Tiger Woods-What Really Happened?

Tiger Woods-What Really Happened?

There are plenty of vivid details from the car crash that sent Tiger Woods to the hospital:

His SUV hit a fire hydrant and a tree; his lips were cut and he had blood in his mouth; his wife smashed a rear window with a golf club to get him out; he briefly lost consciousness.

There are also plenty of questions, among them:

Where was he going at 2:25 a.m. Friday? Why was there no word from the Woods' camp for nearly 13 hours after the accident?

Police hope Woods can answer some of them Saturday.

Two troopers tried to talk to the world's No. 1 golfer Friday evening, but his wife said he was sleeping and they agreed to come back Saturday, Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes said.

According to the patrol, Woods had just left his Florida mansion when he lost control of his 2009 Cadillac and hit a fire hydrant, then a tree on his neighbor's property. The report said alcohol was not a factor.

The patrol reported the accident occurred at 2:25 a.m. Friday morning and classified the injuries as serious. The first word from Woods' camp — some 13 hours after the crash — was that it was a "minor accident," and he was in good condition after being treated and released.

Windermere police chief Daniel Saylor said his two officers found the 33-year-old Woods lying in the street with his wife, Elin, hovering over him.

"She was frantic, upset," Saylor said in a briefing Friday night. "It was her husband laying on the ground."

Saylor said Woods' wife told officers she was in the house when she heard the accident and "broke the back window with a golf club." He said the front-door windows were not broken and that "the door was probably locked."

"She supposedly got him out and laid him on the ground," he said. "He was in and out of consciousness when my guys got there."

Saylor said Woods had lacerations to his upper and lower lips, and blood in his mouth; officers treated Woods for about 10 minutes until an ambulance arrived. Woods was conscious enough to speak, though the police chief said Woods didn't say anything coherent.

A-Team: Dirk Benedict Cameo Confirmed

A-Team: Dirk Benedict Cameo Confirmed

Just a few weeks ago, Peter Hall brought you the news that Dwight Schultz, aka the original Howlin' Mad Murdock, had earned a cameo in Joe Carnahan's remake of The A-Team. Obviously, you can't invite Schultz and not invite the rest of the surviving team, and it seems Faceman will also be getting some facetime. According to Dirk Benedict Central, Dirk Benedict will also be appearing in the film in an unspecified role.

Remember when this kind of thing stayed secret? I'm not losing sleep over the production of The A-Team or anything, but it makes me nostalgic for the days down the long haul and into history back when you didn't know anything about secret cameos until you were in the dark theater. Then you could nudge whoever you were with and say "Oh my gosh! That's Dirk Benedict! Ha ha!" If you had your head bitten off when you started blabbing about the Zombieland cameo, this is the reason why. People like surprise cameos!

So, who do you think Benedict will be? Bradley Cooper's father? Someone helpful they meet along the way? One of the commanding officers coordinating the task force that's hunting them down? Or will Schultz, Benedict and Mr. T (you know he'll be the next one confirmed) all have a scene together where they hand over keys to the iconic van?

Jeremy Renner, To Play Hawkeye In Upcoming Marvel Films?

Jeremy Renner, To Play Hawkeye In Upcoming Marvel Films?

"The Hurt Locker" obviously did wonders for underrated actor Jeremy Renner's career. He was in discussions about taking some sort of role in George Miller's "Mad Max: Fury Road" (many speculated the lead role) and now the thesp says he's up for a reoccurring smaller role in Marvel films.

In the latest issue of Empire magazine (not online, but our U.K. writer Oliver Lyttelton transcribed for us), Renner says he and Marvel have been in discussions about playing the archer character Hawkeye that will make appearances in a least two upcoming Marvel pictures, including a cameo in "Thor" and then a role in "The Avengers" supergroup.

"Hawkeye could be interesting. They're going to send me some stuff on it, see what it is. But I think they're pretty awesome, trying to make superhero movies almost plausible and not just some fantasy thing."

Sounds like a cameo ala Samuel L. Jackson at the end of "Iron Man." Man, the way casting is going on "Thor" right now, we wonder if Jon Favreau is feeling envious and feels the need to add a little cameo or flavor to "Iron Man 2"? Renner's a good choice here and we're glad to seem him get noticed and score gigs. He's been great for years now. We couldn't really see him as traditional super hero, but Hawkeye's origins are rogue and maverick-like and he comic book lore he actually broke into the Avengers HQ to apply for membership. It could be a bit of a rehash of Renner's rebellious and off-book, 'Hurt Locker' character, but it could fit pretty well.

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert?

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert?

We're halfway checked out for the holiday weekend, so let's end with bit of comedy.

A litigious videogame player is calling Winona Ryder to testify as an expert in "alienation."

Erik Estavillo has filed a $1 million lawsuit in California Superior Court against Activision Blizzard, publisher of "World of Warcraft," saying it "maintain(s) a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow the game's sneaky and deceitful practices."

The plaintiff says he suffers from several mental health problems brought on by WoW's "alienating" features, such as forcing beginners to walk or run to get from one point to another instead of speedier options available to those who master the game or buy an expansion pack. Estavillo says that the slow pace is "deceitful" because more time = more subscription revenue for Activision.

Here's where Winona Ryder comes in.

Estavillo, who has previously sued Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony, has heard that the actress is a fan of the J.D. Salinger book "The Catcher in the Rye." Estavillo says that Ryder would be able to "explain the significance of alienation in 'Catcher in the Rye' and will also testify to how alienation in the book can tie to alienation in real live/video games such as World of Warcraft."

Fox Unveiled Its Midseason Lineup

Fox Unveiled Its Midseason Lineup

Fox unveiled its midseason lineup Tuesday, giving homes to new entries "Our Little Genius," "Human Target," "Past Life" and "Sons of Tucson."

Given its limited shelf space and the need to accommodate the return of "American Idol," Fox is forced to do a bit of scheduling musical chairs in midseason -- although less so this year, as "Idol" will follow the scheduling pattern of "So You Think You Can Dance" in the fall.

That also means that unlike past years, much of Fox's midseason schedule looks like the lineup the net announced at the May upfronts (save Tuesday and Friday nights).

Meanwhile, with several new shows waiting in the wings, a handful of incumbents will take a hiatus -- most notably, "Glee," which will go dark between Dec. 9 and April 13. (On the bright side, net execs note that "Glee" originally wasn't even on the midseason sked that Fox unveiled in May.)

The net's midseason kicks off on Tuesday, Jan. 12 with the two-hour premiere of "American Idol," now Paula Abdul-free. The show also airs the following night, Jan. 13, at 8 p.m.

That leads into new reality skein "Our Little Genius," the show from Mark Burnett and Zoo Prods. that tests tykes on their knowledge of certain topics. Reality czar Mike Darnell had promised that the show would get a post-"American Idol" boost, and this indeed will be the case.

"Genius" will shift to Tuesdays behind "Idol" on Jan. 19, when "Idol" pares down to an hour. (Expect frequent pre-emptions of "Genius," however, as "Idol" frequently expands to two hours.)

Then, on April 13, "Glee," which takes a break after Dec. 9, will assume that post-"Idol" slot Tuesdays at 9 p.m.

New drama "Human Target," based on the comic book franchise, will get a special preview on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m., behind the NFC Divisional Playoff game.

That same night, "24" returns at 9 p.m. for the first half of its two-night, four-hour season premiere. (Making for a rare instance of Fox programming extending into the 10 p.m. hour for a night.)

"24" will also air for two hours on Monday, Jan. 18, before settling into its normal 9 p.m. slot the following week, on Jan. 25.

"Human Target" will then take over the Wednesday 9 p.m. slot behind "Idol" starting Jan. 20.

In February, "Fringe" will take a hiatus after its Feb. 4 episode, leaving room for "Past Life," which will debut with a two-hour premiere on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m., before settling into its 9 p.m. slot on Feb. 18. (As announced last May, "Past Life" was originally slated for Tuesdays at 9 p.m.)

"Fringe" will return on Thursday, April 1, after "Past Life" completes its run.

Live-action comedy "Sons of Tucson" will invade Fox's "Animation Domination" Sunday lineup on March 4, airing at 8:30 p.m. in the plum spot between "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy."

"Sons of Tucson" pushes "The Cleveland Show" to 9:30; that means "American Dad" will be temporarily without a timeslot.

Also returning to the net in January is Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares," which will air Fridays at 9 p.m. starting Jan. 29. That's the slot formerly held by "Dollhouse," which airs its series finale on Jan. 22.

Fox will air drama repeats (first, "Bones," and later, "House") on Fridays at 8 p.m. -- rather than comedies "Brothers" and "'TIl Death," as had originally been announced.

Shows on the bench include "Lie to Me," which will return later in the season, as well as "'Til Death," which the net would only say "will return to the schedule at a later date."

Fox also said its one-hour special "The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special in 3-D! On Ice!" will now air on Jan. 10 at 8:30 p.m., behind the 450th episode of "The Simpsons."

Ryan Reynolds Talks Green Lantern And Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds Talks Green Lantern And Deadpool

Then again, the 33-year-old can't go into hiding anytime soon. This year, he signed on to two big-budget franchise flicks, "Deadpool" and "Green Lantern." Lucky for him, fanboys couldn't be more excited to see his takes on both iconic comic book characters.
I’ve known about Green Lantern my whole life, but I’ve never really followed it before. I fell in love with the character when I met with [director] Martin Campbell. When I sat down with him, I really got what it is that this guy is all about. When you have a guy like Martin Campbell, part of his charm is that he has ba–s of titanium, and the other part is that he’s slightly crazy, and you have to be to take on something with the scope of Green Lantern. He’s less of the director and more of a general. He just really knows strategies, he knows the intricacies, and his attention to detail! It’s infectious. I sat down with him, and I could not even believe what he was saying. When I went to the meeting, I was entirely cynical. I thought, “What the hell, I’ll see what they have to say,” and I left the room with a completely different perspective.

I think, seeing the prototypes for the Green Lantern costumes was a huge moment. It was a moment when I was like, "This is happening, and it's happening in the right way." That's a pretty cool, definitive moment for me.

Harold "Hal" Jordan is a fictional character, a DC Comics superhero. He is DC Comics' second Green Lantern and the first earthman ever inducted into the Green Lantern Corps and founding member of the Justice League of America.

His Feeling on Deadpool in the Wolverine Film.
Yeah, I think the initial moment of the sequences that involve Wade, I think it did. It's always difficult to fully embrace something that isn't perfect, in terms of staying true to the source material. So it was a little bit frustrating. I really wanted to play Wade, and I really wanted to play Deadpool, and it would kill me to see someone else play them. I had a kind of ham-fisted attitude that it had to be perfect, but it doesn't. The movie's called "Wolverine," it's not called "Deadpool" or "Wade." I thought it was a nice little wink and tip of the hat to things to come. Finding the tone of that character alone is such a difficult prospect. I've been in so many meetings lately about "Deadpool" and meeting all these writers. Everyone is always looking for that one line, "What is that character?" and for me it's kind of like, "There's a guy, and he's in a highly militarized comedic fame spiral." That's not an easy thing to write -- an entire screenplay, let alone a franchise. I had a blast playing Wade. Every line I had in that was stuff I thought he would say. It wasn't something that a writer said to me. It was fun to really create that character, including everything he spits out of his awful mouth.

Neve Cambell The Next SCREAM Queen?

Neve Cambell The Next SCREAM Queen?

So you don’t think you are in any danger of becoming the next Jamie Lee Curtis of the shock-horror world?
Being the next Jamie would be fine! (laughs) In fact, we start shooting Scream 4 in mid-April. I’m so happy that those of us still “alive” from 1, 2 and 3 like David (Arquette) and Courtney (Cox) have already signed up to take part.

Did you all stay in touch after the trilogy had wrapped?
Oh, yes. Completely. I haven’t spoken to them in a while. I’m sure it took a while to convince them to take part [in the picture], especially because they’re now a very happy family ,and of course, it was a long journey for them. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, and a lot like going back to summer camp.

What else can you tell us about Scream 4?
I’m pretty sure at this stage that Wes [Craven] is back on board to direct and Kevin [Willamson] is definitely writing it...so it is going to be great.

So you haven’t been sent a script yet, then?
No. Not yet. They had to wait for us all to sign on. I suppose that’s the way these days!

What’s the key to playing Sidney?
Physically speaking, it’s all about working the bob! And the only way I can achieve that properly every day on set is through Tara Smith hair products. Seriously, if Tara didn’t cut and style my hair in an amazing girly way to re-create the Sidney look, I wouldn’t have a starting point [for the character]. I’m not kidding. Hers are the only products I can use without killing my hair and skin, as they are 100% organic and free of chemicals.

J.J. Abrams And Samurai Jack To Make A Film Together

J.J. Abrams And Samurai Jack To Make A Film Together

We’ve got a little bit of an update this week on the Samurai Jack feature film that was first announced back in 2007. As you may know, Genndy Tartakovsky is on board to write and direct a big screen continuation of his popular animated series for Frederator Films. As far as we know it’s the only project on his plate at the moment since The Power of the Dark Crystal was postponed indefinitely, but apparently the deal for Samurai Jack took quite a while to close. Here’s the good news: things are now moving ahead, and they’ve even got a pretty big name helping them out as a co-producer.

According to a post on the Frederator Films blog from back in September, J.J. Abrams revealed himself to be a huge fan of Samurai Jack and is now co-producing the movie through his company, Bad Robot Productions. Samurai Jack is also being distributed through Paramount Pictures, which helps guarantee that it will actually end up in theatres rather than getting dumped direct to DVD. Just to be clear, the movie is a “2D/stereoscopic 3D production”, which should maintain the look and feel of the original show. The modest budget will be somewhere in the $20 million range. Frederator also now has a deal in place with Sony, so they’ve potentially got a lot of other stuff on the horizon as well. Pretty exciting, right? Sound off in the comments below.

ABC Puts "Flash Forward." Hiatus

ABC has pushed the Pause button on "Flash Forward."

The network has stopped production on the freshman drama series for this week.

The six-day hiatus had been built into the show's schedule, a rep for the network said.

"They want to maintain the high quality of the show, and this gives the writers the opportunity to do so," the rep said.

The hiatus comes on the heels of "Flash Forward" hitting a series low last Thursday.

Additionally, co-showrunner/executive producer Marc Guggenheim recently left the heavily serialized sci-fi series, with co-creator/exec producer David Goyer stepping in as sole showrunner.

"Flash Forward" is the second freshman series to go on a non-holiday hiatus in the past week. Comedy "Cougar Town" was shut down so star Courteney Cox can deal with personal issues.

Wesley Snipes Appeals Tax Convictions

Wesley Snipes Appeals Tax Convictions

Wesley Snipes' attorneys asked a federal appeals court Friday to review an "unreasonable" three-year prison sentence for the film star, who was convicted a year ago on federal tax charges.

Attorneys for the star of the "Blade" trilogy and other films also argued the actor should have been granted a hearing to decide whether his trial should have been in New York instead of Florida.

Prosecutors countered that Snipes, 47, had plenty of time to appeal to move the case to New York in a timely manner before he was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file his income tax returns. Besides, they contended, housing records showed he lived in Florida as well as New York.

The three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta issued no immediate decision.

Snipes was sentenced in April 2008 in what was considered a key victory for prosecutors who aggressively pursued the maximum penalty to deter others from trying to obstruct the IRS. They say he made at least $13.8 million for the years in question and owed $2.7 million in back taxes that he refused to pay.

Snipes apologized at the time, calling himself an idealistic artist who was "unschooled in the science of law and finance."

The actor, who is free on bail while he appeals the convictions, was not at the downtown Atlanta courthouse. But his attorneys argued in court filings that the sentence was too harsh and "focused too heavily on deterrence." And in court Friday, they said the trial judge's decision not to move the trial jeopardized Snipes' constitutional rights.

"The right to a correct venue is part and parcel to the right to a jury trial," said his attorney, Peter Goldberger. He said Snipes should have been entitled to a pretrial hearing to show where he lived, "and the evidence would show he lives in New York."

Prosecutors, though, argued that the law is clear when it comes to where trials are to take place, and that Snipes' attorneys were too late in asking for a change.

"Wesley Snipes received a fair trial and a fair sentence," said Patricia Barksdale, an assistant U.S. attorney. "His numerous appeals do not make that sentence erroneous."

50 Cent has settled a lawsuit With Taco Bell

‘We messed with the bull and got the horns.’”50 Cent has settled a lawsuit With Taco Bell

Another one Lil Jerry.

Grammatically-challenged rapper 50 Cent has settled a lawsuit with gastronomically-challenged Taco Bell over use of his name in a guerrilla marketing campaign.

Curtis Jackson (50's real name) sued Taco Bell for $4 million after the chain conducted a nationwide “Why Pay More” ad campaign with a mock letter addressed to him.

In the letter, Taco Bell Corp. President Greg Creed asked the rapper to change his name for one day to 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent — the cost of its menu items. In return for the name change, the company said it would make a $10,000 donation to a charity of the rapper's choice.

Some people thought the idea was stupid fun — see this YouTube video — but not 50 Cent. Represented by Peter Raymond of Reed Smith, the rapper alleged that Taco Bell infringed his trademark, violated his civil rights, falsely implied that he endorses Taco Bell, and unjustly enriched the corporation.

In an interview with E! Online at the time of the filing, 50 said, "When my legal team is finished with them, Taco Bell is going to have a new corporate slogan: ‘We messed with the bull and got the horns.’”

Terms of the settlement were not released.

Chris Weitz To Direct "The Gardener"

Chris Weitz To Direct "The Gardener" Sorry Twilight Fans

Chris Weitz, riding high on the mammoth success of New Moon, certainly can't be accused of resting on his laurels. No sooner had the printer ink dried on his record-breaking box-office take for the Twilight sequel than he was sat straight back down again in the deal-making chair at the films' studio, Summit Entertainment, where he was signing on the dotted line for his next project, "The Gardener". And sorry to disappoint you Twi-hards, but there's nary a mopey supernatural teen in sight.

This will mark a considerable change of pace from Weitz's last two films (before New Moon, he was put through the ringer on visual effects Oscar-winning The Golden Compass), involving as it does... well, a gardener. A Mexican gardener, to be specific, who according to Variety, lives in Los Angeles and takes measures to protect his son. At this point we don't even know if this is a thriller, drama, comedy or rom-zom-com, but we're guessing it'll be some flavour of drama.

"Real Steel" To Star Hugh Jackman

"Real Steel" To Star Hugh Jackman
Story centers on a fighter who has to reinvent himself when human boxers are replaced by robots. Jackman will play a struggling Robot Boxing promoter who finds a discarded robot that always seems to win. He also discovers he has a 11-year-old son, and they bond as the robot brawls its way toward the top.

Although grounded in the father-son relationship, Levy describes the film as a "rousing sports movie" with Jackman's character "a former boxer who can no longer do the only job he's good at, and one particular robot that may be his return to grace."

The DreamWorks principals have greenlit the "Rocky"-esque robot tale "Real Steel," to star Hugh Jackman, as their first pic since raising $650 million from both J.P. Morgan Securities and Reliance Big Pictures and an additional $175 million from Disney, which will distrib DreamWorks titles.

Based on a short story by Richard Matheson, "Real Steel" was one of 17 projects that Spielberg and Snider took as part of DreamWorks' split from Paramount last year.

Insiders say DreamWorks will make the pic on a budget of about $80 million -- a far cry from the average price tag for sci-fi event films like "Transformers" or "Avatar." DreamWorks plans to be the sole financier on the project, though Paramount can opt in for half. No decision will likely be made on Paramount's end for several weeks.

Production starts in June.

That represented the third-best bow ever, after 2008's "The Dark Knight" ($158.4 million) and 2007's "Spider-Man 3" ($151.1 million) (more here on decade's top grossing films).

Some had wondered whether the fanged phenom would fall precipitously from its outsized first-day grosses. But Saturday boxoffice for "New Moon" proved strong, warranting bullish Sunday estimates.

"New Moon" rung up $72.7 million Friday -- the biggest single-day tally ever, including a record $26.3 million from opening midnight performances -- then sunk its teeth into $43.2 million, with Summit penciling in $24.8 million for its Sunday tally. The pic's Saturday-over-Friday decline amounted to a manageable 41%, including the outsized witching-hour coin.

Any remaining skeptics will focus on prospects for the soph session for the female-fueled sequel. But many students and adults will have the day off on Friday following the Thanksgiving holiday, making next weekend a more lucrative boxoffice session than most and surely boosting second-frame grosses for "New Moon."

Universal Soldier: Regeneration Trailer

Universal Soldier: Regeneration Trailer

From what I see from the preview the film doesn't look half bad. This will be a rental for sure.

I enjoyed the first Universal solider, the second one not so much. So I guess someone thought it would be a good idea to make a third film.

Which will be going straight to DVD.

Universal Soldier: Regeneration is the upcoming canonical third film in the Universal Soldier series. The film will be directed by John Hyams, the screenplay is by Victor Ostrovsky and it will star Dolph Lundgren and Jean-Claude Van Damme, both reprising their roles from previous films in the saga. MMA fighter Andrei Arlovski is also featured as 'NGU', a new model of Universal Soldier aiding the terrorist faction. Like its predecessor, the movie is not related to the two TV sequels produced in 1998.

The militant Islamist Chechen Basayev abducts the children of the President and takes control of Chernobyl, threatening to unleash a radioactive cloud unless his demands are met. Luc Deveraux (Van Damme), now a Universal Soldier again, joins a new team of UniSols secretly held in deep storage. Their mission is to retake Chernobyl and disable explosives that will unleash radioactive clouds. Luc discovers that one of the reactivated Universal Soldiers is a clone of his old, homicidal Sergeant, Andrew Scott (Lundgren). He also must face the NGU, the next generation in the UniSol biotechnology.

Universal Soldier: Regeneration hits DVD and Blu-ray on February 2nd, 2010.Please Leave A Comment- Read more...

Kull the Conqueror Film Getting A Reboot

Kull the Conqueror Film Getting A Reboot

Do we really need this film to be remade? What do you think?

Native to Atlantis, Kull grows up with his family in Tiger Valley until a flood wipe his clan out. Another clan bring him up, but he stands up for a woman destined to burn alive and ends up banned from Atlantis. He sails for the continent and take up the mercenary way. He'll become king, just as Conan will do thousands of years later. Under his influence, Valusia ends up as the most powerful kingdom of the time.

As a reminder, in 1997, Kull made an appearance on screen in the less than convincing Kull the Conqueror, directed by John Nicolella and played by Kevin Sorbo.

Paradox Entertainment's CEO Fredrik Malmberg told Fantasy.fr that a new "Kull" movie is in the works. Here is the translated article, courtesy of the site:

Paradox Entertainment is currently working on a new movie adaptation for Kull the Conqueror.

Fredrik Malmberg, Paradox Entertainment's CEO, used the occasion of an exclusive interview to reveal his company was working on a new Kull movie.

Fredrik Malmberg also told us about Conan and other ongoing adaptations. You'll hear of it soon.

Robert Ervin Howard created a hero called Kull in 1929 for the Weird Tales magazine. Howard would draw some inspiration from this character to create Conan, but he dwells in an era predating the cimmerian's one.
