San Andreas Sequel Might Be On It's Way

THR is reporting New Line and Dwayne Johnson want to make the earth move for you one more time. The company has hired Neil Widener and Gavin James to write a sequel to San Andreas , the Johnson-starring earthquake disaster movie that grossed over $473 million worldwide last year. A good chunk of the team is due to return for the second installment. Johnson is swinging back to the sequel as is producer Beau Flynn, producing via his Flynn Picture Co. banner. Brad Peyton, who directed the movie, is also returning. The 2015 movie saw Johnson as a search-and-rescue helicopter pilot who teams up with his estranged wife (Carla Gugino) to save their daughter (Alexandra Daddario) when a series of quakes crush Los Angeles and San Francisco. Gugino, Daddario and Paul Giamatti, who played a seismologist, are also expected to return. (Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore as well as Carlton Cuse wrote the original's script.) Plot details for the new installment are being sheltered

Dwayne #TheRock Johnson In Talks For Big Trouble In Little China Remake

20th Century Fox is excited about a new take from “ X-Men: First Class ” writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is in negotiations to star in and produce a remake of John Carpenter ‘s cult classic “ Big Trouble in Little China ” that will be written by “X-Men: First Class” scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap . A representative for 20th Century Fox did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Johnson is making a deal to play Jack Burton, an all-American trucker who gets dragged into a centuries-old mystical battle in San Francisco’s Chinatown. Johnson and his 7 Bucks Entertainment producing partners Dany and Hiram Garcia pitched the remake to rights-owner Fox, which released the original film. “Big Trouble in Little China” is one of Johnson’s favorite movies, and Miller and Stentz have already closed a deal to write the script. Movie Review: 'San Andreas'

San Andreas is big, loud, summer disaster fun, but is that enough to see it? Review by Matt Cummings Disaster films are always best viewed with the most minimum of expectations: make it big, make it loud, and hope all of the tearful goodbyes aren't too wincing. And although the human drama and the science behind Director Brad Peyton's San Andreas isn't great, the action is superb and performances good enough to warrant you take a chance. The LA Fire and Rescue helicopter pilot Ray (Dwayne Johnson) is a hulking figure whose professional accomplishments in Afghanistan and LA are overshadowed by the constant reminder of loss. One of his daughters perished in a rafting accident, which led to a painful divorce that his soon-to-be ex-wife (Carla Gugino) was forced to accept. Since then, Emma has moved in with a well-to-do architect (Ian Gufford), while Ray saves a young woman after an avalanche near LA. This seemingly small event peaks the interest of a Cal Tech

Story by Matt Cummings & Brandon Wolfe May is the month when the box office awakens from its 4-month sleep, rubs its eyes and stretches its wings to give us a taste of the rest of the year. And while the year has given us some terrific surprises ( Kingsman: The Secret Service and Paddington ) and some poignant moments, ( Furious 7 ), 2015 has honestly been a dud, filled with many high-profile duds ( Chappie , Jupiter Ascending , Seventh Son , 50 Shades of Grey ). But now it's onto May and the beginning of the summer season, a time when Hollywood begins to lay down its big cards hoping for long lines and plenty of popcorn sales. In the past three years, we've seen Iron Man 3 , X-Men: Days of Future Past , Godzilla , and a little 2012 film called The Avengers . This year is no different, as May brings us a staggering amount of quality releases that are worth mentioning. Several appeared in our MOST
