Lara Croft Film Is On The Way

Lara Croft is back in action. The heroine of one of the biggest video games from the 1990s is once again getting the movie treatment, this time from heavyweight producer Graham King and his GK Films. GK Films has acquired the feature film rights to Tomb Raider and will reboot the action-adventure franchise aiming for a 2013 release for the first film. The new movie will be produced by King and Tim Headington. Angelina Jolie starred in the two previous big-screen adaptations made by Paramount, and with King having produced The Tourist , the Jolie-Johnny Depp thriller, some tongues were wagging about the potential for a new Jolie Raider movie. But sources say GK Films, which has not hired a writer yet, may be looking to do a Lara Croft origin story rather continue her adventures. According to GK Films, the goal is to "create daring new adventures for the young and dynamic Lara Croft." The game was created in 1996 by Eidos, now part of entertainment group Square En

Can Angelina Jolie Be "Unforgiven" GK Films is developing a feature adaptation of the 2009 British miniseries Unforgiven , and Christopher McQuarrie writing a script that’s being tailored for Jolie to play the lead role. Jolie, who next stars with Depp in the GK-financed Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck-directed thriller The Tourist (Columbia Pictures releases the film December 10), separately announced this week she’ll make her directing debut and produce with GK’s King and Tim Headington a Bosnian love story she has written. McQuarrie , who just scripted X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 , was one of the writers on The Tourist. Unforgiven is about a woman’s attempt to rejoin society after she serves a 15-year prison stretch for the murder of two policemen. The tragedy happened after the policemen came to evict her family from their farmhouse. Her hope is to live quietly and reunite with her troubled younger sister, but the paroled woman is targeted for a revenge campaign by t

The studio better get their act together because the targeted start date of February is coming up soon. First Tom Cruise was set to star in the film, but dropped out to star in another film. Then came "Avatar" star Sam Worthington was going to star in the film, he exited along with director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, both over creative differences. Then Charlize Theron exited and Angelina Jolie entered. Tried yet? And this is how we have come to Mr. Depp. Johnny Depp is in talks to star with Angelina Jolie in "The Tourist," a film that is undergoing another major shift of elements as it heads toward a February production start. Angelina Jolie Steps In For Charlize Theron As "The Tourist" If we are talking about eye candy then either one would be just fine for me. It like trading an apple for an apple all the same to me. Both are gorgeous and can act. It's more which one do you like more? Also Look like Sam Worthington will be replacing my main man Tom Cruise in the film also. The project is now also seeking a director, as Bharat Nalluri, the "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day" helmer who had been attached to direct, is as of last week off the project. Are we playing revolving door here? Charlize Theron has opted out of the Spyglass-produced thriller "The Tourist," to which she has long been attached, and in talks to replace her is one Angelina Jolie, sources say. Production has at least until this point been tentatively set for early 2010, which could prompt producers to act quickly on a director.
