Abigail Breslin To Play "Baby" In ABC Networks Dirty Dancing

ABC network has announced that it will present a new adaptation of the 1987 popular film " Dirty Dancing ," according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the role of Baby will be Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin , from the Fox TV series " Scream Queens ." According to the THR report, Breslin, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as the young girl in "Little Miss Sunshine," is the only actress to be cast in the production. Emmy nominee Jessica Sharzer ("American Horror Story") will write the script, Australian director Wayne Blair ("The Sapphires") will helm, Hamilton's Andy Blankenbuehler will choreograph and Grammy nominee Adam Anders and Peer Astrom ("Glee") will compose the music. The three-hour event from Lionsgate TV will be produced by Allison Shearmur Productions ("The Hunger Games") and Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote the screenplay for the original movie. Fall 2015 Television Preview: Fox

We continue our look at the upcoming Fall television season by focusing on Fox's offerings. Story by Sue Lukenbaugh Fox did a fair amount of chopping as well, taking out 13 shows. It canceled long running shows American Idol , The Following , Kitchen Nightmares , Glee , The X Factor , and The Mindy Project , though Mindy did get saved by a Hulu pick-up. Also getting the ax were Backstrom , Gang Related , Gracepoint , Mulaney , Red Band Society , Utopia and Weird Loners . The upcoming season has some real gems, let's just hope that FOX actually keeps a few around.
