The World Made Straight Review: Exceedingly Dull Affair

After a solid opening, The World Made Straight slows to a painful Southern crawl. Review by Matt Cummings In David Burris' The World Made Straight , life in North Carolina and Madison County is based on drug deals and dreams abated. For 17-year-old drop out Travis (Jeremy Irvine), that life is going nowhere until he meets a former teacher turned drug dealer Leonard (Noah Wylie) who sees the boy as full of potential. Unfortunately, his world also includes the dangerous drug lord Carlton (Steve Earle) and the sexually available druggie Dena (Minka Kelly). As Travis seeks help from Leonard to pass the GED, he learns of a deep betrayal that goes back to The Civil War, leading to a final showdown that puts his future in the crosshairs. The trouble with this production is that so little of it is interesting or even worthy of our attention. The backwater surroundings of 1972 North Carolina are appealing enough, but a haphazard story by Penner Shane Danielsen lacks a drivi

TNT Renews Three Summer Hits: The Last Ship, Major Crimes and Falling Skies All Three Dramas Rank among Basic Cable's Top 5 Scripted Series So Far This Summer Falling Skies to Wrap Up Epic Story in Fifth and Final Season TNT has renewed three of its chart-topping summer hits: The Last Ship, Major Crimes and Falling Skies . All three dramas rank among basic cable's Top 5 scripted series this summer with total viewers and adults 25-54. They have also helped TNT score a significant lead as basic cable's #1 network in primetime for the summer-to-date. TNT has ordered 13 episodes of The Last Ship , an increase over its first-season order of 10 episodes. The network is also ordering 15 episodes for season four of Major Crimes. TNT Invades Comic-Con with Legends, The Last Ship and Falling Skies and  Legends at Center of First-Ever Branded Takeover of San Diego Airport TNT is bringing its eagerly anticipated drama Legends to Comic-Con International: San Diego 2014 with multiple events and initiatives, including the first-ever branded takeover of San Diego International Airport. TNT’s Falling Skies to Invade Comic-Con as Cast Returns to San Diego For Panel and Signing on Friday, July 19. TNT’s epic drama Falling Skies, one of basic cable's top-rated dramas, is bringing the 2nd Mass and its alien resistance fighters back to S an Diego Comic-Con for a panel Q&A, autograph session and exclusive look at what’s ahead for the remainder of its third season. The Falling Skies panel will feature series stars Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood , Will Patton, Drew Roy, Connor Jessup, Colin Cunningham and Sarah Carter , along with executive producers Remi Aubuchon and Greg Beeman. Falling Skies is an American science fiction dramatic television series created by Robert Rodat and produced by Steven Spielberg. Set six months into a world devastated by an alien invasion, the series stars Noah Wyle as Tom Mason, a former Boston University history professor who becomes the second-in-command of the 2nd Massachusetts Militia Regiment, a group of civilians and fighters fleeing post-apocalyptic Boston. Don't Look Up Falling Skies is an upcoming alien invasion science fiction television series developed for TNT, and will start broadcasting June 2011. The show is produced by DreamWorks Television, with Steven Spielberg acting as executive producer. The show stars our favorite ER doctor Noah Wyle , Will Patton and Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation, Faster). The show reminds me of V, but time will only tell if this show will have legs or just fall into a black hole like V has. Watch the trailer after the Jump.. Steven Spielberg Alien Invasion Drama Picked Up By TNT TNT has picked up the pilot for the new Steven Spielberg alien invasion drama starring Noah Wyle from E.R. The alien invasion project, written by Robert Rodat from an idea he conceived with Spielberg, is set shortly after aliens have wiped out most of the human population. Wyle plays the leader of a ragtag group of soldiers and civilians who struggle against the occupying alien force, with Moon Bloodgood, Jessy Schram, Seychelle Gabriel and Maxim Knight co-starring.
