Bloopers & Outtakes From The LEGO Movie.

In case you didn't get enough of "The LEGO Movie" in theaters, or in any of your multiple viewings this upcoming weekend, there's now an official blooper reel online.

The spoiler-filled, animated bloopers feature nearly three minutes more of the animated classic... But more importantly, they focus mostly on Will Arnett's amazing Batman:

The LEGO Movie Review. The Film Is Hilarious, Inventive & Should Not Be Missed-

Naturally, these aren't actual bloopers since the movie was animated. But it certainly seems like Arnett is riffing during the "Batman flying into the sun" scene. It also proves that this is the craziest performance Morgan Freeman has delivered since "Driving Miss Daisy." Maybe ever.

About Last Night Review. The Film Is A Very Good 80's Remake, And That's Saying A Lot

About Last Night Review
By: MattInRC

If you're familiar with the 1986 comedy About Last Night, you'll remember just how big it made Actors Rob Lowe and Demi Moore - fresh off their success with St. Elmo's Fire, the two were part of the Brat pack, a collection of young talent including Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Andrew McCarthy, Judd Nelson, and Molly Ringwald. For many late teens, these and other films defined our generation because their themes hadn't been addressed before. Today, such 'Coming-of-Age' films are standard issue, and usually contain more raunch than an actual message. The 2014 remake is just similar enough that we can appreciate the old, while laughing hysterically at the new.

The plot centers around the relationship of Danny (Michael Early) and Debbie (Joy Bryant), who meet at a local club, hook up, then try the whole "friends with benefits" game before moving in, falling out of love, and eventually separating. On the other side is the womanizer Bernie (Kevin Hart), who meets Debbie's friend Joan (Regina Hall), a rambunctious soul who seems evenly matched against Bernie's sexual appetite. As Bernie and Danny deal with their relationships and work stressers, Debbie and Joan try to understand their men's psyches, while their men try to get them into bed. The results lead to impossible declarations and painful choices that both couples must make.

Based on the David Mamet play Sexual Perversity in Chicago, Director Steve Pink and Writer Leslye Headland have fashioned a good old fashioned remake while allowing our leads the opportunity to play off each other in some hilarious skits. They take the raunch up a notch, with everything from profanity to sex in chicken masks - yes, this appears to be a Hart thing. The center of this affair is strangely not Hart, whose supporting presence actually helps the film - this is Ealy's and Bryant's show, and the two play serious quite well. We like the level-headed Ealy in Almost Human, and here his somewhat tortured persona is terrifically relatable - he seems like a guy who's just trying to figure out who he is without all the drama that people these days think is a necessary aspect to their lives. His relationship with Bryant works not because the two look good, but because we can see ourselves in them. Hart and Hall are that dramatic couple no one wants to have dinner with, but their banter is pitch-perfect throughout the film. They represent the film's joyous center, with Hart continuing to solidify his resume with each new project and Hall's precociousness adding a sassy level to things. She waves her finger at the little guy while demonstrating her obvious sexuality while Bryant and Ealy look on with horrified glances.

Pink also picks up the sex, showing lots of body parts without giving up all the goods. Moore is quite naked in the original, but the lack of it here actually adds a more respectable sexual tone, while pushing the comedic boundaries in ways the original never could. Pink never makes things look like After Dark on Cinemax, keeping it sensible and always in tune with Headland's story. The curious thing is that Pink tries to make Los Angeles - a city well-known for its lack of public walking spaces - into something resembling New York or even Chicago. It's a minor thing, but when you see a flower shop or a pet adoption on a busy downtown street corner, you have to call BS. Besides, it makes us feel better to callously critical. Nevertheless, the final product issues just enough tips-of-the-hat to the original - including a cameo of sorts for Lowe and Moore - to make our creative team look way smart. And although the ending is predictable to a fault, we still enjoyed it because of its ability to portray relationships for what they really are: work. If you know someone who claims these things are easy, then they're either crazy, stupid, or blind. About Last Night never shies away from this, but instead embraces and shows it off like Hall's ridiculously short dresses.

Unlike most Valentines Week movies that guys will dread sitting through, we think About Last Night offers a satisfying alternative that works well on several levels. It's definitely different enough to feel new while honoring the 80's classic just enough to peak our interest to revisit it. With no less than three 80's flicks either slated for release or already in theaters, we can see this entertaining affair remaining on our list for quite some time, although we're not sure it's a Day One purchase on Blu-ray. About Last Night is rated R for sexual content, language and brief drug use and has a runtime of 100 minutes.

Tupac Biopic Is Back On With John Singelton To Direct

In the two years since director John Singelton dropped out of the project, the long-developing biopic of Tupac Shakur has progressed no further. Both Singleton and his predecessor Antoine Fuqua reportedly moved on after failing to find the perfect actor to fill the Tupac's sneakers. But the film has clearly remained much on Singleton's mind, leading to this morning's news that he's now attached to direct, produce and write it once again.

Tupac, as if you need telling, was a hip-hop superstar, with albums like Me Against the World, All Eyez on Me and The Don Killuminati all achieving multi-platinum status. He was also building an extremely credible acting career before his untimely death in a drive-by shooting in 1996. The murderer has never been officially identified (although Nick Broomfield's Biggie & Tupac posits some pretty credible theories) and the case remains unsolved.

Singleton at the helm of the biopic has always made a lot of sense, since he actually knew Shakur: he directed him in Poetic Justice in 1993. “Tupac was the guy who I planned to do a lifetime of films with,” Singleton says now. “His passing deeply affected my life as well as countless people in this world. His life story is as important to my generation.” He remains close to the rapper's family, with Pac's mother Afeni Shakur-Davis on board this film as an executive producer.

The screenplay has passed through the hands of Steve Bagatourian (American Gun), Stephen J. Rivele & Christopher Wilkinson (Ali, Nixon), and Brian Tucker (Broken City). Early versions were structured around Pac's time on Suge Knight's Death Row Records, with lengthy flashbacks to his earlier life and rise to stardom. Whether Singleton will stick to that in his re-write or freak his own style remains to be seen.

The next job, once again, is to find the film's elusive protagonist. Anthony Mackie played Tupac off-Broadway to some acclaim a few years ago, but his short turn in the Biggie-opic Notorious was met with less enthusiasm and he doesn't seem to be in the running here. Open casting calls have also resulted in nothing to date, so Singleton still has his work cut out. Unless he finally has someone in mind already... Filming is currently pencilled in for June.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson "Ballers" Headed To HBO

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is heading to TV full-time.

HBO has picked up to series Ballers, the dramedy starring the Pain & Gain alum, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Half-hour comedy Ballers examines the lives of a group of former and current football players.

The comedy hails from Stephen Levinson (Entourage), who penned the script and executive produces alongside Mark Wahlberg, Johnson, Hiram Garcia, Evan Reilly and Peter Berg, the latter of whom will direct the pilot. Dany Garcia is on board as a co-EP. HBO is producing the series with Wahlberg's Closest to the Hole Productions, Levinson's Leverage Entertainment and White Buffalo Entertainment.

Ballers continues the premium cable network's relationship with Levinson and Wahlberg, whose credits also include HBO vehicles Boardwalk Empire, How to Make It in America and In Treatment.

Johnson is no stranger to the sports world, having played college football before kicking off his World Wrestling Federation career and becoming one of the sport's best and most renowned personalities.

The series marks Johnson's latest small-screen effort and first series regular role. His credits also include hosting TNT's reality competition series The Hero.

For Berg, the Johnson starrer will bring the number of HBO pilots he's attached to direct to two, joining Damon Lindelof's adaptation of The Leftovers.

The cast includes Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Rob Corddry, Troy Garity, Donovan Carter, Jazmyn Simon, Taylor Cole and LeToya Luckett.

The Ballers pickup comes two days after HBO picked up fellow comedy pilot The Brink, starring Tim Robbins and Jack Black, to series and weeks after the premium cabler opted to cancel comedies Family Tree and Hello Ladies after one season each. (Hello Ladies will wrap up with a comedy special.)

The pickup gives the network a comedy with instant cache and comes as the premium cabler has been focusing on niche fare as it has struggled to find a broad comedy hit comparable to dramas True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones and, more recently, True Detective.

Ballers and The Brink joins a roster of original comedies that includes Girls, Veep and Looking, with Mike Judge's Silicon Valley also due in April. The network also has six-episode Emily Mortimer entry Doll & Em due in March, and is in talks for a second season of Getting On.

This leaves HBO with no remaining comedy pilot in the works after the cabler opted to cancel family comedy People in New Jersey, starring Sarah Silverman.

Ballers marks the third series HBO has picked up this week, joining David Fincher's adaptation of Utopia.

Melissa McCarthy's Tammy Teaser Trailer

Melissa McCarthy knows what works for her in terms of comedy. As Bridesmaids, The Heat and (to a lesser extent, reviews-wise) Identity Thief have proved, it’s slightly wacky characters who are still somehow grounded and relatable. It’s territory she’s firmly back on for her latest, Tammy, and the teaser trailer has shown up online.

Tammy finds McCarthy as the title character, a woman whose placid, ordinary life comes tumbling down around her when she’s fired and discovers that her husband has been cheating on her on the same day. Stunned by the revelation, Tammy decides to head off on a road trip with her hard-drinking, potty-mouthed grandmother Pearl (Susan Sarandon).

This first teaser doesn’t show Sarandon, instead focusing on one scene and allowing McCarthy to dominate. Clearly needing some extra cash, Tammy decides to rob a quiet late-night fast food restaurant, and… well, let’s just say she’s not exactly a master criminal. Nor does threatening people appear to come naturally.

Robocop Review. Lacks The Amoral Wit Of The Original

Robocop Review
By: MattInRC

Does Jose Padilha's Robocop do the franchise right, or just well enough? Read on to find out!

 Warning: spoilers ahead.

The future imagined by Director Paul Verhoeven during the 1980's and 90's is almost as frighteningly real compared to the one we really got. Science Fiction has become today's fact, but it's more intrusive than we'd like, living up to the promise of a far more dangerous than we had hoped; but it was these ideas and almost vicious bloodsport presented in 1987's Robocop which have defined a generation of Sci-Fi/action films. That random mega-violence - which has become such a part of these genres - generated a healthy bit of shock among those who first witnessed it, and might have overtaken the entire film had it not been for the career-defining performance of its titular lead, played by Peter Weller. Fast-forward 27 years, and Director Jose Padilha has resurrected the franchise with a good but not great remake, crafting a more character-driven affair that sadly misses in a couple of key areas.

Set in a futuristic but violent Detroit, detective Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is critically wounded while hunting a local gun runner, leaving Murphy's wife (Abbie Cornish) to ponder a future without him. But Dr. Dennett Norton (Gary Oldman) and his financier OmniCorp - led by the dubious Raymond Sellars (Michael Keaton) - have a plan: turn what's left of Murphy into a mechanized cop loaded with all the extras. Although projects like these have been banned in the past, Sellars and Norton hope a successful test will convince an obstinate Congress to change their minds. A voice in the debate is talk show host Pat Novak (Samuel L. Jackson) who sets off to convince Americans one by one that the law must be lifted. As Murphy adjusts to his new life, he learns that living as a cyborg comes with risks he hadn't imagined, including the desire of an OmniCorp mercenary (Jackie Earle Haley), who wants to see him fail. As he gets closer to his killers, Murphy must decide if he can do what's right while protecting his family, who just want a normal life with him again.

It's clear from things that Padilha and Writer Joshua Zetumer have a healthy respect for the franchise, throwing in lines from the original, and creating a general sense that this universe is more Ender's Game than Starship Troopers. But there's also a feeling that some elements needed more attention. We loved the idea of corporate America getting their hands dirty in future tech, and the idea of smarter weapons over bigger ones was well played, but the individual performances of some of the actors felt stiff and one-dimensional. Both Haley and Keaton come off a stock antagonists, there to utter gruff lines about what people want or what machines should be without knowing why they feel that way. Each time they come into contact with Murphy, it's almost anti-climatic because we already know the outcome; the original film addresses this in fine form, giving Murphy three vanilla directives and a hidden one which is cunningly used at the right time. Here, that prop is never employed and things are worse for it.

But it's the casting of Kinnaman that will probably divide audiences the most - he's pretty much unfeeling as both a human and as Robocop, playing the former with such a dull edge that his pulse never rises above barely awake. Even when he dons the costume, there's little there except for a couple of emotional exchanges that don't feel real at all. Believe me, you'll know the scene I mean when you see it. Cornish pulls off a couple of emotional tirades, but again there's no support system for her once Murphy goes down, and any backstory to explain her mental toughness is suppressed for other dramatic elements. The real bright spot is Oldman, who plays the sympathetic and idealistic doctor with an ease that we've come to expect. He's the perfect moral center for Robocop, acting as both healer and surrogate father to Murphy. On the other end of the spectrum - and just as effective - is Jackson, whose hilariously bias news commentaries remind us directly of the Verhoeven version, although no such role existed in that one. But it's clear that Zetumer and Padilha don't treat the other actors with the same respect, and consistently waste several incredible screen talents along the way.

On a personal note - not like this review isn't filled with them already - I wanted an R Robocop, not a PG-13 one that tries to stay nice but wants so desperately to be bad. I really wanted a more brazen Robocop that I loved so much in youth. Such an ultraviolent re-imagining might have actually improved things, making me hope that we'll get a director's cut once it's released onto Blu-ray.

In the end, Robocop is entertaining, but fans of the original will miss the wit and sheer brazenness of the Verhoeven classic. Padilha and his team waste their acting assets, but pull off a film that should pack theaters if only for a brief period. Neither terrible nor groundbreaking, Robocop is an acceptable choice this weekend if only because no other similar competition short of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit exists. We'd recommend staying away from IMAX, RPX, and XD, as there's not enough big set pieces to warrant the inflated ticket prices. You'll like it on a smaller screen, but it's lack of amoral wit will leave you wanting more. Robocop is rated a disappointing PG-13 for too many reasons and has a runtime of 108 minutes.

Teaser Trailer For The Purge: Anarchy

With the smash success of low-budget chiller thriller The Purge last year, Universal has been quick to try to capitalise on that by throwing the sequel into production. The first teaser trailer for what is now called The Purge: Anarchy has arrived online.

The sequel film stars Frank Grillo, Zach Gilford, Michael K. Williams, Carmen Ejogo and Kiele Sanchez. The film is set for a June 20, 2014 release date worldwide.

You’ll recall the basic concept – in a bizarre, violent future America (next week?), the government comes up with a radical idea to curb crime and social issues. One night a year, all laws are suspended, the emergency services including police, fire and medical are rescinded and people are free to do exactly what they want within a set 12-hour period.

While the first film aimed for claustrophobic tension by spotlighting one family’s nightmare trapped within their seemingly secure house under siege by masked vigilantes, the sequel opens the canvas up a little, following what happens when a young couple (Zach Gilford and Kiele Sanchez) break down outside LA on the worst night possible. Naturally, things turn very dark for them as masked weirdoes haunt their every turn and the violence begins to ramp up…

Audiences were clearly ready for this, even given the incredibly odd concept, which goes even further satirising the country’s attitude to gun violence versus other problems. With James DeMonaco back writing and directing.

HISTORY Premieres New Series NO MAN’S LAND ON March 9th

Those who survive in the desert live by one rule: Adapt. Or Die.

HISTORY ANNOUNCES BRAND NEW SERIES NO MAN’S LAND PREMIERING SUNDAY, MARCH 9 AT 10PM ET/PT

HISTORY® presents NO MAN’S LAND, a new series that transports viewers into the lives of those who thrive and survive in the barren landscape that marks the end of civilization: the great American desert. The series premieres Sunday, March 9 at 10PM ET/PT.

It takes a special breed to make the desert their home, but these men brave the crippling heat, stealthy predators and volatile weather – in order to live on their own terms. In one of the most hostile environments on Earth, danger is a way of life, but the desert also offers freedom, independence and escape from the work-a-day world.

NO MAN’S LAND follows five hardcore men who live off the land and prove that survival here requires ingenuity, grit and self-reliance.

About the desert dwellers:

Continuing traditions passed down through generations, Jason carves out a living from the sparse resources of Arizona’s Sonoran Desert, forging knives, tools and simple machines, and finding food wherever he can. Protecting his family is his number one priority.

David is a hardened desert veteran who braves Utah’s parched Red Rock Canyon Country to fulfill demand for rare and valuable desert stones. He depends on an annual summer rock harvest to support his large family, including 21-year-old son Leo who wants to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Charlie Acuña is descended from the White Mountain Apaches and has honed his primitive skills for decades. He has always dreamed of challenging himself to live off the land, and he’s finally putting himself to the test in New Mexico’s northern desert.

In the searing, cactus-choked canyons of Texas’ Chihuahuan desert, feral longhorn cattle live free and breed. It’s Howdy’s job to round up the most ornery steers, born mean in the loneliest reaches of the Lone Star State. But as the world around him changes, this veteran can only battle the desert for so long, and it could be just a matter of time until Howdy has to hang up his spurs.

California’s Death Valley is one of the hottest places on Earth, known to reach temperatures of over 130 degrees in summer. Rick Gibson is a former Navy man who left his city life behind in order to live by his own rules. Rick makes a living here in the hellish but beautiful Mojave landscape, scavenging deep underground into the area’s abandoned mines, looking for valuable relics of the Valley’s bygone era, surviving on his wits and skill where few would dare to tread.

NO MAN’S LAND is produced for HISTORY by Warm Springs Productions. Elaine Frontain Bryant and Russ McCarroll serve as executive producer for HISTORY. Chris Richardson and Marc Pierce are executive producers for Warm Springs Productions.
