BOB MARLEY: ONE LOVE Featurette

Scarlett Johansson's Lucy Will Be Getting A Sequel

"I don't see how we can do [a sequel]. It's not made for that,” Luc Besson said last summer about the prospect of a sequel to the surprise smash hit " Lucy ." “If I find something good enough, maybe I will, but for now I don't even think about it.” Well, it looks like he's thought about it and something is brewing. At CineEurope 2015, production house EuropaCorp (which Besson heads up) announced their slate of upcoming films, which quietly mentioned that " Lucy 2 " was "in development." Here's the roster after the Jump... “Shut In” with Naomi Watts (International Release Date February 19, 2016) “Nine Lives” with Kevin Spacey (International Release Date April 29, 2016) “The Lake” with Sullivan Stapleton (International Release date July 15, 2016) “Warrior's Gate” with Dave Bautista (date undetermined output) “The Transporter Legacy” with Ed Skrein (Release date September 9, 2015) “Escobar” with Javier Bardem and Pe

August 2014 Movies On Our Radar

Summer 2014 gets one last chance to make an impression. Summer 2014 made a big run in July, featuring releases like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes to The Purge: Anarchy , and Lucy. But there was a feeling that somehow Hollywood didn't exactly bring its A game. With films like The Dark Knight , Inception , the original Transformers and Harry Potter released during the same months during the previous 8 years, 2014's schedule felt very underwhelming. As Summer 2014 wraps up, we look to August to deliver a knockout punch, or at least offer better chances for box office glory than July. The schedule features mutated reptiles, washed up action actors, and a little film from Marvel. Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1st) Plot: In the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan. Director: James Gunn Starring: Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Coop

Lucy Review: Transcendence Meets Black Widow in a Dark Alley

The well-intentioned but disappointing Lucy goes all weird on us and never looks back. Lately, there's been a lot of talk in films about humans only using 10% of their brain. We've heard this for years, and while this has been proven flatly untrue , Luc Besson's Lucy forms 90 minutes of this pseudo-science into an uneven mess. Lucy (Scarlet Johansson) is a party girl living the fast life in Taipei when she's forced to become a drug mule by the sinister villain Mr. Jang (Choi Min-Sik). Tucked in her lower abdomen is a bag of CPH4, which is eventually broken and begins to leak. As a result, this drug that pregnant women excrete begins to fill ScarJo, increasing her brain power and gifting her with powers such a telekinesis, immunity to pain, and the ability to travel through data streams and electronics. Desperate for what to do with her newfound powers, she reaches out to Professor Norman (Morgan Freeman), who encourages her to further humanity before she disap

July 2014 Movies on Our Radar

Horror and Science Fiction dominate a busy July. From a release perspective, June 2014 was an odd month in terms of releases. What started with exceptional dare (Edge of Tomorrow) became mostly flled with the blah (Jersey Boys) and the boisterously long (Transformers: Age of Extinction). WIll July get us back on track? Fans of Science Fiction and Horror have some promising fare, even if they don't deliver on a strictly monetary value. The schedule features possession, an angry ape, an entire angry murderous people, and a woman who's about to get a huge upgrade. Deliver Us From Evil (July 2nd) Plot: NY police officer Ralph Sarchie investigates a series of crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest, schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the possessions that are terrorizing their city. Director: Scott Derrickson Starring: Eric Bana Why We're Interested: While we're not really impressed with the “based on a true story” subtitle, we
