The new game, which hit stores Tuesday, also exceeded the previous "Halo's" first-day haul of $170 million, which had set an opening record in 2007. Microsoft Slashes Price On the Xbox 360 Needing to Keep up with Sony Playstation 3, which also had a price cut down to $299. Microsoft steeped up and also Slashed the price for the 360 Elite Console. On Thursday, Microsoft confirmed weeks of speculation by formally announcing a $100 price drop of its Elite model Xbox 360 console, now set at the competitive $299 price point.
