The Professor and the Madman Trailer Starring Sean Penn & Mel Gibson

The compilation of the Oxford English Dictionary began in 1857 and was one of the most ambitious, and revolutionary projects ever undertaken. Professor James Murray ( Mel Gibson ) took on the challenge of creating the most comprehensive dictionary ever compiled, but knew that it would take him and his team over a century to compile all known definitions. However, by “crowd sourcing” the work, that is, by enlisting definitions from people all over the world, the dictionary could be compiled in mere decades. As definitions were collected, the overseeing committee, led by Professor Murray, discovered that one man, Dr. W.C. Minor ( Sean Penn ), had submitted more than ten thousand words. When the committee insisted on honoring him, a shocking truth came to light: Dr. Minor, an American Civil War veteran, was a convicted murderer and being held at an asylum for the criminally insane. The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance First Images

A follow-up to Jim Henson and Frank Oz's The Dark Crystal has been in the works for well over a decade now. A while back the news was that the project was tentatively titled The Power of the Dark Crystal, and that the plan was to blend old-skool puppetry and animatronics with animated CGI backgrounds. But while the focus on physical puppets remains paramount, the project itself has developed into Netflix prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance . We've already seen a trailer of sorts: now the streaming service has released a trio of new character images, along with a full cast list. Set many years before the events of Henson & Oz's 1982 fantasy puppet classic, Age Of Resistance finds the world of Thra in its death throes. The Crystal of Truth is at the heart of Thra, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land. When three of the elfin race the Gelflings uncover the horrific truth beh

Movie Review: The Forest

New year’s inaugural horror film breaks January curse. Review by Brandon Wolfe It has become a tradition over the past decade for each new year to commence with the release of a horror movie of deeply questionable merit. These January kick-off films have included a few entries with some moderate, arguable virtues ( Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones , Daybreakers , maybe Texas Chainsaw 3D ), but more often than not, the slot is awarded to scarefests that really stink up an already malodorous month. 2012’s The Devil Inside is perhaps the most quintessential example of January horror at its shoddiest and most ineffective. The message is clear: People are still primarily seeing December releases, everyone has the post-holiday blues and these movies cost virtually nothing to make, so why not toss them out into the barren winter void and hope for a couple of bucks to trickle in? The Forest is this year’s deposit into the January dead zone, but someone neglected to tell its filmmake

The latest viral video from the film sends a strong message to Panem. For those of us who have enjoyed the films based on the successful Hunger Games books, Mockingjay represents the beginning of the end, a time when the 12 districts rebel against the mother district. And while we're waiting for an official trailer, Lionsgate has released a fun viral that shows just how desperate the Capitol is to keep the disricts in line, while offering a startling surprise. As you can see above, the latest piece of propaganda to be aired on Capitol TV is an address from President Coriolanus Snow (Donald Sutherland), who plays the ruthless ruler of Panem. But what's most surprising is the addition of Hunger Games survivor Peeta Mellark, who is supposed to be helping the rebellion. This harkens back to Return of the Jedi , when non other than Luke Skywalker was featured next his father and enemy Darth Vader. In age before the Internet, that scene generated intense buzz leading
