#ChrisPine & Zachary Quinto Signed On For Star Trek 4

The third installment of the rebooted Star Trek franchise boldly heads into production this week in Vancouver, and its cast is getting a big pay raise. At the same time, the studio behind Star Trek Beyond quietly has locked up two key players for a potential fourth installment. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Paramount and producer-financier Skydance Entertainment recently completed last-minute renegotiations with the Star Trek stars, a move that has added as much as $10 million to $15 million to the budget. The project’s slow development process may have been partly to blame, as well as the rising star power of the actors, especially Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana . When the original cast — Pine, Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin and John Cho — signed on for the movie that re-launched the franchise in 2009, they did so with options for two sequels. Despite the fact that studios often will give stars big new deals in case of success, no re-ne

Matthew Vaughn in Talks to Direct 'Flash Gordon'

The Kingsman director is poised to bring Flash Gordon back to the big screen. Story by Matt Cummings If you've listened to our Inside the Bucket podcasts, you know of our boss' affection for the 1980 Sci-Fi film Flash Gordon . Full of camp and cheese, the film followed the extraterrestrial exploits of the titular character (played by Sam J. Jones). But the 'franchise' (if you can even call it that) has been in a slumbering coma. Gordon, a football star who becomes a space adventurer - battled Ming the Merciless and captured the heart of human Dale Arden (Melody Anderson). The movie doesn't hold up at all for many reasons, and there's not exactly a lot of clamor to see it return. But that could be changing. Our friends at THR are reporting that Kingsman: The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn could be working on a Flash Gordon movie series reboot. Negations between he and 20th Century Fox are currently underway, which represents the

#SofiaBoutella Tapped For Lead Role In Star Trek 3

After a sharp turn as the sexy blade-legged assassin in the Matthew Vaughn -directed hit Kingsman: The Secret Service , Sofia Boutella has been set for a lead role in Star Trek 3 . Which Justin Lin is directing from a script by cast member Simon Pegg and Doug Jung (creator of the TNT series Dark Blue). Prying loose info on this project is difficult, so I’m not sure whether she’s on the side of good or bad, but I’m told she’s got a lead role in the Paramount/Skydance film produced by Bad Robot that’s based on the Gene Roddenberry series. Paramount has dated the pic’s release for July 8, 2016. Please Leave A Comment-

Justin Lin Set to Direct Star Trek 3

The Fast & Furious director has been chosen to replace Roberto Orci. The story of Star Trek 3 's production problems have unfortunately overtaken the actual shooting and planned release of the film, leaving Trekkers to worry about the future for this divisive reboot franchise. One big question was answered on Monday, as Paramount announced that Justin Lin was signed to direct, taking over the center chair for the departed Roberto Orci (whose stays on to produce). The question of whether Lin was the right choice certainly is a valuable one. Known for directing four of the successful Fast & Furious films, Lin brings a fast-car style of excitement that Star Trek has never had. He's a proven commodity on big budget productions, essentially breathing in new life to a franchise that had honestly gotten stale - you can only show so many hot women, fast cars, and actors who can't act before audiences ask for more. Perhaps it's time for Star Trek to return to it

Flash Gordon Film On It's Way

" Star Trek 3 " scribes J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will work off a treatment by George Nolfi to write the script. Twentieth Century Fox has closed a deal to pick up the screen rights to the pulp comic strip hero in a package that has John Davis producing and J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, the up-and-coming scribes who just worked on Star Trek 3, on board to write the script. The deal is a long time coming for Davis, who spent more than a year nailing down the rights from the Hearst Corporation. The veteran producer, whose credits include Chronicle and the upcoming Man from U.N.C.L.E . among dozens of others, used his discretionary fund to get the rights. He also hired George Nolfi, who wrote Bourne Ultimatum , to pen a treatment and brought in Payne and McKay. Gordon is the hero first created in 1934 by iconic artist Alex Raymond who, along with the lovely Dale Arden and mad scientist Hans Zasrkov, ends up on the planet Mongo fighting its tyrannical ruler, Ming the
