From what I see from the preview the film doesn't look half bad. This will be a rental for sure.

I enjoyed the first Universal solider, the second one not so much. So I guess someone thought it would be a good idea to make a third film.

Which will be going straight to DVD.

Universal Soldier: Regeneration is the upcoming canonical third film in the Universal Soldier series. The film will be directed by John Hyams, the screenplay is by Victor Ostrovsky and it will star Dolph Lundgren and Jean-Claude Van Damme, both reprising their roles from previous films in the saga. MMA fighter Andrei Arlovski is also featured as 'NGU', a new model of Universal Soldier aiding the terrorist faction. Like its predecessor, the movie is not related to the two TV sequels produced in 1998.



The militant Islamist Chechen Basayev abducts the children of the President and takes control of Chernobyl, threatening to unleash a radioactive cloud unless his demands are met. Luc Deveraux (Van Damme), now a Universal Soldier again, joins a new team of UniSols secretly held in deep storage. Their mission is to retake Chernobyl and disable explosives that will unleash radioactive clouds. Luc discovers that one of the reactivated Universal Soldiers is a clone of his old, homicidal Sergeant, Andrew Scott (Lundgren). He also must face the NGU, the next generation in the UniSol biotechnology.

Winona Ryder- An "Alienation" Expert? We're halfway checked out for the holiday weekend, so let's end with bit of comedy. A litigious videogame player is calling Winona Ryder to testify as an expert in "alienation." Erik Estavillo has filed a $1 million lawsuit in California Superior Court against Activision Blizzard, publisher of "World of Warcraft," saying it "maintain(s) a harmful virtual environment to many of its customers by forcing them to follow the game's sneaky and deceitful practices." The plaintiff says he suffers from several mental health problems brought on by WoW's "alienating" features, such as forcing beginners to walk or run to get from one point to another instead of speedier options available to those who master the game or buy an expansion pack.
