Tom Hanks Thinking About "Sleeping Dogs" Tom Hanks may be the first actor to board Paramount’s “ Sleeping Dogs ,” Kathryn Bigelow’s follow-up to “ The Hurt Locker .” The project was previously known as “ Triple Frontier ” and reunites Bigelow with her “Hurt Locker” scribe Mark Boal. The story is set in the border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, which is a haven for organized crime, and centers on five men of various ages working in the zone. The project became a hot property in the wake of “Hurt Locker’s” Oscar wins, and since the winter months of the awards season many names have popped up in association with “Dogs,” whose title may change yet again, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Sean Penn and Jeremy Renner . Jeremy Renner Signed To Play Hawkeye In Upcoming Marvel Film? As we reported back in Novememebr of 2009, there was a rumor floating around that Jeremy Renner would be playing Hawkeye in an upcoming Marvel Film. The last thing we heard about all this came from Renner himself in which he said, I haven't heard anything since I talked to them (marvel) three weeks ago. The last I knew is that they still have to find their director for 'The Avengers,' that's where he's really going to show up. They were just talking, 'Like maybe we should consider maybe hiring Hawkeye now' but there's no director on 'Avengers' so they don't really want to force-feed the director, 'Here's the whole cast.' It's a big role so they didn't want to do that to the director, so I think they might wait. I know they're interested, I'm interested, so we'll see if it works out. Jeremy Renner, To Play Hawkeye In Upcoming Marvel Films? "The Hurt Locker" obviously did wonders for underrated actor Jeremy Renner's career. He was in discussions about taking some sort of role in George Miller's "Mad Max: Fury Road" (many speculated the lead role) and now the thesp says he's up for a reoccurring smaller role in Marvel films. In the latest issue of Empire magazine (not online, but our U.K. writer Oliver Lyttelton transcribed for us), Renner says he and Marvel have been in discussions about playing the archer character Hawkeye that will make appearances in a least two upcoming Marvel pictures, including a cameo in "Thor" and then a role in "The Avengers" supergroup. "Hawkeye could be interesting. They're going to send me some stuff on it, see what it is.
