IMF team. There's little doubt that Josh Trank's film was torpedoed both internally and externally, capping off with a Tweet on Thursday by the directo

Inside the Bucket Podcast #71

This week's episode of Inside the Bucket is online! Revel in the digital mastery! If last week's Inside the Bucket was of epic proportions (and length), this week will feel like a gentle breeze on your neck, until you realize that hosts Matt and Brandon are actually two very heavy dudes with bad breath! If you can get past their odoriferous issues, you'll actually enjoy a much shorter show, as they deliver the best movie and television news from our website SANDWICHJOHNFILMS.COM with all the style of a bull and full of greasy attitude. But there's no news this week, so the two skip right Blu-ray releases, as well as the final box office report for the weekend, as well as discuss three Blu-rays releasing this week. Afterwards, Matt takes us through a review of Shaun the Sheep , before welcoming Brandon back for a full-blown review of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation . NOTE: The boys also engage in a ton of spoilers, so if you haven't seen it, fas

#BoxOffice Report: Cruise Cruises to Easy #MissionImpossible Win

The star is back on top as Vacation 's road was bumpy. Story by Matt Cummings Paramount's Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation easily won the weekend box office with an estimated $56 million, ranking it as second all-time for a M:I movie - that honor goes to MI:II at just above $57m. The well received Tom Cruise follow up has been gaining traction among critics for weeks, although tracking numbers were actually painting it for a much softer opening of around $40m. Rogue Nation 's final numbers represent the higher end of expectations, and could actually rise once all the numbers are in. A 9:50am screening on Sunday at a local theater actually saw several people waiting in line to buy a morning ticket. With support like that, it's possible we could see it become the No. 1 M:I film ever. With a strong No.1 return, Actor Tom Cruise is definitely back as a bankable action star, perhaps the only one next to Dwayne Johnson. Rogue Nation opened with a s

Movie Review: #Vacation

Vacation makes me want to take a STAY-cation. Review by Matt Cummings It's not too often that a movie makes me wish film never existed, yet her I am ready to give the newest Vacation all the hate it deserves. And hate on it I will. Grown-up Rusty (Ed Helms) is stuck in a dull marriage to Debbie (Christina Applegate), who's been forced year after year to spend vacation with her family at a cabin in Michigan. When the overly optimistic Rusty realizes his family needs a change, he packs them up for a trip to Walley World, the site of his greatest trip as a teen. But soon, his family begins to encounter difficulties and flat-out disasters that could end their road trip and return Rusty's marriage back to square one. It might surprise our readers to know that someone from our team actually considered walking out of Vacation , and we get to see these films for free. That's how bad our experience became as we sat mesmerized by its 99 minutes of ineptit

Writers Hired For The New #SpiderMan Script

With Sony and Marvel joining forces to bring another iteration – albeit not an origin story this time – of Spider-Man to our screens, the elements needed to make the movie have been slotting into place. Tom Holland is aboard to play Peter Parker, Jon Watts will direct the film and now it appears the scriptwriters have been found, with John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein in negotiations. The pair have had a meteoric rise in the last few years, graduating from writing and producing comedies such as The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and the Horrible Bosses films to co-directing the new Vacation movie. And while not everything they’ve written has been a success, it’s worth noting that several of their drafts were changed before the films hit screens. There’s a chance that might happen with Spider-Man, as big tentpoles have a notorious habit of churning through script drafts and the writers who create them, but this pair has weathered the development storm on Vacation to

Chris Hemsworth Cast as Receptionist in New Ghostbusters

Thor to put the hammer down and pick up the phone. By Brandon Wolfe Paul Feig crossed the streams on Twitter this afternoon with the revelation that none other than Chris Hemsworth will portray the receptionist for the female cast of the new Ghostbusters . Hemsworth will be the counterpart to the role memorably played by Annie Potts in the original film. However, given Hemsworth’s “Sexiest Man Alive” exterior, it’s safe to say that his receptionist won’t merely be a male version of Janine, and will presumably be the centerpiece of a gender-flipped “hired for his looks” comedic scenario, the guy version of the “hot secretary” cliché. Hemsworth has been making a concerted effort lately to expand his repertoire into more comedic directions, between this and his role in that other dusting-off of an ‘80s classic, Vacation . He will be taking messages for Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon when the new Ghostbusters opens next July. Discuss this story with

Vacation Reboot Moved Up To July

The Griswolds are now taking a summer vacation. By Brandon Wolfe Warner Bros. has shuffled the Griswolds’ latest vacation plans as it has bumped up the release date of the Vacation reboot/sequel from October 9 to July 31. This is perhaps a huge vote of confidence in the film, as its strongest competition in October was the Steve Jobs biopic, whereas now it’s going up against Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation – another film kicked up to summer unexpectedly from a late-year release - which opens the same day (not to mention all the other big summer contenders that will be in theaters around that time). However, the only true comedy competition Vacation will face will come from Trainwreck , which opens two weeks prior and will probably prove less formidable a foe by the time the Griswolds come out of the gate, so maybe this is a shrewd move. Vacation stars Ed Helms, Leslie Mann, Christina Applegate, Chris Hemsworth, Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo. Discuss this story w

New Line To Take Us On "Vacation" Again

New Line To Take Us On "Vacation" Again New Line is Going to bring us another "Vacation" film soon. The movie has brought in Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley to write the newest film. The latest project, which will no longer carry the National Lampoon credit, is being described as more of an update than a sequel and will be closer in tone to "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" than the previous chapters. Story will focus on Rusty Griswold, now a grown man, who decides to take his own wife and kids on a road trip to Wally World before it closes forever. Chase is expected to reprise his role as Clark Griswold, now a grandfather. "Vacation" marks Goldstein and Daley's fourth project at New Line in 2½ years. Most recently, they did an overhaul of "Horrible Bosses," about three friends who resolve to kill their employers. Seth Gordon ("King of Kong") is directing. Duo are rewriting "Burt Wonderstone" about a pr
