xXx: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE Trailer Generated More Than 100 Million Views

The new trailer for Paramount Pictures and Revolution Studios’ “ xXx: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE ” generated more than 100 million views across Facebook and YouTube in its first week of release, the fastest to reach that number for any Paramount Pictures film. The trailer, which offers fans a sneak peek at Vin Diesel reprising his iconic role as an extreme athlete-turned-superspy, debuted online July 19. “xXx: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE” opens in theaters January 20, 2017. The third explosive chapter of the blockbuster franchise that redefined the spy thriller finds extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) coming out of self-imposed exile and on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora’s Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of wor

D.J. Caruso To Direct xXx

According to Diesel , I Am Number Four's D.J. Caruso will direct the action pic. Talking with io9 about his latest, supernatural conflict The Last Witch Hunter , Diesel let slip the news: “I’m excited as hell about xXx,” Diesel says. “D.J. Caruso is directing it, which is exciting. xXx is one of those films you do when you need to have a little fun. When the weight and pressures of all the other things have gone so far that you need to have a character that you can just have fun and more comment on life and comment on the outcome than being in it like Fast’s Dom Toretto Dom is very much the centre of the storm, Xander is more the guide to something else and you’re just with him.” Of course, bringing up Dom there reminds us that, thanks to Fast’s blockbuster status and the fact that it has a 2017 release date hanging over it and a script that is closer to completion, Xander might still have to wait a little longer before he can have fun with his extreme sports/secret agent sty

G.I. Joe 3: DJ Caruso to Helm?

Will the Eagle Eye director be enlisted? Story by Matt Cummings For those of you who thought G.I. Joe and its 2013 sequel Retaliation were a little less than desirable, get in line. Limited creaky story in the first, then a shocking and unnecessary death in the second, fans of the franchise have been scratching their heads for a solution ever since. Retaliation Director Jon M. Chu was originally set to return for G.I. Joe 3, but he dropped out to helm the Now You See Me sequel. Suffering from a re-write by Shooter penner Jonathon Lemkin, the project seemed stuck in development hell. But now, it seems the oft-maligned franchise is back on track: Deadline is reporting that D.J. Caruso ( Eagle Eye , Ditrubia ) is in talks with Paramount to lead the film to a 2016 release. Any deal would have to get off the ground soon to keep this date, as the studio is also hoping to release a slate of other films including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and Star Trek 3 . Whet

Kate Beckinsale Could Join The Disappointments Room

In case you were wondering, The Disappointments Room is not the storage locker where Kate Beckinsale keeps the various drafts of the Whiteout screenplay. No, it’s actually a new supernatural thriller script she’s been offered and that I Am Number Four’s D.J. Caruso is down to direct. The Disappointments Room would see Beckinsale as a mother who moves her family to a storied mansion in the country. While it has plenty of land and a nice historical design, she discovers it also comes with a gruesome history and starts to slowly go insane with visions of a dead girl. We always hate it when the real estate agents leave that off the listing. Wentworth Miller , who has already proved his scripting chops with Stoker, wrote this one and the project is now set to be touted at the American Film Market. Beckinsale isn’t firmly aboard yet, but the producers will be hoping she hops aboard so they have another name to dangle in front of prospective investors and distributors. Beckinsal

D.J. Caruso To Direct Preacher

D.J. Caruso has closed a deal to direct Preacher , Columbia’s adaptation of the popular 1990s DC/Vertigo comic book series. Neal Moritz and his Original Films banner are producing with Kickstart Prods.' Jason Netter. John August wrote the screenplay. Created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, Preacher , which ran from 1995-2000, told the story of a down-and-out Texas preacher possessed by Genesis, a supernatural entity conceived by the unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon. Given immense powers, the preacher teamed with an old girlfriend and a hard-drinking Irish vampire and set out on a journey across America to find God -- who apparently had abandoned his duties in heaven -- and hold him accountable for his negligence. Here is the comic book plot: Preacher tells the story of Jesse Custer, a down-and-out preacher in the small Texas town of Annville. Custer was accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature named Genesis in an incident which killed his entire co

I Am Number 4 Movie Review By: SandwichJohn

I Am Number 4 Movie Review By: SandwichJohn I went into this film hoping for more than I got. The movie was directed D. J. Caruso ( Disturbia ) , produced by Michael Bay (You think Action throughout) and a cast that starred Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, Teresa Palmer, Dianna Agron, Kevin Durand, and Callan McAuliffe . But that was pretty much it. All the action was shown during the trailer. You would think by now we would figure that out, but sometimes you are hoping for more. You have to dream. There sure were some questions I had about this film while watching it, like why in the hell would a race from outer space need to drive a car? Wouldn't they have more advanced technology than this?  Sorry I am weird, I think of shit like that when I watch a movie. Alex Pettyfer  plays John Smith or whatever his name is. It changes from town to town. He is an alien from the plant Lorien and was sent to Earth with 8 other super babies to escape The Mogadorians who destroyed hi

Timothy Olyphant Replaces Sharlto Copley In " I Am Number Four"

Timothy Olyphant Replaces Sharlto Copley In " I Am Number Four" Sharlto Copley has dropped out of the DreamWorks pic "I Am Number Four" and has been replaced by "Justified" star Timothy Olyphant. Copley, who rose to the top of studio casting lists after starring in breakout hit "District 9," had to bow out of the D.J. Caruso-helmed film due to scheduling conflicts with his upcoming press obligations for Fox's "The A-Team." But is this the real reason?  Filmdrunk has found out some interesting information on why Copley was replaced.  Sharlto Copley wanted wear a prosthetic nose and fake ears like Spock and look like an alien in the movie, while director DJ Caruso was adamant that the aliens were supposed to look just like regular humans, hence why they’re able to fit in. This was apparently such a sticking point that neither would budge, and Copley left the project. Olyphant, who is also on the rise thanks to the critical hit

"Glee" Star Dianna Agron Joins The Cast For "I Am Number Four"

"Glee" Star Dianna Agron Joins The Cast For "I Am Number Four" Dianna Agron, one of the stars of red-hot Fox series “Glee,” has nabbed the female romantic lead in “I Am Number Four,” DreamWorks’ adaptation of the upcoming young-adult science-fiction book by James Frey and Jobie Hughes. “Four” revolves around a group of nine aliens who escaped their home planet just before it was annihilated by a rival species. Hiding out on Earth, the title character, to be played by British actor Alex Pettyfer, disguises himself as a human high schooler, only to discover he’s still being hunted by his planet’s enemy. Agron will play a girl dating a high school jock who falls for Number Four and becomes his confidante. “Four” will be Agron’s big-studio debut. The role in the high-pedigree movie — Michael Bay is producing with Steven Spielberg, and D.J. Caruso is directing — was highly sought-after, and the studio went through several rounds of tests to find the right candidat

Chris Pine To Star Ben Afflecks "Blade Itself"

Chris Pine To Star Ben Afflecks "Blade Itself" I had no reservations with Chris Pine playing Captain Kirk. I really enjoyed his role as Darwin Tremor in Smokin' Aces . And you know he will be tied to the Star Trek Franchise for a long while. I feel that he is a versatile enough actor to take on a more serious role in a film. I am curious to see what he can do with this movie. In late 2007, soon after the critical success of Ben Affleck’s directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, it was announced that Affleck, along with his writing and producing partner on Gone, Sean Bailey, had adapted the rights to Marcus Sakey’s crime novel, The Blade Itself. The novel is about two childhood friends — boys who grew up committing petty crimes with one another — who are reunited and discover how different they have become as adults. One of the men will have to make a tough decision if he wants to protect the secrets of his past. The novel was set in Chicago, though with Affleck and Bailey invol

Does Chris Pine Know "The Art Of Making Money"

Does Chris Pine Know "The Art Of Making Money" Chris Pine did a great job playing a young Cpt James T Kirk in J.J. Abrams‘ prequel Star Trek, he also did a great job playing Darwin Tremor in Smokin' Aces . We know that he will be attached to Play the Kirk role for awhile, which isn't a bad deal. But it looks like he is trying to branch out to other movies. Paramount Pictures is in negotiations with Chris Pine and director D.J. Caruso to put fact-based drama "The Art of Making Money" on a fast track to begin production early next year. If the deals are made, Pine will play Art Williams, the alias for a Chicago man who rose from petty theft to become a master counterfeiter. Paramount acquired the project based on a 2005 Rolling Stone article by Jason Kersten, who turned his reporting into the book "The Art of Making Money: The Story of a Master Counterfeiter," which was published last summer by Gotham. Caruso most recently directed the Shia LaBeouf
