Captain America Casting News. "Chucks" Captain Awesome As Steve Rogers?

Captain America Casting News. "Chucks" Captain Awesome As Steve Rogers?

If you follow the NBC show Chuck then you know who Captain Awesome is. He is played by Ryan McPartlin.

Ryan Told Moviehole that he recently auditioned for the role of shield-wielding Steve Rogers. I can only think of how many of young hollywood will be auditioning for this role.

In an interview while promoting his work on the Hit TV show "Chuck" Rayn let this out of the bag.

“The one thing I can't stand are these actors that are twittering about auditioning for Captain America. It's really tacky. With that said, it is in the casting process and like many other actors, I read for it, so we'll wait and see what happens. Regardless, I'm pretty psyched to be Captain Awesome for the time being.”

Daredevil Reboot Coming Soon. Why?

Daredevil Reboot Coming Soon. Why?

Why make another Daredevil film? Ill tell if if Fox doesn't make another film the rights revert back to Disney-based Marvel. Fox do the right thing and give it back where it belongs in Marvel vault.

What is the deal with all these reboots? Spiderman reboot coming soon. Whats next a Neverending Story reboot? Enough is enough sometimes.

It's Daredevil, the movie named after the sight-challenged hero played originally by Ben Affleck. Regency is mounting the remake with former News Corp No. 2 Peter Chernin producing. Writing the redo is screenwriter David Scarpa, who scripted The Day The Earth Stood Still for Fox, which will distribute Daredevil 2.0 or whatever it's going to be called.

After watching this red band trailer and actually laughed threw out the trailer and it gave me hope for this movie.

Watch the trailer and let me know what you think.

Sony Wants A Piece Of The Terminator Franchise

Sony Wants A Piece Of The Terminator Franchise

Sony's joined Lionsgate in the bidding on the rights to the "Terminator" franchise.

The studio had no comment but a source close to the bidding confirmed that Sony submitted a bid Thursday, the final day for submitting offers.

Lionsgate stepped up last month as the first bidder for the rights to the "Terminator" franchise with a "stalking horse" or floor bid of $15 million and a 5% cut of future gross receipts.

Halcyon Group put the franchise up for sale in September-. The auction for the "Terminator" assets -- which include the rights to future "Terminator" pics, TV series, DVDs and merchandise -- will be held Monday at the offices of FTI Consulting in Los Angeles, followed by a bankruptcy court hearing two days later.

If Lionsgate doesn't win the auction, it will receive $750,000 as a breakup fee from the winning bidder.

"Terminator Salvation," the fourth film in the franchise, was produced by Halcyon with Warner Bros. handling domestic distribution and Sony taking international. It carried a production pricetag of about $200 million and took in $371 million worldwide.

Halcyon paid Mario Kassar $30 million for the "Terminator" rights in 2007, then filed for Chapter 11 as a result of a dispute with hedge fund Pacificor, which financed the purchase. At that point, Halcyon toppers Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek told the bankruptcy court that they valued the "Terminator" franchise above $70 million.

Howard Stern Who Can Afford Him?

Howard Stern Who Can Afford Him?

I was a huge Howard Stern fan ever since I could get his channel 9 show in high school, and while he was on the radio, but once he moved over to satellite then that is where it all ended for me. I wasn't going to pay for radio, no way in hell. And I was broke at the time too.

I have caught a few of his shows on XM and they just aren't the same. When he was on the radio the entire Stern team had to work hard and creatively to get there bits on air. But being on satellite they can say what they want, which has caused the show to lose it magic.

Perhaps not technically, but Stern's on-air mentions of his exclusive Sirius XM Radio deal winding down at year's end, and his hedged proclamations of competing offers, are what one insider called his "method of operation."

Not only is it his way of rallying his fan base so they'll agitate on his behalf, but he also is making sure that celestial and terrestrial radio know they'll need to bid against each other if they intend on retaining -- or attaining -- his services.

As effective as Stern's M.O. might have been in the past, though, it could fall flat this time because Sirius XM Radio has descended into penny-stock status during his satellite tenure, and traditional radio isn't faring much better. This begs the questions: Who's left that can afford to pony up anything near the $100 million a year that Sirius XM has been shelling out to Stern and his crew? And what form could a new deal take?

Sirius XM chief Mel Karmazin on Wednesday made it clear he wants the shock jock to stay put.

"In this world of fragmentation, content prevails," he said during a presentation at the Paley Center for Media in New York. "Howard Stern is great content. Howard would be sought-after by anyone. He's a great talent. Having said that, we would like him to stay with us, and we are optimistic he will continue to do so."

CBS might not compete for Stern's attentions, given that he insulted CEO Leslie Moonves after the company sued him five years ago. CBS would not comment.

Clear Channel Radio CEO John Hogan, on the other hand, already has said his is "the most logical company for (Stern) to optimize his exposure and financial return."

Hogan seemed to be saying that Stern would make more money at Clear Channel than elsewhere.

Clear Channel presumably would syndicate Stern through its Premiere Radio Networks. But that entity has struck new deals recently with some of the industry's top personalities, including Rush Limbaugh, Ryan Seacrest, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Elvis Duran and Delilah -- none of whom came cheap. Limbaugh's contract inked in 2008, for example, calls for $400 million over eight years.

Besides its $500 million commitment to Stern, Sirius XM is paying $600 million to Major League Baseball, $200 million to the NFL, $108 million to NASCAR, $100 million to the NHL, $55 million to Oprah Winfrey and $30 million to Martha Stewart.

Stern's hefty pay package came before the Sirius-XM merger, when the two were competing and bidding against each other. So if Stern sticks with satellite after his contract expires at year's end, it is expected he'll work fewer hours for less pay.

"We are assuming that Sirius renews with Howard Stern in 2011 at $80 million a year in cash," Lazard Capital Markets analyst Barton Crockett told clients recently. "That represents a fair compromise between the view that Stern is worth less now than he was in 2004 and the fact that he still has a loyal subscriber base that could walk if he doesn't renew."

Crockett guesses that 1 million of Sirius XM's 18.5 million subscribers would leave. If he's right, it would cost Sirius XM $74 million per year in lost free-cash flow.

Others note Stern's flagging cultural influence, evidenced by a sharp decrease in the number of Google searches for his name during the past five years. TheStreet.com also weighed in on Stern's worth by polling its readers: 55% said Sirius XM should not re-sign him.

Many have opined that Stern's options are limited, given that his show has become so raunchy that the FCC wouldn't even allow it on traditional radio, at least not in its present form. Crockett argues, though, that tension caused by an FCC at war with Stern actually would improve the show.

Such a scenario already has detractors lining up. The Parents Television Council, for example, calls it "a very troubling sign" that Clear Channel even expressed an interest in Stern.

Russell Crowe And Beyonce Born To Be Stars

Russell Crowe And Beyonce Born To Be Stars

With a new remake of "A Star Is Born" gaining momentum at Warner Bros., the studio could be closing in on, well, a star.

Russell Crowe has emerged as the front-runner to take the lead male role of an aging, alcoholic musician who mentors/is schooled by -- and then finds romance with -- a younger female star. While it's not believed there is a formal offer yet, the studio is very high on the 45-year-old actor, who in turn is said to be keen to take the role.

The female part would likely be played by Beyonce, who has long been associated with the role and has recently elevated her interest in it.

The three previous iterations of "A Star Is Born" have alternated between settings in the film and the music worlds. The most recent one, the 1976 version from Warner Bros. that starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson as doomed pair Esther Hoffman and John Norman Howard, was set in the music world.

Nick Cassavetes has recently entered talks to direct the reboot of the drama, which has spent years in development with various writers (including "Ali's" Stephen J. Rivele and Christopher Wilkinson) taking a crack at it, before getting a new boost with a draft from young screenwriter Will Fetters. Jon Peters, Basel Iwanyk and Billy Gerber are producing. Sean Penn and Robert Downey Jr. had been some of the names said to be considered by the studio before Crowe emerged as the front-runner.

If it comes off, a Crowe-Beyonce pairing would serve as one of the most prominent onscreen interracial romances since 1992’s “The Bodyguard,” which teamed Kevin Costner with the female singing sensation of the day, Whitney Houston.

A Crowe casting would also mark a return to the dramas of earlier in his career. The New Zealand-born actor has taken his career in the direction of high-end thrillers lately; starring in an international espionage thriller ("Body of Lies), domestic political thriller ("State of Play") and a jail-break thriller (the upcoming "The Next Three Days") -- something of a departure from awards bait such as "A Beautiful Mind" and "The Insider" that marked the earlier part of his career. He'll next be seen in Ridley Scott's interpretation of "Robin Hood.”

Crowe has also signed on with “Slumdog Millionaire” writer Simon Beaufoy and Maria Bello to produce a new HBO series, “Emergency Sex,” based on the true-life experiences of a trio of expatriate non-governmental workers overseas.

Sony Wants To Find The Lost Symbol

Sony Wants To Find The Lost Symbol

We've known it was coming ever since the book was announced, but now it's official: Sony has decided to ignore the diminishing returns of Angels And Demons and hired writer Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things) to adapt Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol.

Yes, despite Angels' $486 million haul falling well short of The Da Vinci Code's $758 million worldwide takings, the studio believes there's still life in Tom Hanks' Professor Robert Langdon, his hair and his middle distance stare.

That's assuming, of course, that Hanks signs (he hasn't set a deal yet), but you can bet that Sony will be delivering a hefty pay offer to his house as soon as the bank opens.

The book, meanwhile, proved to be yet another massive bestseller for Brown, and finds the good prof called to Washington to figure out the symbology of the Freemasons. Dark historical secrets will no doubt be revealed with his life under blah blah the usual.

We're betting Hanks and Ron Howard will be aboard soon enough and Sony will want this one out in the world by 2012 at the latest.

Enchanted 2 On It's Way

Enchanted 2 On It's Way

It's not surprising, given the success of Amy Adams' first warbling, gown-clad turn, that Disney would press ahead with a sequel to Enchanted. And now the Mouse House has hired both a writer (I Am Sam's Jessie Nelson) and a director (Anne Fletcher of The Proposal) to get it in gear.

Considering that the original floundered for years in development limbo, the studio would like this one to flounce in front of cameras a little quicker, with, according to Variety, the aim of possibly having it in cinemas next year. Fletcher should be a good fit, since she's a former choreographer who can handle a dance scene with the best of 'em.

Now, though, the big question will be whether Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and possibly Susan Sarandon would all return for another go-around. We're guessing they'd be up for it, given the original's massive success and (general) critical acclaim, but with all of them very much in demand, there might be scheduling problems.

And what will the plot be? No one is saying yet. We'd throw out a guess at Adams's Giselle being flung back into animated fairytale-land, but with the likely tight schedule, we doubt they could get that much created in time...

Watchman 2 Get Ready For the Sequel

Watchman 2 Get Ready For the Sequel

I’ve heard this one rumbling for a while now. First there was the story that DC Comics Publisher and President Paul Levitz had personally prevented any Watchmen 2 projects, because, despite their differences, he believed that as this would be against Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ wishes, it would cause bery bad feeling in the creative community and would be a creatively bankrupt move.

Moore fell out massively with DC Comics, and Paul Levitz specifically, not only choosing not to work with them any further, but scuppering spinoff projects, removing his name from any movie credits and any money due to him from said movies, and taking his one final project The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, from Wildstorm, a publisher DC had purchased

But in the wake of the movie, Watchmen became DC’s best selling comic book of all time. One might say partly because it had remained undiluted after all this time.

But there were moves. A Wizard splash showing DC’s Countdown multiverse had Rorschach as one of the combatants and it was rumoured one of the universes in the DC 52 Multiverse was intended to be the Watchmen world. Instead, Earth 4 became a world inspired by elements of Watchmen and the Charlton Heroes universe but with other aspects such as the laws of physics being altered.

But the news broke that Paul Levitz was stepping down from DC Comics as both President and Publisher, I wondered what that meant for the possibility of a Watchmen sequel. Certainly in a hundred years, you couldn’t expect there not to be one.

Well, it seems to be happening a lot sooner than I thought. I understand now that this considered a pet project of Dan DiDio, SVP-Executive Editor. That he is determined to impress new bosses by building on DC’s biggest selling comic book of all time with multiple prequel comic miniseries and spinoff ongoing projects.

I understand that both Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons have to be offered first refusal before any of these titles could be published. But if they don’t want to work on them themselves (and Alan Moore is never going to agree), DiDio has been sounding out people who might be willing to take on the task.

While some creators are reticent, the argument goes if there are a number of Watchmen spinoff projects, any blame or shame can be spread on many shoulders. The sales are expected to be massive, whatever the hardcore fanboy reaction and such expected sales benefits will be shared amongst the creative teams.

In contrast, not only would Levitz not allow any new Watchmen stories but even the video game was restricted to material in the graphic novel and film, nothing brand new was allowed to be invented. Despite differences with Moore, Levitz has held fast to the committment that the comic is the comic is the comic.

It seems that this may now change.

At this stage, having disowned himself of much of it, Alan Moore is likely not to care. Though we might get an eviscerating blast at some point if this all comes to pass.

Both Jim Baike, Rich Veitch and Gene Ha/Zander Cannon are artists who have taken on writing chores on books previously written by Alan Moore, to continue the storyline. The most creatively-acceptable solution would be Dave Gibbons writing and drawing new Watchmen titles. But DiDio’s plans seem much larger than just one book.

And of course, in those initial movie contracts with Fox, there was a clause that included sequels to a Watchmen movie.

When asked, Dave Gibbons only replied “Hurm…”

Fast and Furious "Fast Five" Confirmed

Fast and Furious "Fast Five" Confirmed

Universal Pictures is hitting the accelerator on a fifth installment of "Fast and Furious," currently being referred to as "Fast Five."
Studio has closed deals with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, director Justin Lin and producer Neal Moritz to return to the franchise, which has become one of the studio's most lucrative.

Diesel and Walker sat out the third chapter in the series but returned for last year's fourth installment, which was the highest-grossing "Fast and Furious" film and Universal's top grosser of 2009. Its box office haul was more than $350 million worldwide.

Chris Morgan is writing "Fast Five," marking the third time he and Lin have teamed for a "Fast and Furious" film. The story finds protags Dom (Diesel) and Brian (Walker) as fugitives being pursued by relentless lawmen.

Lensing will begin later this year for a 2011 release.

Original Films' Moritz has produced every film in the series, beginning in 2001 with the "The Fast and the Furious."

Ca$h Has Found A Home And Ready To Roll Into Theaters

Ca$h Has Found A Home And Ready To Roll Into Theaters

This is a good day for the folks over here at SandwichJohnFilms, being that Stephen Milburn Anderson is one of the great directors.

And we really hope this films gets the treatment that it deserves with a great cast and film maker.

Roadside Attractions has acquired the U.S. right to "Ca$h" the film will be hitting theaters on March 26th, I am hoping that it will get a large relase and not a selected theater in only the major cities.

Lionsgate has acquired the the film for DVD. The film was produced and financed by Naveen Chathappuram, of Immortal Thoughts, with Prema Thekkek serving as Executive Producer. Media 8 Entertainment is handling international sales.

If you have watched the movie South Central then you know the work of Stephen Milburn Anderson. The film had to be one of the best movies that depicted the gang life in South Central LA. Still to this day I can remember O.G Bobby Johnson. Deuce Deuce (Hoover Street Deuces).

And now he is coming back to the scene with the movie "Cash" Starring Chris Hemsworth(soon to play Thor) and Sean Bean(Boromir in The Lord of the Rings and National Treasure)

A stroke of good luck turns lethal for Sam Phelan (CHRIS HEMSWORTH) and his wife Leslie (VICTORIA PROFETA) when they are faced with a life-changing decision which brings strange and sinister Pyke Kubic (SEAN BEAN) to their doorstep. As Pyke leads Sam and Leslie on a tumultuous adventure through the streets of Chicago, each are pulled deeper and deeper into a desperate spiral of deception and violence... All in the name of cash.

"Kick-Ass" Director Matthew Vaughn Wants To Get His Hands On "Sandman"

"Kick-Ass" Director Matthew Vaughn Wants To Get His Hands On "Sandman"

Matthew Vaughn's in a unique position with some of comics' most popular talents. That's why when he talks ideas for future projects, fans listen.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Vaughn spoke openly on his appreciation of realistic comics, praising both his "Kick-Ass" and "Stardust" collaborators and stating that Gaiman deserves to have more of his work translated to film.

"I think it's weird that hardly any Neil Gaiman stuff has been made. The idea that no one has made 'Sandman' yet is weird," said Vaughn.

The Sandman's main character is Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, who is essentially the anthropomorphic personification of dreams. At the start of the series, Morpheus is captured by an occult ritual and held prisoner for 70 years. Morpheus escapes in the modern day and, after revenging himself upon his captors, sets about rebuilding his kingdom, which has fallen into disrepair in his absence. Gaiman himself has summarized the plot of the series (in the foreword to Endless Nights) as "The Lord of Dreams learns that one must change or die, and makes his decision."

The character's initially haughty and often cruel manner begins to soften after his years of imprisonment at the start of the series, but the challenge of undoing past sins and changing old ways is an enormous one for a being who has been set in his ways for billions of years. In its beginnings, the series is a very dark horror comic. Later, the series evolves into an elaborate fantasy series, incorporating elements of classical and contemporary mythology, ultimately placing its protagonist in the role of a tragic hero.

The story-lines primarily take place in the Dreaming, Morpheus's realm, and the waking world, with occasional visits to other domains, such as Hell, Faerie, Asgard, and the domains of the other Endless. Many use the contemporary United States of America and the United Kingdom as a backdrop. The DC Universe was the official setting of the series, but well-known DC characters and places were rarely featured after 1990. A notable exception is Lyta Hall, formerly Fury of the 1980s super-team Infinity Inc., who figures prominently in the "Kindly Ones" story arc.

Most of the storylines take place in modern times, but many short stories are set in the past, taking advantage of the immortal nature of many of the characters, and deal with historical individuals and events.

When asked if a theoretical "Sandman" picture was something Vaughn would like to participate in, the director seemed enthusiastic despite the film's current lack of cinematic autonomy.

"You know what, I would love to do "Sandman," but I think it's stuck in development hell," Vaughn said, "But that could be like a 'Lord of the Rings' - just a huge movie."

Vaughn's enthusiasm for comic book adaptations doesn't stop with Millar and Gaiman, though. The director has also referred to "The Avengers" and "Superman" films as dream projects.

Whether Vaughn's next movie project will spring from sequential art or something else entirely is currently unknown. While rumors of his attachment to an adaptation of Millar's "American Jesus" were debunked back in July, the possibility hasn't been ruled out completely.

"Tron Legacy" New Image Of Jeff Bridges

"Tron Legacy" New Image Of Jeff Bridges

Recently Oscar nominated Jeff Bridges for the movie CRAZY HEART. And one of my all time favorite actors.

Disney has released a new photo of
Jeff Bridges in the upcoming coming film Tron:Legacy. The picture doesn't say much just another tease from the movie Studios. Maybe he is on Facebook playing Farmville?

Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidante (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Clash Of The Titans And Harry Potter Films To Be In 3D

Clash Of The Titans And Harry Potter Films To Be In 3D

Warner Brothers with Legendary Films made official just now what everybody in Hollywood already knew: its upcoming slate will be filled with 3D titles. Its feature film Clash of the Titans will be released in 3D worldwide and simultaneously in 2D on Easter Weekend April 2nd. (Which prompted several studios to hastily move release dates so as not to compete.) Doing the visual effects work will be Prime Focus, which received an Oscar nod today for Avatar.

Additional titles in 2010 that will be released in 3D (in addition to 2D) include Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (July), Guardians of Ga’Hoole (September), and Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows, Part 1 (November) -- and I'm told Part II as well at a later date

Said Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros Pictures, in the announcement

“We are experienced and have been successful in the conversion of 2D to 3D going back to such hits as The Polar Express, select scenes in Superman Returns and the last two Harry Potter films.” Fellman continued, “The results for Clash of the Titans will be presented onscreen with the highest-quality images available today.”

Stereo Pictures Korea president Sung Young-seok told Daily Variety that his company is in talks for three additional pictures at Warner and is bidding on a number of 3D films for individual directors, including one for Michael Bay.

Bay's next project is "Transformers 3," and there have been discussions among Bay, Paramount and Industrial Light & Magic about going 3D with the pic. The big stumbling block is the extra time required to do production and visual effects in 3D, as the movie's release date is already set. Having the pic post-converted could alleviate that problem.

The distributor is branching out into production with Cinedome and Little's project -- the first to light up the startup division.

Metrodome will distribute in the U.K. and Ireland and will hold an equity stake in the movie worldwide, in addition to co-producing the film.

Urie said: "This new production venture forms part of our growth plans in which we [at Metrodome] intend to build additional revenue streams for the company to enhance our successful U.K. distribution operations".

Metrodome's chief has an extensive resume in television production including stints making programs for the BBC and ITV.

"MacGyver" CreatorTrying To Hault "MacGruber"

"MacGyver" Creator Trying To Hault "MacGruber"

A downright explosive fight has broken out between the creator of the "MacGyver" television series and the producers of "MacGruber," the Will Forte parody film set to hit theaters in April.

Lee Zlotoff, who created the 1985-92 ABC series about a resourceful secret agent who uses science to escape precarious situations, retained the right to make a movie based on the show via his "separated rights" under WGA rules. THR reported last March that New Line is developing a "MacGyver" movie, with Zlotoff, Raffaella De Laurentiis and Martha De Laurentiis producing. Months later, THR reported that Relativity Media was moving forward with "MacGruber," a comedy based on the popular "Saturday Night Live" segments featuring cast members Forte and Kristen Wiig. Universal will distribute the Jorma Taccone-directed film.

The "MacGruber" movie didn't sit well with Zlotoff, whose attorney began sending cease-and-desist letters to Relativity execs.

"We feel they’re infringing our rights," Zlotoff lawyer Paul Mayersohn told us Tuesday. As the film's April 23 release date approaches, Mayersohn says he's meeting with litigators to determine a course of action, which might include filing a copyright and/or trademark lawsuit and attempting to get an injunction against the film's release.

Relativity and Universal declined to comment on the dispute, which first surfaced on the Latino Review Web site. A New Line spokesperson also declined to comment.

Before greenlighting projects, studios typically vet scripts with copyright lawyers, obtain insurance and clear the title with the MPAA. That's especially true when making film parodies such as "Airplane," "Austin Powers" or the "Scary Movie" franchise.

This case presents a potentially interesting twist on typical parody situations because the "MacGyver" and "MacGruber" films are being developed simultaneously and the parody will hit theaters before the original (and presumably could impact the market for a film based on the original). Mayersohn said an unfair competition claim could be part of a Zlotoff lawsuit, but a few of our litigator sources said he still faces an uphill battle on free speech grounds.

"There’s a broad right to parody, and in this instance it’s clearly parody," said Alonzo Wickers, a First Amendment attorney with Davis Wright Tremaine in Los Angeles. "I don’t think a viewer will believe the 'MacGyver' folks authorized this."

As to whether "MacGruber" infringes any "MacGyver" copyrights, Martin Katz, an entertainment litigator with Sheppard Mullin, told us Zlotoff's case could hinge on whether the "MacGruber" parody makes a "fair use" of the "MacGyver" rights -- a loose test that courts employ to balance free speech against the rights of intellectual property owners.

"If he’s got separated rights and the right to make a motion picture is his, the out for that would be if the work falls within fair use," Katz said.

One of the fair-use prongs is whether the potentially infringing work hurts the market for the original. James Bond and Austin Powers manage to co-exist successfully. Can MacGyver and MacGruber? The clock is ticking.

Kate Beckinsale Returning For Underworld 3D

Kate Beckinsale Returning For Underworld 3D

Kate Beckinsale will in fact be starring in Underworld 3D, assuming she can't work her way out of the deal. What do I mean? Well, sources tell us she's trying to find a way out of the film -- or at least have a smaller role in order to "pass the torch" to one of her kindred (yes, she has not one, but two daughters at this point). With a plan to release the film in theaters on January 21, 2011, production needs to commence soon. Who will helm? The Variety article states Len Wiseman will once again go behind the camera.

Orlando Bloom Is "The Good Doctor"

Orlando Bloom Is "The Good Doctor"

Orlando Bloom is toplining "The Good Doctor," an indie drama to which Michael Pena, Troy Garity, Courtney Ford, Taraji P. Henson, Rob Morrow and J.K. Simmons are in negotiations to co-star.

Bloom also is producing the Lance Daly-directed pic while his Viddywell Prods. producing partner Sharon Miller exec produces. Jonathan King and Dan Etheridge also are producing.

The script from John Enbom ("Veronica Mars"), described as a Hitchcockian thriller, centers on a frustrated doctor looking to impress his superiors and colleagues. When his 18-year-old patient, admitted for a kidney infection, provides him with the esteem he so craves, the doctor tampers with her treatment so that she'll have to stay at the hospital with him.

Pena will play an orderly who discovers the doctor's budding relationship and blackmails him for prescription painkillers. Garity is a successful, self-assured doctor, a counterpoint to Bloom. Ford is a woman who has eyes for Bloom's character.

Production is to start this week in Los Angeles. Leonid Lebedev is exec producing while Julia Lebedev acts as co-producer. Nicholas Chartier of Voltage Pictures is handling foreign sales. "Doctor" will make house calls at the European Film Market, which opens next week in Berlin.

Next Bourne Film To Be A Prequel?

Next Bourne Film To Be A Prequel?

While we were doing the red carpet thing at last night’s premiere of Invictus, we cornered Matt Damon and demanded that he tell us just what the HECK is going on with Bourne IV, following Paul Greengrass’ recent departure. What he told us will rock you to your very core:

“There’ll probably be a prequel of some kind with another actor and another director before we do another one,” he said, “just because I think we’re probably another five years away from doing it – we’ve got to get a script…”

OK, note the word ‘probably’. Could mean all kinds of things – that Damon is engaging in pure speculation, for one. But if anyone’s going to have the inside track on Universal’s plans for Bourne, it’s David Webb himself. So… does this mean that Universal has decided to – and here comes that dread word – reboot one of their biggest franchises?

Maybe, maybe… If so, it would contradict recent whispers that tentative feelers have been put out to a major director to fill Greengrass’ shoes, but there’s no doubting the appeal of a reboot for Universal. If they plough ahead with Bourne IV, they’ll have to persuade Damon to come back - a tough call, given his very public vow to work only with Greengrass on the movie. But by rebooting, with a new director and a younger actor, the problem is solved.

And in a way, this could mean that audiences could well get the best of both worlds – they would get a prequel that shows just how bad-ass Bourne was before he became the amnesiac assassin with a conscience, and eventually get to see an older, wiser Damon reprise the role for one final time.

Of course, the plot of Bourne IV has been something of a thorny issue, with multiple screenwriters no closer to cracking the story. And Damon admits that they’re none the wiser.
“If you have any ideas, call Universal,” he laughed. “They’d love for you to get in touch!”

Maybe we will… and while we’re at it, we’ll poke around some, see if there’s any truth in Damon’s suppositions.

New 3D King Kong Ride At Universal Studios Hollywood

New 3D King Kong Ride At Universal Studios Hollywood

Over a year and a half ago the 7 ton,30 foot tall King Kong was destroyed in June 2008 Fire on The back lot of Univerasl Studios Hollywood.

Universal instead spent 6 times as much to build a new attraction then remake the old ride. And created a 3D version of the ride.

Joe Letteri, the visual effects supervisor for the film, said:

We saw it and we said we wish we had done the whole movie in 3-D.

Since then, Weta Digital have honed the 3-D technology and many of the technological advances developed for Avatar will be used in the Kong attraction.

Universal Studios Hollywood President Larry Kurzweil, said:

After the 2008 fire, we knew we had to bring him back to the back lot studio tour, but in a way that has never been experienced before. It's going to feel like Avatar but it will be happening all around you.

Here's a list of facts and features for the new attraction:

- Guests on the studio tour will board a tram that will enter a 200-foot-long soundstage

- Guests must don 3-D glasses for the 2 1/2 -minute attraction

- Park visitors will not only see Kong in three dimensions but also smell his banana breath, feel the gust of wind as he jumps over the guests and sense the ground quake when the ape engages a Tyrannosaurus rex in a life-or-death battle

- The 180-foot-long screens will curve around the tram so that the 3-D images seem to surround the passengers

- A system of fans, sprayers and other devices installed in the building will spew air, water and odors at park visitors to bring the images to life

- The new ape will resemble the Kong from the 2005 film, right down to the broken canine tooth and the scars over its right eye.

- Other creatures and scenes from the movie, including caves, giant bats and dinosaurs from Skull Island, will also appear on the four-story-tall screens

- Universal Studios describes the new Kong attraction as the largest 3-D exhibit in the world

There was a lot of money put into this two and a half minute stop, but the right team is behind making it truly immersive. The old animatronic ride was a major icon for the theme park, but how long of a life will this new ride have? Could it be replaced by new movies the studio releases? Of course, most movies don't contain creatures of King Kong's size. But Jurassic Park is getting the reboot, so it's not hard to see this helping promote those films along with the Jurassic Park ride.

The new Kong attraction will debut as one stop on the Universal back lot tour ride this summer.

Pierre Morel Talks Dune

Pierre Morel Talks Dune

Pierre Morel began a career as cinematographer for such films as "The Transporter" and "War",and then he worked his way to the directors chair in 2004 with his first film "District 13" , which was followed by the surprise hit "Taken" starring Liam Neeson and his upcoming film "From Paris with Love" Starring John Travolta

Now comes the hard part adapting Frank Herbert's novel "Dune" for the movie screens. A few have tried their hand at the film. (David Lynch and Alejandro Jodorowsky)

Can you talk a bit about your upcoming adaptation of Dune?

I'm preparing for a long trek in the dunes... We're going to start writing in a couple weeks. It's very early [in the] process.

Do you plan to infuse it with some action?

I don't know. It's all about—I'm a huge Dune fan, a reader, like for 30 years; I read it when I was a teenager. I've read it 10 times maybe, so I want to stay true to the book. Saying that, I also think that there's a lot of scenes that are not described in the books—it's just mentioned, like the bad guys attacking something—and it might make sense to include those in the movie, not just by mentioning it but showing them, and that would maybe [call for] some action scenes, yes. It's not about action. It's not the point. It's not about [making] an action movie. It's just doing Dune. It's like a huge universe thing, and there's such a fanbase, like guys who have been reading that forever—you can't mess with that.

Edge of Darkness Movie Review By:Sandwichjohn

Edge of Darkness Movie Review
By:Sandwichjohn

The Edge of Darkness marks Mel Gibson’s return to movies. The last starring role that he had was in 2002. It will be interesting to see if his behavior since then will influence the success of this movie. I will say that we were the youngest people by far in the theater during the showing we attended.

Edge of Darkness is a 2010 film adaptation of the 1985 BBC television series.

Mel Gibson plays Thomas Craven, a Boston police detective, who is investigating the death of his only daughter. Bojana Novakovic plays Emma Craven, who is murdered right in front of Thomas by a shot gun blast to the chest. Before Emma is murdered we see her vomiting and her nose is bleeding, she starts to freak out telling her father there is something that she should have told him. And then Bam.

The police department starts investigating the case under the assumption that Thomas was the intended target and Emma was just caught in the crossfire. As Thomas soon finds out that was not the case.

As Thomas starts going through his daughter’s thing he discovered that there was a lot to her life that he didn’t know about. A gun in her nightstand leads him to a boyfriend he didn’t know about. Going through her cell phone leads him to friends he didn’t know. And a visit to her place of employment leads him discover that she worked for a company that has a lot to hide.

Mel Gibson gives a solid performance as a grief stricken father out for revenge. I have to admit though that I was struck by how much he seemed to have aged in the last couple years. My favorite performance of the movie was that of Ray Winstone as Darius Jedburgh, an operative brought in by a senator to clean up the mess. He seems to take a liking to Thomas and instead of killing him ends up helping him. Robert De Niro was originally cast in this role but left the film after 2 days on the set because of creative differences.

There were some great scenes involving Thomas and his dead daughter, one in particular that brought tears to my eyes. There were also some good action scenes. And there was one scene in particular that really made me jump out of my seat.

6.5 sandwiches out of 10

Sam Raimi To Direct The Shadow?

Sam Raimi To Direct The Shadow?

Following the Spider-Man 4 debacle, all eyes were on World of Warcraft as Sam Raimi's next potential gig behind the camera. But IESB are reporting that an inside source at Camp Raimi reckons the director may well opt for The Shadow, before galloping off to Azeroth.

All so much hearsay of course, but maybe, just maybe, there's something in it. Raimi was already attached to The Shadow as a producer, and Warcraft isn't yet written, while Siavash Farahanl handed in the second draft of his Shadow script in the second half of last year.

As a lower-rung hero - at least in terms of general moviegoer recognition - The Shadow isn't necessarily a huge undertaking, meaning Raimi could possibly bring some of his back-to-basics Drag Me to Hell approach to the material. If that was taking us back to the Evil Dead days, maybe this could hark back to Darkman. Plus the "ferocious" script that IESB describe - broken bones, meat grinders - sounds like old-school R-rated Raimi's kind of fun.

The Shadow, for those unfamiliar, started life on American radio in the 1930s (voiced in early days by Orson Welles), and burgeoned into pulp fiction, comics and b-movies, the last of which was directed by Russell Mulcahy in 1994, starring Alec Baldwin. A tortuous back-story means that the Shadow identity is shared between WWI aviator Kent Allard and wealthy socialite Lamont Cranston, but in both forms he's a master of disguise, master of hypnotism, crime-fighter and wearer of a big hat. His chief sidekick is slinky 40s it-girl Margot Lane. His nemesis in Farahanl's screenplay is called Mr Remorse..,

Zachary Quinto To Play George Gershwin For Spielberg

Zachary Quinto To Play George Gershwin For Spielberg

Since he dropped out of Harvey, Steven Spielberg’s first project under the reconstituted DreamWorks has been a subject of much speculation. Now I hear who's at the center of the director's biopic of George Gershwin, which DreamWorks acquired last fall. It’s Zachary Quinto -- Sylar in the NBC drama-fantasy Heroes, and Spock in the JJ Abrams-directed megapic Star Trek. Quinto will play the famed composer and pianist, who with brother Ira was responsible for more than a dozen Broadway shows before dying at 38. DreamWorks is even supplying accent and dialogue coaches for Quinto, and shooting could begin as soon as April. Doug Wright wrote the script, and Marc Platt and singer/pianist Michael Feinstein are producing. A DreamWorks insider says this is one of 3 projects Spielberg is looking at for his next piccause he's anxious to get back to work. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an announcement later this week.
